@Cayon Salam Sister. This is kindda inappropriate fi me to ask my brotha so I am asking youThanks so much for that question. I want you to first understand one thing, it is not allowed and a sin for a muslim to have sex before marriage let alone during Ramadhan but a married couple can have sex only on the night of fasts during the month of Ramadhan (non-fasting hours). The sex must not be during fasting but after breaking of fast, observe the your prayers but anything called 'sex' must stop before eating sawn (pre-dawn meal) with a bath before the next day's fast. Narrated 'Alqama: "While I was walking with 'Abdullah he said, "We were in the company of the Prophet and he said, 'He who can afford to marry should marry, because it will help him refrain from looking at other women, and save his private parts from looking at other women, and save his private parts from committing illegal sexual relation; and he who cannot afford to marry is advised to fast, as fasting will diminish his sexual power." (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 31, Number 129)" If a couple have sex during the valid hours in the sacred month (during the non-fasting hours), then each should wash their entire body (take a shower) to become clean for the next fasting day. Failing to do so, will result them to become unclean and their fasting would not be valid Quran 2 v 187: "Permitted to you, on the night of the fasts, Is the approach to your wives. They are your garments And ye are their garments. Allah knoweth what ye Used to do secretly among yourselves; But He turned to you And forgave you; So now associate with them, And see what Allah Hath ordained for you, And eat and drink, Until the white thread Of dawn appear to you Distinct from its black thread; Then complete your fast Till the night appears; But do not associate With your wives While ye are in retreat In the mosques. Those are Limits (set by) Allah: Approach not nigh thereto. Thus doth Allah make clear His Signs to men: that They may learn self-restraint. Quran 4 v 43: "O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For God doth blot out sins and forgive again and again. |
Salam. Please this message you termed 'message from Saudi Arabia' has no truth in it. I received this message years ago and here it is still being circulated. We should try to run away from false information that has no Islamic basis. It is unislamic and we should be very careful of the kinda of message we circulate. So many a times I have received and still receiving messages that, 'somebody sent many copies and his life changed for the better while someone that ignored it, regretted doing it etc'. THIS IS PURELY UNISLAMIC, COMPOSED BY LIARS AND WE SHOULD ESCHEW THIS KINDA MESSAGE. We have the Quran, Hadith, Sunnah as our guide and the prayers of the Holy Prophet (saw) where we can supplicate for whatever we may be needing. May Allah guide us and increase our knowlegde. |
Jazakullah Marod for that post |
Achieving Piety through Fasting (O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint.) (Al-Baqarah 2:183) Islam teaches that the purpose of fasting is not to make people hungry and thirsty, or to deprive them some of their comfort and conveniences. The real purpose of fasting, according to Islam, is to learn piety. Piety is highly emphasized in the Quran and Sunnah. There are more than 158 verses in the Quran on piety, and there are hundreds of hadiths on this subject. Muslim scholars see piety as being Islam itself. It is the total sum of all Islamic values and virtues. If one has piety, one has achieved everything. Piety is the consciousness of God. It is to do one's best efforts to live by His commands and to avoid His prohibitions. The Quran has used the word piety to mean consciousness of God, fear of God, worship of God, sincerity in faith, and avoidance of disobedience to God. How does fasting build the character of piety according to the Islamic worldview? Let us look at some of the things that a fasting person is supposed to do, and see how they are related to the concept and spirit of piety. 1. Unlike Prayers, charity, and pilgrimage, fasting is an invisible act. According to Islam, only God and the person who is fasting know whether he or she is fasting or not. One may quietly eat or drink something and no one will notice and no one can find out. However, the fasting person has made this commitment for the sake of God and he or she wants to guard the purity of his or her fast for the sake of God. Fasting thus teaches sincerity and it helps a person learn to live by the principles of his or her faith regardless whether others know or do not know. This is the very purpose and essence of piety. 2. Food and sexual intercourse are two needs and desires that are essential for human survival and growth, but they can become easily corruptive and disruptive if they are not properly controlled and disciplined. Piety requires observing the rules of God when one eats and when one enjoys sexual relations. Fasting teaches how to control and discipline these desires. 3. The world is full of temptations. It takes a lot of discipline to say "no" to something that is very tempting but not good for us. During fasting we learn how to say "no" to things that are otherwise permissible and good, but are forbidden during fasting. When one learns how to say "no" to that which is generally permissible, then one can easily control oneself to avoid that which is forbidden. This is the spirit of piety. 4. People generally care for themselves and their families, but they often ignore the needs of others. Those who are wealthy do not feel the pain and suffering of those who are hungry, homeless, and living in poverty. Through fasting we taste — to some extent — the pain and suffering of those who are poor and destitute. Fasting teaches empathy and sympathy, and it takes away some of our selfishness and self-centeredness. This is the spirit of piety. 5. When Muslims fast together in the month of Ramadan, it builds an atmosphere of virtues, brotherhood and sisterhood. They come closer to their Creator and also come closer to each other. Unity, peace, harmony, brotherhood and sisterhood are the fruits of piety. In Ramadan, Muslims enjoy these fruits as they learn to grow in piety. |
A QUICK REMINDER! What Is Your Objective in Ramadan? Here comes Ramadan - A Blessed Month in Which a Night is Better than a Thousands months. Alhamdulillahi, for Allah's Mercy, giving us another opportunity to witness this year Ramadhan. May Allah accept all our ibadah in this glorious month. For one’s life to be meaningful, it has to have a goal that is worked toward or striven for. If one leads all of one’s life without a goal to be achieved or an end to be reached, all of one’s life goes with the wind. This is true of all people, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. But for a Muslim, this issue has much more value, as the end-goal is to attain Allah’s pleasure and to be granted admission to Paradise in the Hereafter. Based on this, true Muslims should have an objective for both their whole life and their individual deeds during every minute that they stay on earth. No one can deny the fact that Allah designed and subjugated the creation in order for man to fulfill the objective he was originally created for, which can be seen in Allah’s saying in His Ever-Glorious Qur’an: [And I (Allah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone). I seek not any provision from them (i.e. provision for themselves or for My creatures) nor do I ask that they should feed Me (i.e. feed themselves or My creatures).] (Adh-Dhariyat 51:56-57) In addition, Allah Almighty gives man one chance after another to come back to Him and seek the straight path. As for Muslims, Allah gave them the month of Ramadan as a great opportunity to increase their potential good deeds and decrease their sinful ones, to help them attain Paradise in the Hereafter. Ramadan is the month where the reward for good deeds is multiplied manifold by the grace of Allah. Thus, it is a real opportunity to overcome the obstacles of life and the malicious schemes of Satan. Set a goal for yourself in Ramadan which you will do your best to achieve. Let that goal be to save yourself from Hellfire and to enjoy Allah’s pleasure and salvation during that noble month. In order for you to achieve that lofty goal, you will have to stop with yourself at some important stations. These stations go as follows: With Fasting Let your objective this Ramadan be that you abstain from all that is prohibited for you by Allah. So do not cheat or lie or backbite or usurp others’ properties or gaze at what Allah has prohibited (the opposite sex). It is well-known that fasting is of three degrees: 1. Abstaining from food, drink, and intimate intercourse. 2. Keeping your ears, eyes, tongue, hands, and feet, and all other bodily organs free from sins. 3. Avoiding occupying your heart with unworthy concerns and worldly thoughts, and upholding nothing in your heart but Allah the Almighty. So, what holds you back from drawing nearer to Allah and being one of those very few people who observe fasting of that third and special degree? With Standing in the Night in Prayer Have an objective this Ramadan to perform a minimum of eight rak`ahs in Prayer after `Isha’ and before Fajr in addition to Shaf` and Witr. Do not let anything prevent you from performing these precious rak`ahs every night in Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said the following: It is highly recommended for you to observe Qiyam al-Layl (Night Prayer), for it was the practice of your righteous predecessors. Qiyam al-Layl brings you closer to your Lord, atones for your sins, drives disease from your body, and stops transgression. