Nigeria and FIFA will come to an agreement long before Monday, because FIFA has seen that 9ja eyes are red and there is no backing; threat ko threat ni!
If an agreement is reached, it will be a good decision; otherwise, it would go down as Jonathans first gaffe. Methinks though, that Nigeria has put herself in a very good negotiating position.

Terry G Caught Smoking Marijuana
Author: Date: Jul 2nd, 2010.

The Ginger Your Swagga crooner, Gabriel Oche-Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has once again proved that he is arguably Nigeria’s most controversial after a camera lens caught him smoking marijuana in his watering hole.

Since Terry G hit the limelight of the Nigerian music industry few years back, he has not hesitated to tell his listeners that he is a staunch smoker of marijuana, a substance he always promotes in his songs.

Crazy Terry G! “I’m a singer, bring me the ganja”, popular rapper Terry G demonstrates with a wrap of marijiana as he sang in his music.
In  his song, Pass Me Your Love, [which he produced and was also featured by AY.Com], Terry G in one of his lines said “…because I dey smoke too much Igbo, e no mean e…”

Also in his smash hit song titled Free Madness, he actually said “…I’m a singer, bring me the ganja…”

P.M NEWS gathered that the Benue State-born singer has also established himself as a controversial artiste, following his face-off with show promoters and colleagues.

Some months back, he was detained at the Lagos State Police Command after collecting N600, 000 from UNIBEN students for a show and he failed to perform at the event.

He later apologised to the students and made a police statement that he will refund the expenses incurred by the show organisers.

Shortly after that, he was accused of stabbing a disc jockey called DJ Vein with a broken bottle at Fagba, Iju-Ajuwon area of Lagos.

Witnesses said the problem started between Terry G and Vein after the latter played Mallam Spicey’s song titled Free Cure at a hang-out where Terry G and his friends were relaxing.

In the controversial song, Mallam Spicey had abused Terry G, after the latter had also thrown jibes at him in Free Madness.

Terry G, born of a Deacon and Deaconess parents, was a church boy, and actually started his music career as a gospel artiste, though he could not release his gospel album due to lack of funds then.

The US Supreme Court has given Nigerian families the green light to sue the drug company Pfizer over the use of a new antibiotic on their children.

It rejected the firm's appeal against a ruling allowing lawsuits to proceed.

The families say Pfizer did not get their proper consent to test the antibiotic Trovan on 200 sick children during a meningitis outbreak in 1996.

Eleven children died and others were blinded, paralysed or brain-damaged. Pfizer denies all allegations.

The company says the children who took the oral drug had a better survival rate than those who did not.

The meningitis epidemic killed 12,000 children in Nigeria over six months.

At the Supreme Court on Tuesday the justices dismissed, without comment, Pfizer's claim that the Nigerians could not sue under the Alien Tort Statute, which allows foreigners to seek compensation in US courts over violations of international law.

Anger at deadly Nigerian drug trials

Q&A: Nigeria sues Pfizer
A federal judge initially said the cases should be heard in Nigeria, not the US, but this was overruled by the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in New York.

The US government had urged the Supreme Court to reject Pfizer's appeal, saying the questions presented did not warrant review.

Pfizer said it was disappointed with the decision, but noted that it might win dismissal of the lawsuits on other grounds, including that Nigeria would be the appropriate place for the cases to be heard.

"The company looks forward to presenting its defences in court and remains confident it will ultimately prevail in these cases," it said.

Pfizer has separately paid $75m (£50m) to the Nigerian authorities to settle claims related to the incident, which occurred a year before Trovan was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In 1998, the FDA approved Trovan for use by adults only. After the agency received reports of liver failure, its use was restricted to adult emergency care. The European Union banned its use in 1999.

You mentioned Youtube, do you realize that is how many of the new politicians in America reached their voters? Seriously, even if we can get the word out on those on Youtube, we could be doing them a great service and the country more good. When I say get the word out, I do not mean BLIND support for them. Just letting people know there are other choices out there and where to go for additional info will help shift the balance.
It would be really interesting if you could name just a single credible person you have identified. Just one.

@redsun
I guess what nobody pointed out is that your statement below about the state of the "African Brain" is just as patently wrong as your "theory" to explain it. Nothing is basically wrong with the African Brain, but if a "brain" doesn't eat right, doesn't have good health, transportation or education it would behave as if something is wrong with it. However, this does not translate into any irreversible solar-induced, biological shortcoming with the brain - provide good food, health, transportation, education, etc to the brain and watch it excel!
The key thing is that Critical Thinking is missing from our curriculum. If it was present, we would be able to overcome all the items listed above and redsun would have known instinctively that his insulting analysis should not even see the light of day.

