E don dey look like it sha. 2 schools gave me greenlight. 4 Profs. responded quite warmly and positively but I still need to wait till like August before I shoot. I no dey sleep, always researching. Although, I go still apply for MA too make I no come jonze. I emailed Imperiouxx alma mater and they said they can only admit me for Masters and not straight PhD. That I should go ahead and apply for MA.

Just go with 1500. Try and go early so your mail can leave naija the same day.

@juntod just got back from Nahco post office.
The place is quite rough. Too many agents hanging around the cargo area. I just locked up and walked straight to the post office.

The woman there said that if I came earlier my mail would have left Nigeria today. That post office is the last port of call. Really efficient. I paid 1300 for the mail to wes.

Any school that charges more than 1500-2500 for transcript is not considerate to students

we thought of using WES but after reading numerous reviews of poor customer service,needless delays and poor document management,it looks like using the service might be counter-productive.

Is there any other acceptable means to send these transcripts without spending the above amount?

slimmy05: PhD admission is good. Once your cgpa and GRE results are good, you have a chance of getting admitted. Not all that applied get admitted as they have slots which are quite few. Funding/ grant is not for all. There are some schools willing to give you admission without funding, but would not advice you to venture into it as its very expensive.

PhD admission has a high chance of funding. I see no reason going for PhD without funding.

And only a foolish school expects a student to take up such an investment for 5 years when the returns on post docs is not even good.
In contrast to for example medical or Lawsschool you know once you grad you can start earning big so they can take loans etc but post docs dont really earn much. Even profs. So why would a same student take up such financial responsibility? I guess this is why most phds are funded.