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) With the Qur’an Be keen on finishing reading the whole Qur’an at least once during the month of Ramadan. Recite at least one of its 30 parts every day. What if you are not that good at reading the Qur’an? You should not despair or be disappointed, for there is still a chance for you to gain reward from Allah. This can be achieved by listening directly to one who has better recitation, listening to a recording, or listening to a radio station. Spending your time listening to Qur’anic recitation is also good and rewarding. With Ties of Kinship During Ramadan, you should be keener on being connected with your family and relatives, especially those whom the vicissitude of life prevents continual communication with. Spend some money on getting reconnected with them. You may assign, let us say, little amount of money for this purpose. Imagine, this tiny sum of money could bring you together with all your relatives! It will also bring you nearer to Allah the Almighty. Also, in so doing, try to remember the hadith in which Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a person said this: “Allah’s Messenger, I have relatives with whom I try to have a close relationship, but they sever (this relation). I treat them well, but they treat me ill. I am sweet to them but they are harsh towards me.” Upon this he (the Prophet) said, “If it is so as you say, then you in fact throw hot ashes (upon their faces) and there would always remain with you on behalf of Allah (an angel to support you) who would keep you dominant over them so long as you adhere to this (path of righteousness).” (Muslim) With Charity Let there be a charity that you give to in Allah’s cause every day in Ramadan. The reward for charity and all other good deeds is multiplied manifolds in Ramadan. This is one of the blessings of this auspicious month. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said, “Give out charity, for it guarantees your salvation from Hellfire” (At-Tabarani). However, what if you do not know one or it is not that easy for you to access a charity every day? You could try to gather and combine your charity every 10 days, for example, and then give it out at once. With Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah) Keep your tongue wet with the continuous remembrance of Allah. Remembrance of Allah is one of the best kinds of worship that is due for Allah, as well as one of the easiest kinds of worship for those for whom Allah makes it easy. The story of Hudair, one of the Prophet’s Companions who was persistent in remembering Allah during one of the great battles of early Islam, is a good example of the reward Allah Almighty has set for those who remember Him very frequently. It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forgot to give Hudair his provision for the journey, but the remembrance of Allah removed his need for food for several days, till the Angel Jibreel descended to inform the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about his case. The Prophet sent another companion after Hudair carrying the necessary provision for him. With Supplication A true Muslim should be keen on using “the believer’s weapon,” du`aa’ (supplication to Allah), in every situation. This is true of every situation that occurs for a Muslim in daily life. During fasting, stick to making du`aa’, because in this state you are nearer to Allah and your supplications are more likely to be accepted. Thus, you should make du`aa’ to Allah all the time and not forget that Allah responds to the invocations of the supplicant when he or she calls on Him sincerely from the heart. Allah says in His Ever-Glorious Qur’an: [And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad—peace be upon him) concerning Me then (answer them) I am indeed near (to them by My knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.] (Al-Baqarah 2:186) Finally, let your other objective in Ramadan be to set your head free from things that can take you to Hellfire, by doing all the aforementioned things; they are so easy for those for whom Allah makes them easy. A Ramadhan Checklist 1. Ask Allah to enable you to reach Ramadan and to get the most out of it as the Salaf used to do. 2. Intend to fast every day with Iman and pure intention seeking the reward from Allah alone. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever fasts in Ramadan with Iman and seeking reward (from Allah) his past sins will be forgiven". (Bukhari) 3. Read the whole Qur'an at least once as the Prophet peace be upon him did. 4. Have Suhoor as the Prophet peace be upon him said, "Have Suhoor because it is blessed". 5. Make Du'a during the fast because the Prophet peace be upon him said that three people's supplication is not rejected one of them is the fasting person. Ask for the good of this life and the next for yourself, your family and Muslims in general. 6. Make Dua before opening the fast. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "The fasting person has a supplication that is answered when he opens his fast". 7. Give Sadaqah and be good to people. The Prophet peace be upon him was the most generous of people and he was most generous in Ramadan. 8. Avoid anything that diminishes the fast such as, lying, backbiting, cheating, getting angry. The Prophet peace be upon him said "Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink." [Bukhari] 9. Do not eat too much after Iftar. 10. Ask for forgiveness since this is the month Allah frees people from the fire. 11. Pray At-Tarawih with Khushoo. If you pray in the Masjid complete the Salah with the Imam. If you pray at home prolong the Salah as long as you can. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever prays during Ramadan with Iman and seeking reward (from Allah) his past sins will be forgiven". 12. Feed the poor and invite others for Iftar. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever gives Iftar to someone fasting he will have the same reward without decreasing the reward of the person fasting". 13. Try harder the last ten nights especially the odd nights. The prophet would strive in Ramadan more than he would in any other month and more so in the last ten days. 14. Say this Dua in the nights that Laitul-Qadr is likely to fall on:Allhumma innaka afuwun tuhibbul-afwa fa'fu anni (O Allah you are Forgiving and love forgiveness so forgive me). 15. Ask Allah to accept all your good actions during this month. RAMADHAN KAREEM english.islamway.com |
Some people still prefer to show their ignorance publicly muslims obey sharia law more than God's law. I don't think they are worshipping the true God. what do you think? you |
@Queenisha This is obviously a tough time for you and the worst thing you can do is wear this stress on your sleeves because it'll affect everything you do including your work and being in sales you need to be upbeat or you'll repel your customers. You post as if you lack reasoning. What has acceptance of Jesus got to do here? Dont we have christians that claim to believe in Jesus yet facing problems more than this. Get out of here if you have nothing sensible to say. Many have gone to Jesus but their problems worsened rather being solved. |

Practical Tips in Preparation for Ramadan All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Brothers and Sisters in Islam, may you have a happy and blessed Ramadan! Ramadan is a month of discipline, self-control, patience, and good behavior. In Ramadan, Muslims are expected to gain the fruits of fasting, namely, piety and consciousness of Allah. In this context, Allah Most High says in the Glorious Qur'an, (O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off evil).) (Al-Baqarah 2: 183) Ramadan is the most blessed month in the Islamic calendar. It is primarily a spiritual training course intended to help us cultivate essential virtues and skills in order to lead a meaningful life. Most often we live at a very superficial level of our existence, forgetting our true essence and identity as human beings. In other words, we become totally preoccupied with the physical and material dimensions, forgetting the spiritual core of our personalities. Ramadan, therefore, comes to remind us of who we truly are and how we can discipline ourselves in such a way that we are fully awake to our full spiritual potential. In order to benefit from the blessed month of Ramadan and its spiritual regimen, I suggest that we focus on the following: 1. Welcome Ramadan with great fervor and spirit and expect to come out of it fully transformed in body, mind, and soul. 2. Perform all of the acts of worship while being fully awake to their inner dimensions and meanings. Most often we allow ourselves to go through these rituals as mere mechanical chores with the result that we gain virtually no benefit from them either spiritually or morally. 