Pot belly simply indicates an unhealthy man. He isn't exercising or eating right, resulting in a collapse of his abdominal muscles.

With the muscles collapsed, the intestines/stomach normallly held in by the abdominal muscles push out the slacked muscles+ the layer of fat already built up on it resulting in the pot belly you're so proud of.

You might think its cool for men to walk around with pregnancy of various stages but the truth is you really need to see your doctor.

Alfa Seltzer: American spec is just a design pattern that car makers do to suit the taste of US consumers. It is not a govt. imposed specification but a competition induced action. Adapt or die. They study what Americans want, and they provide it.
America has the largest automobile market in the world. They give you (Auto makers) an access to that market but you must attain the standard they want (American spec).

Politics › Re: Breaking: PDP Wins Delta By-Election by ba7man(m): 11:59am On Oct 13, 2013
PapaBrowne: Truthfully, I sympathize with the opposition first because they don't seem to understand what they are up against. PDP is a very popular party at the grassroots. I mean extremely popular. While the opposition runs to the pages of newspapers(by the way the average newspaper sales just 20-30,000 copies daily) the PDP has a chain of supporters running all the way down to the doorsteps of the average masses.

Secondly I sympathize with the opposition because they don't have a national understand. They bring SW or Katsina mindset and expect to win in the SE, SS or MB. PDP on the other hand is a decentralized party. The PDP in Kogi is local to Kogi and the PDP in Bayelsa is local to Bayelsa. The opposition cannot win outside its strongholds and its sad that they don't get it.
Iheard someone say on the thread that the elections were rigged because the margins were very wide. Eyaaah. I wish you understood that many people were hearing APC for the first time in their lives on election day.

Now let me share a story. I flew into Warri on Friday went home and realized that since there will be no movement till 4 pm the next day I would have to stay hungry if I don't get cook-able food at home. So I decided to go to a small open market near my estate. About 100-150 women traders selling all the things you need to hook yourself up with a meal. A few men selling meat. It was around 7pm and the market was still buzzing. While I was there I realized the women were unusually happy. Then suddenly two traders started discussing about the next days elections. They spoke glowing about why they like PDP any why they will be punching umbrella tommorow.
They said and I quote: "na only PDP they remember us. Rain dey disturb us for this market since. Anytime wey rain fall we go begin run like malu they find wetin we go use cover our wares. But see, everybody don get this big umbrella now. Na PDP bring am come"
I find it sad that they'll exchange their votes for mundane things like umbrellas.

Politics › Re: What You Don't Know About Nigeria's Space Program by ba7man(m): 11:16am On Oct 13, 2013
Henry120: Don't wait, the time would never be just right.

The space program as we have seen, and continue to see has been an immense asset to the FGN, not just in tracking social and environmental issues, but critically in security, planning and most importantly food security and agriculture. The merits of this program far out-weigh whatever demerits the ignorant reporter can concoct.

The satellites are tracking crops and weather around the country in an effort to protect long-term food supply. There is also closer monitoring of the Niger Delta and environmental damage from oil spil and tracking of crude oil thieves.

...................."We've just collected images over Mali and nigeria's border region, which we've handed over to the armed forces because we believe they will be helpful to them in the peacekeeping mission over there," says Seidu Mohammed, director-general of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA)."...................

..................."In the city of Lagos, and its surrounding area, satellite images are being used for urban planning and tax collection. The plan is to use this to help manage the rapidly growing population of Africa's second largest city."...................

...........((There are scores of Countries that don't have a space program but are doing far better than we are. This shows that it might be of use but there are more salient issues on ground.)).......... This statement shows that you are completely and utterly ignorant. So we should not develop because there are countries doing better than us in HDI indices. Oya, go and tell this to the indians, chinese and brazilians.

.............If you witnessed the Ocean surges prior to the Ocean Reclaimation projects, you won't need a satelite to tell you Lagos would be underwater in the near future............. This is a stup1d comment. How then do you effectively plan if you do not know for certain what area's have been consumed, your estimated time left, what should be done and the areas to start from to check-mate the surge?
Has food become suddenly cheaper or suddenly more available as a result of it being tracked by satelites??

Has there been an increase or decrease in oil spillage and crude-oil theft with the use of satelites??

Look at India, Brazil and China's economy and compare it to ours. So once a country doesn't have a satelite, they have no acess to aeriel data??

Then finally, can't you guys supporting this satelite drop your points without insults??

