GamingRe: Shocking: Xbox One Won't Work On Standard Tv's by Bawss1(m): 8:38am On May 22, 2013
Update: Sounds like things are a mess over at Microsoft. Now they're telling Polygon that Harrison's comments illustrate a "potential scenario."

"While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail," a Microsoft rep said. "There have been reports of a specific time period — those were discussions of potential scenarios, but we have not confirmed any details today, nor will we be."
Potential scenario indeed. They should get their story straight!
GamingRe: Shocking: Xbox One Won't Work On Standard Tv's by Bawss1(m):
vowiski: This might come as a sad news for some gamers especially as the transition from Standard TV's to HDTV isn't anywhere near 100%. Outside the HDMI port exclusivity, many gamers will not like the fact that Xbox One needs to be online once a day, and has no Xbox360 compatibility. I know this can be frustrating but it can't be more frustrating in US that Africa where internet connections are as good as a snails work.

Substantiate the line in bold will you. Reports say that an internet connection is required for the X1 but it doesn't need to be always online or online once a day.

EDITED

This story explains it all. http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-require-internet-connection-cant-play-o-509164109
The X1 does require internet connection at least once a day, that's a major bummer. OP is correct.

The new Xbox reveal starts in a few, I'm betting they won't call it the Xbox 720!

You will be surprised. Who will wait for 9months, it's no longer 1996 nor is west Africa the final frontier. Sheesh!
ComputersRe: Windows Blue (windows 8.1) : The Thread by Bawss1(m): 1:53pm On May 20, 2013
moonraker: A Start Button

Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed the return of the Start button in Windows 8.1 and there’s been no sign of it in any of the leaked builds. There have been lots of rumors about it though, with some people claiming it will be a traditional Start button with a Start menu, and others just that it will be there purely to open the Start screen.

Boot To Desktop

Again, we don’t know for certain if this option will make an appearance in 8.1, but the ability to skip the Modern UI screen is a request Microsoft is more than aware of.
That! If there ever was a complaint about Win8 it had to be that. Not that it mattered to me, but it appeared that everywhere you turned you'd hear users crying for their beloved start button. If Win8.1 does indeed include those changes then maybe they'd see a faster adoption rate from the camp of the skeptics.

Kingsteve: I wonder how flat they really want their devices to look/feel...
Aren't Apple smartphones flat enough, or would 'flat' be the next big thing from Apple, when describing their new phones?
No the flatness here is in regards to how the apps and icons look on iOS 7 not necessarily the hardware. They are doing away with the skeumorphism approach - designing objects like their real world counterparts (eg, the notepad icon will not look like a leatherbound real life notepad) Kind of like how Google and Microsoft have designed their products in recent times. The thinking is that iOS has looked pretty much the same since 2007 and they want to change that.
The iOS 7 will be announced in the next few months ahead.

^
The marriage between Samsung and Android is a profitable one but know that Samsung is also looking at a future where it can go on its own; they are developing their own OS - Bada. I'm just saying don't just drink all the koolaids those folks are selling.
PhonesRe: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Leaked Information September 2013 by Bawss1(m): 6:23pm On May 17, 2013
Kingsteve: Are you an Apple employee by any chance?
I wish. Certainly wouldn't mind the $100K+/yr salary that engineers at Apple attract but the overhaul coming in iOS 7 has been reported by many sources on the interwebs.
PhonesRe: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Leaked Information September 2013 by Bawss1(m): 5:54pm On May 17, 2013
Kingsteve: Probably, a thinner 4.7inch screen...with the same 'ol OS, in the form of iOS 7 or whatever number they decide to tag it, and of course; the boring Retina Display!
4.7" would be a real surprise coming from Apple but prepare for a visual overhaul in iOS7, they are doing away with the designs we have come to know iOS for and introducing a "flatter" look. Retina is certainly going to get crispier not boring.