3. Let your fasting be a fasting of body, mind, and soul. As Imam Ghazali said, the vast majority of people fast only for namesake. For while staying away from food, drink, and sexual gratifications, their minds, eyes, ears, tongue, and other faculties feast on haram (unlawful matters). Therefore, in order to gain any true benefit from our fasts, we need to impose a total self-restraint upon all our faculties and stay away from all sinful and idle thoughts, words, and actions, and nurture the thought and remembrance of Allah. 4. Ramadan is not merely a month of fasting. It is rather a season to cultivate all sorts of virtues and good habits. It is the perfect opportunity to break free of all negative habits that have been holding us back from achieving the true happiness and perfection that is ours as a birthright. So seize the opportunity and focus on achieving real goals to make it a true life-changing and life-enhancing experience. 5. Ramadan is the month of empathy and generosity. In fact, one of the main purposes of fasting is to instill in us empathy for the poor and the less deprived. By exposing us to compulsory hunger, we are given a practical lesson in hunger and thirst and thus we become better motivated to empathize with the poor. Hence we are ordered to practice the optimum level of charity in the month of Ramadan. 6. Ramadan is the time to familiarize ourselves with the Qur’an, the true source of guidance, illumination, healing, and mercy—Allah’s perfect gift to humanity. We can only do justice to the Book when we go beyond merely chanting and memorizing it to reflecting and meditating upon the Revealed Word and respond to it in true spirit by acting upon its teachings. 7. One of the main purposes of all of the acts of worship in Islam is to cultivate in us a true sense of community and spirit of fellow humanity. Therefore, it is imperative that our compassionate words and acts be extended not only towards ourselves but also towards all of Allah’s creation. Let us pray that we come out of Ramadan with our faith recharged, gaining strength in our faith and commitment and relationship with Allah. Maa Salam |
Quick preparation for RAMADAN 1. Start reading Quran daily after Salat al-Fajr. 2.Spend some time listening to recitations from the Quran. 3.Train yourself to go bed early so that you can wake up far Salat al-Fajr. 4.Keep yourself in a state of Wudu (Ablution) most of the time. 5.Evaluate yourself daily before going bed. 6.Thank Allah for good deeds, and repent to Him for your mistakes and sins. 7.Start giving Sadaqah daily, no matter how little. Make it a habit like eating and drinking. 8.Find time to pray extras, such as Tahajjud prayers. 9.Spend more time reading Islamic books, especially the Quran, Hadith, and Fiqh. 10.Find time to help others with your wisdom, knowledge and other talents. 11. Try to write articles on Islam for Muslims as well as for non-Muslims. 12.Associate with Muslim scholars / ulama and other pious people so that you may learn from them. 13.Train yourself to do good, render free service to others to seek the pleasure of Allah. What to avoid 1. Avoid/reduce watching TV; instead spend more time reading the Quran and other Islamic literature. 2. Avoid looking at unlawful pictures, whether magazines, department store catalogs or otherwise. 3.Spend free time in Masajid, Islamic organizations and make that a daily habit. 4 .If you smoke, try to reduce daily usage; otherwise Ramadan will be very difficult for you to observe. 5 .If you have friends who do not practice the teaching of Islam, try to avoid socializing with them. 6 . If you travel a lot on business, try to do more local business, so you can be more closer to your family and community. 7 . If you are used to staying up till midnight, try to go to bed earlier, so that you will be able to wake up early for Salat al-Fajr and Tahajjud prayers as well. To prepare ourselves before the month of Ramadan arrives is far better than waiting till it comes. To prepare ourselves for anything in life is a sign of wisdom and maturity. No one is assured of living one day more; tomorrow may not come. So hurry and benefit from blessings and rewards from Allah. Remember: "Time is not money or gold; it is life itself and is limited. You must begin to appreciate every moment of your life and always strive to make the best use of it." A Quick Checklist 1. Make a resolve to win the maximum favor of Allah by performing extra Voluntary prayers (Nawaafil), making frequent Dua and increased remembrance (Dhikr). 2. Try to recite some Holy Quran after every Prayer. In fact if you read 3-4 pages after every Prayer you can easily finish the entire Quran in Ramadan! 3. Study the Tafseer (commentary) every morning. 4. Invite a person you are not very close with or your relatives to your home for Iftaar, at least once a week (Weekend). You will notice the blessings in your relationships! 5. Bring life to your family! Everyday, try to conclude the fast with your family and spend some quality time together to understand each other better. 6. Give gifts on Eid to at least 5 people: 2 to your family members, 2 to your good friends, and 1 to a person whom you love purely for the sake of Allah. 7. Make commitment to join Islamic study circles to learn more about Islam and improve your own life. 8. Donate generously to the Masajid, Islamic organizations, and any where people are in need or oppressed. "Because Ramadan, is a month of sharing!" 9. Share month of Ramadan and its teachings of peace and patience with your neighbors. 10.Sleep little, eat little! Make sure you do not defeat the purpose of fasting by over-indulging in food and being lazy. 11.Seek the rare and oft-neglected rewards of the night better than 1000 months ( Laylatul-Qadr / Shab-e-Qadr) . 12.Weep in private for the forgiveness of your sins: Ramadan is the month of forgiveness and Allah's Mercy! It's never too late. 13. Learn to control your tongue and lower your gaze. Remember the Prophet's (pbuh) warning that lying, backbiting, and a lustful gaze all violate the Ramadan fast! 14. Encourage others to enjoin and love goodness, and to abandon everything that Allah dislikes. Play the role of a Da'ee (one who invites to Allah) with zeal, passion, and sympathy. 15.Experience the joy of Tahajjud prayers late at night and devote yourself purely and fully to Allah in the Itikaf retreat during the last 10 days of Ramadan Continue the above practice till next Ramadan and so on. Maa Salam |
Salam @Fellis Check your mail box for my response but can still mail me for any grey area you dont understand. Though I may be not be online like I used to as a result of fasting, reading the Quran, attending lectures, Iftar etc but would try to once in a while because the reward therein is once in every Islamic year and I cant afford to miss the great chance |
Salam all Please Muslims should avoid time fixing because I already heard some people saying that some mosques/leaders would start theirs on a particular day meaning that they would not be concerned if its really starting before or after the time given by their respective leaders but would do what their leaders told them. |
@Lady The questions I asked were in the Trinity thread. You should be able to serve the questions here regardless of whether you have asked it somewhere else. Besides, I asked for it, so you should be able to give me irrespective of where it is so that we continue with the discussion. You can go on with the "no crucifixion" proof that you have I can't wait to see it.I would definitely do that and would also ask you questions based on verses from your bible but would wait for the questions you claimed I didnt answer so that you wouldnt say I didnt answer you but wants you to answer my question His disciples were present, hello that's why they were able to write about it and one in particular was mentioned for a specific reason, but it's not for you to understand that yet.Oh, good, its beginning to get interesting . Do you have biblical proof to support the fact that they were present and we will also go into their accounts and see if they really witnessed it. Note that Luke was not a part of those that you would claim that witnessed it because he confessed that he received it from those that claimed to have witnessed it.The whole claim that the disciples did not believe that he rose from the dead is not found in the Bible, it is a calim and desperate attempt from muslims, I also addressed the claim that I know you will make above with frizy, go ahead and read it first before you make a fool of yourself.Never mind, we would really who is making fool of himself/herself between you and I as we proceed. We would see that if really his disciples believed in his resurrection,., supporting same with verses from your bible. um you must not have read the gospels to see that they returned to his tomb, that's when they saw that he was not there and then encountered him on the way back.Dont rush yourself. We will get there. In fact, it would even include the alleged story of not meeting him when they went looking for him. We would see if his disciples believed his resurrection when they were afraid hearing that he resurrected. you are the one making a claim, go ahead and posts up your "facts"Kai, if you know only what you are driving at, you would prefer to back off but never mind, we will continue as this happens to be the foundation of your faith. Provide your question again and we treat and after that, we go into the crucifixion story. (Its just that I may not be online like I used to due to Fasting but would still be coming online once in a while). One more thing, if you didnt hear from me one time, it doesnt mean that I backed out but using the time to meditate on Quran and learning a great deal about Islam but would always see your response in my mailbox. Salam ![]() |
