No doubt that the growth figures are beyond contest - but the lie from GEJ is to attest those growth figures to stable electricity in the last quarter of 2010

what stable electricity i ask ? prior to sept to Dec 2010 power generation was fluctuating between 2600 mw to about 3000mw

the growth mentioned happened because of reliance on generators and not PHCN
What is your proof that the growth figures are not to do with electricity? None? Who told you the rubbish you're spilling, was it your mai guard?
. . .The rumour mongering pattern keeps repeating! Proof! Proof sir is what we need!

EKONGKING:
At 8.29% GDP . Nigeria is the third fastest growing large economy in the world after china and india.(iam not talking about minor economies like angola or guinea where gdp growth is more due to small base)

Since oil accounts for only 17 %of gdp in nigeria. The non oil gdp (like manufacturing, agriculture, services) account for 83% of economy.

This is plain silly how can a country which generate 4000MW claim to be the 3 rd fastest growing economy.

For comparision sake
China builds a coal power power plant EVERY WEEK worth 500mw
India builds a power plant in 3 weeks worth 500mw
NIGERIA builds a power plant coal or gas based once in 3 years worth 180 mw
Yes, Nigeria is the 3rd fastest growing economy in the World; but 3rd fastest growing does not mean 3rd biggest.
China can build new power plants every week, because they are the second biggest (and most liquid) economy. Nigeria's economy is much smaller.

and the President has the right to go around talking like a "rascal"? Fashola is spot on. Deep down , most top administrators (Amaechi, Fashola, Chime et al) don't respect GEJ as a leader. They dont see someone sagacious and deserving of his office when they look at GEJ. They know he is mediocre and has luck to thank for where he finds himself. This is why Fashola's uses the word "luck" several times. The point is that the likes of Fashola want to respect Jonathan's office but the mediocre man in that office should then not start talking down those doing their jobs properly while all he does is spend profligately without doing anything of note to move Nigeria forward.

Look at Ribadu talking about the FOI bill and its importance to good governance while GEJ is all over the place talking like an 'agbero'. Will he ever be found talking comprehensively about issues important to the progress of Nigeria? Abeg stop this nonsense of never seeing anything wrong with GEJ's actions. We are in a democracy. He should respect others (especially proven performers) and they may just respect his office publicly.
The chief rascal is a drug baron grin grin:

Why is his state (Bayelsa) an absolute backwater, while Rivers and Delta are flourishing?

In whose pocket did Bayelsa's money disappear? Alams alone? Or was Alams the only one prosecuted?

In any case, GEJ (and Beaf, his sycophant) need to heed the words of Fashola.
How about that Bayelsa is new? Fool?
More intelligent people are concerned about the ra'pe of that territory to fuel the rest of the country. Nigeria's first oil well was in what is now know as Bayelsa, but they were not connected to the national grid until 2006.

The constitution has explicitly made it clear that the States and Local Government are responsible for primary education and secondary education. It is also mandatory upto certain age (im not sure of the age barrier). The Sharia legal system also supports mandatory child maintenance and education by the parents. So this is not the case of lack of laws, this is the case of lack of implementing laws.
I disagree. What we have is a crisis of gargantuan proportions just waiting to blow up in our faces, in my opinion, a state of emergency would have needed to be declared, but I guess because of societal and cultural issues (some of which you mentioned in your earlier post), the issue is also an immensely delicate one.

At 10 million, the population of almajiri's is greater than that of 139 countries, it is a true monster of a problem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population
That number of kids cannot be left to fester outside of any formal upbringing or education, therefore it is right that the FG has taken responsibility, rather than look to state govts that have been powerless while the demographics exploded to to extraordinary figures.

Anti-Jonathan Protests in Lafia - Police Arrest CPC's Al-Makura
Hir Joseph and Misbahu Bashir
9 February 2011

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nasarawa State CPC governorship candidate, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, was detained at the police CID office in Abuja yesterday over alleged involvement in the heckling of President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday in Lafia.

Al-Makura was earlier "invited" by the Nasarawa State police commissioner Wilfred Obute in Lafia, from where he was moved to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, over accusations that he was behind the jeers and pelting that marred the flag off of the PDP presidential election campaign.

