Bros if we don't spend N20000 or N30000 on check up God forbid you end up looking for millions to travel abroad, which is wiser?

What about the well to do people who will also refuse to get checked up? Its even young upwardly mobile people who have health insurance that refuse to get tested and checked.

Even if you do just basics for N5000 or N10000 how about healthy lifestyle? There is no money yet beer parlours in every corner are never out of business. Ogogoro, agbo and other concoctions make money daily.

We should seek to educate our people rather than feed the bias of no money because God forbid when it gets bad its me and you who will contribute to fly them abroad

There law is a little lenient. Sources say he could get less than 5 years with a very good lawyer since there is no evidence to prove he locked her for months. But if its a case of battery that leads to death, then the minimum could be 21years but there will still be a need for autopsy to show the deceased died from the battery related injuries but i doubt if the family will wanna pass through such stress.

She isn't the daughter of the Prof because i know her parents very well but the Eghagha is one big family name so i wouldnt know if they are related in any way.
Even if it is not needed for court case, I believe according to medical practice, autopsy should be done for all corpses. This helps in identifying and understanding trends in death. I may be wrong.

I hope the family does the needful for justice sake.

Yea... The family is following up, the dude has been arrested and charged to court. The malaysians insisted that he will be persecuted in Malaysia since the offence was commited there. But they are charging him with molestation, battery and kidnapp related offences. But unknowingly to them the victim is dead... so the family is trying to write to them to inform them of the latest development.
If found guilty for the above offences, how many years will he bag?

I hope the lady is not the daughter of Prof. Hope Eghagha?

The guy has been arrested
My brother when it comes to health you know how my people think, its not their portion hence we have young people dying daily of what used to be old people's disease.
Mental health is even worse. I think it wasn't even a mental problem he just didn't want her going home and telling people what she had discovered about him seeing they were well known at home. Just sad, she was unlucky and its unfortunate
I hope it will not end in just arresting him. The dude must face the full weight of the law if found to be sane prior to the act.

Sometimes, one can't blame people who refused to go for medical check up. By the time hospitals slam medical fees on a person who doesn't even know how he will get to eat the next meal, such a one will see going to the hospital as the handiwork of the enemy.

If healthcare is affordable and qualitative, the impact of religious houses will be limited to cases requiring only miracles. The country is sick.

Yeah... Well said. But I can assure you that the Ese I know won't have tolerated an abusive relationship, she was just unlucky to be in a strange land and probably nobody to run to and she spoilt her chance of walking away from the relationship save and sound when she threatened to report the battery case to the police.
From that day she didn't get luxury of seeing her sitting room not to talk of sunlight as the dude locked her up for months... It took a distress call from a neighbor to the police who claims to be hearing screams at odd hours for her to be rescued..

But then it was already too late.
Hmmm... What a wicked world.

The initial write-ups made it looked like she knew what she was getting into. I have not been following the thread per se except your mention.

May her soul rest in peace.. so sad. However, my advice in choosing a partner still stand.

Are you by chance following the aftermath of the story to know how the Malaysian authority is handling this case?

The guy may likely be suffering from number of psychiatric problems because I wonder how a sane man will lock up someone for months without battling an eyelid.

Couples, it is safe to say that you go for periodic psychiatric examination/check up before any of the spouse turns to a voracious lion. I have done mine three weeks ago to keep in shape before to avoid any future story that touch.

You seem not to understand me.... I never said anything like marrying someone hoping they will change for good.... Rather I said you might marry someone you feel is an angel who turns out to be a demon, a sheep in a wolf clothing
Well, I understand you. However, if one pays detailed attention to what matters, a wolf can't hide for too long in a sheep clothing.

Not saying some can't be unlucky but there is always a way out before it leads to death.

I do not have all the details about this case but I know, she could have avoided an untimely death.

People change my dear, an angel today might end up a beast 2moro...
You don't marry someone with the hope that s/he may change for good. One of the mistakes singles make.

Seeing an abuser yet you insist on marrying him/her because Robber Kayode Williams may become an Evangelist tomorrow, my brother, it is a great gamble. Well, change is the constant in life. An example is the victim's husband who changed from an abuser to a murderer.

Remember Turkey! It was the beautiful Christian country
called Constantinople! Today it is history!
Do you know anything about what you typed up here? What do you know about the history of the church in Turkey? How does what happened in Turkey during the Ottoman take-over compare with Nigeria?

Constantinople is Istanbul which is the commercial capital of Turkey and not the whole of Turkey. The revival movement happened in South-western Turkey, Ephesus, Izmir, and the surrounding cities which represent the seven churches as outlined in the book of Revelation.

Are you just being religiously blind by sheer religious sentiment that lacks any iota of godliness?

You need to revisit or read the history of the church. Do you understand what persecution does to the church?

How has the "Christian" President advanced a righteous course in Nigeria? Has his presidency helped to turn the hearts of men to God in sincerity and truth? Rather than that, what we have is a CAN President engaging in illegal activities in conjunction with the presidency.

Until you can logically proof how the Christian President has helped the course of righteousness in this country, you should shut up on condemning a candidate who doesn't belong to your faith.

Between, your write up is a proof that you are a sunday sunday tonic church goer. You have never read that God can use the heathen to advance His course? An heathen king built the walls of Jerusalem.

The guy is not one to make rash decisions, since we were kids he decides on something he sticks to it, he is just interested in finishing divorce proceedings and working on child custody, she still thinks the marriage can be salvaged. Knowing him I doubt that. He has already paid 2 year rent in the place he got. He left the bank and got compensation and he is building a new house and running a business. He is actively planning a life without her
With this, only divine intervention can help her. she is a "goner".