@Mukina Thanks BabsYou are welcome but no chance for you o, its angel Bibs. ![]() |
@Lady Um the quran has baby Jesus saying that he will die and rise again. and no where did I say that the quran said that Jesus was crucified. Clearly that stance of muslims is well known. But here's the one about baby Jesus stating he will die.Did He say that he would be crucified? No one has ever been on the cross that didn't die. The point is to die. So there is no way a person wouldn't die when crucified. After brutally beating Joseph on the head and all over his body, the master laid him out on a wooden plank. He then nailed Joseph to the plank by driving nine-inch nails through his hands, knees and feet. He then poured acid on Joseph's legs to inflict even greater pain, and finally left him for dead." Miraculously, Joseph did not die, even though he lay on the plank for seven days. He survived through the kindness of his master's son, who brought him food and water, and eventually took him to a medical facility. http://www.assistnews.net/STORIES/2004/s04110038.htm Also: In the Philippines they use real nails. In fact, a man nailed to the cross does not die from his wounds. He dies, surprisingly from suffocation. Hanging just by your arms from a cross, your chest is compressed. It’s hard to breath without supporting your body weight on your legs. Over time, the strain on the legs and the pain make that impossible and you are unable to breath. In the Philippines the volunteers are brought down from their crosses within an hour. Death from crucifixion takes much longer, often several days. The only way to hasten death on the cross was to break the legs making it immediately impossible to support your weight and therefore to breathe. But we read in the bible that he died after taking vinegar that was supposed to have stimulating effect on him but died after taking it and his legs were not broken which would have sped up his death. (you are in for a big showdown with Babs )You mean there is a verse in the Bible that states that God would change his mind? Go ahead show me and let me be ashamed.Common, you dont play that kinda game with me. I gave you your quote and told you to read the emboldened words but you misinterpreted what you said earlier and in case you missed, this is your statement again: I get that one from common sense. If a person changes their mind they are not trustworthy and you cannot pay attention to their promises. You don't have to be a christian to know that one.Let us apply that to your bible and please what do we call the verses below? Exodus 32 v 14: "and Jehovah repenteth of the evil which He hath spoken of doing to His people." Genesis 6 v 6" and Jehovah repenteth that He hath made man in the earth, and He grieveth Himself -- unto His heart." Judges 2 v 18: "And when Jehovah raised up to them judges -- then was Jehovah with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repenteth Jehovah, because of their groaning from the presence of their oppressors, and of those thrusting them away." 2nd Samuel 24 v 16: "and the messenger putteth forth his hand to Jerusalem to destroy it, and Jehovah repenteth concerning the evil, and saith to the messenger who is destroying among the people, `Enough, now, cease thy hand;' and the messenger of Jehovah was near the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite." Go to the tomb of muhammad and you will see your allah dead.Read what you posted and see deceit therein. I have told you that I believe in facts be it form your book or mine and not just story telling in which you would not be able to defend. Prove your statement and all will be laid to rest. LOL. You never refuted it with any verse, you only showed how much you lacked understading of Christianity.I can still tell you that I started reading the bible before you could think of. I understand the religion perfectly and countered the verses on prophecy you falsely linked to Jesus, his alleged crucifiixion etc and here is the link again https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-146313.64.html You can still do better by not picking verses out of context and misinterpreting just like you did in that link up. Even you yourself were amazed at how the Christians won't give up christianity and I told you it's because it's the truth and because you've misinterpreted the Bible. What Christians are you referring to? Do not deceive yourself as God is not an author of confusion. Its not possible for God to send prophets with different religions. My case happened to be a perfect example of my journey from christianity to Islam and have stories of others that have left. So your argument above has no point. My late dad too happened to be another sweet story and I am very happy that he accepted Islam before his death. You can try as hard as you want, you will only continue to misinterpret the divine.Let me have the divine that wrongly interpreted and we look at together from your bible. Sorry, but you haven't done anything. Oh yeah, I didn't see why I should continue the conversation with you when you avoided answering my questions.Ok if thats how you want it, let me have the questions I avoided and we tackle it. Truth has come and faslehood is bound to perish. There is no compulsion in religion and truth stands from falsehood. Whoever sees and accept the truth, does so for his own soul and whoever rejects the truth does so at his own peril You wanted me to answer your questions but you refused to answer mine. de mama wey born you betta pass my mama? nonsense. That is your own cup of tea, I am not perturbed. ![]() you can't expect me to respect you when you don't respect me.Hey come off it. Tell me in what way I direspected you. Besides, I dont like people that cook up story and couldnt provide proof. The bible and Quran would be our guide as we proceed. Your respecting or disprespecting me has no impact on my status. It doesnt add nor subtract from my wealth, hapiness etc. |
@Lady you also didn't answer my question, why is that? you never answer my questions, instead you ignore them and jump to other things. comon man do better.Let me have your question please before I go into the alleged crucifixion of Jesus. When you supply your questions, dont forget to prepare yourself for proof that his disciples witnessed the alleged crucifion, why his disciples not believe that he had risen from the death, why they didnt return to Jeruslame to see his resurrection, where he was crucified (outside Jerusalem or in Jerusalem and some other questions, facts from your book etc You are welcome to my world ![]() |
@Lady Unfortunately God is not compared to human kings. See human kings are very pompous and proud, all the more reason why allah is human. Only a human can try to put himself above and beyond everyone. Only a human will distance himself from his sibjects. He lacks character.Point of correction, the Quran did not say he was crucified and do you care to give me verses to butress your quote above from the Quran? I told you in one of the thread that we need to revisit this hogwash of his crucifixion. Even better. How can he threaten crucifixion when it wasn't invented until later on and then by the romans. Oh by the way, the cross is from the quranDo you term it crucifixion if someone didnt die when crucified? No I get that one from common sense. If a person changes their mind they are not trustworthy and you cannot pay attention to their promises. You don't have to be a christian to know that one.Do you care if supply you verses going against your emboldened words from your book and you would surely be ashamed of your bible? ![]() Oh by the way make sure you pray hard, but I can assure you it won't come true. Why? your allah is dead.Good, so you have now joined the league of those that have been speaking without facts all these while. I can bet it with you that your lies are going to be exposed further as we proceed. Now give your facts showing that Allah that created all things even you that is nothibg in his presence is dead. The debate is just starting as a result of your blasphemous statement. Watch out and support your post with facts be it from your bible or my Quran and not just story tellingin which you have not been able to refutev just like tyhe thread on trinity. The thread on trinity where you and I have been discussed is still on and I waited for you to give me another verses after I have exposed the ones you linked to Jesus but you have not been able to do that and couldnt profer solution to the verses where Jesus distinguished himself from God. As we proceed, we will be teaching ourselves the real meaning and understanding of biblical verses but you shouldnt run when the going gets touch because you have murdered sleep with your lies as a result of your half baked Islamic knowledge. |
@Lady Go ahead. Oh yeah the one about his disciples saying no to his death or not believing in his death before he died does not prove that he didn't die. They didn't believe him until he actually died and came back to life. Why are you jumping the gun when I have not even said anything? Are you afraid to defend his alleged crucifixion? Oh I got it, you think I am referring to the Gospel of Peter or Barnabas? Far from it my dear, we are going to use the bible and nothing but the bible. |
