they should employ nigerians and not chinese ect. . . workers.
i hope these jobs will go to nigerians oooo
The problem here is that Nigeria's infrastruture base has been deliberately eroded so that corruption can thrive. But I see Soludo as the kind that has the vision for capacity building and investment in the individual as a resource. Let's keep fingers crossed.

Well, as you can see there is obviously no solution right now, except for us to try and work around that corruption. Meaning if you cannot beat them, then join them vigorously but intelligently. By that, I believe in stealing money and using it to start multi-corporations which cause jobs in nigeria and also sort of benefit the ppl. Like it sees there would  be no end to corruption in nigeria, from what i have seen
That is defeatist. There is always a way to do the right thing. Funny, but now is the best time (maybe the only time) to tear down those forces of darkness.

What alarms me most, is that Sanusi is eager to be seen as an intellectual (which he definitely is not) and he has a band of fanatic followers "sinking" the word into our heads. It won't work.

Here is a man in a position of authority, someone at the helm of affairs in Nigeria, yet all he can do is point fingers at the British who left 49 years ago. Intellectual?

@topic
We need visionaries and idealists at the helm of power in Nigeria. Of course there's no point being visionary if you have no bite, but Soludo has shown a ruthless streak with the way he has disposed off the Ubah cabal. So, fingers crossed.

I don't really know his history, but the reps have a lot of supremely corrupt young blood (eg Elumelu), that there's no hope for the future except a new crop of young people fashion new ways to gain grassroots power.

No- this is just the Nigerian way of greeting. You can see beaf is not offended, that is how we greet each other in nigeria. Its a cultural thing, just like how oyibo people say good morning.

yep, what we definitely do not need is a young graduate. What we need is someone who is young and idealistic. Like the problem with Old people is that they have already seen life as it is- and figured out that it is every man for themselves- so why care about poor nigerians? Sometimes, I still wonder how heartless you must be- to build a house and still billions of naira, while being aware of the significant poverty in nigeria. The best I can say is that maybe old age brings with it reduced conscience because maybe you have learned that the world is a wicked place to live and you have to do what to survive.
You are making a mistake, Dimeji Bankole is a relatively young man, isn't he?

never! what experience has he had, you think person go graduate and start looking for president job? nay he will work in similar roles for years and be a reknowned politician feel free to disagree i just yarn weting i know
Unless we can change the system, the fact is that in current Nigeria, all you need do is get your hands in someone elses pot and you pop through the ranks. You don't need to be a known politician.

The system needs to be changed, the thing most young people haven't noticed is that right now the door is wide open for change. Don't let top heavy hegemonies dissuade you. Did anyone really listen to General Akinrinade's call to dismantle the system? The door of opportunity will never be this wide open for young people. It is time to sieze it.

Politics › Re: Will A Young Man Ever Be The President Of Nigeria? by Beaf: 9:03pm On Nov 21, 2009
What is the guarantee that a younger person would not be worse than the present crop? Elumelu, Dimeji Bankole etc are young, but rotten.

The only way younger politicians can take over in Nigeria, is by forming their very own political party backed by modern communications, bravery and community level footwork. Anything else is a waste of time, the age of our politicians is steadily rising as the old guard hang on for dear life.
Politics › Re: Nairaland Political Action Committee (npac) by Beaf: 8:57pm On Nov 21, 2009
You might have to set up an independent website dedicated to this cause, instead of relying on NL.
There will be problems if NL users have to drop any secrecy sorrounding their identities to press home their points (no one will take the committee seriously otherwise).

This point takes on more importnace, especially these days when losers with messages in synch Ibori's sub-Nigerians in the diaspora message are bold enough to make death threats against fellow forum users https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-353466.32.html#msg4968114

more intergration is what we need in this country not less
some of u guys that come here and talk about tribe,i wonder how old u are?40,50?

abi when u dey university u dey choose your clique according to tribe? even the chick u toast na tribe?
we have fashola coming up and a few other governors that should do good, also i think soludo might be very good for anambra we have to wait and see
Open your eyes to what is written. Nobody is talking about tribe, outside of what Sanusi himself mentioned.
Nigeria needs more integration? Based on what? Toasting chicks or joining cliques or being below 30? Based on what?

you did not answer the question, how much experiences do you have with those languages
. . .
I have had quite some experience with pearl, some with python, a little PHP, a lot of ASP. I have across the board experience of both fast and slow languages.

Can we clear the questions I asked earlier?
I am beginning to think that by speed you mean, how quickly you can get the job done. That is productivity, not speed or raw performance.
It is healthy to have a balance of raw performance and productivity, instead of a near 100% tilt in one direction (Assembler vs Ruby).
