It now sounds like a history lessons that Nigeria emerged from Independence as a potential Regional Power sending funds, skills and teachers to other countries.

President of the World Court, World Criminal Court, Soldiers to Congo, Liberia and Freedom Fighters to Southern part of Africa.

Refuge for Africans for any reason.

Oh well, ancient history for a country that cannot help itself but rely on foreign loans, foreign jobs, foreign travels, escape to Ghana, South Africa, Libya, America, Eastern and Western Europe. The same country that paid salaries of workers in the Caribbean countries. Now anywhere but home for Nigerians that could not wait to get back home.

It would be passed on from fathers and mothers to children and grandchildren to the next generation.

We never said a word about ourselves. Our characters spoke for us. We almost got red carpet wherever we went.

Today, despite our degrees, money, expensive cars, high positions and humogous houses, they want us out of their Countries.

The immorality and empty vessels started from home and we exported it outside. Those who could check the conspicuous spenders joined them. Parents lost control while others abdicated their responsibilities.

With all these strikes in Nigeria, we need to embrace alternate traditional Medicine, pharmacists and over the counter drugs to prevent flare-up of Covid-19.

There are physicians, Community Health Officers, Nurses, Community Health and Grassroots workers that have not seen their families in two or three weeks camped with Covid-19 patients.

Others are traveling across the villages and towns trying to prevent another fatalities like Ebola.

Yet, the international Community call their efforts luck, accident or myth. This is cold and frustrating.

African countries are certainly doing more than preventive medicine to ward off the predicted numbers of death from the devastating effects of Covid-19. It is not a fluke, luck or by accident but by herbal and proactive Primary Care. While it is true that Covid-19 could have produced more deaths in Africa than anywhere else, it does not bode well to think those grim predictions came as a result of bad faith. Indeed, most of them wish Africa well hoping the worst scenario would never happen. Africans were brought up with our grandmother's herbs by immersion in boiled drinks. They are our Vitamins C, D, E, B complex, Zinc and B12 that became expensive hot items in high demand at the pharmacy stores all over the world. During the early stages of diseases, the white blood cells we learned about in high schools kill invading bacteria and viruses. The Sore Throat relief by salt water, Cough with honey and ginger, aspirin/codeine available over the counter but not more than 30 mg every 4 hours or ask pharmacists.

Rubbing our body down with oils to ward off the breathlessness of cold or flu. Our problem in Africa Traditional Medicine is generalized treatment for every ailment because it works for some. It becomes difficult to credit African efforts to contain Covid-19. But to call it a myth because African countries are leading or doing better, lacks appreciation for the efforts of those working hard at prevention and treatment at the earliest stage.

Headache, dry cough, sore throat relieved by coconut oil or other symptoms like body ache, fatigue, loss of taste or smell are dealt with immediately by hot lime drink, body rub massage. Africans do not allow them to germinate into serious disease that may turn out to be Covid-19.

If there is anything we learned from Ebola, it is a strong Community Action. Call it Contact Tracing, door to door or old fashioned home grassroots workers from health clinics and centers. Prevention of deadly consequences has been avoided again by vigilance against this new Covid-19 virus. The fact that rich advanced countries suffered more than poor countries in Africa only points to complacency when they know what to do for prevention.

We must always note that there is no better hospital anywhere outside your house. When every drug and medical procedure fail, our home is the most comfortable place to die. It is sad but the reality of life. Most of our preventable ailments can be avoided within our houses saving us from getting admitted into the best hospital anywhere. If you live in any of the African countries with very modest means, that is most of us, you cannot afford a good hospital in your country not to mention traveling out to hospitals abroad.

Even South Africa with the highest cases in Africa, has been able to contain the covid-19 virus better than most advanced countries. It has little to do with their good hospitals but more with our African Traditional Medicine warding off each of the symptoms that are similar to past flu and more important, the well placed fear that Covid-19 could wipe out our population. Some researchers want to credit Herd Immunity because of the crowding in Africa. They forgot the death toll in Brazil and even in Sweden with that type of hypothesis. It boils down to demography selection and how many of that population you are willing to sacrifice to gain herd immunity later.

The hypothesis of warm weather fails since other tropical South America countries and crowded countries like India have high cases. Another hypothesis is that Africans have a higher young population that has better immune systems. While it is true that older age succumbed at a higher rate, especially those above 80 years old or in Nursing Homes, only the wealthy in Africa that could afford treatment anywhere have succumbed, leaving the poor in the same category unexposed, free. Even their househelps exposed to travellers (disease) are cautious. This is the beneficial evidence of preventive measures and taking proactive treatment against known symptoms from the past experience.

Africans have some treatments for every symptom of Covid-19. Most of us have become hypochondriacs watching out for any symptom and applying home remedy as they manifest their fangs at our well-being. We all know that reliance on exotic treatment many times may result in false hope. They have more to do with later stages of the disease that have been allowed to set in. We must take precautions and not ignore early symptoms. Youths and older adults may think they are not vulnerable. Youths couldn't care less because they think they are invisible and have stronger immune systems. The wealthy adults think they can buy their way out of sickness with exotic treatment.

