Nice one by the GEJ administration considering the fact that past Govts ignored those refineries. I just pray it results in a decrease in fuel pump prices in the end.....But it seems @Koruji is on to somthing serious with his post. Hmmmm.... |
I only wished those Aba boys would brand their products with their own name rather than an established foreign one. It won't stop people from patronizing them if they're not immitations. |
Our craftsmen too also need to step up their game. A lot of them still use analogue tools their grandfathers used in this age of powered tools. This has affected their rate of output and finishing. As for Chinese products, i once asked a Chinese door dealer what type of wood he used for his doors and he shook his head. The door was made of wood shavings laminated with a good-looking synthetic cover. Those doors will look good but will fall apart in no time. Meanwhile a "Made in Nigeria" door will have an ugly look but its certainly going to be made of wood. |
9jadelta: i agree with you. i bought zinaox laptop sometimes ago, i bought it around 80k with very low spec just because i wanted to buy made in nigeria product and it didnt last a year. i coulda bought HP or acer at the same amount with higher specifications. anyway am not discouraged by that. but it seems nigerians really dont know how to do business, same with hitv that suppose to give dstv a run for their money, but its more expensive than dstv with all their crappy stations, same with glo and mtnIts this loophole in not being able to marry our level of craftsmanship with cost that the Chinese exploited to gain a foothold on our market. |
Sincere 9gerian: Yes, there maybe issues with pricing but that is the exception. For most products, the prices of locally manufactured products are at par with imported ones. And when imported ones are cheaper, check the qualityI'm into Architecture, interiors and construction. Its always better to import your accessories because you'll get good quality, a wide variety at very sane prices. I also belive in patronizing Nigerian products but once they get it right, they always end up shooting themselves in the foot with their pricing. Value for money is hard to find in locally made products. |
Sincere 9gerian: Another reason why Nigerians should patronise MADE IN NIGERIA products:Now i don't belive this.....Speaking from experience. Maybe products like textiles but the ones that require a high level of craftsmanship or technical ability......its a no-no. |
@Sincere Nigerian. The problem with patronizing a lot of "Made in Nigeria" products is the fact that they are usually over-priced and of inferior quality. For example, furniture makers sell their set of living room Chairs for approximately N250,000 and above. Its not as if they'll be the best quality and the finishing is likely to be tacky. Now check out a foreign mag on furnitures and see what they offer you for the same price or less. Its not really encouraging. |
neena adjei: thank youIf you wish to keep your sanity and hairline from receeding, stay away from these kind of arguements in the Political section. |
It is written in the Bible that the annointing flows from the top, not from the side or center.... If you want positive change in an ailing organization, fire the head and replace him with a competent one....... An organization always takes the characteristics of its leader. If the head is corrupt there's nothing the body can do about it.....All Governors can confidently be corrupt b'cos they know GEJ will do nothing about it. |
django1: Unless if a miracle happen bro, like make God just format d brain of everybody for this country!Hehehehe....It can eventually look like the pics in the future.....but not in 2020 sha. Maybe 2040-2050 after an aggressive and increased approach to infrastructural development. |
Being realistic 2020 is too soon for Lagos to look like that...... but never say never. |
I will reserve comment until I hear from ACN insiders. Eko-Ile and co, please is this true? Shut up joh! The fact that it has been going on for ages doesn't make it right or acceptable. It is mor0ns like you that encourage filthy politicians to do what they do. You've lost all sense of decency and incredulity because it is the norm? Is it a bad thing to expect or demand change?
Since you're so concerned, you could go protest at Alausa....Or better yet, wait for Fashola at its gate and attack him when he shows up.....or you could go find a fat tree trunk and bite on it hard. |
They say "A man's wife is a reflection of who he is inside". I still wonder what their courtship must have been like....the amount of grammatical murders that must have occured. There's no way they could have been relating in English. |
At least, if you add the money for the First Ladies Mission House and the Vice-President's House together, The 2nd Niger Bridge would be halfway under Construction by now. JUST 2 HOUSES OOOO....!!! BTW, I love the fact that they've started consulting Architects to design bridges in Nigeria, that means our Bridges don't have to look Ugly, drab, souless, uninspiring as if they were built by military men going to the war-front. Most bridges in Nigeria are very Ugly....This one is a refreshing Change. |
Why are some people acting as if this is the first inflated contracted in the history of Nigeria?? We used to experience Over-inflated Contracts that were later abandoned or never carried out but now, at least they're commissioning them now. For the mean time, this is the norm in Government contracts, sad but true or do you want me to start recounting tales of what really goes on in a State like Akwa-Ibom or the Ajaokuta railway line??. We will get there soon. Yeah, its Over-inflated and its Sad but this has always been the case in Nigeria.

