I know and I have put it to test. I have an accompanying spouse. I got the minimum cut off which gave me 438. If I had gotten the maximum, I would have had 458 and then he would still give me additional 20 points meaning I would have gotten 478. I checked and rechecked.

Then you didn't read my first post properly. Or you're understanding it in another context.
What's the minimum cut off @ bolded? The maximum points you'll get for language as the PA with an accompanying spouse is 128. If and when your spouse takes the test, he or she will add 20 points. If not your maximum point you can get for language is 128 points (CRS points)

I hope I've made myself clearer?

I don't think so. Whether married or not, you can get higher points on your own by increasing the bands to what he recommended.

I hope you've put this theory to test? Let me comment my real reserve
In case you didn't know, you get more points If you're a single applicant or if you have an unaccompanying spouse as opposed to married folks with accompanying spouses.
Please use the CRS tool.

In order to not jeopardize your chances, don't ask him for consent. Instead, inform him you are making a move to claim full custody of the child and get a lawyer to tell him this. Have the lawyer arrange all the documents for him to sign. Effectively, he'll be "giving consent" this way without knowing. Don't mention Canada to him. Else he may just decide to frustrate your plans.

In summary, make a move to legally obtain full custody of your kid.

Ehen! See correct advise.

This is not culture. This is trying to runaway with what belongs to two people. Don't sugar coat it. So you will just wake up now and hear your baby mama/father has taken your child to Canny without your consent. I will bring down that embassy.

I am laughing in Swahili.... story for the gods.

If I even read her post well sef she's responsible for the child and the supposed babydaddy is married and has his own family. She has gone to Canada sef as in 'already' like my daughter would say.
Just consult a lawyer and make it AIRTIGHT perhaps full parental rights from the courts. Your application may just take longer because they'll verify but you'll be okay.

Hey people, I didn't do well in ielts. LRSW 5,4.5,7,6 (overall 6). However, hubby as the PA has 8 in listening which brings our score to 461. Is there any need for me to write the test again and hope it won't affect us?

Anybody with similar experience in the house?

What are his scores in RW and S? In your case, you don't have to worry as some spouses don't even bother taking the English proficiency test. Try and calculate your CRS without your IELTS if it's within the last 3 cut off draws which I think it should.
Goodluck.

Well, your expectation might just be cut short cos there's no part in the application where she would need to produce such document.

Some single mothers have only their names on the child's birth certificate. It's not really a big deal... maybe culturally here in Nigeria, but not in most developed countries.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

No baby.. have you tried to get PCC from any GCC nations? someone from previous thread was very irritated at the process of getting PCC from Angola or so if i am not mistaken. He has been on it for over 2 months with no head way. if you have lived in Iraq some years back, how easy do you think you can get PCC from there? My friend who stayed in SA has applied for PCC for over a month now, he still does not have it. Infact, he hasnt submitted his application because of that. It is a general rule to all PCC, no special preference to FBI's

I believe I said MOST sir. I only know FBI so thats my example. However, these other countries that take long are part of the 'exceptional circumstances' CIC stated.
Goodluck to all on this journey.

Okay. But you are not getting the point

You're the one not getting the point. I first said that's the rule. Then I said especially for FBI not exclusive to FBI.

Let me comman be going.
Happy Sallah everybody!

Modified: Your extract from CIC says 'exceptional circumstances'. I dont know what to say after that.

Actually not just for FBI PCC. It's for all PCCs

Most PCCs don't take 3 months to get. So it's especially for FBI.

Congrats!

Remarkable they found evidence for PCC request sufficient
. Not surprised though, cos they stated that's as valid.

It's funny how people make their own laws for CIC, even when it should be understood that every application is judged on its own merit.

But that's the rule especially for FBI PCC. If you're almost at your deadline and your FBI hasn't come through, you submit with proof that you've requested it. They usually give 2 months deadline to upload it.

i identify as christain but these days i am more of an agonist, inshort i find it hard to fit in one particular label when it comes to religious views. nonetheless, you made some sterling point. background and values does matter. i would look up the data of the rate of divorce in canada to see if i am worrying over nothing sha.