She said the guy asked to help with legal bills.
She is not telling the truth. She could have told the guy that the lawyer is doing it pro-bono. She could come up with a better and reasonable lie.

BABE3:
why would she lie that she was collecting lawyer fees? That alone raises a lot questions.

If she can give a very good reason why she did what she did, then good.

Else, the pleading and begging na wash.

A friend that dines with the enemy is more dangerous than the enemy himself.
I wonder too...

Why does he suspect his wife? Does he have proof? Was it before, or is it as a result of the money transfers between his wife and the main culprit?

He didn't suspect his wife. He was telling his wife who he suspected.

I would have done the same.

Meanwhile, did she tell him why she collected money from the guy?

Has he ever suspected any link between his wife and the "philanthropist" guy?

The wife must confess reason(s) she collected money from the guy if there is ever going to be a way forward.

This can only happen in "mushroom" universities where lecturers can get away with all kinds of nonsense. This is not to take a shot at you or the girl but the set up of the university.

Many things she can do to be free, set him up.

Write an anonymous petition to the senate of the university detailing his "sexcapades" with students and advice the school to investigate past female examinations to find a trend.

Involve your students' union, they should know what to do.

arrange with a police and go for the visit.

many options but she needs strong "liver" to act them. She must confront that demon and put an end to it.

Which university are we talking about here?

with all this riches still want to leave them and relocate to Australia. If i am in your shoes, i will go to australia collect the pr and return back to my base. I heard that the grass is not that green over there.
Although, you didn't address this post to me but I will like to correct an erroneous impression. Not everyone seeking to relocate is doing so because of money. Money shouldn't be the motivating factor for everything someone does. If money is, then the person is very very poor and cannot be RICH no matter the amount of money s/he has.

There is something called quality of life. Have you ever wondered why the UN rates life expectancy for sane countries higher than that of "insane" countries like ours? It is not because they have more money but because they have an organised society that allows growth, healthy environment, competitions, equal opportunities etc (I am not saying they have a perfect environment but they have a process you can exploit to your advantage all things being equal).

Some dreams can be achieved in a particular location because it is where such dreams are encouraged and empowered to be actualized.

Many reasons I can tell you aside money for why people relocate but time wouldn't permit. So my brother, it is not about making more money. If it is, Nigeria is one of the easiest places on Earth to hit millions.

I'm really confused and don't know how to start. I'm not emotionally stable now, pls moderator or people incharge can help me correct any grammatical blunder in my story.
I'm into long distance relationship and we've been dating going to 2 years now.But my fiancee was being unfaithful but after so much confrontation she changed drastically, though there's still some traces of unfaithfullness but what pained me most is that she aborted pregnancy without my consent. And as a matter of fact she has been taken me for granted all because it seems I love her more than the way she loves me.
But our wedding is in couples of months. I'm really thinking of postponing the wedding or even calling it quit but because of the advance stage we're. But I'm thinking of going for the wedding and pay her back in her own coins after the wedding. Because she makes me feel bad whenever I remember. And she has promised me to be faithful and change a new leaf if I can meet her parents and she meets mine which I granted her. I'm really confused. Pls any advice from mature mind is welcome.
Bros, this lady will end up giving you what is called High Blood Pressure if you end up marrying her.

You don't have the guts and wits to handle this type of lady. You are a square peg in her round hole.

The pregnancy isn't yours, the church excuse is only to keep you shut.

Call off the relationship completely. Let the two parties count their losses and gains and move on with life.

My advice, get a gut.

Ohwhy:
You all have spoken well. But I wanna say that if my personality was as bad as some people here termed it, I won't have bothered posting this topic. I was frm a poor background when he met me, I never covered this up like most grls would. Infact I showed him where I live the first day we saw each other. He called me humble. Even with my kind of background, I was never materialistic. He loved this about me. (He had the guts to refer to me as poor after we tied the knots)
My kind of person, am a shy person who can hardly look at a person's face for more than 10 seconds. Am not confrontational ( now he wishes I was as aggressive as his friend's wife) I get scared easily I find it hard to ask questions most times . I don't like outrageous kinda dressing, I like to keep it simple, he loved this about me (now he calls me a small girl). Am not rude, am not insultive as I was raised well by my parents. I knew him well and he knows me well. The years of courtship was never filled with pretense because we spent a lot of time together. There was no room for one to pretend.
If what you have written up here is true, I guess your husband needs a psychiatric assessment. And I am serious about it by all means.

Nigeria is a very stressful environment which consciously and unconsciously affect people's minds. The uneducated way we view psychiatric examination makes it look like hell.

In all sincerity of purpose and concern for the well-being of every home, I think when doing periodic medical check-up, couples should subject themselves to psychiatric examination also.

The happenings in this country are enough to turn a sane mind insane and also make a wise man mad.

Your husband is under intense pressures and he is transferring the aggression on you. A sane mind doesn't threaten divorce after two months of marriage even if s/he marries the devil. Something big is wrong somewhere and I want to believe his CNS needs a thorough check and an urgent action will salvage the situation.

It is well.

I may not have a perfect understanding of what it means but I know I can accommodate the difference in my dealings with you. What join us as humans are more than what divide us.

Thanks for your cordiality. I'd be glad to have a real friend.
Not at all, not a gay guy but a guy who believe he is a she and has done hormonal transfiguration to look like a female. S/he is a member of the LGBT community in San Francisco.

I have had number of encounters with gay people, so I understand the orientation.