On Monday, Jonathan's cavalcade was greeted with chants of 'Nigeria sai Buhari, Nasarawa sai Al-Makura' as they moved along the streets of Lafia towards the palace of Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai. Crowds barricaded the major roads leading to the palace and pelted some vehicles in the president's convoy, chanting anti-Jonathan and anti-Doma slogans while praising CPC presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari and Al-Makura.

Al-Makura is the major challenger to PDP's Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma in the April governorship election.

The police in Abuja yesterday confirmed the arrest of Al-Makura and some of his supporters for allegedly orchestrating the stoning of the president's entourage. Force Public Relations DCP Olusola Amore said, "He was arrested for allegedly organising the stoning of the entourage of the president, He is being questioned to determine his involvement in the case."

The Police did not say if they would charge the suspects to court.

Earlier yesterday, Al-Makura's campaign organization, Ta'al 2011, told newsmen in Lafia that the police commissioner invited the CPC governorship candidate in the morning for a meeting, after which the commissioner took him to the Inspector General of Police Hafiz Ringim in Abuja.

Director General of Ta'al 2011, Musa Illu Mohammed, told Daily Trust that upon learning of the planned visit to the Force Headquarters, "Al-Makura returned to his residence and picked his luggage to return to the police headquarters. He called me to inform me of the development that he was to be led to the IG; I don't know, but obviously it is for questioning because the commissioner told him that the invitation is because of the protest over the visit of the president to Lafia on Monday."

Illu denied the involvement of the campaign organization or its supporters in the anti-Jonathan protests.

He said, "As far as I know, nobody in CPC has anything to do with what happened in Lafia on Monday. Yes, some youths were raising posters of our candidate, according to newspaper reports, to show their support. As far as we are concerned, those were actions anyone can do; it must not be by somebody from CPC.

"We have never gone out to abuse anybody. We have been abused and attacked. But it will not be for too long before we too can begin to take necessary steps to address these issues." He vowed to seek redress in the court to fight what he called "continued persecution."

Reacting to the arrests, CPC national secretary Buba Galadima accused the police of targeting the opposition for no justifiable reason. Speaking on the BBC Hausa monitored last night, Galadima alleged that the police was also plotting to arrest former labour minister Hassan Lawal, who is now a CPC member over trumped up accusations. There was no immediate reaction from the police over Galadima's allegations.

Meanwhile, protests continued in Lafia yesterday as youths went round the town and defaced billboards of Jonathan and Doma. More than 20 such billboards were destroyed along Makurdi Road and Jos Road. Al-Makura's billboard was also destroyed.

GEJ has already met with the overall leader of almajiri' "education" in Nigeria. The man (speaking in Hausa) was overjoyed at govts assistance. Their relocation to classrooms and a curriculum that is based on basic Western education is a given. GEJ's foresight will make them better fit into society as employable citizens.

This thing has been going on for close to a month now and thank God for the move, cos almajiri's are one of Nigeria's biggest security and negative cultural issues.

With threads like this, it is easy to conclude that some Nigerians just love sounding daft and are proud to display it by celebrating every little setback the country suffers.
They celebrate thinking they are hurting their "enemies," but keen observers notice that they really only have ill will toward the country and are upset that GEJ has made things better.

and when the credible, amiable pastor said: We talk about ideology, as if we are still polarising the world. I am talking about eastern world and western world, as if we are talking about capitalism and communism. Time has moved beyond that. The purpose of government is the welfare of the people of the country. That is the priority of government. That people’s needs are met; that we ensure there is security. That is the ideology of the hour. With all the billions voted for security, we see the insecurity in our land

I am sure that did not tell you that governments of today adopts a mix of both (left & right = center). Your brains are weak!
You simply do not know what an ideology is. What you describe is called, anywhere bele face politics. If you do not have an ideology, you do not have a plan; its as simple as that.
Nigerians are tired of guesswork, cluelessness and abracadabra. Ideology is a roadmap every politician must carry as a sword, it isn't some nebulous concept of "left and right."
In fact, a person without an ideology as guide is 100% clueless about the meanings of left and right. Buhari and Bakare are politicians without an ideology that have no roots and are blowing in the wind; Nigeria has no use for such at this epochal juncture in our history. Thank goodness for GEJ.
