It may be the main one depending on where you live. I am not a christian and would not like somebody else's religious beliefs shoved down my throat in other aspects of my life. Let there be separation of church and state. There are many religious buildings in every street corner in Nigeria. Let them work their miracle for Nigeria from there. If people cannot practice what they learned from the church or mosque or whatever the buildings they worship from, I do not think it will make a difference if it incoporated in politics. The main problem is lack of discipline and lawlessness. That is just opening more room for religious conflicts and riots all over Nigeria. I think we should focus on Law and Order with strengtening the judicial system and re-modelling the Police force to do their jobs properly in Nigeria. Religion is not the answer. You can imagine if someone like the well known "Reverend King" has some political clout Or some Sharia law in politics You can only imagine what fanatical state we would be in now with killings and all types of scandals all over the place in the name of religious beliefs!!! |
It really does not matter where anyone goes to get a bride or a groom. The only problem is that there is very little room for courtship, to really know yourselves enough to make a logical decision about marriage when anyone gets involved in a bi-continental affair. Culture shock will test the relationship. A lot of hard work involved too! You can never know what is in another person's mind no matter how they pretend. Only time will tell and there may be enough time to make things work be compromising. Bi-continental relationships are very risky. I say that while nothing is impossible the chances of success are very slim and the risks involved are high. You never know what you are getting into. This is for individuals who like a high element of surprise and adventure in their lives. Bottom line---success depends on "the will of God"! If it is meant to be, then it will succeed. Look before you leap. At least spend time with your prospective partner before making a final decision. |
romeo: k0be:Okay! No point in arguing with you guys. You will learn the hard way. Please, this thread is long enough now. I will leave for someone else to keep it alive, Goodluck. Do yourselves a favor. Try and travel out more often outside Nigeria--you lack exposure. Enjoy! |
@Topic Very very boring!!!! Like the contents of the Bible will change or something Same old same old Genesis to Revelation and some missing parts I believe. I feel you jare! Good thing I do not have to go if I do not want to since my parents can't force me to go there anymore. |
We have already discussed all that. We as Nigerians need to educate ourselves on how to behave in different cultures. So that we are not misundertood by our actions. We have to learn how to conduct ourselves in Nigeria and outside Nigeria. I think this is simple enough for all to understand. This is not a wrong or right scenario. We can avoid these types of incidents from happening by following simple instructions and avoid unnecessary arguements with law enforcement agents. |
Just learn not to make the same mistake "Osuofia" and his friends made---that's all. First you have to recognize what the real problem is here. But most of you are not ready to do that. When you recognize what the problem is, then a solution will come clearly to mind. |
Nothing new here-----moving on the next topic. Gosh---Nairaland is boring today! ![]() |
Hmmm! Some still have no solutions to the problems and still feel unhappy about the "Osuofia" incident ![]() |
@topic Lifelong slavery! Without any possiblity of freedom for the "wife" or "girlfriend"! ![]() |
No wonder 72% of Nairalanders according to the survey are still single!!!! ![]() |
Thank you Gamine!!! It was really getting boring around here!!! All the "great" people have left and uninteresting topics are everywhere! This is so refreshing. I disagree though! There are too many religions in any given country. So when you invite religion into politics, education and any other institution, you are inviting trouble. Is christianity the only religion in Nigeria for example? |
Sometimes it is difficult to say!!!! |
Mamajama:Sorry? Have you read what you wrote to see how disrespectful you sound? You can express your love to people who care for that kind of language ok? I DON'T!!!! What if I made such a statement to you of that nature? You will be the first to say something smart---------looking for cheap sympathy like you always do!!!! Like you know it all!!!! I do not make disrespectful comments to people generally speaking-------no matter how low they may be. I did not disrespect anyone--but only aired my view like most of you run around and do most of the time here unchecked. You boasted a while back that you were "pursuing" some degree in LAW right? You need to start acting like you are----------so the degree---LAW-- does not start "pursuing" you!!!!! This only confirms my suspicions that Seun, the owner of this web site, will watch his favorite "kids" run around here unchecked and turn around and censure others. I really don't care about that, afterall it is his website---So that's all well and good!!!! Keep up with your insults!!!! Like father, like son!!!! Are we surprised ![]() |
You think this is appropriate to post this here? |
beetintin:Thanks a million!!!! "egoldman" pretended to be "reasonable, helpless and defenseless" in the beginning. I guess it did not take long for his true nature to unfold--------to join the band wagon of "insulters". It only took less than a page of this thread to start spewing insults!!!! Why the pretence in the first place Could have saved us a lot of time. |
