marvix:Very apt argument. However, many Nigerians prefer emotional arguments to the cold logic that will drive the nation forward. Many enemies of the country also push emotional arguments because it suits their corrupt pockets. |
oyb:Crap points don finis? Its ranting time! Weyyyyy!!!!! None of the above crap has anything to do with Ekiti sacking disabled Nigerians from school, learn to think critically. |
My state contributes a great chunk of the banking industry and the nations press. The people are industrious and entrepreneural, 5 out of the ten richest Nigerian's hail from there. We are hosts to Nigeria's first and largest ocean fishing industries and see food farms. My state also produces the vast proportion of the nations gas, hosts two important power stations, a refinery and produces 33% of the nations crude oil. My state is, Delta State, the big heart. |
^ Lol! Eko Ile type crap flowing freely and easily. Na wa! ![]() |
Happy couple. Real smiles. |
Aigbofa: ![]() I keep hearing these weird arguments about Delta state. Referring to a flooded school that has been destroyed by storms and abandoned is just a cheap escape route that would seem to point to support for the bigotted actions of the Ekiti state governor. Stop sending out a confused picture and maintain the admirably dignified stance you have chosen on this subject so far or fully join those who are for the governors actions. The actions of the Ekiti state govt could indeed be presented to the UN for investigation, because they go beyond the pale of what is acceptable, normal human behaviour. |
Obiagu1:You will find that these sorry souls are the worst of hypocrites and the enemies of Nigeria's future. They are only acting true to type. The realisation that they could actually make attempts on my life occurred to me several months ago, especially with the extremely crude behaviour of the likes of Gbawe, Demdem, Rhino.5dm (an unfortunate hanger-on) and a couple of others. They are a ridiculous bunch who think they can scare or threaten people into shutting up in order for them to control information with their lies. They think observers do not notice. The truth cannot be hidden and they have failed. ![]() What can be expected from a pack of thugs and touts posing as "progressives?" LOLZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! |
First of all, Ekiti was a poor state; too poor for its government to be human. That specious argument has now been rumbled and kicked over the hedge. The latest escape route is to claim some strange indigenisation stuff. The confused likes of oyb have quoted copiously from American sources. Is Ekiti in the US? Na wa! Even then, do US citizens from other states need some sort "indigenisation" before they can become citizens? Lol! The Nazi-like arguments just keep flooding in. I wonder if the anti-human rights proponents here actually think Ekiti state exists outside the Nigerian constitution (especially its residency clauses), which is why they make the incredibly nebulous arguments about "indigenisation." Is there some sort of shrine or voodoo hut in Ekiti that non-indigenes need to attend, or just what is this so-called "indigenisation?" The "indigenisation" argument reeks of the vilest form of discrimanatory policies, driven solely by ethnic bigotry. Exclusion from school today, ethnic cleansing tomorrow; its the slow creep to babies heads being chopped open and their mothers burnt alive as occurs in Jos. Its a path to evil, backwardness, primitivity, barbarity and shamelessness. In my opinion, this matter needs to be mentioned to the UN as another case of the violation of the human rights of children in Nigeria. |
@jmaine Dude, I really hail you! You are a true example of what a human should be. I have really enjoyed the spectacle that has unfolded with the bigot army thinking you were Igbo or from some other "Igbo-like" group, only to find that you are Ekiti through and through! Its the starkest of stark expositions of black and white. You represent an endangered specie. Please keep it up. Impressive! ![]() |
Another deep sea port for Nigeria being fast tracked. I wish the same will happen to the proposed railway lines. |
FEC approves Jonathan’s N6bn request for Onne port development Written by Leon Usigbe, Abuja Thursday, 27 October 2011 THE Federal Executive Council (FEC), on Wednesday, gave an anticipatory approval to President Goodluck Jonathan’s request for the award of contract to fast- track the development of phase four of port facilities at Onne Port Complex at the cost of $370,481,720.42 or about N6billion. The contract, which would be implemented under the Ministry of Transport/Nigerian Port Authority, is in favour of Messrs Intels (Nig) Ltd, and has a 40 months completion period. According to the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who briefed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting presided over by Vice- President Namadi Sambo in Abuja, the construction of Onne Port complex began in the early 80s as one of the strategies of decongesting Lagos and Port Harcourt Ports. He said though the phase three of the port had been completed, the facilities at the port were inadequate to cope with the high demand of the oil and gas industry. Maku, who was flanked by the Minister of Transport, Senator Idris and the Minister of Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, said the project would generate 2,500 job opportunities directly and indirectly during execution while over 20,000 job opportunities would be created when the facilities are in operation. http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/30316-fec-approves-jonathans-n6bn-request-for-onne-port-development |