Or should i post the psychological reason people are always so quick to result to insults??
Politics › Re: Black Africans Were The First Europeans, Say Scientists by ba7man(m): 9:41am On Oct 13, 2013
ROSSIKE: You are looking at it from a very wrong perspective. Fact is every race gets their turn to dominate. Human nature dictates that no race an dominate forever, as all are hampered by eventual regression caused by human factors like greed, complacency, etcetera. This is why civilisations rise and fall and none is ever permanent. The same western civilisation you see now will one day be history just as Egypt, Nubia, Greece, and the Aztecs are history. In fact as we speak, we are seeing the decline of western civilisation, and the rise of the East.
I agree with you on this. At least i can say the Black race is on the rise once more.
Politics › Re: Black Africans Were The First Europeans, Say Scientists by ba7man(m): 9:31am On Oct 13, 2013
ROSSIKE: Blacks were explorers, conquerors, inventors and invaders long before the whites. In fact THOUSANDS of years before the whites. Whites are newcomers to civilisation in historical terms. The pyramids and temples of Egypt and Sudan are thousands of years older than any European monuments. Meaning of course that blacks were the first architects, mathematicians, surveyors, scientists, physicists etc.
We had our chance, we blew it.

Now, they're the ones running things.

"I had it once" doesn't mean you still "have" it, it only means you can get it back.
Politics › Re: Nigerians, Please Slow Down On Copying Foreign Things by ba7man(m): 8:26am On Oct 13, 2013
They are ahead of us in most areas of human endeavour so why not draw inspiration from them??

What the whites do is, they copy what you have and they improve on it till it has their own identity. We should not see things in terms of race, we should see it in terms of "good" and "bad".

Why don't we adopt and try to improve the positives we can learn from them and leave out their negatives??
Politics › Re: What You Don't Know About Nigeria's Space Program by ba7man(m): 7:01am On Oct 13, 2013
Ikengawo: So do you not know that part of the solution to Makoko is this program and programs that invest into the countries future? Do you know that satelites create entire industries for common people to raise out of poverty, save people from weather conditions like flood, and help map and know where poverty exists and to what extent? Would we have known Lagos was going to be flooded over in 2050 without satelites? and what has that led to? Eko Atlantic.

If white people want to be ignorant about Nigeria and it's ambitions its not mandatory nigerians join them.
Its a good idea but bad timing. We haven't developed the foundation, we're already building a grand roof.

There are scores of Countries that don't have a space program but are doing far better than we are. This shows that it might be of use but there are more salient issues on ground.

If you witnessed the Ocean surges prior to the Ocean Reclaimation projects, you won't need a satelite to tell you Lagos would be underwater in the near future.

ROSSIKE: The industrial revolution in Europe occurred only 250 years ago, which is like yesterday in historical terms. Before then Europe was not more developed than anywhere else. What happened to their ''advanced thinking ability'' for nearly 40,000 years prior?
Yeah, there was an acceleration in their development after the Industrial Revolution but you can deny their passion for development and discovery prior to that.

They were the explorers, the conquerors, the crusaders, inventors. No one is worshiping them here but there are certain positives that worked for them in developing their societies. We can take these positives, ignore the negatives and work on it to aid ourselves.

Not true. The VW Golf is always of comparable price to the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus and other Vehicles in its class.
Car Talk › Re: Ban On Importation Of Tokunbo Cars: What You Should Know by ba7man(m): 7:00am On Oct 12, 2013
jp philips: Nigeria has no business manufacturing cars, we have a lot of area of competitive advantage better than other countries.
As a car manufacturing nation, we cant compete with the Europeans and Asian tigers, that is a fact so why bother ourselves, even America with their level of industrialization is not finding the Japanese competition funny let alone Nigeria.
Innoson can export to Ghana and equally sell to individuals or corporate bodies who are interested, it doesn't call for Govt intervention.

If we really wanna industrialize, we should look at areas where we already have competitive advantage and consolidate on it, Nigeria is sitting on enormous gas reserves have we explored them?

Have we looked at areas of refining where we can export refined products and all west African countries come to us to purchase petroleum products?
What about petrochemical industries? Nigeria has the capacity to produce synthetic tannin, gums, resin, imidazole, plastic (of whichever kind), cellophane, benzene, etc for the whole of Africa, have we looked into those areas?

have we built local capacity in those regards? so what are we manufacturing cars for? if all these sectors are developed, we are gonna be getting loads of foreign exchange and we are gonna be better off.

ironically, we don't even have sufficient skilled man power to support the Auto industries at least for the next decade so what is the rush for? this insufficient capacity is reflective on the number of quacks who murder our vehicles on a daily basis.

i really don't think that Jonathan is asinine, i think this move is political, the NPA is generating huge money internally for the federal govt as we speak, FIRS will tell better, its election time so there is need to mop up funds by increasing tariffs, OBJ has done it before so Jonathan is playing a script we are used to.
I swear, you get brain. Your thinking is way above the average Nigerian.

We've not taken advantage of the opportunities right in front of our noses, we're jumping to Automobile Manufacturing.

olrotimi: How on earth is this happening in lagos, on a sunday morning for that mata when thousands of xtians wld b plying that route to & frm church? Pls dnt tel me sunday is the best day to cause minimal inconvenience to commuters. For a company as sophisticated as CECC, such projects are done at night with heavy beams of light giving sufficient illumination. This is nt good enough for us, Nigerians are treated as sc*mbags by these foreigners, its soo not good
Would you prefer a weekday with thousands of cars going to and fro, traffic jam, rush hour and the likeshuh

When was the last time you saw night constructions in Nigeria?? They probably saved cost by doing it during the day and avoid buying diesel to power the generating sets to power the high beam lights.