desgiezd:I think everyone has a basic right to choose which environment is better for his or her family!!! I am sure we all love Nigeria regardless of what we say about it. Sometimes when we express ourselves--we get emotional and the message is often lost! egoldman:----------AND WHAT ABOUT YOU? Listen!!! And Listen good!!! Or should I say read and read good!!! I am not Militia that you chose to disrespect at every turn in your life because you have nothing better to do with your time. I never called your reasoning "stupid" and you better watch what you are writing to fellow people like you on this thread. I really could not care less if you started the thread. All I am saying is that do not address me and use the same word "stupid" in the same sentence. You need to learn some manners ok ? You also need to respect other peoples' views because the whole world has never revolved around you and never will. That is Militia's opinion and just like yours I have no problem with it. DO NOT USE INSULTIVE WORDS ON OTHERS!!!!! We can comment on each others' write-ups amicably without all this frustration. If you do not like it then ----------- step!!!! angel101:Yup!!! That is why you are you and I am me!!!!! We can have different opinions and not a wrong or right situation----It is a matter of choice. Do not have to agree with you and you do not have to agree with me! |
angel101:Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! All this vernom for a prodigal child called "Nigeria"!!! Next time teach your child "Nigeria" how to conduct it's self outside and inside of "Nigeria" so it does not bring you the disgrace that is almost causing you to have a "cyber heart attack" now! If we love our children, we will correct them when they are straying not reward them with all goodies and praises---------even when they come last in class. We do that because they are a reflection on us. |
Echidime:Not much I believe. But I also think that it also implied that you should judge not so ye shall not be judged!!!! and he that is without sin should cast the first stone!!!!! This is a case of the greatest sinners casting not only stones but avalanches of boulders at others! |
Lets just say it is a necessary evil!!!! Sometimes good and sometimes not so good! All we pray for is that the good times are more than the "not so good" times!!! Just enough to be a "successful marriage"!!! With children involved, you have to work 10 times harder so they do not feel any sad impact of the slightest "disunion"!!!!! |
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! I give up!!!! |
What have Nigerians done for Nigeria We cannot remain "beggars" for life you know!!! No one has established guilt or innocense in this Oprah case so why are we taking sides![]() |
ebos:But is this not sheer arrogance on our part ![]() |
It is very easy to see that Jesus Christ will be "persecuted" again when he comes for the second or third time to save the world---or so He plans!!! Even when there is a ray of hope that "Oprah" might be innocent-----some are still crying "CRUCIFY HER, CRUCIFY HER!!!! Nigeria really has a long way to go!!! We are so filled with hate, that good things continue to elude us. What it will take for us to reason like "normal" people is still a difficult task for God to understand!!!!! It is a shame!!!!! |
Why is it that we do not investigate things properly before we pass judgement These same people heaping insults will come back and apologise to God and Man alike for all the terrible things they have said about this woman. I wonder how your children are raised. Do you attack teachers and principals in schools when your child complains to you that "he or she" was scolded by them It shows you will not even bother to find out what your child did before you disgrace yourself by opening your mouths in public----------What types of example are you setting for your children for heaven's sake ? IT IS BETTER TO BE SILENT AND THOUGHT A FOOL, THAN TO OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND CLEAR ALL DOUBT!!!!! Make una take am easy with the insults. You are concerned about Nigeria's image and what do you think the world will think with all this nonsense going on here I guess most of you do not care afterall!!! Na wah oh!!!!! |
"Mosorire"----------by Paul Play!!!!! Can't get enough of it!!!!!! |
Yes, the truth is very, very bitter!!!! We need to try to make our country more desirable to us instead of accepting what has shamefully become the "norm"!!! May God grant us courage to fight those things that keep us from progressing. May God touch every Nigerian's heart to only do those things that will make Nigerians proud inside and outside Nigeria!!!!!! This is terrible!!!!! ![]() |
I am not surprised about some of the things being wriitten here! You guys are truly Nigerians!!!!! ![]() Even if Oprah said this or that---resorting to insults is never the best way to settle any grievance. The laughable part is that most of you call yourselves part-time"christians" and my God just read what some of you are writing here. I wonder sometimes if there is any hope for us? What Oprah said or did not say pales in comparism to what some of you are writing here. It is truly disgraceful!!!! Getting verbally abusive and emotionally worked up for nothing will not solve the problem.@Militia You are too funny!!!! ![]() |
I think Militia has made some good points here. Please you guys should look at the article and reason from both sides. Instead of complaining without recommending better ways that this situation can be avoided in the future!!!!! Is it not possible that these Nigerians were disorderly? Why not get both sides of the story if possible and here what made the police act this way. Most of you remind me of parents who wiill get very angry at teachers or principals in schools for scolding your children. The first thing you will do is to attack the teacher or principal before asking for an explanation as to what happened. What kind of examples are you setting for children? We were not there when this incident occurred, so why do you think you can take it hook, line and sinker? Please guys, be reasonable and do an investigation properly before you make a decision on what you want to say or do!!!!! It is not impossible that some of the actions of these artistes were misunderstood be the police in the Netherlands. We need to find ways to avoid such embarrasing incidents in the future---PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!!!!!! |

Or some Sharia law in politics
