Is there some kind of plague tormenting the minds of some people on this forum? Why is it hard to express yourself without feigning some kind of superiority, especially when it doesn't exists? How hard can it be to say "gee Nokia has released another phone unfortunately I'm too broke to afford to it", instead of saying "Nokia has completely lost it with this release, my Tecno which is a cheap android phone runs circles around this Lumia any day" ![]() If the Lumia doesn't meet your needs, fine (you can even be gracious to explain what those needs are and how the Lumia fails to meet them) but for the sake of sanity and to avoid the risk of appearing as a dunce don't make unfounded comments about a product you haven't used yet let alone seen, in a dismissive manner. All we are saying is that Team Tecno should give it a rest. Thanks ![]() |
Rudebwoy: NO. i am saying that those calling tecno android a crap should have a rethink. at least it runs on number 1 mobile OS in the world irrespective of the hardware provisions.Nobody is calling Tecno crap here, if anything it is the Tecno fans that are badmouthing Nokia as though Tecno phones are made in heaven. The fact is that Tecno phones are mostly low end devices and they really can't hold a candle to Nokia in terms of quality. Does this make Tecno phones bad, no, not everyone can afford high end phones and that is understandable. It just becomes ridiculous when Tecno users make it appear that theirs is the best in the world. Utterly ridiculous. |
asala1: NOKIA is just struggling to survive, they can't compete with the likes of Samsung and Apple anymore as high end phones. They should try to hold down their market in low-end phone which they are fast losing to TECHNO.Another Tecno head Do you realize that the article you posted is a report from 2012? I suggest you look up reports for Nokia's performance for Q1 2013. Start with this one http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/18/nokia-hits-7-7-billion-in-revenue-for-q1-2013-with-5-8-million/ Btw, what analysis have you seen that says Nokia is losing the low end market to Tecno? |
Rudebwoy: My point is: For now, as long as mobile telephony is concerned, the operating system is Mostly considered not hardware or brand. Are you saying that Windows Phone 8 which Nokia uses is not up for consideration, as in it is subpar? |
Rudebwoy: These models are low end yes but the fact remains they are smartphones running on android.ZTE also has phones running on android. What exactly is your point? |
Itoroetti :Optical Image Stabilization Access to Windows SkyDrive Wireless charging (albeit with an accessory) World class Nokia Maps I've mentioned 4 things from the top of my head that your Tecno cannot do but this Lumia 925 does, and the list is very far from being exhaustive. Tecno hits the low price market and that's just dandy for folks on a very tight budget but its certainly nowhere in the league of leading smartphones. |
rodeo0070: OPERATING SYSTEM MARKET SHARES Q1 2013What does this have to do with anything right now? ![]() All of a sudden everyone and their grandmothers are analysts of the mobile phone industry. |
@ Post Its interesting what Nokia has done with this new flagship, the 925 is 50 grams lighter than the 920 and it in encased in a metal frame as opposed to the 920's polycarbonate material. Not sure I'm thrilled with the fact that the memory is non expandable at 16G, perhaps that was part of the trade-off to achieve this light weight, but in all this is a beautiful addition to the Lumia line. |
^ Its just crazy the way this team Tecno swarm the phone section talking down any phone that isn't from their beloved chinese stable. ![]() |
Nascimento: My guy when making a statement please be constructive. From our recent history Nigeria has never been one United nation. I believe you have heard about fulani herdsmen activities in jos and other places. I was a victim, and my dad was almost killed along ogwachi uku road. I need no glasses to identify them.-100 Where is the constructiveness in your post? For starters how will this ban - which has no legal backing therefore is illegal - be enforced? |
Typical Trust Nigerians to celebrate this knee jerk reaction without fully appreciating its consequences. Because many such bans have been proposed by different parties in the past doesn't make this one right. Omunuan has rightly said that this action is open to abuse and does little in dealing with the problem it was mean't to solve yet somehow because many people here seem to be myopic and hot-blooded such considerations will fly right above their heads. Until we have policy makers, leaders and followers who are forward thinking such measures will continue to be proposed and yet will do nothing to improve the situation. |
Pнaитoм: In Order of PopularityWhat part of the ozone layer did you pluck this list from? OK - after noticing OP's moniker - I get it, this is a phantom list ![]() |
How is Windows Phone 8 pulling down Nokia? Since the smartphone revolution that Apple's iPhone triggered back in 2007, Nokia had been struggling with dwindling market share and declining profits until they adopted Microsoft's OS. They have since witnessed a climb in market share and profit since using WP8 platform - yes a profit, something many Nlanders in their android skewed view can scarcely imagine. They have sold 5.6 million Lumia phones in the first quarter of this year and face profitable forecast for the rest of the year.(See this link http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/18/nokia-hits-7-7-billion-in-revenue-for-q1-2013-with-5-8-million/) So the question needs to be reiterated, how is Windows Phone 8 pulling Nokia down? Anyone who suggests that Nokia go the android route hasn't possibly considered the fact that if Nokia were to do so they would struggle to differentiate their products in that very crowded space and very possibly continue their string of yearly losses, indeed very few OEMs aside Samsung are posting anything resembling a decent profit on the android platform. |