From kindergaten to university, Nigerian education is based on rote and unquestioning obedience; you do not challenge the teacher, religion or the elders (in other words, we are trained to be mentally static). We are yet to totally overhaul the curriculum introduced by the colonial master, who was "educating" us to suit their own exploitative targets; whereas, in other countries, critical thinking is very much part of early education. For example, in several countries, chess is taught from a very young age to train youngsters in Higher Order Thinking skills; in others like China and Japan, mind disciplining aspects of their culture are brought to the fore and made the fulcrum of their societies.

African leaders on the other hand (out of ignorance or for reasons that suit their own "cancerous " purposes), are either suffering an identity crisis or not recognising the serious levels of damage a collective identity crisis can wreak on society. Therefore, nothing is being done and we continue to have adults running around without the tiniest analyctic skills and bringing up their kids to exist and stagger through life in the same way.

Jonathan Free To Contest 2011 Poll If , —Nwodo
Written by By Bola Badmus
Saturday, 03 July 2010

National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2011 presidential poll if he meets the party and 1999 Constitutional requirements, even as he disclosed that the PDP would revisit the zoning arrangement within the party.

The PDP boss said this during an interview with a London-based television station, Ben Tv.

Nwodo is in London to attend a two-day conference on 50 years of Nigeria and also meet with the leadership of the party in the United Kingdom. The PDP national chairman made the declaration while speaking on the rumoured ambition of President Jonathan, just as he said he would not want to be dragged into what was still in the realm of rumour.

However, Nwodo maintained that under his leadership, any member of the party aspiring to run for any election would enjoy a level-playing ground.

“What I am assuring every member of the party is that internal democracy will take place under my watch,” he assured.

The PDP national chairman declared that the era of people sitting down somewhere in the name of godfathers and godmothers to determine who flies the flag of the party was gone for good.

He also said that the party would ensure that anybody who was to be the standard-bearer of the PDP would not only have gone through the test of the people, but such person must scale through the integrity test of the party.

“Without internal democracy in the parties, our democracy cannot grow and that is exactly what I intend to pursue to a logical conclusion,” he stated.

Speaking on zoning, the PDP chairman said the party intended to revisit it with a view to carrying everybody along since it had been operated in breach in the past, noting that the position would be made known before the PDP picked his presidential candidate for 2011 pool.

Politics › Northern Nigerian Governors Split On Support For President Jonathan by Beaf(op): 12:59am On Jul 03, 2010
Northern Nigerian Governors Split on Support for President Jonathan
Joe DeCapua 02 July 2010

In Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan could face less opposition than first thought if he decides to seek election next year. Powerful northern governors in the ruling PDP have failed so far to put up a united front against his candidacy.

Mr. Jonathan is finishing out the term of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua. But President Jonathan is from the south, while Mr. Yar’Adua was from the north. Many northern politicians have said one of their own should run next year. It’s part of what’s known as the zoning agreement – an informal pact that has likely presidential winners alternate between the north and the south.

Difference of opinion

VOA reporter Chinedu Offor, who’s on assignment in Nigeria, says, “This is pretty significant in the sense that if the north were to produce the next president of Nigeria, that candidate would have to come from the governors of the north. And to the extent that they have failed to agree on a common front is a boost for the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan if he decides to run.”

Northern governors held a long meeting Thursday in Kaduna and were split on whether they should support Jonathan or choose one of their own as the ruling party candidate next year.

“Some of the governors wanted to oppose him, but others said, no, he’s doing a good job. He should be allowed to run if he wants to. So that puts a huge stumbling block on the path of the north to choose the next president.” says Offor.

Despite the political party process, it is the governors who choose the candidates.

“If you recall, even the current president was a governor and the current vice-president was a governor of Kaduna State. So, it is believed that if the north were to produce the next candidate based on the zoning formula of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, one of those governors, who are now meeting, will emerge as the president and candidate of the ruling party,” he says.

The disagreement has caused the governors to expand their meeting to include other powerful northerners, including former military heads of state, traditional rulers and leaders of grassroots groups. They’ll meet next week to make a final decision on whether to choose a candidate or support Jonathan.

“If the governors are unable to agree, then chances are that the enlarged form of that governors’ forum…may also not likely agree. Because to oppose Goodluck Jonathan might take some doing because he has all the powers of the presidency at the moment,” he says.

