How is blindly accepting some fairly tale that some workers chant sounds like "apes obey" evidence of your critical thinking? Please don't even insinuate that you have some sort of greater inclination to critical thinking over me or that you and the rest of the sheep that just accept anything they hear that fits in with their prejudices and assumptions have somehow employed some sort of deep analysis that is somehow beyond my grasp. As I said before, when and where and in how many areas in Nigeria and in all of black Africa were white colonial masters acting like overseers and working us as though it were the Belgian Congo? Or does your supposed critical thinking and wisdom suddenly end when asked to actually think?

Seriously dude, the chances are 99.99% that I do.

The rest of your post is simply a long winded way of throwing in the towel, so it isn't worth a pinch of salt. But why start a rude argument only to throw in the towel?

Nigerian military rescues 19 oil delta hostages

https://media.thestar.topscms.com/images/2e/c5/e3240bb24695b95b75bf9d3c34db.jpeg

Robert Croke, the Newfoundland man who was kidnapped by Nigerian militants off an oil rig 10 days ago, was freed Wednesday along with 18 other hostages in a military assault.

Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon confirmed that Croke was freed, saying: “I am greatly relieved to confirm that Mr. Croke has been released and is now safe. I have ensured through our officials he receives consular assistance and is able to be reunited with his family as soon as possible.”

Croke and six co-workers from the United States, France and Indonesia were kidnapped in a high-speed boat attack on Nov. 7 by the Nigerian militant group MEND. On Wednesday, Reuters news agency reported from Lagos that all seven of the men and 12 others from separate militant kidnappings had been freed after “a land, air and marine assault” by the Nigerian military.

The freed hostages also included eight Nigerian staff abducted from an Exxon Mobil platform on Sunday and four others, said two security sources involved in the operation.
“It was a land, air and marine assault. They have all been freed, all 19 of them,” a source told Reuters, asking not to be named due to the sensitive nature of the operation.

A second security source involved in planning the operation said former militant leaders who accepted an amnesty brokered last year by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan had been instrumental in securing the safe release of the kidnapped oil workers.

“There was a strong element of cooperation between the former militant leadership and the security forces in the release of the 19 hostages,” the security source said.

“What happened today in Nigeria has never happened before. It shows the strength not only of the security forces but of the former militant leadership and the amnesty program,” the source said, also asking not to be named.

Fire outbreak at Atiku’s campaign headquarters .
Thursday, 18 November 2010 00:00 Nigerian Compass .
A fire incident was yesterday reported at the headquarters of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation in Abuja.

A statement by the organisation said the cause of the fire, which was noticed in the early hours of the day, could not be established, as the Fire Service was yet to turn in a report on the incident.

No life was lost and no injury was recorded in the incident, but computers, furniture and accessories were reportedly damaged in the fire, which was confined to the first floor of the campaign headquarters at 1, Luanda Street, Wuse 11, Abuja.

The affected floor houses the Directorates of Media and Publicity, Research and Planning and Special Duties.

Former Vice President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, was said to have visited the office to assess the damage.

He thanked God for His mercy and men of the Fire Service, the Nigeria Police Force and staff members of the campaign organisation for their prompt response.

Please don't start that thing here, it's uncalled for.

Well i have to say that the Saraki family are a typical example of democracy gone wrong. In states where domination is occuring, it's usually groups or tribes which do the domination. But in Kwara it's one family, one freaking family .
Couldn't be said better. Its bloody shocking that in modern Nigeria, Kwara's feudal lords, the Saraki's can run a walking and kicking fiefdom.

I agree the word "Tribe" should be banned. Some of us have even discussed the usuage of that word on various thread. It is a word used by Europeans to describe people who think they are subordinates. For instance, African "tribes", Native-American(Indian) "tribes", Arab "tribes". Why is the English, Spaniards, Italians, Portuguese, Irish not considered or called tribes since by all actuality they should be according to the definition given by Europeans?
Precisely! Even East European shitholes like Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Moldova etc are not described as having tribes, cos there can't be tribes among caucasians. No, tribal lands start in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan etc where the people aren't caucasian. Lets note that the examples, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are at about the same developmental level as their caucasian neighbours.

Your reason is "it sounded like bullshit?" Incredible. Critical thinking is an art you desperately need to learn. Your googling never told you the word applies to monkeys? Unbelievable!
Your googling couldn't provide an explanation for the phrase, "Apes obey!" and its echo, "Aye!" Shocking!

