it should have but not at this time, the law doesn't fit the 21st century....the law was passed I think 200 years ago when America had so much violence....
I understand but no matter the violence equip the law enforments, charge them to do a thorough job to tackle crime rather than selling Guns to citizens, then you should expect chaos in future.

dude that law is older than Nigeria... it's called the second amendment...to repeal one of the 25 amendments is not easy and involves alot of bureaucracy that even trump has no power over
Whether the law is as Old as man is not my business, such a law shouldn't have been enacted.

What will happen to the black market if guns stop being sold legally?

Who purchases stuff from the black market, the good or bad people?

Ever wondered why folks are scared of robbing people anyhow? especially in their homes.

Who robs people? the good or bad. wink
That is what I am saying, the US govt knows the Ammunition manufacturers and it's a profit making industry. They should restrict them to selling to Governments of countries only, selling guns in the shops to people will only make sick and demented fellows to kill good citizens, angry, depressed and frustrated citizens killing fellow citizens. The disadvantage Far outweighs the advantage of protecting themselves against hardened criminals.

If Law enforcement does their Jobs well, it will curb crime. Why is Britain not practising this system of selling guns to people for protection? That's why there is far far less crime in Britain than the US.
Foreign AffairsRe: Thousands Of Teens Walked Out Of Classes To Protest Gun Laws Across U.S.(Photos) by bakynes(m): 8:00am On Feb 23, 2018
Na US dey do themselves, how would you allow guns to be sold to citizens all in the name of protecting themselves against criminals. Guns are Sold in shops and even a kid can get his or her hands on a gun, frustrated and depressed fellow now carry out mass shooting.

Stop Selling Guns all together to people, i know this cannot be possible because the Gun industry is a billion dollars industry for them but they should think about the disadvantages as well.

If not for the high unemployment rate and Islamic extremism in Nigeria resulting to people going into crime I would say Nigeria is even much more safer than the US.

Oyegun doesn't have the right to disrespect a man whose stake in APC is about 50% of the whole party structure. Who is John Odigie-Oyegun? Which Party did he create and built from the scratch. I don't even know he was a Governor before he became the Party Chairman. He is a no body until Tinubu recommended him to be the Party Chairman.

How can you this idiot compare Tinubu to Oyegun. Which Party did Oyegun own or built from scratch. As far as APC is concerned Buhari and Tinubu are the most influential figures.

If not for the fact that, delegates can't agree to a VP and a Party Chairman from the SW, Bisi Akande was the interim Chairman of APC before Tinubu and Buhari picked Oyegun. So who is Oyegun in politics compared to Tinubu.

PoliticsRe: Middle Belt Groups, Afenifere, Others Kick As ACF Rejects State Police by bakynes(m): 4:39am On Feb 20, 2018
You see what I and many others have been saying about these Arewa people, they will keep drawing us back to medieval times. Whatever the SW, SS, SE, MB propose that is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf and a way forward, they will oppose it and since they control the government it will stand. So we propose the need for the representatives from these regions listed above to come together put away their differences for the main time and wrestle power away from these Arewa people.

The advantages of State Police far out weighs it's disadvantages. Safeguarding the lives of people far out weighs the issue of Governors using them against their political opponents. We should remember the primary responsibility of every government is to safeguard the lives and properties of its people without that then there is nothing called Government.
PoliticsRe: The Foolishness Of Igbos And The Yorubas by bakynes(m): 4:20am On Feb 20, 2018
OP if you notice my moniker yesterday, I was in support of the Southern unity the OP with McCain moniker advised.

I know quite well Igbos and Yorubas don't like each other especially the lots on this Forum but I was only suggesting even a temporary union of Both to wrestle power away from the Northerners that are controlling things in Government,Politics and drawing the rest of us Backwards.

I was only proposing temporary unity and after the power have been taken from them we can then go our separate ways.