Old steroid like Dexamethasone may prevent worse stages in the hospital patients during Cytokine Storms, but it may also be late. These are the complications that have been avoided in African countries at the earliest stage. The use of experimental drugs like Favipiravir and Remdesivir, as virus killers, aspirin and heparin as blood thinners, steroids for stabilization and intubation at later stages to force oxygen from the lungs to every part of the body are too expensive in Africa. Acculturation is hidden in plain sight yet insidious and debilitating to African psyche. Africans & Americans Are Not The Only Ones Stuck On Efficacy Of Chloroquine

Most high school science students are familiar with the functions of red and white blood cells. The white cells help fight off infections and other foreign invaders of our bodies. But sometimes, white cell cells overdo it, killing its own cells before infections spread to other organs. This is the advanced study of Cytokines.

Chloroquine is not the super drug against the activities of cytokine storms. Other drugs and steroids cortisone have been administered.

At the same time, Cytokine storms can cause organ failure: lung failure, Acute Respiratory Distress syndrome (ARDS), kidney failure and cardiovascular collapse or shock.

In cases where Chloroquine is already effective in treating malaria, lupus, juvenile arthritis and others, if influenza flu or corona viruses hit, it may be the early drug of choice. But not in later stages of Preexisting conditions: hypertension, diabetes and obesity where drug interactions may make the situation worse. This may be one of the reasons for the strenuous objection to Chloroquine for the treatment of covid-19.

Cytokines are small secreted proteins released by cells with some specific effect on the interactions and communications between cells.

Therefore, cell immediate response to foreign bodies is to eliminate or kill themselves as a protective mechanism so the disease doesn’t spread to other cells.



Certain kinds of cytokines trigger cell death. When you have many cells doing this at the same time, a lot of tissue can die. In COVID-19, that tissue is mostly in the lung.

An exaggerated immune response to a new virus, bacteria, or another substance that is foreign to the body is, most of the times the cause. The symptoms of a cytokine storm are high fever, swelling and redness, extreme fatigue and nausea. At the same time, there can be organ failure like lung failure, Acute Respiratory Disease Syndrome, kidney failure, cardiovascular collapse or shock.

Before anti cytokine storms, studies indicated it may be possible to head off the storm altogether by blocking some of the chemicals that can trigger its release, which are called catecholamines. Catecholamines help the body respond to stress or fright and prepare the body for "fight-or-flight" reactions. The adrenal glands make large amounts of catecholamines as a reaction to stress. The main catecholamines are epinephrine (adrenaline), norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and dopamine.

Aldosterone affects the body's ability to regulate blood pressure. It sends the signal to organs, like the kidney and colon, that can increase the amount of sodium the body sends into the bloodstream or the amount of potassium released in the urine.

DE-ESCALATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST AFRICANS AT HOME & ABROAD

The pressing problem most African families are dealing with at home and abroad is how to ameliorate the hidden and open attacks against them by constituted authorities. Families are pondering and mulling on how to de-escalate the confrontations and keep young Africans safe from deadly assaults.

While Natural Disaster has taken the disproportional death toll on the elders, Africans and minorities; man inhumanity to man has also converged and affected Africans most, no matter where they are. Some Chinese scapegoated and projected blame on African students for Covid-19 that originated in Wuhan. We also witnessed a string of Police ritual massacres in the United States: a lady sleeping at home while Black to George Floyd like Eric Garner snuffed out of breath and life for the world to see.

De-escalation tactics start from within by showing the qualities of cultured people demanding respect. You get what you negotiate, not what you deserve. Look, everyone acts in his best interest and power is not given up out of the goodness of their hearts but when it becomes too risky and expensive to keep. This was how old system of slavery was abolished. So watch out, it is a continuous struggle. Do not be fooled by the replacement of slavery with cheap disposable labor.

Let us be clear, these traitors have never seen anything good about themselves or their Continent and would sell their Countries for imported glittering plastics, used discarded goods and environmental garbage. Fake leaders claim to be partners of foreign investors or businessmen opening Free Trade zones and gulping our Foreign Reserves for money laundering abroad. While it is true that some of these African Parasites are created out of greed and self-hate, we have ethnic animosity involved. By the time some swear to spare a snake and kill a fellow citizen or kill your own brothers and sisters as Kaferi or Unbelievers, you realize African mentality has gone insane.

Our suffering abroad and lack of respect for our individual citizens at home is so intertwined, we can not expect others to respect us when we sell one another cheap at home out of spite. Let us face it, lives are cheap in Africa if we are willing to risk it all in the hands of foreigners than stand our ground at home to fight our oppressors.

There is no doubt that there are opportunists who leave their homes where they are too depraved to sow good deeds but go out for soft landing to reap the hard work and magnanimous acts and accommodation of others. The projections of their laziness on victims of host countries are obvious.They will never be respected. Only scornfully treated accordingly as cheap disposable labors.

It is about time our leaders were challenged to stop seeking salvation from abroad or Heaven when God only helps those who help themselves.