Chartey: Google Ssanyong Rexton. It's one of the best SUVs in the world right now. Guess where it's from. You guys are derailing this thread with all this 'Made in China' promotion. Rexton is one of the best SUVs in the world now? Yeah right just like a Tecno mobile is one of the world best phones. Thanks for the laugh guys. |
It's still early days yet, hopefully the number of failed port requests is as a result of technical issues and not "underhand practises" as the newspaper suggests. The on going investigations should clear all that up soon. |
Godvilla: i will neva go the Windows way anymore. Veri veri boring OS.Care to show us how Windows Phone 8 is a very boring OS or should readers dismiss this as another unfounded comment the likes of which are in the majority on this thread? |
See how this thread is overrun by wiseacres posing as techies. Now everyone and their mamas are phone experts. SMH You people can't get past the idea that this phone is aimed at the developing market? And all the Techno worshippers here are yet to demonstrate how their beloved brand outperforms this particular Asha model... The release of this phone is a smart move by Nokia, they are competing in a niche market that is presently underserved with cheap android offerings from Chinese manufacturers and are doing so by presenting a device that comes with the bespoken Nokia build quality. This phone is not built to compete with the IPhones and Galaxies of this world, it is aptly suited for its target market so all the noisemakers here should keep quiet. |
markemordi: All these people talkking about student dont read.student do read but do u people like u dis country cant move forward.u guys should get a job.jobless people dat dont have postive things for dis nation.even d so called parents dat cant even read dat r in high postion in d government go and advise dem nt usYou will do well for yourself by accepting the advice to study and improve yourself not whining here on NL in your poorly worded English. |
PapaBrowne: This report puts an end to a previous argument where ACN goons kept claiming its the state government that installed cameras. In one breath you call for a balanced view and in another you resume the sycophancy again. Excellently well indeed. LOL |
Laudable move, lets hope it is implemented properly. Btw anyone notice the height of the lady on the sample card? 6.5M, she's a giant. (I know the details supplied are fictitious but still. . .) |
Hey OP while you are at it why don't you show us pictures of Pakistan, Afghanistan or Sudan that CNN doesn't want us to see. Like you think CNN has something to gain by hiding certain images. Bias outlook. Much |
KazeKage1: When was Black OPs II released? These cats need to chill yo! I haven't even finished COD BO 2 yet.CoD is usually released every November, BO2 was released last November and this year's Ghosts seems to be in line with maintaining the tradition. |
koruji: Ah, you are missing the point! It is a meaningless statement. His statement bothers on the fallacy of association but actually worse. It is similar to saying "perpetrators of corruption are part of the human race so..."Brilliant. |
Damn, didn't know that photo would blow up like that. Apologies ![]() |
Activision has announced that this year's Call of Duty will be released on the 5th of November and is being developed by Infinity Ward. It will be known as Call of Duty: Ghosts https://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2556239/call-of-duty-ghosts-poster-ign-leak_972.jpg Teaser Photo |
Goes to show that NL is being run down by political tools and propagandists. Abia the safest place in Nigeria indeed. |
Polio has been reported to re emerge in certain parts of the country this year. . . Perhaps Jonathan should take "credit" for that too. Reminds one of the proverb that says the proud chicken thinks that it is it's crow that causes the sun to rise in the mornings. |
onegig: bawss . As much as you might wanna defend microsoft.Windows 8 is graphics wrenching? Honestly, I don't know what you mean by that. When I read complaints about W8 I wonder if the complainers have actually used the OS in the first place. For people who for some reason or the other are bothered by the metro layout,or those whose work requires the traditional desktop layout there is and has always been the Windows key to toggle between layouts. Some people may not like W8 for their own reasons but when you suggest that W8 is a less efficient OS such talk will be speedily dismissed as unfounded. How its unsuited for programming is unclear and a bogus statement too. The usual complaints from users is that of the start button (or lack of), the fact that it boots straight to the start screen and the somewhat limited ability to customize in metro. . . and its to that effect that MS is releasing Windows Blue abi Windows 8.1, kind of like a service pack for W8 with bug fixes and updates and the likes. |
The title of this thread is misleading, not all the CCTV units are vandalized. The question inquiring minds want to have answered though is whether the installed CCTVs are functional and being used by the concerned security bodies. It would be a shame if after all this investment this resource is left to waste especially in a time when the need for security is highest. |
^ Save your condolences, the apocalypse is still a long way off for MS. |
The PS4 reveal is stale news now. What's new is that Microsoft will be announcing its next generation console on the 21st of May https://photos.appleinsider.com/xbox-130424.jpg |
