Lol! Inconsequential scarab.

koruji:
I guess you have changed your mind as usual - Rail lines do pass through Dagbolu and Osogbo afterall.

Only now Dagbolu is 15-20 km from Osogbo. Is that measuring from the governors office, powerline, steel rolling mill, Osun State University, Alekuwodo or where?

If you were not reading with jaded eyes, you would know that Aregbesola indeed spoke of NRC "REPAIRING" that particular station.

You came up with a map with no stopping points in Ibadan or Osogbo and went to town saying there were no rail lines there. When that was proved otherwise, you went on and on about Dagbolu being the one with no rail lines. Now that a google map actually includes Dagbolu on a rail line that goes all the way down south and up north, you have like a chameleon that you are decided it was last used in 1932.

A station and a rail line are two different things - get it?

Pray tell me which line was your dear leader GEJ was speaking about here:
Changed my mind? Lol! You are clowning as usual not so? You even quoted the post where I said Dagbolu used to have a railway line in the time of Hitler (I told you your battery was weak earlier, didn't I?).

Anyways, back to business. Is a skeleton alive? Can something that was used during Hitlers time and of a different guage from modern trains be called a railway line by a sensible person? Lol!
Dude, you still haven't told us if you saw Lord Lugard or Mungo Park waiting to board the train that you saw at Dagbolu.

Only in RASCAL country!

Dude, say hello to "auntie." grin grin grin

@Garth

You are right, I've looked at the pdf at the link you supplied and seen that inland waterways are going to be delivered from Lagos to Warri and also from Onne to Onitsha.

Really. You are this DAFT.

You are providing convincing evidence that there is something fundamentally wrong with your thinking patterns.

Meanwhile, for the second time today below is your educations. See Dagbolu right on the rail line. Even on your half-baked map the traffic goes through Dagbolu, even though whoever did the drawing pretended there are no Ibadan or Osogbo rail lines. It is not as if Nigeria has spur lines all over the place.

Dagbolu is in Osogbo. I have personally walked across the rail lines both in Osogbo and Ibadan, so just give it up.
Poor thing.

Firstly, Dagbolu is about 10-15 kilometres from Osogbo, secondly that railway line was last used in 1932. Na only bush and rats de deh nowadays, maybe if you had looked carefully while walking, just maybe you would even have seen Mungo Park or Lord Lugard.

GAR3TH:
Lagos is not the only city that has a deep sea port, you also have warri, port harcourt, Onne and calabar. If anything its warri, port harcourt, onne and calabar that will be affected not Lagos. But i don't think Onitsha port has the capability to make a dent in any economic system. Onitsha river port is alot smaller than the other ports in the nation due to the fact that its a River port which means it will carry alot less traffic.

The river Niger CAN NOT carry cargo ships because its not deep enough even though it has been dredge. Most likely ferries or barges will be used to carry the cargo, which means the cargo ships will have to dock at lagos or onne and the goods will be transfered onto a ferry or barge which will then take it to onitsha.

Add to the fact that Onitsha river port doesn't YET have any direct rail connections like Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt or Onne (u/c) I don't think onitsha port will be taking away any economic activity nor decongesting any other port in the nation.

the only thing the port will do is bring economic activity to onitsha and asaba.
.

Link below is for Nigeria's Transportation masterplan

http://fmt.gov.ng/uploads/NTM_Summary_July_2006.pdf
The dredging is from Warri to Baro; in other words, there is a direct connection between Warri Port and Onitsha for the importation of goods. So why would anybody berth a ship in Lagos only to float barges past Warri to Onitsha? With Onne, its plausible, but for tiny cargoes.

Thanks, dude; much appreciated. You wouldn't believe that our greatest knockdowns have been from Nigerians; at the time we started out a couple of years ago, we wrote to the Nigerian, Ghanian, South African and Jamaican govts. Only Ghana and SA replied, SA in particular wished us the best.