Goddex: This is just a publicity stunt by the LASG to give Nigerians impression that they are working. How on earth should installing precast beams for a pedestrian bridge amount to a closure of road with newspaper advertorials? Before now, how are the several beams for flyovers and pedestrian bridges litred all over Nigeria and expecially Lagos installed?
You just feel like talking, abi?

Do you want cranes assembling large precast beams with traffic driving underneath them running the risk of one of the beams dropping and killing people below??..........Or people should all of a sudden drive into closed roads and the construction workers will have to constantly explain to commuters that they are installing pre-cast beamshuh

That is a large construction site and many things are going on at the same time.

lastpage: Believe me, the likes of Gbawe, Sloan, Agbameta and the 40-i-Pad crew are not real Yorubas!
In every tribe you have their likes (sycophants and shameless praise-singers) .......and they dont represent such tribe.

Dont humor them by making them think they are intimidating anyone around here, its just that "one should not argue with fools less their wont be any distinction between "both"".

As a born and bred of Lagos, to a few generations back, l can say authoritatively that this "flying car" is no different from the "floating Boat restaurant" which Fashola and Tinubu's cohorts use in siphoning the wealth of Lagosians. That vessel was towed down here with our tax-money all in the name of tourism!
They will claim it is "completely private" but then, here and there, you will see how they have used "public infrastructures and public space" to enhance their own personal profit!

Can you imagine that if for example, l run into some money or loot Lagos treasury and hop off to the U.K ... and then decide: "SINCE IT IS MY MONEY" (Private Initiative or Private Money as those clowns refer to it), that l want to build a Project (May be a mansion) and the people in that area "have no say or benefit from it or majority of the Brits do not benefit from it!

You think the British Councils would not shoot it down very quickly?
I have witnessed were such projects were denied "planning permission" simply because for example, it will "deface the SKY-LINE" or it will "block air-flow to some part of the area or even block the path of sunshine to some resident's house!

That is an environment were people dont just think about the benefit that accrues to THEM ONLY, even when they are investing their private money, ...but consider the 'wider effect' on others who are stake holders in the society.

As long as Gbawe, Agbaameta and these "40-i-Pad otimkpus" get their crumbs from their employers, they are bereft of reasoning and logic.

They may claim to be Lagosians but in reality, they are what the "real Yorubas" will refer to as "Alaa te'nuje, omo okele"
(Boyz of the stomach who thrive on filthy lucre).

They really deserve to be pitied.

Lastpage!
Indeed. I really cannot believe the crap some are writing here. Imagine his dumb and arrogantly ignorant use of "WE" here in relation to a project 100% funded by the private sector? Yet he is worried about the "reasoning level" of others? This is how you know what is driving contributors like Lastpage i.e the fact they cannot calm down and, like reasonable adults, realise that this is a Lagos initiative the private sector is helping to actualise.

When these nuisance posters cannot discern this basic distinction you can understand they won't be part of the solutions any time soon and will limit themselves to inane and worthless contributions. The lazy thinker is talking about "we invest in trams" without fundamentally understanding that Lagos does not have the money to just "invest" in any idea any random citizen, out of many millions, comes up with however laudable such is !!!! this is the fiscal reality Fashola and guys like the owners of Ropeways transport deal with as builders of society !!!!.

Why does this Lastpage character not work to form his own funding consortium and raise an attractive PPP tram proposition he can approach Lagos with? Would Lagos ever say no to a proactive effort from a genuinely productive 'son of the soil' if, as the most burdened state in Nigeria by far, it is approached with a workable plan for a tram system? Is it not even patently lazy and tediously distracting to begin suggesting one form of transport while condemning another when all progressive Lagosians would fundamentally appreciate that a State which will be hosting 25 million people in the near future will need a transport mix as diverse and as comprehensive as possible?

This is the sadness of it all. We need solutions badly and do not get such. Instead every lazy and vainglorious thinker comes here daily to make 'Holy grail' suggestions that will cost many billions of dollars Lagos does not have without the adult balance to realise that this money must come from somewhere and perhaps even from us getting involved to help our beloved States and Nation grow as Ropeways transport is doing. The day we gain the sophistication to move away from empty and perpetually negative citizens to note some of the solutions lie in our own hands is the day we will begin to see many more companies like Ropeways rising up to bridge the gap between where society has to go and where it is currently.
That is why the rich are always few in number. They see a problem and they come up with a solution, making a lot of money through selling it.

This is what Lagos State Govt has encouraged through the PPP.

Most people are good at criticizing just to feel important and intelligent. They then go back to their desks in their offices and their life goes on the same cycle it always has..........they then come back the next day to complain some more.
