“The book is also debunking the illusion that Satan is responsible for man’s undoing, for example, failure in health, business (career), marriage, education, governance, even natural death and calamities, all these are blamed on Satan instead of man himself. The enthronement of the so-called Satan using preachments, prayers, songs, prophecies in religious circles, prayer houses, occult and magic centres in conducting worship of the Lord God is abomination of the highest order, just as disregarding human ability to create negative images, thoughts and forms.”

@Beaf:
Sorry to burst in on the council of professional programmers, but I wanna ask: I have been following this very interesting conversation, and I am wondering about something.

When you guys say .NET, do you mean C#? Or ASP.NET? I'm a novice C# and PHP programmer but I thought C# was mainly used for desktop apps. I knew ASP.NET is web-inclined, but I haven't written a line of ASP before. Can C# be used to develop entirely web-based applications, and how can that work out, i.e. will it translate directly to HTML like I know PHP used to or what?  undecided

I am not challenging anyone, I am only seeking to increase knowledge. Thanks.
Hi mavenbox

I can see that you are more interested in developing for the Web, so ASP.NET is the area you should be looking at.

.Net refers to the whole .NET Framework.
The .NET Framework is a specialised code layer between the operating system and the Developers code.
ASP.NET is the part of the .NET Framework that holds classes that are specific to the web. ASP.NET is one of several components of the .NET Framework, you will begin to come across one or two others as you make progress with ASP.NET.

There used to be another framework simply called ASP (or classic ASP), that is what has been superceded by ASP.NET.

You can write code that targets the .NET Framework in several different languages, the most popular being (by a long short) is C#, followed by VB.NET. C# has the widest acceptance and comes up most often in .NET discussions, which can be a bit confusing for those just starting out. C# is just a language, it really isn't the same as .NET or ASP.NET. There is a very fine overview (not a coding resource) of C# here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_Sharp_(programming_language).

As with PHP, any web page built with ASP.NET must render as HTML, because that is the only display language browsers understand. So yes, C# can be used to build entire web-based applications.

I hope I covered all your question?
Good luck with your journey wink

Fixing Nigeria isn't just about quota systems and trying to balance things out, for example, but for us to understand that there is strength in diversity. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with a northern dominated army, or southern one- however it does have consequences.
There is everything wrong (and dangerous) if the army remains ethnically lopsided.
Everything should be done to avoid lopsidedness in the armed forces, civil service, foreign service and FG finances.

I have always held that the educational deficiency up North should be viewed as a national security problem. If the North is really interested in the union, education must be made a priority (maybe dissenting parents should even be jailed); sharia must also be radically scaled back to cover Muslims and customary cases only. Once these things are done, the North will rapidly catch up with the South and the quota system can be scaled back, so that it does not put some Southern states in reverse gear. Enough has to be done by the Southern states to allay the "miss-placed" Northern paranoia (about their weakness outside the army), due to their educational backwardness (maybe that's another discussion?).

The other bits needing attention are;
SapeleGuy: Along with resource control, constitutional amendment and an ICC case we can begin to take steps to show that we have learned from the mistakes of the past and commit never to repeat them again.

Read the first 5 pages, and then comeback and state your lies again. But how can you, I or any one here debate stuff like this anyways- if we could stoop so low to such tribalistic pettiness (I am aware that i have been a bit childish). You now want to discuss without bias this issue that concerns nigeria, when you have displayed characteristics of tribalism no different than that of becomrich.

. . .

You have lost all claims to objectivity itself, both you, onlytruth, I, Eziachi have displayed what is wrong with nigeria itself- the fact that everyone thinks between ethnic lines. Even from the fact that you avoided the biased posts of other people indicate that you are not interested in considering ideas totally different from yours

What I have been saying for ages huh. After being admonished for your tribalism, you are now speaking the rhetoric of peace. I am happy anyways- we should definitely discuss, how we can live together peacefully; as i said that, we were bound and staying together is more econmically viable for Africa itself.

Now in my own limited opinion (considering the fact I dont want to get insulted), I feel what the igbo people need is a united massive non-violent protest, in which their leaders state what problems they have with other nigeria. If no one wants to listen, they should document their grievances- with propaganda of genocide, and go to several human right organizations, and international organization. making them aware of the plight of igbo people in Nigeria. Agreed sweeping dirt under a carpet cannot help solve a problem, but no-action yields a similar result.
No! You have been advocating massacre and rape.