I think there was some miscontruism, counting who has what in a marriage is not the wahls. my worry is paying hefty sums in mortgage for a house i had to give up on, or still servicing an ex, i'd like to think after a divorce one should be allowed to lick his wounds and forget about it, dont see how thats possible with monthly debits, it is scary.. especially if i am not the one seeking for the divorce.

i guess i am putting the cart before the horse, for now lemme focus on getting the pr, if i do get to canada and it turns out the marriage thing is too much of a slippery slope for me, i would see what a prenup can do for me or stay single.

When you get to Canada try and see a Psychotherapist (shrink). Or better still look for one now while you're in Nigeria.

Thank me later.

The HST thing is another issue I had , cos i also lived in UK.
the annoying part is it is for every single item, even if u buy a new car of 20K and u see the HST am sure it will hurt a bit.
I think Alberta has the lowest, its 13 percent in Ontario and even more in Quebec

I guess it evens out as you live and work there... right?

Lol trust me, I know exactly what you mean. I had a hard time adjusting in Canada when I moved from the UK. I couldn't get over the tax thing. You see $20 on the shelf, you get to the till and they tell you $23.50. I'm like can't you just add the tax and display it on the shelf so when I see the price, I know if I can afford it or not? grin
On the real though, if you have lived in the UK, especially South England and paid rent/bought a house.....surviving in Canada will be a BREEZE! You'll find Canada cheap. You are spending Eliza's head grin

Lol... I guess it's a shock to most of us. I just hated that tax thing. And it's like 13% or something like that. Just plain ridiculous. I had to drive to Niagra falls(US side)like 2 times for most of my shopping. My hubby only bought a pair of shoes in Canada so he could get rid of his CAD.
People say we'll adjust once we live there. Well, we don't really have a choice now, do we?

Hello Ewa agoyin grin grin you too worry o.. Calm down and take a deep breath. You need to fill your own form and your spouse needs to fill his. You don't need to scan old passports. Just scan the present one you have into one file and send to them. The way you are going, don't complicate your application. Give onl requirements. Don't over load your app with info they don't need. By the time your application goes for fraud screening, you will have a lot of documents for them to work on. So give them only what is required. Pm me if you need anything. I remember you from giving birth column. You sef epp me there o

Uncle bigfido you're giving wrong info o.
The form is for more clarification that's why It's an ADR. It's only the principal applicant that fills it and there's a space for spouse and dependent children over 18. (FILL for your spouse as well on the same document) If the space isn't enough use an extra sheet ( I used word). Proceed to scan your passports as you've said. Attach all documents and upload in the new place holder provided.
Goodluck!

In my opinion, you should be fine. I used my account (Hubby's the PA)and I wrote a letter of consent and signed ( I didn't notarise).

Most they can do is ask for an updated POF. But I think you're fine sha.

My spouse didn't assess his degree so, there was no place holder for education for him, which means there was nowhere to upload his IELTS.
How do I submit his IELTS result now that I've already submitted my application?

Hmmm.... I didn't claim points for my degree too as I didn't evaluate it but I was required to still upload my certificates and IELTS.
Please explain while filling your EE there's a part where they ask for your spouse's degrees then there's a drop down if evaluated, I chose not evaluated so we didn't get points for that but there was still a place holder to upload degree certificates. Was that the case for you?Perhaps raise a CSE with all the degree and IELTS cert and explain.
*or maybe you should have added to to your LOE slot.

People keep saying you must upload Ielts and ECA. Pls that's false. The only certificate required is your University degree certificate that was assessed during your ECA. I didnt upload my Ielts n ECA. However if you feel better uploading all no probs.

Just because you were one of the lucky ones that got away with not uploading your IELTS and ECA doesn't mean you should mislead others. You could have just written your experience as opposed to discrediting other people's advise ( calling it false).
New comers please always try and refer to the CIC website as they constantly update what documents they need from you. Please attach your IELTS and ECA to your degree certificates, it's what IRCC requires.
There's no point in being refused for something you could have done right.
This journey is draining enough....