@Lady Of all your post, I am highly interested in this part: Now it is up toyou to prove that Jesus didn't die. See I don't have to use the Bible to prove that Jesus died, I can use non-christian soruces but you, you can't prove that he didn't die at least not without the quran, and well we know that book is not just fuul of lies but also hisotrical errors. Now, we can go into his death using the bible alone without going the Quran and you would see that Jesus was never crucified. If you are up to the task, signify and let me know. I raised similar thread some time but you and I can start on a fresh note if you care. |
@James1 As for you Olabowale.think before you rush to your computer to type and past.Brother, must you post without due verification? It is better to keep mute than posting hogwash which you wouldnt be able to defend and you should know that all of us would be accountable for what we say and do. am sure i know the Quran more than you:for if you have trully read and studied the Quran you won't be this excited. You really showed that you know nothing about the Quran and not even your bible because if you, you would not come here and post what you couldnt stand to discuss. Pity you google things up,i don't.I can see that you lack knowledge and the best for you do to is to google it out and read. You shouldnt forget that your bible that says that 'my people persi hfor lack of knowledge' still go further saying 'prove all things and hold fast which is the truth' |
I still wonder why people post stupidly without thinking. What brought suicide bombing into this issue? I think my late Dad's case happened to be good example. My father died in one of the government hospitals. He died around 12pm on Thursday and we planned to bury him that day but the absence of his family member made it impossible for us. Along the line, we wre told by some of the patients, nurses therein that if a person dies there, they would not be allowed to be taklen away but would spend some weeks at the mortuary that they would need to carry out some tests on him. While contacting his family members, his corpse was whisked away to the mortuary without our consent. While communicating with his family members, we the children felt that we should bury him in one of his houses in Ogun State and made preparation to bury him there but before we could finish contacting his family members, it was around 5.30 so we thought that it would be advisable to delay it till next day since we have not heard from some of his family members. While doing this, we met some muslims and they told us that, they wanted to collect their corpse for burial and that its now up to 3 days and some even told us that they gave them some weeks to check back. So felt that it would be ideal to nip the situation i nthe bud before it would be too late. We went to the mortuary and was told that we have to wait for few weeks before we would be able to collect the corpse I headed straight for CMD office and while doing this, some of my fathers siblings have come and together we went there. I asked for the CMD and was told that he was not around, so I told the staff that if they love themselves, they should produce him or else they would not leave the office. My siblings and I contacted our different lawyers and along the line, we were told that its the Lagos State Govt law that corpse must not leave immediately but must carry out test on the corpse. Unknown to us, the CMD had been contacted and when coming, he came with some armed mopol and went inside together. The Cmd then first called my late Dad's elderly people and chat with them and called me in later and begged me that he heard everything and that since time had gone (around 6.30), we should come for the collection of the corpse the next day and begged us. So while leaving we saw mobile policemen stationed at the mortuary and some of the nurses challenged some of us that we cused chaos here, that we are trouble makers. The next day, we went there and collected the corpse without any argument. If he had died earlier and we were able to contact his family members, we would collect the corpse that day and nothing would happen. Later his family member told us that we should change the location and bury him in one of his houses in Lagos and we thought that God has a reason for delaying contacting his people till very late in the day. The government should look at the law and try modifying it rather than creating a law that aggravates citizens' problems @Davidylan Post sensibly |
@Virgo83 In A Complete, Purely Islamic Settings.I see nowhere here, posters claimed that Women can lead men in prayer. Of course, it is a known fact that a woman cannot lead men but can lead women of her type in the absence of men. I stand to be corrected I am preparing A Presentation on This Topic.Looking forward to reading that. |
Muslim's Manners and Duties A Muslim's life is nothing but total commitment to Allah. We are not only monotheists (people of tawheed) but we are also theo centric people. Surat Al-Israa' was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in Makkah after his Night Journey from Makkah to Jerusalem . In verses 23–39 of this surah, Allah mentions some basic commitments of Muslims. Without fulfilling these commitments, no individual or group can succeed. Muslims have to live by these values and should invite humanity to these principles. These principles are not limited to one race, tribe, or group; they are universal in their scope and application. These are also called the hikmah or the teachings of wisdom. It is wise for everyone to follow them. If followed properly, they are capable of increasing the goodness and wisdom of all people. These principles are as follows: 1. To worship Allah alone (Thy Lord hath decreed, that ye worship none save Him.) (Al-Israa' 17:23) This means to recognize Allah as the ultimate reality and to recognize Allah as the Lord, to worship Him with all sincerity and to submit to Him in every aspect of life. A Muslim's life is nothing but total commitment to Allah. We are not only monotheists (people of tawheed) but we are also theocentric people. Allah is the center of our life and He is our total and ultimate concern. 2. To be respectful and kind to parents (And (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word. And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little.) (Al-Israa' 17:23-24) This is to acknowledge the compassion and kindness of parents, to be grateful to them, and to do one's utmost to reciprocate that love and compassion. Filial piety and devotion is the second most important commitment of Muslims. Respect and kindness to parents is not just a social duty for us; it is our religious duty and obligation. 3. To be good to relatives, to the poor, and to the travelers (Give the kinsman his due, and the needy, and the wayfarer.) (Al-Israa' 17:26) This is to remember that we are interconnected in this world. Our responsibilities are not only towards ourselves and our immediate families, but also to other relatives and to the society at large. We are all in need of each other and we are all fellow travelers in this path of life. We must see what we can do for others. Muslims must live a socially responsible life. Social responsibility begins with the family and other relatives and it includes all those who are in need. 4. To be careful with money and not waste resources (And squander not (thy wealth) in wantonness. Lo! the squanderers were ever brothers of the devils, and the devil was ever an ingrate to his Lord … And let not thy hand be chained (like a niggard's) to thy neck nor open it with a complete opening, lest thou become blameworthy and destitute. Lo! thy Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will, and straiteneth (it for whom He will). Lo, He was ever Knower, Seer of His slaves.) (Al-Israa' 17:26-27, 29-30) One should be neither too tight with one's money nor too loose with it. Extravagance is not right, but also one should not become stingy and miserly. A Muslim is committed to the balanced life style. Money should be earned in halal (lawful) ways and it should be spent in the right manner. This principle can be applied to all resources that Allah has given us. Wise and conscientious use of resources is a very important commitment of Muslims. 5. To take good care of children (Slay not your children, fearing a fall to poverty, We shall provide for them and for you. Lo! the slaying of them is great sin.) (Al-Israa' 17:31) As we recognize the rights of the parents, we should also recognize the rights of children. Our children are our future. We must see that we raise healthy, intelligent and morally responsible children. Our commitment should be to raise them in safe and healthy environment. We must protect their life as well as their sprit and mind, their morals and manners. 6. To steer clear of adultery and illicit relations (And come not near unto fornication. Lo! it is an abomination and an evil way.) (Al-Israa' 17:32) Sexual perversions bring the greatest harm to individuals and societies. Observing the proper rules in this matter lead to health, happiness, and a good, moral society. Muslims are committed to pure, clean, and socially responsible lifestyle. Islam teaches that one should not come even close to adultery or fornication. This means proper dress codes for males and females, proper behavior in mixed societies, and proper control on social relations and entertainment. 