Delafruita: i still maintain that jonathan shouldnt have gone to brazil for any reason.however,if he is indeed able to get the brazilians to come and invest, then thats a plus to him.leadership isnt always about doing the seemingly right thing, its about taking steps to make people's lives better even if they dont approve of the process.for those citing boko haram as a hinderance to investment,i hope they realise the bboko haram menace is limited to some states in the north.we have 36 states in this country and each state has investment potentials.mexico has its drugs problems but that hasnt stopped foreign investors.same as colombia, cuba and even zimbabwe.businessmen want to make money and will go anywhere money can be made
I love this post.

The visit which is on the invitation of President Jonathan is to seek Brazilian expertise in the areas of mechanized agriculture, power generation and other sectors that Brazil has comparative advantage over Nigeria.
Cool move GEJ!
Aside from her obvious interest and commitments in our power sector, Brazil is a leader in many fields Nigeria might be interested in, especially ethanol production. ALL Brazilian cars run on a mixture of ethanol and petrol; the is NO car in todays Brazil that runs on 100% petrol. They have corn for ethanol production, we have cassava which produces high grade ethanol. So why not?

Brazil is also a World leader in the production of beef, they could show us a thing or two about how not to walk cows from Sokoto to Warri and make millions. They have one of the most advanced agri-industrial technological bases in the World and would make much better partners than most other countries. It could be a match made in heaven.

Go GEJ!
Fresh Air! cool

most of you already have your mind made up from day 1 about hausa people so much that even if you saw a picture of an hausa man smiling at an ibo, you will point to it as evidence for sinister behavior. na today?

Politics › Re: Campaign Against Your Rep Member by Beaf(op): 2:22am On Jun 22, 2012
noiseless: Nice one beaf.
Thanks, bro. Full appreciation to you for initiating the idea.

GAR3TH: In order to make any state or LG productive you first have to get rid of the ones that dont work. If your leg dies and is unusable the doctor will cut it off because it is pointless and will only drag you back. That is the same thing with the states and LGAs. Nigeria has created so many states and LGAs that many of them have become a liability and are just pointless.

Nigeria's main problem is not really corruption but rather the larger unnecessary size of government. We currently have 6 LGAs governing an area in which 1 single lga can do with ease. so the budget that should be going to one large LGAs is now divided up and given to 6 LGAs. Mind you that means 6 times the salaries paid because each new LGA has to have a chairman, ministers, commissioners etc. Thats also means less money for roads, schools, etcs and why LGAs today practically do nothing. All because we have divided LGAs up so much that all they can do with the little funds they have left is pay salaries.

Its because of the large number of pointless governments in nigeria that we dont have the money to do simple things like build roads. I say we should reduce the number states and LGAs from 36 and 774 to a more reasonable amount that will not choke up our nations budget with pointless recurrent expenditures and government positions. Does nigeria really need 36 states and 774 LGAs? didn't nigeria progress when we had less states?

You can talk about corruption and accountability all you want but it does not fix the fact that many LGAs have 90% recurrent expenditures and some states have 60% plus. Why? Because many off them are cancers that suck they nations budget dry with their pointless political positions/governments. I believe i gave this example in another forum, if you own a business and you know you only need 5 workers why would you hire 20 workers? So why should nigeria have 36 states and 774 LGAs when in the past we had 12 states and ~200 LGAs with no problem.
You have a point about the bureaucracy swallowing up needed funds. It would surely help to have fewer LG's, however, we have what we have and it would be difficult, even impossible to reverse the current LG number.

More than anything, if all LG's were industrialised, then their number would be of no consequence. The aim of this thread is to seek the feasibility of galvanising grassroots support to demand accountability and development. There is not a single Nigerian LG that cannot be productive, all we need is some degree of creativity that will make them see the current anormaly of Abuja funding as seed funds to start them off on the entreprenueral journey.

The long and short is that our LG's should be run like businesses that must generate profit. That is what happens all over the World and Nigerians are not less capable. It is just that we do not care whether our LG's and state govts function, so long as we get a pittance on our tables. Thats a bad place to be for able bodied people.

Gbawe: Gbam !!! "Ogbeni Ekiti" is always found wanting "when the chips are down" or frolicking , very unusually, with his divisive pals who denigrate and demonize his claimed origin yet, hypocritically, his most toxic bile is reserved for the poster who deliberately refrains from ethnic rancour yet speaks , consistently, only to defend his ethnic group, Nation and Countrymen when the "chips are down".