emiye:How many states have accessed the UBE funds? The reason those states are not accepting the funds is because there are stringent standards and an accountability trail attached. States avoid it so they can build juju shrines and claim to have built real schools; Ogun has N2.2 billion in UBE funds waiting to be collected, yet that voodoo school exists. |
oyedepo1:The only way to force Nigerians to see political positions as a sacrifice is to reduce the centralisation of govt money in a few places (Abuja and state capitals). As long as there are eye watering sums of money concentrated in those places, we will have criminals elbowing out those with the genuine will to serve. The Pat Utomi's will never get a foot in the door. The only way to reduce the centralisation of govt money in a few places is to distribute it to the 770 LGA's and weaken both state govts and the federal govt. If we do that, 90% of Nigeria's problems will be solved. We only need the FG to maintain and manage national institutions and standards. |
LOLZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! I really see strong similarities between oyb and Eko Ile! Chatting shiit with bravado and bursting their anal veins like their gonna die. ![]() Are you guys related? |
emiye:Yes, its true that there are under the tree classrooms, but they do not present the terrible visual shock and imagery of corruption that "school" delivers. I have never seen anything so horrible except for almajiri "school's," but nobody refers to those contraptions as schools. One important correction to your analysis; the national cake is not used to build secondery schools (except they are Unity schools). The delivery of education and provision of schools is the responsibilty Ogun state, so it carries the blame. The most that can be done to involve the FG, is ask why standards where allowed to drop without question. That is a relevant question that needs asking; whatever happened to school inspectors and similar standards institutions? Ogun state can also be accused of the same failure if the school is owned by an LG. |
^ My guy, I have never ever seen a school that even looks remotely like that and I don waka. |
^ Guardian journalist that was shot at his door in Lagos a couple of years ago. |
oyb is the new version of Eko Ile. LOLZZZZ!!!!! You could just switch usernames on their posts and not notice a difference! Na winsh? |
Revolutnz:That is no excuse. Most of those kids will not be able to compete with their peers and would need to be gifted in one or two areas to be able to tell an "I had no shoes" story. Lets not shirk our responsibilities to those kids, because other people have beaten the severe odds to rise to high station. Most of those kids will have stunted futures, perhaps those unfortunate pics even capture the faces of several future armed robbers. We are the ones manufacturing them in those schools that look like abandoned shrines. |
jmaine:Na wa! Pesin go fear fear for dis NL! ![]() |
PointB:Na so o! We don't need a lion or tiger that will engage the owners of Nigeria frontally and be bloodied. Afterall, Obj couldn't even dent them. |
jmaine:Are you sure? Lol! |

D sage:Subsidy is not a birthright. The main issue is the welfare of the people. If creative means are implemented to alleviate the effect on the poor, then I'll say the removal can go ahead. From what Deziani has said, the subsidy alleviation package will be handled transparently by the private sector; it is for us to ask how this would be done and to ensure that there are adequate checks and balances. |

FG Raises Panel On Fuel Subsidy Removal Tony Ailemen 26 October 2011 Abuja — Federal Government yesterday said it has raised an advisory panel on the removal of fuel subsidy. This was as it said no specific date has been fixed for the take off of the planned removal of Petroleum subsidy. Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison Madueke said this in Australia while speaking at a business parley with foreign investors. The think-thank team, she said, would advise government on the process for the removal of the subsidy as well as manage the gains from subsidy removal. "This committee is made up of highly respected Nigerians and would be saddled with the responsibility of managing the gains," she said. The minister who spoke to some newsmen at the ongoing Commonwealth Business Forum in Perth, Australia also explained that government opted for the removal of subsidies as all punitive measures put in place to curtail racketeering failed to yield the desired results. She however said President Goodluck Jonathan was more eager than any other Nigerian to ensure that the people get full benefits if petroleum subsidies must be removed. "It is has become pertinent that we find other ways to utilize the vast resources that are been channeled into the subsidy which are not reaching the masses. This time around, once we are actually met with the various stakeholders and agreed on a formula, setting major deregulatory benefits would be put on the table. "Government would not handle the implementation of these benefits, so that it would be opened and transparent. As we speak a committee of a highly-respected Nigerians is being put together, who would monitor and advice. Ofeibea Quist-Arcton "And there are major benefits that will cut across all major sector of the economy. Some of them involves road works, major public maintenance work, others involve ongoing mass transportation; there are schemes for skilled youths and also schemes for unskilled youth and of course there will be areas for maternity and child care etc. but we shall ensure that cross the board that the package is robust and monitored and advised on by Nigerians of high integrity so that it is clear that it is a credible and transparent process. "In the area of public works, we shall not go through the government channels as usual, as Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) would