7. To respect every life and not to kill anyone unless in the pursuit of justice (And slay not the life which Allah hath forbidden except for a just cause.) (Al-Israa' 17:33) This means that one should recognize the sanctity of all life and should not do anything that may jeopardize life. One should avoid aggression and violence, because these things lead to murder. Every Muslim must be committed to peaceful ways. Conflicts should be resolved by dialogue and negotiations, not by killings and murders. However, justice must be maintained, because just punishment brings safety and protects life. 8. To take care of the orphans (Come not nigh to the orphan's property except to improve it, until he attains the age of full strength (Al-Israa' 17:34)Orphans and all those who are vulnerable must be taken care of. Their rights must be recognized and they should be protected from all harm. A Muslim must be deeply committed to the care of the young, poor, infirm, and handicapped. Kindness and compassion is the basic commitment of a Muslim. It includes everyone and includes the animals. 9. To fulfill promises and commitments (And keep the covenant. Lo! of the covenant it will be asked.) (Al-Israa' 17:34) Promises and contracts are an important part of human life and human civilization. When promises are not kept, people lose trust in each other and the whole society becomes weak. Muslims must be true to their words. Our commitment must be to speak the truth and to be honest and when we make a pledge we must do our best to fulfill our pledges. 10. To be honest in business dealings and not cheat in weight or measurement (Give full measure when ye measure, and weigh with a balance that is straight: that is the most fitting and the most advantageous in the end.) (Al-Israa' 17:35) Honest business brings progress, success, and blessings. All business, whether commercial, social, or political must be done with a sense of justice and fairness. A Muslim is committed to fair dealing in every thing and with every one. Dealing with a Muslim means dealing with full confidence. A Muslim businessman should be the most truthful businessman. A Muslim worker should be the most honest worker. A Muslim in any profession should bring honor to that profession. 11. To do things with knowledge and not follow hearsay or act on half knowledge (follow not that whereof thou hast no knowledge. Lo! the hearing and the sight and the heart—of each of these it will be asked.) (Al-Israa' 17:36) The information agencies, the media, have a great responsibility. A lot of injustice is done when misinformation is given or information is misused. Muslims should be committed to truth in information. They should promote truthful and honest reporting about everyone, including their enemies. A report coming from a Muslim source should be the most trustworthy report. In a similar way, Muslims should be extremely careful with their actions and reactions. They should not react against everyone without proper evidence. 12. To be humble and have no arrogance (And walk not on the earth exultant. Lo! thou canst not rend the earth, nor canst thou stretch to the height of the mountains.) (Al-Israa' 17:37) Moderation and balance is the best thing in one's behavior as well as in one's attitude toward others. A Muslim is a dignified person, but he or she is humble. A Muslim is not boastful, arrogant, or vainglorious. A Muslim thanks Allah for all His gifts. For everything, the ultimate praise is for Allah and the real glory belongs to Allah. These are the basic commitments of Muslims as individuals and as people. These are the principles of wisdom and the universal values of Islam. When they are followed, they bring justice, peace, and happiness in this world and they will indeed bring success and salvation in the Hereafter. Let us all try to make these our real commitments. No Islam without Submitting To the Qur’an Human beings who do not know what humanity is and what the difference is between man and animal will inevitably indulge in behaviour unworthy of the human race and attach no value to being human. Similarly, people who do not know the true meaning of being Muslims and how a Muslim is different from a non-Muslim will behave like non-Muslims and will not be worthy of being Muslims. Every Muslim, adult or child, should therefore know what it means to be a Muslim, what difference being a Muslim must make to his life, what responsibilities devolve on him, and what limits are set by Islam within which a man remains a Muslim and by transgressing which he ceases to be a Muslim. Islam means submission and obedience to God. To entrust yourselves completely to God is Islam. To relinquish all claims to absolute freedom and independence and to follow God’s will iS Islam. To surrender your selves before the sovereignty of God is Islam. If you bring all the affairs of your lives under God you are Muslims and if you keep any of the affairs in your own hands or entrust them to someone other than God you are not Muslims. To bring your affairs under God means to accept unreservedly the guidance sent by God through His Book and His Messengers. It, therefore, becomes necessary to follow only the Qur’an and Prophet’s sunnah. Muslims follow no authority other than that of God, whether it be their reason or customs. In every matter they seek guidance from God’s Book and His Messenger to find what they should do not what they should not do. They accept without hesitation whatever guidance they get from there and reject whatever they find opposed to it. Such total surrender to God is what makes one a Muslim. By contrast, people are certainly not Muslims who, instead of following the Qur’an and the Sunnah, obey the dictates of their own reason and desires, follow the practices of their own reason and desires, follow the practices of their forefathers, accept what is happening in society, and never bother to ascertain from the Qur’an and Sunnah how to run their affairs, or refuse to accept the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah by saying: ‘They do not appeal to my reason’, or ‘They are against the ways of my forefathers’ or ‘The world is moving in an opposite direction’. Such people are liars if they call themselves Muslims. The moment you recite the Kalimah: ‘La ilaha illa’llah Muhammadu’ r-rasulu’ llah’, you accept that the only law you recognize is the law of God, only God is your sovereign, only God is your ruler, only God you will obey, and only the things given in God’s Book and by His Messengers are true and right. It means that as soon as you become Muslims you must renounce your authority in favour of God’s authority. Consequently, you have no right to say, ‘My opinion is this, the prevalent custom is this, the family tradition is this, that scholar and that holy person say this’. In the face of Allah’s word and His Messenger’s Sunnah, you cannot argue in this manner. You should judge everything in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah; accept what is in conformity with them and reject what runs counter to them, irrespective of the people who may be behind them. It is a contradiction in terms to call yourselves Muslims on the one hand, and, on the other, follow your own opinions or the customs of society or some person’s words or actions as against the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Just as a blind person cannot claim to have eyes, nor a deaf person to have ears, so a person who refuses to subordinate the affairs of his life to the dictates of the Qur’an and the Sunnah cannot call himself a Muslim. No one who does not want to be a Muslim can be compelled to be one against his will. You are free to adopt any religion you like and call yourselves by any names you like. But, once having called yourselves Muslims, you must fully understand that you can remain Muslims only as long as you stay within the bounds of Islam. These bounds are: to accept the word of God and His Messenger’s Sunnah as the ultimate criteria of truth and justice and to consider everything opposed to them as wrong. If you remain within these bounds you are Muslims, but if you overstep them you cease to be part of Islam. To continue, in such circumstances, to consider yourselves and call yourselves Muslims is tantamount to both self-deception of others. ‘Whose judges not according to what God has sent down, they are the unbelievers’ (al-Ma’idah 5: 44). |

The sickly girl should fast but when she feels exhausted, she should break it: "If a man succumbs to an illness which makes fasting very difficult for him and exhausts him and wears him out, he can break his fast. (Muwatta, Book 18, Number 18.15.41) |