Gentleman’s agreement at stake

The unwritten agreement between the north and south may now be in jeopardy.

“Even among the northern powerbrokers and northern governors there’s also disagreement on whether an agreement actually exists. While some of the governors say it’s a gentleman’s agreement that was just a handshake, others say it was included in the ruling party’s constitution. But not by the relevant authorities that have the powers to do so,” he says.

Some northern governors say Nigeria doesn’t need such an agreement. They say candidacy should be based on competence, not geography.

“They are saying it is not the fault of Jonathan that a northern candidate and late president Umaru Yar’Adua could not complete his term…that to the extent that Jonathan is now the current president, it will also be unfair to deny him a second chance,” says Offor.

Good grades so far

President Jonathan’s been getting good marks since taking office. For example, Offor says the daily power supply has increased from one to two hours to around six hours daily. The lack of reliable electricity supply has been a major problem for many years.

The president has also promised to spur long-promised development in the oil-rich and violence-plagued Niger Delta. This includes planned railroads and highways. Also, Delta governors, who are very influential and wealthy in their own right, are giving him their support.

Offor says Mr. Jonathan has also given more support to agencies battling corruption in Nigeria, a problem of concern to the international community as well

•Say IBB, Atiku Are Pursuing Personal Agenda
Written by Taiwo Adisa, Abuja
Saturday, 03 July 2010

Further cracks have emerged in the North as regards the suspected presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan as younger elements in the zone are said to be kicking against attempts by the older politicians to ensure that zoning only fits their purpose.

Investigations among some northern states revealed that younger elements in the North are really angry with politicians, including former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, over their insistence on zoning, which is believed to be an agenda to further their personal political ambitions.

Said a leading young northern politician: “When you are talking of zoning, for who and for what purpose?” The politician said that the North could not go to war blindly in the 2011 election, adding that the idea of monolithic North which could be remote-controlled from some ends had vanished.

The source said that younger elements in the North believed that leaders like IBB and Atiku were hammering on the zoning arrangement to favour themselves.

“We are of the view that every issue of zoning must address the fundamental issues of development in the North. All the leaders who have been championing the issue of zoning have shown their capabilities long before now. They are not doing it on behalf of the North because when they had their chances to lead, they did not solve the socio-economic problems of the North,” the source said.

Sources said that as a counterforce to the persistent calls for zoning among the older northern politicians, the younger elements put resources together to organise the pro-Jonathan rally held in Bauchi last Saturday.

The argument among the younger elements is that the zone, according to sources, is that North should not just agitate for zoning for the sake of it and that if Jonathan has shown capability and intention to tackle the socio-economic issues in the zone, he should be supported to continue in office.

“What was seen in Bauchi last Saturday was a message in clear terms to the political elite in the North that things are changing and that we have prioritise our development issues. We are more concerned about development and if Jonathan can guarantee that, we will support him,” another source said.

Politics › Zoning: Political Dynamite For The North? by Beaf(op): 12:49am On Jul 03, 2010
Zoning: Political Dynamite For the North?
Written by Hassan Ibrahim
Saturday, 03 July 2010

Northern Bureau Chief, HASSAN IBRAHIM, writes on the political scheming embarked upon by some prominent elders from the North who converged on Kaduna to convince the Northern state governors on the need to support the zoning arrangement of the Peoples Democratic  Party(PDP) so that power will remain in the region till 2015.

Again, Kaduna on Thursday, appeared to have regained its historical status as the defunct capital of Northern Nigeria. For most part of the day, the situation in Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, the official seat of power in the old Crocodile city, was tense but peaceful as 15 of the 19 governors from the northern states met for over six hours to deliberate on issues about the North and Nigeria in general.

The absentee governors were also represented at the meeting. Topmost on their agenda, as newsmen were told, was the issue of whether or not to support the re-emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 as president in spite of the fact that he hails from the South which, going by the contentious issue of zoning, had its fair share of power for eight years with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a Yoruba from the South-West, as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Although analysts and other concerned members of the public continued to maintain that zoning was strictly an affair of the PDP, pointing out that Nigerians should not be made to be part of that covenant since not everybody is a member of the PDP, it is no longer news that the issue for now appears to be  threatening to tear the party apart as sources in the party said the matter was only discussed by the national caucus of the PDP and was never discussed, agreed and ratified at the national convention of the party. If this assertion is true, then the North and its chieftains in the party must have unknowingly fallen victim of a careful political game-plan executed by an intelligent clique within the party.

