abeg - take am easy. We cant all sleep and face the same direction. The beauty of democracy and freedom of speech and association is that you have the right to associate and speak in support of anyone. You dont have to agree with the multitude.

If you look at the majority on NairaLand, they are anti GEJ, and if you are pro GEJ, they tell you its because you get contracts from government (just as you yourself had said about my person). Come on, how do brains like that work?

Pro GEJ supporters are free to support and work for GEJ's success, just as you are free, without being called names and being seen as government apologists.
Such people are just id!ots who can't hold their own in an argument, thats all.

The man is an id!ot who is only looking to distract attention from his failing govt by pointing at Muslims. In time, he will be turning on foreigners too.
He is a miserable failure, what have Muslims done to attract the negative attentions of a PM whose country's economy is shrinking?
Frosbel, you guys best vote in labour next time, cos tories are only out to sell everything to themselves (including manhole covers).

You be correct mumu, beaf

Where in the world is ideology practised again? even the Labour party (under Tony Blair) and Democrats (under Clinton and now Obama) have moved from extreme left to the centre, the David Camerons of this world also know extreme conservatism do not work again. China, being the biggest Communist country has released its economy to capitalism while the government till remains a communist!

You don't seem to get it. and I wonder if Jonathan with his PHD can even say half of what you are challenging.
What do the terms left, right and center mean in politics; are they not ideological positions? I really wonder at some people on NL! If you don't know the fundamentals of politics, why are you here in the politics section? Whay not stick to areas that require zero brain power like romance and sexuality?
When you have educated yourself, return and we'll have the debate; right now, you are totally confused and absolutely lost.

How will you put food on the table of the needy- no idea.
Exactly! It was a rambling display of political entropy. This was how he began answering a question on what CPC's ideology is:

What is the ideology of CPC? How do you integrate yourself into the system?
We talk about ideology, as if we are still polarising the world. I am talking about eastern world and western world, as if we are talking about capitalism and communism. Time has moved beyond that. . .
Hellooooo? shocked

Whoever heard of a political party or movement without an ideology? We have played the "try your luck" game in Nigeria with various clueless leaders in the past and ended up on a journey to nowhere. Thank goodness for GEJ.

For Bakare's info, politics without ideology is like reading the map for the fastest route to chaos, despondency, poverty, developmental inertia and societal anaemia.
Out of ideology springs focus, direction and effective strategy.

Bakare might be a good social critic, but in the political field, he is already displaying an alarming emptiness.

Nigerians here in Nigeria are mostly confused, most of them don't know what they want, hence they can't really pin-point and scrutinize their leaders.

If you ask many Nigerians why they want GEJ, none would be able to tell you 3 GOOD reasons without sentiments clouding their statements.
Condemning the long suffering average Nigerian as clueless, just because they overwhelmingly support GEJ is sour grapes, very poor sportsmanship and in very poor taste.

GEJ is immensely popular among Nigerians, because he has touched lives in fundamental ways. People like yourself will continue asking for 3 good reasons while the people are FEELING and EXPERIENCING miriad good reasons. On these very NL pages, your likes continue to scorn the end of fuel scarcity and the easily measurable steps forward in power generation; scoff all you like, but iya Sikira, Binta and mallam Shehu see these things as a godsend after so many decades of travelling backwards.

Nigerians will continue to support what is good for them, and not what some random fellow wishes to foist on them.

As they say, "two rams cannot drink from the same bucket, they shall lock horns." Bakare has fired the first salvo in the beginnings of an ego war between himself and Buhari; it is well known that the ex-General does not brook dissent (no matter how positive). Bakare's challenge is even stranger when it is considered that he will have zero part to play in a presidential debate, but maybe his desperation has blinded his eyes to how the game works. Interesting!

I give that ticket three or four weeks at the most before the wheels start coming off the bus. Can anybody imagine Sambo throwing Buhari a challenge? It won't be happening, because GEJ's team is focussed, organised, selfless and bloody intelligent.
Politics › Re: Bakare Challenges Pdp For A Live Debate by Beaf: 1:47am On Feb 05, 2011
I wonder if he asked Buhari before jumping the gun; as running mate, he is not the person to lay challenges. This is the first sign of that team imploding in an almighty heap before April.

@ OP,

GEJ has been given a chance as President for the last year, and what we see is even worse than before. GEJ makes OBJ and IBB seem like child's play.

He's been given a chance in Bayelsa. Go and ask them to name one successful project, despite leaving the state in an estimated N18 bln to N58 bln debt.
Daft.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Sun, Sylva said there is no iota of truth in the reports making rounds that the state is heavily indebted.

His words "I keep saying this and I try to correct it everywhere. What I have said is that government operates on a leverage system. No government has done projects with only cash at hand. You have to always give contracts and pay as the milestones are delivered.

So, whenever a government goes out there would definitely be some jobs not fully paid for. It is normal and I would definitely leave such jobs behind as well. Every good government would leave behind projects except such government was not working"

Sylva explained that since he assumed office, there is no discrepancy in projects being executed and how much being owned contractors.