You simply cannot walk up to any European today and identify him as belonging a tribe, whether gaulish, celtic or other crap. Have you identified any French man that claims he is a Gaulish tribesman? Have you ever met a Briton that identified themselves to you as Celtic tribes people?
Dude, stop providing braindead examples, it makes you come across as a dim bulb.
I find your input to be rather closed minded for the simple facts above. Have you ever spoken with a European? How can you be so ignorant? Dude its crass.

There are a group of Nigerians who imagine that they can make declarations of wisdom without proof. They all end up looking foolish, because their declarations turn out empty and no more than holding positions based on animal instinct and testosteronal ego's.

If you claim to belong to a tribe, its really your choice. To me a tribe and other thinking people, tribe is defined as a troop of monkeys.

But your ancestors probably had tribal marks. Or are these now to be euphemized as "ethnic marks" when they didn't serve the purpose of distinguishing between different ethnicities but of distinguishing between different subgroups of ethnicities.

There are sub-groups within ethnicities that were called tribes such as Celtic tribes, Gaulish tribes, etc, it has nothing to do with ethnicity or race, it's about the level of development of a group. And that story from Beaf sounds like bullshit, If you're going to tell tall tales at least make them believable,
Dude, if you have a better interpretation to "Apes obey! Aye!" then I'm willing to hear it, otherwise please be quiet. The very least you could have done was employ google and come out more informed.

If you wish to belong to a tribe, its fine by me, but I surely do not belong to a tribe. Thats for monkeys.

Buhari did not pass a law that made reporting the truth illegal, please stop embarassing yourself. You could say that reporters reporting certain types of stories were jailed (as was common in military regimes), different from saying reporting the truth was banned. Please stop. So if a road was built or there was fuel scarcity and it was reported, you are trying to tell me that the journalist reporting such stories were jailed?

Ribadu is a saner prospect in your estimation. I am willing to consider Ribadu but I don't even know how serious the man is taking it anymore, I am yet to see a serious campaign strategy from his camp.
How does tyranny operate? Oh yes! A journalist could have been jailed for reporting that there was fuel scarcity so long as Buhari felt embarrassed.

. . .
Justice Mamman Kolo, of Federal High Court also ordered the immediate
reopening of The Guardian. All these court orders were disdainfully
flouted by Federal Government.

Decrees are the major legislative tools of military government and in
Nigeria, they are chummed out with such rapidity that makes many
discerning person marvel. Decrees are enacted to circumscribe the practice
of journalism.

Some of these Decrees had never gone without the necessary challenge by
the press. In 1984, when the Buhari government jailed two  The Guardian
reporters, Nduka Irabor and Tunde Thompson one year each under Decree 4,
The Guardian Management went to court for a proper interpretation of
Decree 4, particularly as regards whether if a story that embarrassed the
government and was true could be an offence under the Decree.

The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Late Justice Adetunji Adefarasin in his
ruling on July 26, 1984 held that by virtue of the provisions of Decree 4
of 1984, it was "unlawful for the plaintiffs to publish any report or
statement which is true and which brings or is calculated to bring the
Federal Military Government or state government or a public officer to
ridicule or disrepute
".

Similarly, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) went to court asking for
the interpretation of the provisions of the Decree.

In his ruling on June 8, 1993 Justice Yaya Jinadu held that he had
jurisdiction to entertain the suit but that the NUJ lacked the locus
standi to institute the action.

Perhaps even more alarming is the rate at which you copy and paste search engine articles to act as 'end alls' in your supposed arguments. Why don't we put things in context first of all. Buhari was a leader in a military dictatorship. Buhari did not put the 'official/public secret act' (pretty much an antithesis to the FOI bill people have been shouting for) in the Nigerian constitution, a clause that has been bastardised by various regimes for their own use in trampling press freedom. What is even more embarassing is how you boldly highlight the "making the report of truth a very serious offence in the country" section of the copy and paste article. Buhari passed a law/decree that made reporting the truth illegal? Are you actually reading what you are typing?

I don't mind you not liking Buhari as a presidential prospect (I am not even a big Buhari fan), I would just appreciate some sincerity and openess in your discourse rather than all the blind propaganda. Now why don't we go back to the statement I made and see if we can focus on the essence of my postings.
I can only advice you to seek out an original transcript of Decree 4. The description in the bolded is 100% correct. Press men were jailed for reporting the truth, simply because it embarrassed Buhari's tyranical govt. That is the only reason, there isn't a lot of bad news about his 1 year tyranny, its called brutal management of press freedom. Buhari is a wooden man with a wooden worldview, a very dangerous man indeed.

I would advice Buhari's supporters to swing behind Ribadu instead, he is a 100% saner prospect with similar (but a million times more refined) character attributes.
