shotster50:Springing a criminal from jail and foisting him on people through bloodshed will not exactly create saints. |
sharap! It is confirmation from the horses mouth. |
WASHINGTON -- Breaking two and a half decades of silence, former Liberian president and accused war criminal Charles G. Taylor said today that his infamous prison break from the Plymouth County Correctional Facility in 1985 was aided by the US government, addressing for the first time widely circulated conspiracy theories about his return to Liberia. http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2009/07/liberias_charle.html "I am calling it my release because I didn't break out," Taylor, 61, told the Special Court for Sierra Leone of the episode that has long been alleged to have been orchestrated by the US government. "I did not pay any money, I did not know the guys who picked me up. I was not hiding (afterwards)," Taylor testified in The Hague. Taylor's escape took place only days before his friend and Liberian military leader, Thomas Quiwonkpa, staged an unsuccessful coup against the Liberian government of President Samuel Doe in November 1985. Taylor alleged that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was working with, and arming, Quiwonkpa to overthrow the Doe government in the months leading up to the coup attempt. Taylor told the court that he was "one hundred percent positive" that the weapons Quiwonkpa was using "were paid for by the CIA." http://allafrica.com/stories/200907160048.html |
aishaah:Really ![]() Directly because of MEND, Arewa senators have backed down on resource control and state creation. They are now offering 50%! http://www.independentngonline.com/news/tfpg/article03 https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-297515.0.html |
Afaukwu:No! The country should be set upon the simple principles: 1. live by your culture 2. Eat what you produce The federating units should only have the following in common: a. Foreign Policy b. Food Silos c. Education Standards d. Judiciary e. Military f. Inter-state Transportation (water, land, air) g. National statistics Everything else should be devolved to the states. The states will pay 5% tax to the Federal govt on all earning (except agriculture) |
This prediction means money might be running low in the church. Tithes might drying up. The man is now angling for a big fish to pray for. Na wa! Why can't these folk "predict" things that arent obvious? |
Will the South West write itself out of any political benefits by making the wrong noises? The way MEND is going, they will attack anything to do with oil, especially if they think it benefits their strategy to cut its flow to the battle front. MEND have nominated Rochas Okorocha (an Igbo man from Imo state) as their spokesperson. So in one brilliant swoop have united the Igbo and the ND minorities. Where in these calculations is the South West? What can they gain with empty words of warning to MEND? The South West needs to find common ground with the South East and South South; or be left standing on the fence. |
. . .Just as if MEND went to Idumota ![]() |
Maybe more action from MEND will yield the remaining 50% vote. ![]() |
This guys voted for just 50%, despite having huge quantities of exploitable minerals. Why not 100%? Question is why? Could it be that the oligarchs find it easier to "divide and rule" the south while expoliting the ND to levels that shame slavery? Could it be that these same tactics will fail closer to home, so withold 50% so expoitation can continue "to a degree" in the ND? |
Ibime:It is another political masterstroke by MEND. Gen. Abbe is trying to stall the budding cooperation between the Niger Delta minorities and the Igbo. It makes it magnitudes more difficult to sweep aside the genuine needs and aspirations of the South. But such cooperation is essential to the struggles of both the Niger Delta minorities and the Igbo. It remains to be seen how the relationship with the South West will pan out. Ondo state is likely to go with MEND, but that might be as far as it goes for the South West. |
100 % resource control is the only lasting prerogative for peace.
Abi? Oga Yar Adua, we're not asking for much ![]() |
Na shakara! It seems more like a face saving tactic. Because of the speed with which govt accepted MEND's cease fire. But why Rochas Okorocha? I am smelling something. He is from Imo state, right? This is called checkmate. Kwenu! |
Charles Taylor escaped jail in the US, launched war in Liberia and gained power. . . .14 years of terror. In power, he was responsible for: 1. drugging children and using them as soldiers 2. rape 3. insurection in Gambia 4. war in Sierra Leone 5. tyranny and insurection in Ivory Coast 6. tyranny in Burkina Faso 7. 300,000+ deaths 8. several thousand barbaric punitive mutilations 9. blood diamonds But for civilisation, the beast Charles Taylor would be burnt at stake Some here; http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/02/weekinreview/02polgreen.html

http://leadershipnigeria.com/index.php/news/headlines/3366-rochas-accepts-militants-offer . . .But govt is not happy; ![]() 'Gen. Abbe declared that unless Okorocha comes out to tell Nigerians that he is one of the militants troubling the flesh and blood of Nigerians and the soul of the Niger-Delta in the recent past years, government cannot do business of negotiation with him on behalf of MEND, saying “If he (Okorocha) declares himself a militant, yes we will start dealing with him”' http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/07/16/fg-hails-mends-ceasefire-but/ Wonders shall never ceaze. South South + South East = A lot of Progress and Power |
JTF has just paraded new amoured vehicles for war against the ND http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/07/16/jtf-parades-combat-vehicles-mend-threatens-to-call-off-ceasefire/comment-page-1/ |
MEND has declared a unilateral truce after bombing of Atlas Cove in Lagos. The Nigerian government immediately accepted it. Is the National Conference nearer? Is the government right to accept MEND's truce? "Ufot Ekaette, minister for the delta region, told the BBC's Focus on Africa he was confident that a lasting peace could be framed within the next 60 days. "That's a good time for us to work with them [Mend], chat with them and come out with some conclusions," he said" Military spokesman Col Rabe Abubakar claimed 'the army was "implementing faithfully" its amnesty deal - which included a pledge to make no troop movements' http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/8152411.stm |
ocelot2006:Idiot ![]() When did you buy Nigeria's independence certificate? Go to Congo if you don't support MENd's defence of the Niger Delta

Chrome OS? Wrap and re-wrap linux and it's still linux. . . Not for the everyday user. Linux Net books didn't quite make off the starting blocks. Windows 7 is going to blow everything out of the water. It's shaping up to be the biggest ever OS release ever. Microsofts own servers crashed under demand. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8151342.stm |

. No one's begging to stay or preventing you from leaving. You either get the hell out or think of ways to resolve the crisis we face.