If you hadn't come in with your deliberate total deafness, you would have heard that message right from the first page. But instead, you introduced mockery and challenges of war to people who are seeking redress; that is why you have rightly been accused of playing games and being in the mould of Goebbels.
Don't blame others for your shortcomings.

@webdezzi

Here's a simple enough practical chore to get you to understand the importance of milliseconds.
Run a video app (entirly with PHP, no C++, C, C#, Java etc). The video dimensions must be at least 600px x 450px.
[li]Grab every frame as a bitmap (or whatever format suits you)[/li]
[li]colour any pixel red, if it has a brightness above a given threshold[/li]
[li]Save the image of every frame as a jpeg[/li]
You should be able to get this up and running in no time. On an old 2.81GHz, 1Gb RAM box; C# will do it comfortably in less than 15 milliseconds, PHP will take at least 1000 milliseconds (maybe, even as much as 5000), whereas, a video frame takes just 30 milliseconds shocked.

If you are doubtful, I can give you the C# code to convert to PHP right here. Then, you will tell me how PHP did and stop arguing cool

Exactly!

There are serious problems with the way the union is handled. Rather than discuss our way out of tight spots, we always respond with a massacre. In recent times, there has been Odi, Anyiin, Gbeji, Zaki-Bian, Vaase, Tombia, Gbaramatu, Boko Haram etc. In the past, there was Asaba and other areas; the victims of these massacres are deeply traumatised and the "forget" switch that we want to apply to the victims just does not exist. Even if the Igbo's take this to an International court, concrete actions must be carried out by the FG if there is sincerity on its part.

These massacres are a macabre symptom of the things that are seriously wrong at the very heart of our union. We desperately need to sort it out; the same wrong headed thinking is stopping us from developing. We must either draw each other closer or go our seperate ways. It will cost much less to sort things out than to reach for the massacre button like a colony of savages and sub-humans; one day those pushed to the wall will inevitably react (as is beginning to happen with the descendants of the civil war Igbo's and the ND minorities).

We cannot bury problems of such magnitude forever.

"Until now efforts to relieve the Biafran people have been thwarted by the desire of the central government of Nigeria to pursue total and unconditional victory and by the fear of the Ibo people that surrender means wholesale atrocities and genocide. But genocide is what is taking place right now - and starvation is the grim reaper. This is not the time to stand on ceremony, or to go through channels or to observe the diplomatic niceties,  The destruction of an entire people is an immoral objective even in the most moral of wars. It can never be justified; it can never be condoned."

No, i dont feel or think the ND issue could be resolved that way. But I am posing a purely academic thought. the problem is i think complexly, but cant write everything down quickly. I am trying to show that the ND issue could be resolved by an all out warfare on the rebels. But these rebels are housed by people in their village making efforts futile. So in general, this makes things more complex, and so why not wipe out the whole village to prevent, an upsurge of more warfare (this sounds horrible), but as i said a thought experiment. Their is only two ways of resolving this issue- 1 is finding what the ijaw ppl want and tyring to reach a ground point, or do it the horrible way.

War with Nigeria, funded secretly by Shell, and company, and the northern elites who have more money than your so called igbo men could even dream of off, would make the war end in a maximum of five days.

Your mention of the ijaw conflict raises an important issue. The government could easily end the ijaw conflict by massacring the ijaw people (thought experiments, nothing to do with my opinions mate), but of course this would be seen as a genocide as opposed to maintaining federal peace. So its makes sense why such atrocities were committed during the civil war, as aforementioned.

Sea Shadow
Overview

Sea Shadow is a test craft developed under a combined program by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), the Navy, and Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space Company. The Sea Shadow program was begun in the mid-1980s. Its purpose is to explore a variety of new technologies for surface ships, including ship control, structures, automation for reduced manning, seakeeping and signature control. In 1993-1994, the craft was revealed to the public and underwent daylight testing. Since 1994, Sea Shadow has been maintained in a lay-up status and is currently homeported at Naval Station San Diego. In anticipation of conducting future ship research and development testing, the U.S. Navy reactivated the Sea Shadow craft in early 1999. Sea Shadow will support risk reduction for future surface ship platforms such as DD 21, the Navy's 21st Century Land Attack Destroyer. The platform will allow the Navy to explore and test, in a realistic at-sea environment, important DD 21 advanced information and automation technologies that support reduced manning and ship survivability.