"If I come on board and see that there is convergence between what I see on ground and what is being owned contractors, then I have no problem. Government is a continuum that therefore does not mean we have a debt burden. The problem is that there are contracts which have not been completed, government is carrying on with them and we would pay the contractors. And by the time we have finish paying those contractors, we would have also given more contracts and we would always owe at some point. That is the nature of government. But people now go about to say there is a debt burden" he added
-Gov Sylva (Jonathans successor and political enemy) giving GEJ a clean bill of health.

As for the fuel issue, yes there hasn't been any fuel scarcity since he took over (started when Yaradua was there though), so i'm still going to be watching and yes it's looking good in that aspect.
. . .
Why you think you can convince anyone by telling bare faced lies is beyond me. Its not like we suddenly moved into Nigeria after Yar Adua died, people actually experienced the horrible episodes of fuel scarcity right up till Yar Adua died. So who are you trying to fool if not yourself only? Guy, such behaviour is extremely irritating, because people know what they experienced and when,

GEJ came into power 9 months ago on 6 May 2010, check the date of the news story below (just in case you haven't been to Naija in the past many years).
Telling lies doesn't get you anywhere.

Fuel Scarcity May Bite Harder as NNPC Rations Supply
Ejiofor Alike
2 February 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lagos — The two months' old fuel scarcity in the country will bite harder in the next couple of weeks as the Pipeline Products and Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is now rationing supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise called petrol, to only marketers with its tickets.
http://allafrica.com/stories/201002020773.html

Why complain? Are you the only one here? I really didn't want to begin to answer myself, later I began to wonder what was really responsible for this avoidable WICKEDNESS, first it was the tanker drivers strike in Lagos, I remember that at my church we had to buy ten litres of fuel then which was about 650naira for 3,000naira (over 400% inflation), I wondered why we had to be subjected to such in this recession, Very hard times indeed, Not as if it is acceptable in the most bountiful seasons.

Again I came back to reality, reality was I didn't want to sleep in darkness, I hated the heat (particularly for those of you that have been in Lagos lately the heat you can understand). Has global warming totally destroyed the layer protecting Lagos from the ferocious rays of the sun? Was this the effect of the excessive pollution from both industrial and domestic generators? Really that was not what bothered me at the moment (maybe we shall discuss that some other time) I just did not want to spend another night of heat and discomfort, I have an office to resume to at morning, the least gift I could give myself was a comfortable night rest,

The fuel scarcity in Nigeria is unexplainable, I just couldn't and still can't get it,

Now I want to ask you a question, Why do you support GEJ? Is the support based on regional or ethnic reasons, or he has done something tangible in this country? What Nlanders want is just a reason to support him. Please, I would be waiting for your answer.
I support him, cos you are a dunce.

One day Nigerians will make God resign o! Imagine someone going into politics in a secular state and announcing that God told him to do so. The man cannot even put a couple of words to explain why he is running, instead he panders to people religious fears.
There is just so much mediocrity from opposition parties that they might as well give up contesting the elections. Its just ridiculous.

This is a very responsible thread, especially when you consider that Jonathans opponents keep shooting themselves in the foot. ACN and CPC are engaged in open warfare, despite being in merger talks just last week, so whats the practical alternative? Lets support GEJ and only crucify him if he fails us, right now he is performing creditably.

You believe that. Anyway I don't even know what your point is. You need to be more constructive.
In the issues you mentioned - security job prospects, education and power supply - can you tell us what you would have recommended to tackle these issues.
In other words I want to hear about your well thought out solutions rather than just reading about a list of problems
This seems to be a major problem with a lot of people. They just keep screaming hysterically without even getting an intelligent argument together, I can't understand why they can't see that it doesn't make them seem in the list bit smart.

Please people, attempt to make arguments that are cogent and intelligent; when you scream it makes you seem like a whiner who might neither be that honest or intelligent. Muza, honeric01, blacksta, monkeyleg, genbuhari gbawe, and that dude that keeps getting banned grin, etc, please take note; try to say things that make sense and learn to engage in civil argument; strive to aqcuire the art of Critical Thinking,

If you don't like GEJ, give sensible and responsible reasons. Lets not behave like agbero's. Thank you.

Business › Up From 3,800mw Last Week, Power Generation Hits 4,000mw by Beaf(op): 4:51pm On Feb 04, 2011
Lagos (WorldStage Newsonline)-- Power generation may have improved to 4,000 mega watt in Nigeria going by the latest posting in the facebook page of President Goodluck Jonathan.
President Jonathan who traveled from Ethiopia after the African Union meeting, to Turkey during the week wrote on his page that power generation had hit the new level on Tuesday. This was contrary to the earlier remark by officials which gave indication that power generation had improved to 3,800MW.

“We are making progress in the power sector and last Tuesday we hit 4,000MW, the first time in 10 years we've reached that level. But it's still not sufficient,” he wrote.

“While I don't want to set a benchmark, what I can say is that we'll insist on progress monthly. We are not where we need to be, but with the current investment in building the new Super Grid and new power stations we are definitely on the way there.”

Nigeria has been facing acute power shortage for many years, a development that made many industries to close shop.

It is a thouroughly daft question. Buhari stole $2.8billion from NNPC and is easily one of Nigeria's richest men. Buhari's cousin also committed suicide after the corruption he and Buhari perpetrated at PTF was discovered.

Buhari spent his army life in one political position after the other (most in the oil sector). The man is a willy thief.