Imanuelle: You may have expensive gadgets, but we have the passion.
grin

Not only does that line sum it up for you folks but it is an indirect admission of the real quality of your mobile. What Tecno lacks in specs ,its users make up for in passion. I mean, which other users in the world in 2013 will hold their 800Mhz, 3.5" Gingerbread 2.3 device with suspect build quality as though it is the pinnacle of mobile technology? Kudos to your spirit.

My philosophy has always been to each his own and I'll stick to it but because you guys have added a comical dimension to an otherwise ridiculous fan wars affair I can hardly resist the temptation to call it out. smiley

Thank you China for the emancipation of these people. grin cheesy cheesy

9jadelta: op no mind that bomboclat. People are wise now.

Say No to stup*d overated phones
bomboclat ?

You realize that Larry Page is the CEO of Google? You know, that company that makes the OS that allows, amongst others, a certain Chinese OEM to make phones for those people that couldn't before now own a smartphone.
PhonesRe: Did Larry Page Just Insult Africa And India? by Bawss1(m):
Hackomania: My question: What is this supposed to mean? Did anyone just forget that we are one of the biggest drivers in the mobile phone market? Wasn't the Galaxy S4 just launched in Nigeria a few hours ago, just days after its launch worldwide? Is this not an insult?
Larry needs to visit Computer village and see for himself abeg.
Truth is Nigeria is a huge market for mobile devices but of the low end and mid range variety. [s]Witness how these Tecno airheads are all over the place[/s] grin There are still people who use high end mobiles here but they pale in comparison to entry level users and this group(entry level group) is set to experience even more growth in the coming years.
PhonesRe: Lumia 925 Windows Phone By Nokia by Bawss1(m): 8:39am On May 16, 2013
Frostyzone: You seem even more confused as you are making me out to be.

I ended my post by saying that out of WP7, WP7.8 and WP8, the later is the only one that can compete with Android high-end OS which is jelly bean. What is so confusing about that??

Some people just lack comprehension faculty.
You do realize that there are major differences between WP8 and WP7 do you? These differences from the completely dissimilar kernels to the fact that WP7 can only support single core processors and different screen resolutions compared to WP8 means you can't just lump them all together. . .I don't even know where to start regarding your mention of Jelly Bean.

irokobest: Techno N7 and Q1 are not low end android phones
Well they certainly aren't high end either. With only 512 RAM, no 4G/LTE radios and unimpressive screen resolutions they qualify as entry level smartphones in 2013.
PhonesRe: Lumia 925 Windows Phone By Nokia by Bawss1(m): 8:14am On May 16, 2013
all4naija: Windows Phone 8 is not on ZUNE. You cannot use Zune to synchronize Windows Phone 8.
Thanks for the correction, I was being drawn into an unfounded argument about the alleged shortcomings of WP8. The point I wanted to make there was that WP8 was designed as a standalone OS and didn't need any software like iOS and iTunes.
PhonesRe: BlackBerry Q5 For Emerging Markets Announced by Bawss1(m): 9:37pm On May 15, 2013
See how the association of low end phone users aka Team Tecno are in full force here braying about their entry level android device even when the real subject of discussion has nothing to do with it.

4peace: What is he saying?
He seems confused.

The only strong contender coming from WP Stable is WP8 which is almost as good as android's Jelly bean.

How does that contain any sense?
PhonesRe: Lumia 925 Windows Phone By Nokia by Bawss1(m): 1:26pm On May 15, 2013
Frostyzone: I strongly disagree on the bolded.

Android OS is such a simple and superb
platform where you can turn your phone into a complete utility machine.
In Nokia's Lumia series, to transfer content like music and videos you need to download and install Zune into the machine, without which, your phone is nothing.
Whereas in Android you don't need any
special thing to start the mass storage mode.
The only strong contender coming from WP Stable is WP8 which is almost as good as android's Jelly bean.
Confusion and FUD. WP8 is just as good as any of the top mobile OSes out there. I dare say it probably is the most fluid and intuitive of the lot.

iOS is even more dependent on iTunes for transfer of music files than WP8 is on Zune and yet iOS has gained wide acceptance. This fact is hardly a deal breaker when going for WP8.