You see the way Nigeria is structured and constituted, the North will continue to control the rest of us in these called Nigeria. They have designed it that way, the Igbos that want Biafra will never get it except through War because referendum was not included in the constitution so their representatives cannot over ride the Northern representative votes in the National assembly, the only way to achieve that is to rally round with other Southern and middle Belt representatives to get more votes in favour of referendum ahead of the core Northern representatives who will want to twart the inclusion of refendum in the constitution.

We all know we need to restructure by dissolution of power to the constituent states and region but the Hausa Fulani leaders will never agree to it because it ends their dominance in Nigeria so we keep going around in circles and undeveloped when the rest of the world is moving forward.

Igbos alone cannot get their Biafra without the support of others (except they result to War. If you go to the Airport and Seaport,Customs,immigration/ border control in the SW the Northerners control all these agencies so how do the Yorubas want to grow without restructuring and devolution of Power they have been clamouring for?

In Conclusion, if the Igbos and Yorubas are to get what they want, they must unite temporarily to fight these born to rule Oligarchy who keeps drawing them back.

ClumsyFlimsy:
Seriously the Yorubas and the North Central / middle belt are the real problems of Nigeria because without them I swear the Hausa man will be a nobody

We igbos will match the Hausa/fulani man o a man o

They don't have monopoly of violence

Without the Yoruba and middle belt; Fulani don't have shit against anybody

Heck those sons of bitches go collect if we and them go one on one

They are over hyped cowards. The middle belt and Yorubas make it seem like Hausa/Fulani are invisible.

I dare them to go on killing spree in the east like they are currently doing in middle belt and South West and I swear we shall retaliate by fold

The mistake that occurred in nimbo in enugu will not repeat itself

We igbos love peace but if infidels want to show themselves we will cut them to size
You people can fight with your mouths, what happened last year when Fulani herdsmen raided Enugu and massacred people in a certain community and raped your women making your Governor to cry and declare Praying and Fasting. Or have you suddenly forgotten it was a national headline? SW, SS, SE, MB have all experienced causalities from the herdsmen don't come and be forming Van-damme for us here.
PoliticsRe: The Yoruba/igbo Coalition. by bakynes(m): 3:29pm On Feb 19, 2018
jomonic:
You don't need the Igbo for any formal coalition. The Igbo are already standing up to the Hausa/Fulani and have paid dearly doing so. All you need to do is stand up and be counted, then the coalition will form naturally without having to make declarations.
Igbos standing up to Hausa-Fulani you say how? If I may ask, what did you lots do when the herdsmen massacred and raped your women in Enugu, making your Governor to cry and declare fasting and prayer don't tell me you have forgotten?
PoliticsRe: The Yoruba/igbo Coalition. by bakynes(m): 3:05pm On Feb 19, 2018
I can see from those Igbos that mentioned me that, they are hell bent on a revenge mission and have chosen not to cooperate with other Southerners and Middle Beltans to liberate themselves. Well we will all suffer it together in the hands of the Fulani.

Remember after Agatu it was a massacre and Rape in Enugu where your governor cried and declared fasting and prayer.

It's now clear we all have to fight the Hausa-Fulani alone individually not collectively to survive since the Igbos have refused a Southern alliance to fight our common Oppressor. The Igbos still hold the grudges of the Civil war against other Southerners and Middle Beltans.

Let the fight begins, let the mockery begin, as the Fulani raids the SW, SS, SE and MB let's see who will survive and let the mockery of our demise begin.

Nobody is begging Igbos for friendship here. If you cannot come together with the Yorubas then continue with your oppression and Marginalization in Nigeria in the hands of Hausa-Fulani.

Daewang:
Igbo first is our new policy. I reject any association with ewedu tribe.
This is where the problem lies, it's not as if we Yorubas love Igbos so much too but you cannot defeat the Hausa-Fulani Oligarchy alone. Likewise Yoruba people cannot do it alone. You know they have the numbers in term of population if it comes to War,their kinsmen from Niger and Chad will defeat you in War and well as their dominance in determining our Political destiny. The only way to defeat them is to come together if not, we will all have to continue with their dominance in Nigeria.

