@BEAF

If she is innocent as you claim, why has she refused to report at the nearest EFCC office? why has she gone into hiding? why did she attempt to flee via Jimoh's private jet? Indeed the wicked flee when no man pursueth. Now she is wanted by the law enforcement agents?
Were did I claim she was innocent? Neither you nor I are expert enough to declare anybody guilty or innocent (especially in matters of huge legal proportions); to do so would only reveal shallow mindedness. She has not been found guilty by any law court and the jungle is no substitute for civilised order.

Why can't the powers that be, allow the law take its course in an orderly fashion? Is something being hidden? Why do most of us behave like educated agbero's and run after the loudest noisemaker?
Politics › Re: Waziri, 100 EFCC Men Storm Lagos To Arrest Debtors by Beaf: 4:12pm On Aug 25, 2009
This is state thuggery at best. So they arrest them, then what next? They can't be tried because they haven't committed any crimes. Stupid.

Someone is just putting up a smokescreen to hide their dubious intentions.
Politics › Re: Cecilia Ibru Is Not An Ordinary Nigerian - Lawyer by Beaf: 4:03pm On Aug 25, 2009
The woman has not been taken before any court of law and found guilty. We tend to love the very misinformed shortgun approach in this country; not clever. We regularly burn theives and lynch people in the streets; not clever. We hail the barbaric and chaotic exhibitions force; not clever.

If she has committed any crimes, why has she not been arrested and arraigned before a court? Why publish all the threats and plans to arrest her? Just do it, shut the press up and let the law take its course.

Someone is steering up a lot of dust to hide their true intentions, someone who knows just how silly and illogical Nigerians can get. Someone who doesn't care about manipulating our collective trauma from years of being beaten up and dehumanised by military regimes.

@sjeezy8
The deportation of beggars has nothing to do with taxes. Don't beat a dead dog.
If it it had anything to do with taxes, no less than 90% of Lagosians would have been deported or jailed. Why not gala sellers or carpenters? Ok, you might argue that they provide value, but that doesn't mean they pay taxes. What about area boys? They pay no taxes and to make matters wores, unlike beggars they tend to be very dangerous, aggressive and a threat to society.
Lets forget about tax, the reasons are elsewhere.

Stop being childish and abusing everyone indiscriminately. Make a logical contribution to the topic if you feel it is derailed, rather than derailing it with senseless rants. Avoid the caps lock key, it is rude.

WHY ARE USING TRIBE DID YOU SEE LAGOSIAN YORUBA PROTEST WHEN THEY SENT OYO PEOPLE PACKING? NO

If anything i can agree with is the fact lagosian care about Lagos state and that is the same with every state in Nigeria.
Whats your point? Have you seen Northerners protesting? huh
You are supportting my arguments by the very fact that you have mentioned your ethnic group were it wasn't neccessary.

Step outside yourself for a minute and you will easily see that your arguments have a strong etnic bias and more alarmingly you refer to Lagos with terms that should be reserved for a sovereign country.

A regrettable action was taken by Fashola.
Politics › Re: Lagos “deports” 160 Northern Beggers by Beaf: 10:04pm On Aug 24, 2009
A national conference is urgently needed.
Unfortunately, the only thing binding Nigeria is revenue handouts from the landlord of a piece of land named Nigeria.

This thread has exposed what we all know, that we do not believe in, trust or love each other. That some of us regard Northern beggars as little less than animals (I don't think it ends with beggars alone). It has also revealed that Lagosians (symtomatic of the wider country), maintain a hierachy of allegiances:
[li]first to their ethnic group[/li]
[li]second to their state[/li]
[li]third to states with similar ethnic demographics to theirs[/li]
[li]little or nothing to the Northern states[/li]
[li]little or nothing to the nation[/li]
Fashola (SAN) has been so passionately struck by the instinctive allegiances, that his legal mind was totally shut out of a monstrous decision.

Why do we pretend that we can continue like this? Why do we pretend that the structure of our "nation" is workable? Why not just sit down like mature people and lay down what will work and what will not; each by their regional circumstances, culture, ethnicity and resources?

This case shows more than anything that we are very foolishly applying bandages and rickety patches to a project that was grounded at birth; mistaking its drunken and suicidal steps to unescapable perdition as signs of life.

For your information

Destitutes of Yioruba extration were the first to thrown out of Lagos. Some were sent back early late last year.

You cannot legally deport an individual from any state in his/her country. But am sure if the existence of an individual is proven, beyond all reasonable doubt, to be inimical to that of others, such an individual can be declared persona nongranta
When was that? grin grin grin

How else, beside redistribution of money and wealth, do you envision that you could ever grow the domestic economy?
Before you embark on your scheme of states funding "begger projects", just maybe those states need to be making a 100% of their revenue. Don't you think? Otherwise it will be the ND paying for everyones "begger projects", just the sort of scrounging Fashola is fighting against. . .
Kobo,

I dont know the precise number of Almajiris deported from Lagos or their total number residing in Lagos but you can see them either as an eyesore or as a source of funding.

I see them as money generator. Put a levy on the headcount. Organize their population into heirarchy and give them representation. Let us assume that they total 1million in population. Then get a distributive number of state representation and each state is headed by a Head Almajiri and then the Heads are led by a Principal Chief of Almajirai (Plural for Almajiri). Through these heads the government can run a rehabilitation program that is in turn funded by allocations from their represented home states. Trust me. . .Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto and other stateswill gladly contribute funding to that program than have their destitutes repatriated back.

If Lagos levies #500 per day per head of Almajiri to his/her home state then that home state is burdened with the responsibility of care for the Almajiri in transit.
Repatriation is the decision of the Almajiri's home state. The Almajiri, if reptriated, should vent and be bitter to his/her home statefor not caring for their well being in Lagos.

May I add that the care and wellness facilities should be privately run and staffed.
Rubbish. Is this not oil money being "re-shared"?

There was a programme in Ghana about 10 years ago to welcome Africans in the Diaspora. Some land was allorted, there were some ceremonies and stuff. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the project.

I would suggest you ask the Ghanaian embassy about it. I wish I could recomend Nigeria, but I know of nothing on the ground at the moment.

Ghana is a lovely place, you'll really love the people there.

What areas of engineering could you help with? There are a couple of us looking to set an organisation to bring technology to the grassroots (across Africa) in very novel ways.

huh huh huh huh huh Ama kick ya butt grin grin. On a serious note,I ain't saying vote for a gay president forcefully. The point I am trying to get across is that every citizen of nigeria should be allowed their basic right to co exist no matter wot sexual orientation he or she she chooses. Amongst the right of any citizen of naija is that he or she can become president. If a gay person is qualified why should he be denied that right? Haven't straight people being ruling nigeria since we got our independence? where has that got us?
Eh! What is "sexual orientation"? You tink say you de akata? angry
In Nigeria there is no need for "sexual orientation"; men love women and women love men.

Sodomy is a jailable crime. People put tyres on those molesting kids and set them alight; the same goes with people molesting goats and other animals.