Why Muslims should look for the Moon and not calculations for calendar. In recent years before Ramadan, Muslims in different states are in confusion on whether they should go by the Moon sighting or by using astronomical calculations. The reasons for this confusion are many, and that is not the purpose of this article, instead the purpose of this article is to see the clear evidences that using astronomical calculations instead of depending on Moon sightings is a major error that would lead to even things that are worst. First, we need to agree on some principals: 1- The sources of Tashree’ legislation in Islam are the Quran, the Sunnah, and Ijmaa’ consensus. These three principals are agreed upon among all Muslim Scholars. 2- To Say that something is not valid, it has to fulfill three conditions: a. It is forbidden in the Shariah. b. The Shariah came with the obligation to do what is opposite. c. The Shariah didn’t order such a thing when there was the need for it at the time of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy wa Sallam. 3- In matter of disputes and differences of opinions, we have no choice but to return to the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam. Allah Says: “ O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam, and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. And if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and suitable for final determination.” (3:59). Using one’s personal intelligence, opinions or any other thing are not valid when the matter has been decided in the Quran or the Sunnah of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam. 4- The only way Muslims would unite (which is a goal and a hope of every Muslim) is to Follow the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam, the way it was applied by the companions of the The Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam. As Muslims, we believe that the companions of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam were the best generation ever brought to mankind, and the only way for the later generations to gain the pleasure of Allah is to follow the way of the companions may Allah be pleased with them. Allah says: “ And the foremost to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun and the Ansar and also those who followed them exactly. Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flows to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.” (9:100) If we agree on these principals (and we should agree), then it is not appropriate down the line to do opposite to what these principals are stating. Let’s look at the issue of astronomical calculations. Since the time of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam till now, the way Muslims start and end the month of Ramadan is by sighting the moon. In recent years, some called for using astronomical calculations to determine the beginning of Ramadan, it started by just using the calculations to deny the sighting if it was impossible according to the calculations for the moon to be sighted, but not to be used in determining the beginning or the ending of the month. Then recently, things started to change, and now there is a call to use solely calculations instead of the moon sighting. It is the consensus of the Ulama (scholars) that this is not permissible to use astronomical calculations to determine the beginning or the ending of the Lunar months because of the following reasons: 1. None of the Hadiths related to the matter ordered or recommended to use calculations, although the need for it was there at the time of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam, and the calculation was present at the time. Some people think that calculation is a scientific phenomenon that was discovered recently, which is a misconception. Calculations were present at the time of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam and He still refused to use it and said: “ We are illiterate nation; we neither write, nor know accounts. The month is like this and this, i.e. sometimes 29 days and sometimes 30” (Bukhari – Book of Saum 1799). Some say that when the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam said “ When you see the crescent start fasting, and when you see the crescent (of Shawaal), stop fasting; and if the sky is overcast (and you can’t see it) then Faqdoro lah regard the crescent (month) of Ramdan (as of 30 days)” (Bukhary and others), that the word “Faqdoro lah” (regard the crescent) means you can use calculations. This is false since the Prophet himself explained the meaning of this word by stating to let the month be 30 days. And Allah Says in the Quran: “O you who believe. Make not a decision in advance before Allah and His Messenger and fear Allah. Verily Allah is All-Hearing, All-knowing” (49:1). 2. It is clear that the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam forbade his Ummah from depending on calculations to determine the beginning of the month. This is clear in the Hadith mentioned earlier “ We are illiterate nation; we neither write, nor know accounts. The month is like this and this, i.e. sometimes 29 days and sometimes 30” (Bukhari – Book of Saum 1799). The Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam said in the Hadith clearly “la Nahsib” means that we don’t count (in matter related to lunar months) because the Ummah of the Prophet know how to count and some know how to write, so it is not stating a fact but rather directing the Ummah and forbidding them to use calculations for determining the beginning and the ending of the months. And it means that we are an illiterate Ummah with regarding to matter of the religion, the religion is very easy and does not need scientific discoveries and calculations for matters of worship. The illiterate mentioned in the Hadith does not mean that we as Muslims should be illiterate! Off course not, and it doesn’t mean that it is a fact that we are an illiterate Ummah because the facts denies this, but rather it means that we as Muslims should not use scientific means to determine the month since the Hadith is dealing with this subject. Ibn Hajar May Allah have Mercy on him said in explanation of this Hadith: “The Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam made the ruling of fasting depends on the eyesight to make easy for his people since calculation might be difficult for them and the ruling stayed the same even if people after them they knew calculations good, since the context means to forbade calculations all together, and the other Hadith “Faqdoro lah”(regard for the crescent) that he said to make it 30 days and didn’t order the people to use calculations, because that would diminish the differences and disputes among the people”. It shows clearly in his words that it is not permissible to take calculations and leave what the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam ordered, otherwise it brings disputes among the Muslims. 3. The Sahriah clearly ordered the opposite of calculations. The Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam Said: If you see it (The moon) then fast, and if you don’t see it then do not fast” and this is a clear order to do the opposite to what some are calling to use calculations. And if calculation was a mean of determination, the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam would have ordered or recommended it, since He didn’t leave his Ummah unless he showed them all that is good for them and also what is evil for them. The matter is not something new, but rather it is something that was present at the time of the Prophet and he still ordered to look for the moon and to avoid calculations. 4. The Hadith that states that we are an illiterate Ummah is in the context of being proud that matters of our worship and things in the religion we do not need scientific discoveries to perfect our worship but rather it is such an easy way of life that even the simple man that doesn’t know much can still follow the religion in the most perfect way. 5.We as Muslims should have our unique ways because it is forbidden for us to imitate the non Muslims. And you can see that, in the life of the Prophet and also in the Hadith above. 6. Looking for the moon is part of our religion, it is only the witness of one person that is trustworthy that makes the Muslims starts their month of Fasting. Notice how Allah has made it easy, while in other matters like Zina (fornication) Allah made it very difficult for the witnessing to be taken legally, it has to be by 4 people seeing the exact act itself, which in most cases makes it impossible. Allah is the Most Wise, so we need to see the wisdom of Allah in all of matters of the religion. 7. The Sayings of the Ulamaa of this Ummah with regarding to the calculations: a. It is been reported the Ijmaa’ Consensus among the scholars of the early generations of Islam that determining the beginning of the month using the astronomical calculations is not permissible, this Ijmaa’ was reported by Ibn Taymiah, Ibn Almunthir 8. The calculations only determine without certainty, the time when the new moon is born and not when to be seen. There is big difference between the two. The Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam ordered us to see the moon, and seeing is something different that the moon to be born. The moon can be already born but cannot be seen. So according to calculations, people will start the fast when according to the order of the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam it is not time yet, because it cannot be seen. Who do we follow: The Messenger of Allah, the one that doesn’t speak from his desire but from revelation, or calculations that are not certain? 9.If people complain that it is always the uncertainty before Ramadan and before Eid, and people have to plan ahead for vacations and preserving places for the Eid prayer, so it makes it much easier to pre-determine the beginning and the ending of Ramadan. This is all irrelevant, because we as Muslims need to be slaves of Allah the All-Mighty and make our lives subjected to the laws of Allah and not the opposite. 10.Some people say that when we relied on moon sightings, mistakes happened and people ended up fasting 28 days sometimes and things of that nature, and to respond to that we are not better than the companions May Allah be pleased with them, it happened at their time and there is nothing wrong with that, plus the mistakes with calculations are far more. And the matter is not when exactly the month starts, the matter is obeying the Prophet Salla Allahu Alihy Wa Sallam and see the moon to start the month or completed 30 days. Allah says” And if you differ in anything amongst yourselves refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and suitable for final determination.” (3:59). |