As for the boys doing wonders in the back streets, hopefully we will be able to collect them wherever they are and marshall them into a technological force.

Is your interest in IP from the legal viewpoint; in other words are you a lawyer?

ACN is a party that takes the scoop for hypocricy, corruption and outright lying (they helped scheme Tambuwal in).

A couple of things I stand for unreservedly, are development and uprightness. To that end, I see the likes of Tambuwal, Bankole, Gbenga Daniel, Ibori and Tinubu as great enemies of Nigerian society; Tinubu especially is a purveyor of the politics of ethnic bigotry and dangerous separatism.

@ beaf- guy what's this afroscience gig about? Checked the site, is it an event or a one off event? Question2 - intellectual property issues will definitely come up, is the relevant regulatory agency being carried along? I'm not a scientist but a curious cat
There is a Chineses proverb that says; give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, each a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime.

Its an idea me and a couple of friends came up with to get communities involved with technology by teaching and giving out free ideas they can produce and sell as they wish; the simple act of profiting from street level technology will grow self esteem and multiply opportunities for real technological breakthroughs from our own people. It would also help to raise the quality of life in participating communities in exponential cycles. In simple words, it is a new kind of charity that both gives and teaches people to fish, rather than simply give them fish.
At a later stage, we will also help with patent costs if need be, because they are way out of reach of the average African inventor (since it costs roughly $5000.00, or up to $20,000.00 for big companies).

We will also strive to identify those with inventive talents from early in their lives so that we can provide positive support to grow and nurture their talents so that they can blossom and profit from their brainwork; right now it is deeply frustrating and hellish to be an inventor in a place like Nigeria. Yet, we need these people in order to develop.
Hausa culture is different from Islamic teachings of those scholars you highlighted. Though the latter has influenced and submerged the former immensely.
I wrongly attributted the quote to Sheikh Gumi, it was Ustaz Idris Abdulaziz (see below):

The Almajiri Bill
. . .
I cannot see how colonialism or neocolonialism has anything to do with trying to make the lives of these children better. Almajirci is purely a Hausa culture in which the Almajirai are separated from the loving warmth of their parents very early in life. It is in fact un-Islamic because the child is Allah’s trust to the parent who is supposed to cater for his well-being, education, health, discipline and proper moral upbringing. Ustaz Idris Abdulaziz, an Islamic Scholar in Bauchi, gave credence to this in a THISDAY interview in 2007 when he dismissed the claim that Almajirci is an Islamic culture. He said it is “a Hausa culture” pure and simple. Of all the countries in the world with a substantial number of Muslims, he further explained, the practice is found only in Nigeria from where it spread to other surrounding West African countries.

If Kubica was still active, I'd add him, but it is really hard to keep rating Kubica after a year of being out with injury. I have real doubts he'll ever be the same, most F1 drivers come back after huge shunts and quit (even top ones like Stirling Moss), Massa is the odd one, but then he wasn't out as long as Kubica would have been when the next season kicks off.

Stop bellittling yourself by putting child abuse on a scale by saying that it is worse in one area of the country than others. These Children, who are God's children by the way, need our support in everyway.

This issue is too serious and disgraceful to be politicized by you.
Politicising the issue is exactly what I will accuse you of. It is the only reason (aside from pride) that would make you not accept the perfectly obvious fact that the almajiri issue is 100% a core-Northern problem; and not just an ordinary problem, but one driven by cultural beliefs and practices. To put it in stack terms, almajirinci derives from Hausa culture (that is a fact acknowledged by Islamic scholars of renown like Sheik Gumi).

The greatest support you can give GEJ will be for the leaders to drive for cultural rebirth of the sort that will abolish the almajiri institution, child marriages, begging etc that are endemic in the core-North. These things are a terrible disgrace, Nigeria is specially marked out by the UN for child marriages of girls as young as 10 in places like Kebbi and Zamfara.