be set up specifically to handle it so that we don't get bogged down in the usual manner of process and procurement issues. "Mr. President is adamant that if we remove subsidy we must give Nigerians the full benefits and mitigate the full impact of that removal. "I think as painful as it is to us as a government it is quite clear that the issue of subsidies have not worked in the manner in which they were intended for the Nigerian masses. the intention of course was to relieve the suffering of the masses across the board by ensuring that our petroleum products are subsidized to give them a comfortable level of procuring the products, unfortunately, since we came into government as a continuum over a year ago, it has become quite clear that the majority of the subsidies were actually going to the middle line operators." She said the issue of subsidies not reaching the people has been of a great concern to the government. "We have fought hard to try to ensure that it does. I think that all Nigerians will be very happy, we cannot please all the people all the time but I think most Nigerians will be happy with quantum and impact of all the parameters that we are putting in place to ensure that what we are saying would actually be done. "Take kerosene for example, government subsidizes at the tune of about N105 per liter, the landing cost is about N145 per liter, we sell to the middle line operators at N40 per liter, which means that we are subsidizing at N105 per liter and we expect that it will reach the consumer or the masses at roughly N50 per liter that is our recommended price, but as we all know, it reaches them at a more higher cost. On the average right now, it costs N85 per litter. There has been time when it has been over N100 per liter. "And this is very painful for us. We have flooded the market with the product, yet there is still some part of the country where the product remains fairly high cost wise, which means that the middle line operators are gaining both ways. They receive the subsidy from government and at the same time they are charging the consumers double and sometimes more than double the price. In order words the masses are not gaining the benefit of this heavy subsidization. She said all measures put in place to arrest the situation in the past including closing down businesses and stations failed. She also put part of the blame for the astronomical rise in cost of subsidy on the increase in price of the product at the international market. She also doubted the possibility of government implementing the removal of subsidy in the coming year as planned, as she noted that not until all discussions are concluded and agreement reached, it would be wrong to give a definite date. "We are still in the discussions with labour and other stakeholders. Until that is finished I don't think it is right to give any definite date for the roll out of the implementation of subsidy removal. We are still in discussion with major stakeholders including the National Assembly. The minister who also spoke on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) said at the moment the situation is not in the hand of the executive as the bill is still before the National Assembly. "It becomes almost illegal for the executive to officially write on the matter to the National Assembly," she said and noted however that government is working "hand in hand in such a momentous and critical bill of the oil and gas sector of our economy. We have a very distinguished committee set up which has looked already at a lot of interesting part of the bill that were posing some discomfort in some areas such as the fiscal and commercialization of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation". http://allafrica.com/stories/201110260934.html |
icez:It is the ethnic bigots who think it is a war with Delta state; they cannot see the immense danger in the escalating actions primed by ethnic bigotry in Nigeria. I am sure there were a series of t!t for tat oppressive actions in Jos before mothers and their tiny babies were chopped in two or burnt alive. The Nazi party started with words, then increasingly tougher actions, then imprisonments and finally ended with war and gruesome massacres of the sort that would make a serial killer grimace in horror. |
Chuck D:The bolded expresses what many might be thinking. There are many more Ekiti people in Delta state than there are Deltans in Ekiti, but we will never stoop to that level. In my opinion, a poor state like Ekiti is really stirring up the hornets nest. I see other similarly poor states engaging in copy cat actions out of the very same debased bigotry that pushed the Ekiti governor to act the way he did. It is a very sad day indeed. |
^ The customs men did not auction the goods to their mates, no customs man has that animal courage. They "auctioned" them to govt officials of the time and their cronies. I don't see why GEJ should watch his back, afterall we all want a country that is liberated from corruption. |

Silly site indeed
In the developed World, people like you are actually sent to jail for their online behaviour. I see that happening too in Nigeria, its just a matter of time before someone takes legal action on something said online, it might not be on NL, but it will open eyes and focus minds. The way a person behaves online or anywhere for that matter, says something about their real life psyche and morality. Most vile people online are either vile in the real World, or are total cowards who take advantage of anonimity; either way, they are scum. |
djustice:I feel you, bro. There is much too much slacking from Abuja with politics in Lagos, the party needs to be taken by the scruff of the neck and rebuilt with credible people that possess the energy to marshall success and freeze Tinubu in hell. |