@Zayhal Salm and I appreciate your post but let me quickly go through it. I attended the programmes they organised for the people going to hajj. Perhaps this isn't enough to conclude on TMC. Maybe I've not been with them long enough but I don't intend attending anymore as I don't like to belong to any group.Sister, you don't just jump to conclusion or should I say level allegation without anything to back it up. I am not saying somebody is perfect or not but with regards to TMC, you have no proper understanding of what you are saying. I asked in one of my posts to suply me just one of the hadith you claimed happened to be fabricated and we look at it in the light of the Quran, Hadith and Ijmaa. There is even a programme called Figh Forunm where TMC shed light on Figh USunnah because the one in circulation doesnt explain some things in details and if you are very conversant and used to attending lectures especially Adkar organised first Sunday of every month, you would have learnt a lot and see where people come up with questions and we attend to their questions using the Quran, Hadith with Isnad to support same. If you have been vising lectures regularly, you would have come across texts, materials, books, journals etc being displayed at the entrance of the mosques and if you are able to check very well, you would see that most of these books answer what you claimed here. Muslims don't just buy books but that of a trusted source because some authors publish book just for money and nothing else. One of my sibblings happened to a strong member of MSS and we share the same things and he attends TMC lectures has the tapes being sold at Thani Olodo in Yaba and some of the books produced by TMC members. I have a copy of the book u mentioned. I know a lot about MSS. Interestingly, a lot of MSS members don't give much regard to TMC. Go to A.A.You, UNAD, UNIBADAN,IFE and ask the MSS members about TMC or Ustah Dhikrullah. You'D be surprised what they'll say. I'm not in position to condemn any scholar. who am I to do that? but I can differentiate my right hand from the left.Sister, thumb up for your post. I think you can't be in the position to speak for MSS but every member would be able to do that perfectly. If you care to know, I used to attend MSS lectures and still do that one in a while when I am around and can still tell you that they have lots in common and most MSS members turn out to be a TMC member because it one of the societies that doesnt associate Bidiah to their modus operandi and like I told you, I can not attend most of the popular societies because the foundation is not based truly on Islamic principles. I attend lectures and can categorically tell you that some of the societies waste lot of time trying to give ordinary lecture. When you are even talking about societies that you would learn lots about Islam, Hadith, Sunnah and Tajweed, then you have TMC beside you. I would even welcome MSS member to bring issues forward. I am not going against or supporting any leaders but based my acceptance on facts from Quran, Hadith, Sunnah. On what Shaafi said regarding Albani, it was a passing comment he made at Muzdalifah when an argum, ent came up on whether to pass d night there or not. but really, it's no longer of interest to me. we're all humans and are prone to mistakes.Oh no. How could you say its of no interest to you when you raised it earlier? You should be able to provide it if you really want us to get to the root of this issue. I am not saying he made any comment or not but would like to have it and we view it together. We are bound to make mistakes like you rightly said but not that kind of costly mistakes and you know that all we say or do would be accounted for. May Allah increase our knowledge Maa Salam |
@Lady It is also why we believe that muhammad got his information from heretics to christianity. he was surrounded by them.Proof please there is a reason why islam mirrors a lot in the Catholic church, muhammad copied our behaviours and what we did.Really? The pilgrimage was being done by a lot of Christians at that time. What kinda pilgrimage did they do that time? They would walk the same path that Christ walked on the way to his crucifixion, we call it the way of the cross. there aren't many pilgrims who go to the way of the cross anymore, we do it in our own parishes because when the muslims came to existence they refused to allow anyone to the Holy land.If you had been been folowing your post yourself, you would have read your deceit therein. Was Jesus crucified? Was he nailed to a cross or tied to a stake according to your bible? Why did you refuse to continue what your early people that you are claiming to be following did? Was Mecca Christian holy Land because I read you saying that Muslims refuse them entry into the holy land? They severly brutalised and killed many Christians. St. Francis of Assisi came up with it to allow Christians to be able to re-visit the stations of the cross (way of the cross) in their parished since they couldn't go to the Holy land anymore. When was that and what holy land are you referring to, pleae be explicit? The tesibu that you have is a copy of the rosary. muhammad took a liken to the christian monks and the way they behaved, he even spoke of it in the quran. he also liked the beads on which they used to count when they recited the 150 psalms, hence the arrival of your tesibu.Your proof please. I dont partake in cock and bull story. I could go on and on to show you how it is muhammad copied our behaviours.Oh do the needful and list them backing them with facts Unfortunately he couldn't understand our beliefs and he was very much surrounded by christian heretics. unfortunately protestants think because the catholics have this similarity with the muslims that we are like the muslims, not realising that our traditions are the very thing that can disprove islam and show that it copied a lot from christians.Hogwash. Provide your proof if you are sincere to yourself and not your tales by moonlight that has no basis |
Salam and appreciate everyone's comment. Bid'a according to Islamic legal definition is an innovation, which is an error and a misguidance. It must be shunned and people warned against it. The Holy prophet (saw) in one Hadith says: " The best speech is the book of Allah and the best path to follow is the path of Mohammed (saw) and the worst things are the innovations and every innovation is an error" (Muslim) In the extract from Faith al-Bari the most authentic commentary on Bukhari further clarifies the concept of Bid'a. "Innovation is that which does not have its origin in the Shariah and anything that does not have an origin in Shariah is an innovation." Ibn- Abdul Salam says in "Al-Qawaid " that Bid'a is of five types: 1. Wajiba (necessary); Like learning Syntax and Grammar through which the word of Allah and his messenger can be understood. 2. Manduba (Recommended); All good acts that were not established in the time of the Messenger (saw) like the congregation of Taraweeh, like the funding of schools, Tasawuff, holding debates. 3. Mubaha (Permissible); Like shaking hand after Fajr and Asr prayer and enjoying worldly pleasures like good food & drink, clothes & houses. 4. Makruh (offensive) 5. Khilaf al ula (offensive) Imam Shatbie in his book "Al-Ithisam" has defined Bid'a as follows: "A way invented in religion that resembles the Shariah yet the purpose of following it contradicts the purpose of Shariah." So it is a way, which is not in consonance and agreement with the Shariah but against its spirit. This is why the Prophet (saw) so strongly condemned Bid'a. The Innovator is thrusting something new in the religion yet it violates the spirit of religion. Abdullah Ibn Abbas narrates the messenger (saw) said, "Whatever Allah has made permissible is halal and whatever he has forbidden is Haram and anything else not mentioned is excused." (Abu Dawad). I still wonder why people recite Solatul Fathi instead of Solatul Ibrahim taught by the holy prophet? I love this part: 1. The doubtfull origin of solatul fatih |

. Do you have biblical proof to support the fact that they were present and we will also go into their accounts and see if they really witnessed it. Note that Luke was not a part of those that you would claim that witnessed it because he confessed that he received it from those that claimed to have witnessed it.