See my school ooo!!! Damn, I take style play well well for that school......But it always comes back to bite you in the arse. ![]() |
AwodwaGyanOniwe: @RickDude, but you're Ghanian and you're claiming South Africa more than South Africans themselves. C'mon, are you so quick to abandon your roots?? That's a classic case of inferiority complex. |
Wouldn't it be better if we shared knowledge and engage in healthy, mature discussions....rather than trade insults like a bunch of fat, uneducated market women?? |
Oshiomhole begged to join PDP; But thy refused.....and now he's Governor and he's kicked PDP out of Edo State. |
I stay in Lagos but i can't stay in Ayobo, too far from the center where its all happening. I'm very aware that remote areas on outskirts are usually the last areas to receive development and Ayobo is an example. |
jmaine: Starting on this mode won't augur well for your course. . .You seem to ignore the fact the some of those places you mentioned harbor some of the popular and humiliating slums in Lagos . .E.g the Makoko - Iwaya axis . .Calabar State will jump at an opportunity to have an area like Yaba even if Makoko comes with the package. What goes on in Calabar?? When i need a rest, maybe I'll come sleep there but Lagos is where its all happening. Yeah, its noisy, crowded and such but i won't trade it for those sleepy locations where nothing happens. I would feel as if the world is leaving me behind while i'm busy smiling sheepishly in a serene environment....When i'm not an Old retiree. |
Afam4eva: And what point are you trying to prove with the pics? Is that all the roads on the mainland. Most roads on the mainland are really bad and need urgent attention. A case in point is the road that leads to Adeniyi Jones from Ogba.Hmmmm....U just gave me a good idea, I'll go round whenever I'm free and take pics. That Adeniyi jones link road truely is bad but you can't point at another bad road in that area. All the rest are good. |
abifoluwa: dude this is not about lagos state or his state, this is a very bad road, when people criticize your government, be happy, it makes them work better. Even if its out of hatred, trust me, it sure helps. This is a bad road, and fashola should do something about it, Quicklysee my first post on my experience on that road. I'm refering to that dude i quoted that was trying to mock the situation. |
strangest: please list the 10, am waiting...(1) Yaba (2) Surulere (3) Maryland (4) Obanikoro (5) Ikeja (6) Ogudu (7) Magodo axis ( Gbagada (9) Ojodu (10) Ogba... I didn't even have to leave my car to snap the pix of where i am.

Sincere 9gerian: When you guys mention Barth Nnaji this, and that, I begin to wonder whether Barth Nnaji went home with some power plants when he was sacked. Too much sentiments and emotions is at play in this country. I acknowledge that Barth Nnaji worked very hard as power minister but to now equate his sack with drop in power supply is to say the least ridiculous. How does anyone expect sustainable improvement in power supply with a mere 4,000mw or so for a population of 160million people? What happens is that as the country generation capacity hits NEW PEAK, there's temporary improvement in power supply. That improvement is soon swallowed up in SOME areas by more demand. It will continue to happen that way until generation capacity far exceed both ACTIVE demand and POTENTIAL demand for electricity. Active and potential demand today should be around 10,000 to 15,000megawatts. Only then shall we have sustained stable power supply.I don't know if Barth Nnaji hid some megawatts up his a*sehole when leaving office but "RIGHT NOW", GEJ's promise of electricity is sh*t. Its worse and that's the "FACT" regardless of what you say or think. |
Afam4eva: The Lagos state government doesn't really care about the mainland not to talk of Ayobo. You guys keep saying this but i can list 10 or more locations on the mainland that looks better and is more developed than the places that make you proud of your state....whatever state it is apart from FCT. |
biafran soul: lol, Fashola is working and lagosians are suffering. The equivalent of Ayobo in your state will surely have its residents riding bicycles to their farms and fetching water from streams. God help them if they'll even have electricity. |
That road has to be a major blind-spot in Fashola's administration. I heard the money was diverted to fund the Osun election, don't know how true this is though. I drove there late last year and returned with a knocking sound from my car's suspension and my bumper in my boot. A lot of residents there use SUVs. |
"I don't know where the yatch is" another way of saying "Where the Yatch is is none of your business". |
Since the removal of Barth Nnaji, the electricity supply in my area has nose dived and its at an all time low. Where is the "Fresh Air" promised in this sector Apart from this and the fuel price increase, there's no other GEJ's policies that has affected me. I'm being honest here and not trying to bring him down. |