It was against this backdrop that shortly after the death of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the northern political class seemed to have woken up from its slumber and oil its machinery to fight for the retention of power. The emergence as president of one-time governor of Katsina State is, up till now, considered by a section of the northern elite as the result of another political calculation allegedly by erstwhile President Obasanjo to pave way for his favourite from the South-South region. In several political discourse in the North, it is not uncommon to hear people heaping blames on former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, who they alleged, led the cabal that brought Obasanjo out from obscurity, empowered him and ensured that he became president.

The aftermath was, however, not conducive for the northern political class which, within the eight years of Obasanjo’s administration, struggled for survival and relevance in the scheme of things. The result was a visibly fragmented northern political class, divided loyalty among the elite and the hijack of political and regional groupings by the northern retired military class and their apologists.

With less than a year to 2011, the North is at a crossroads and no one could exactly tell where the president could come from. President Goodluck Jonathan has, for now, kept his ambition to his chest, but one could easily decode from his utterances that he may eventually opt for the Machiavellian principle. Power, they say, is sweet and only a fool will let it slip off his fingers. This, among other reasons, could be why the likes of General Ibrahim Babangida, General Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and others in the North have, in recent times, heightened their quest for the exalted office and are doing everything possible to make sure that the issue of zoning is respected, so that President Jonathan will embrace the Mandela option and step aside in 2011.

Although, those earlier mentioned were not present during the governors’ meeting, their representatives were there and took time to convince the governors on the need to support the zoning arrangement and by extension, the emergence of a northern president in 2011. They had no choice but to meet the governors and lobby, having realised the enormous powers the governors  wield in the current dispensation as was exemplified when they made sure that one of their own became the vice president.

The governors did not, however, take a stand on the issue, apparently because the northern elders could not form a united front before meeting them. Sadly, to the region, a section among them led by pioneer chairman of PDP, Chief Solomon Lar, was operating on a different wavelength which could be very inimical to northern interest, but might go a long way in enhancing the bond of unity and friendship across the nation.

The North is now divided over zoning. Although newsmen were told that the governors would be coming out with their position on zoning before the end of July, only time shall tell how this matter will make or mar the political ambition of many northern heavyweights, including those currently enjoying leadership positions at the national level.

The 19 governors failed to take a position on the contentious issue at their meeting on Friday at the Government House, Kaduna. A source had said “Two delegations of northern leaders holding conflicting views on the issue  – Northern Elders’ Political Forum led by former Inspector-General of Police, M. D. Yusufu and another group headed by elderstatesman and former national chairman of the party, Chief Lar – presented their positions separately to the governors at the meeting.”

In the end, the governors, in a communiqué, resolved to go back to their states and consult more with stakeholders on zoning. They are to meet again on July 22. Each of the two groups of the northern leaders took turns to discuss zoning with the governors. While the Northern Elders’ Political Forum is canvassing for the retention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zoning formula, which means power should return to the North by 2011, the Lar group said to be pro-President Goodluck Jonathan is saying Jonathan from the South-South geo-political zone can run next year.”

The governors, in a communiqué read by Babangida Aliyu, said: “We looked at one very important issue that has become a national concern and we noted that zoning was conceptualised with the best interest of Nigeria at heart, whereby the candidate for the presidency will move North to South, and we know that it is an excellent way to resolve many problems and ensure the unity and progress of our people.

“We note that this issue has been generating a lot of problems and many people have been discussing it. We encourage this discussion to continue so that an amicable solution can be arrived at. However, beyond zoning, we know the importance of producing competent and performing leadership for the country.”

For now, observers of political happenings in the North said the meeting was a good development because the two opposing camps, in respect to zoning, were identified. Since politics is about interest, lobby and consensus, it is not too late for both camps to go back to the drawing board and apply diplomacy to woo each other in furtherance of their various interest and goals.

We are dead serious. You people want to kill us.

And the problem is getting worse! Maybe just pack to South Africa to immunise ourselves, because babes there simply let out the beautiful pointies in public, if all they want is a little fresh air.

That is why i said it's beyond your comprehension,u can't understand nothing.U probably don't know the history of australia and you probably don't know the history and nature of florida even when u claim to live in america;

This is not about husband hunting, these are fundamental issues that wannabes like u will find very bitter. If u want to understand it,u have to start thinking and i know u are very far away from reasoning
And even if she was husband hunting, would it be for a self confessed monkey like you?
Why is it that people whose brains are irredeemably buried between their arse cheeks think they can muster smartness over normal people?