There is nothing wrong if two oppressed come together to defeat their oppressors. Knowing fully well one Oppressed cannot alone defeat his oppressor.
PoliticsRe: The Yoruba/igbo Coalition. by bakynes(m): 11:00am On Feb 19, 2018
I am Afonja as rightly termed by Igbos and I support the need for both Major ethnic group in the South to work together to take our destinies away from these Born to rule Hausa-Fulani. But before any peace pact can be drawn on Nairaland, Igbos most refrain from calling Lagos "a no man's land". We agree all Nigerians have contributed to the Developement of Lagos but it is still our ancestral land that has had huge advantage over any state in Nigeria by virtue of the early Portuguese traders and the British colonialist.

I campaigned in my own little way for Buhari in 2015 as I also campaigned for GEJ in 2011 and now I support the removal of Buhari by the use of our votes.

Igbos must understand that many Yorubas did not vote out GEJ because he favoured Igbos more, we simply voted him out because of how he allowed Corruption to fester in his Govt. So it was never a mistake voting out GEJ and now we must also vote out Buhari in 2019.

The only way we can salvage our destinies away from the Northern Oligarchy is only if these two major tribes to work hand in hand together especially the Yoruba Christians and Liberal Yoruba Muslims.

Even as a Yoruba man I know we have some Extremist Yoruba Muslims who always support the North over their tribes men but these extremist Yorubas are few in Numbers compared to the Yoruba Christians and Liberal Yoruba Muslim.

Yorubas,Igbos,SS minorities and non muslim minorities of the Middle Belt can work together to overturn the core North's dominance.

Fool where are the facts? did you see a Video of Herdsmen killing and destroying farms? If you a Nigerian, you will know the media exaggerate these stories. That was how they exaggerated Corruption during GEJ's tenure. Nobody is excusing the herdsmen have destroyed some farms and killed people but on nairaland and other media outlets these day all killings in Nigeria is now attributed to Fulani herdsmen. Before it used to be Gunmen but now it's Fulani herdsmen. Nothing less than three headlines of Herdsmen killing people everyday on nairaland. Some of us can see in btw the media propaganda.

Some farms might have been destroyed by cattles but the media is exaggerating this issue.

Take it from me.

Bro Look at the issue of Babaloja /Iyalojo issue, this practice has been there pre-colonial times and the British came and met it, they did not abolish it but Igbos will open shops in these markets and want to stop an age-long tradition which was what caused the Eze-Ndigbo to be flogged in Akure. They are a people who do not respect other peoples culture and tradition. They believe because they migrate to a place in huge numbers, you must abolish that your age-long tradition for them and you dare not try it with them on their own lands. I'm still in bemused as to why this is generating so much fuss.

When such law was promulgated in the east no Yoruba person batted an eyelid, now that we have done the same in Lagos a Yoruba state it has been worn the dark toga of tribalism.

I don't know why Igbos in particular feel threatened by this law, wouldn't it be fun for young Igbo babes to learn and imbibe the language and culture of the state they live in. grin
You need to understand the way most Igbos reason. Since Lagos is now Cosmopolitan, they expect us to drop everything that has to do with its history, roots ,Culture,Tradition and Language just to make them happy.

Awolowo knows what he was saying when he said there is nothing like Nigerians in the real sense of it like we have English people,Scottish people because they are a people of one tongue and language. Everybody else seems to understand these and take caution when outside their region. But it seems only Igbos do not understand this narrative, they feel they should have equal right with you on your own land but you cannot have equal right on their own land.

it was even their kins man in the person of Ironsi that change the system of how we lived according to our regions. So they should take their complain to him in the grave.

whether they like it or not we will not erase our culture and language in Lagos because it is Cosmoplitan. Until Igbos realize that we are not one people but only agreed to live together in one big space called Nigeria with every ethnic nation to their boundaries the better for them.

That is allows any Nigerian to live and work there does not make it a multi ethnic state just a multi ethnic society.

Always put the Yoruba in Bracket not Awori and Yoruba.
Those who don't know will think Aworis are not Yorubas.Yoruba have sub groups like Awori, Egba,Ijebu,Ekiti,Ife,Oyo,Akoko,Owo etc. We are all Yorubas.