Characters like Jmaine do not understand that sincerity of purpose cannot be bought in a market. It is what keeps some doing the same thing successfully , to universal praise, for decades while others cannot even manage such for a day because of serious innate flaws and character deficiencies.
How can a man with grey hairs sticking out of his geriatric anus reduce politics to ethnicity? How is it possible for anyone with a single civilised fibre in their being to refer to an individual as a bastard simply because he does not support ACN. What are we to expect on the streets from your type? Killer gangs, knee breakers and ethnic enforcers?

Phuck ACN! It is not an ethnic group, but a mushroom political party of NURTW types; a gathering of unprincipled men, scum and bigots. It is a wannabe Nazi/fascist setup where thugs thrive, led by a drug baron.

It is this same primitive outlook on life that makes you boko harams NL cheerleader.

Words of a fool. Sophisticated people do not blow kids up.
What is really wrong with those who use the phrase, "we are too sophisticated" in Nigeria? Are they sick in the mind? angry

Please, do not tinks that I is gloating (I is! grin).

Blah blah! And the usual excuses and tosh for the "real" British driver! More blah and wonderful blah!
Then the bomb!...

With the standard set-ups for Button and Hamilton apparently having deviated away from each other, the support between the two garages is very limited - so McLaren now appears to be looking to steer a more collaborative direction.

By pooling resources between the two garages in Valencia this weekend, they hope to get a more converged car set-up that performs well for both drivers.

This could provide significant benefit — as it effectively doubles the amount of time the team has to work towards set-up on the Friday — but it needs both sides of the garage to be happy to take a steer from each other's findings.

It's generally recognised that McLaren has the best car on the grid — but with only one driver on form, they risk throwing away the potential of a strong constructors' crown.

If Hamilton and his engineers can be convinced to help Button recover for the good of the team, then McLaren could rise to the top as the season heads towards a crucial point.
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/will-gray/gray-matter-hamilton-help-button-132622565.html

What this means in English:
1. Prior to this, Lewis engineers had already been handed over to Jenson, now Lewis brain is about to be handed to Jenson too. The innocent sounding phrase "pooling resources" simply means Lewis feedback would be used to set up Jensons car.
2. Despite Jensons boast that this years car was designed to suit him, Lewis has done a better job with it.
3. Jenson might begin copying Lewis's driving style.

What I wouldn't like to see would be further contrived nonsense, like McLaren telling Lewis to save fuel when there was no need to, and telling him Button wouldn't pass him if he did, like happened in the 2010 Turkish grand prix. Lewis had was told that Jenson too had been ordered to save fuel, but it was a lie. Jenson passed him.

Politics › Spoiler In The Crystal Ball - Political Map Of The SW In 2015 by Beaf(op):
I'll keep it simple and sweet.

2014
Aregbesola loses his bid for a second term to the PDP due to his gross underperformance. This leads to a domino effect in which Tinubu's defacto number two engaes in a furious legal battle, while the many opponents and enemies he has garnered with his quixotisms and megalomania sieze the opportunity to unleash volleys of poisoned arrows.
The fallout from that lose could prove epic.

2015
Creaking at the seams from the loss of Osun, ACN loses its regional potency and its alliance plans with CPC fray and unravel.
The emotional chasms caused by the choosing of candidates in Ogun and Oyo take as much a toll as the non-performance of their governors (airconditioned footbridges and all). It is well known that the PDP only lost both these states due to internal warfare; even with several PDP men squaring it out using proxy political platforms, the results were still menacingly close. Think what the new found unity of the SW PDP would acheive.
Summary - Ogun and Oyo fall to the PDP with Ekiti not far behind.

Final result:
Osun - PDP
Oyo - PDP
Ogun - PDP
Ekiti - PDP?

There is one proviso in all these permutations. If Edo state falls to the PDP, then give up, 2015 will see ACN go the way of AD.

Eziachi: Can you name one bakery that use cassava in Nigeria?
I bet you buy cassava bread every morning before exporting to others. Jamaican invented and enjoyed reggae music first before exporting it to the world. I am off to Jamaica for a wedding this Sept, give me the name of the Jamaican cassava bread/biscuit that you mentioned and I will check it out or even here in Brixton.
Try bammy (Jamaican) or try this Chinese cassava treat: Walkers Sensations Oriental Crackers Peking Spare Rib (its pure cassava).
Also, next time you sit in a Chinese restaurant, feeling cool and "above cassava," while eating prawn crackers in Brixton (or wherever), know that you are eating cassava, which the Chinese (like the Jamaicans) are not ashamed of.

Bruv, your low self-esteem is Nigeria's developmental burden. Self pride fuels development, so as it is, you really are not much use to the country's match forwards. That is why you are here, supporting lies.

I have food-making factories home and abroad; I started this with my hard-earned money, not with loan or Government aid- I see myself a lucky chap. United Kingdom, an exemplary case-study, gives out loan to her citizens for education, health-care and others with a infinitesimal or no interest.
