An armed robbery suspect Adeolu Bankole who operates while wearing the uniform of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp NSCDC has been arrested by the operatives of Ogun State police command, IgbereTV reports.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was apprehended on the 5th of February 2021 following a complaint by some students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro campus who reported at Ayetoro area Command that they were robbed of their belonging at gunpoint by an armed robber, who broke into their apartment, dressed in Civil Defense uniform and dispossessed them of their phones and laptop.

''Upon the report, the area Commander Ayetoro, ACP Anthony Haruna, detailed his detectives to go after the hoodlum. After hours of painstaking investigation, the detectives received information about the hideout of the suspect. On getting there, a bag containing six phones, one laptop, a pair of civil defense uniform,s and a locally made pistol was found.

Upon the discovery, the detectives mounted surveillance in the area and at about 5pm, the suspect sneaked into the uncompleted building which is the hideout and moved straight to where the bag was kept. He was quickly rounded up and brought to the station. Two other stolen phones and a wristwatch was also found on him.

The complainants were sent for, and they all identified him as the person who robbed them. Investigation further revealed that the suspect stole the pair of Civil defense uniform from a parked Toyota camry belonging to an officer of the corp on December 2020 and thereafter set the car ablaze. The officer has also identified the uniform as his own," the statement read.

Ken Nnamani: It May Be Difficult For APC To Produce A Candidate Like Buhari In 2023

Former senate president and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ken Nnamani, has said the party may find it difficult to produce a good candidate like President Buhari to carry on with its legacy in 2023, IgbereTV reports.

Nnamani shared this thought during an interview with Channels TV.

He said;

“Mr. president believes in leaving a strong legacy and I understand from all his actions so far that he wants to live a strong party long after he has left office.

We are doing all we can to reposition the party because the party was more of… I wouldn’t like to say the word shambles. The constitution of the party is being reviewed. There is so much to be done.

It may be difficult to find a candidate of his caliber because he comes into election with 10 million votes in advance. He has core followers.

We will look hard and see if we can get people or somebody in that category. It will not be easy, however, he is trying to lay a strong foundation; that is this registration and revalidation exercise going on. So it is meant to strengthen the party and make it more attractive. So, I think if the party is attractive enough, it has future.”

Big Brother Naija 2020 housemate, Timmy Sinclair popularly known as Trikytee has opened up on how life can be hard on most celebrities especially some BBN housemates, after getting out of the reality show, IgbereTV reports.

According to him, the buzz surrounding him was the highest after the first week he got out of the highly acclaimed reality show. He admitted that he was blown away by the amount of social media following he had by the time he’d left the house and the attention from media houses was massive.

He however said that after some months, the buzz goes down and reality hits because deals were hard to come by. He added that this was made more obvious when he would notice his colleagues snagging one deal or another and he’ll keep waiting in faith.

On how he was able to avoid depression due to everything happening, he said;

"First, i told myself that my journey is different, i looked at the long-term plan and i noticed that this was only the first step and my story is different from everybody else’s story.

Secondly, I work extra hard to get stuff for myself since i wasn’t getting gifts from fans like other housemates usually do.

Also, i believe in God and it keeps me sane, i concluded that it was the will of God for me to be on the show and that alone, is enough blessing."

In the 30 seconds video shared online, it appears the ''victim'' was partying with a group of people when one of them tactically slipped something into his drink. It appeared that something was sprayed in the man's eyes to distract him from noticing his drink being laced.

EFCC Arraigns Ex-bayelsa Governor’s Aide, Two Others, for Alleged N864m Procurement Fraud

A former Senior Special Assistant on Millennium Development Goals to the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, Embelekpo Apere, was on Thursday, January 28, 2021 arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, IgbereTV reports.

Apere, was arraigned alongside Rollins Allison Amacree, Clever Loveday and a company: Oriazy Global Link Limited before Justice Jane E. Inyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on 10-count charges bordering on alleged conspiracy and procurement fraud to the tune of N864, 104, 000. 00(Eight Hundred and Sixty Four Million, One Hundred and Four Thousand Naira only).

Count 2 of the charges read:"That you, Embelekpo Apere and Rollins Allision Amacree, on or about 2015 and 2016 in Bayelsa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did without soliciting for expression of interest by publishing a notice to that effect in Two National Newspapers and in your Journal, awarded and paid contract worth N352,104,000.00 (Three Hundred and Fifty-two Million, One Hundred and Four Thousand Naira only) to Dekams World Global Nigeria Ltd and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 44 (a) and 45 (2) of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and punishable under Section 58(1) of the same Act".

Count 3 read:"That you Embelekpo Apere and Rollins Allision Amacree, on or about 2015 and 2016 in Bayelsa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did without soliciting for expression of interest by publishing a notice to that effect in Two National Newspapers and in your Journal awarded and paid contract worth N182,000,000.00 (One Hundred and Eighty Two Million Naira) only to Ayebomateke & Son's Ltd and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 44 (a) and 45 (2) of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and punishable under Section 58(1) of the same Act"

They all pleaded "not guilty" to the charges when they were read to them. In view of their pleas, prosecution counsel, M.T Iko asked for a date for the commencement of trial.

However, counsels to the 1st and 2nd defendants, Oyebiyi O and P.J. Fawei and counsel to the 3rd and 4th defendants, W. Ogberipou informed the judge of bail applications already placed before the court. This prayer was contested by Iko who expressed fears that the defendants may interfere with the prosecution of the case “by threatening witnesses and the prosecution". He prayed the court to for an order for accelerated hearing of the matter.

Justice Inyang, however, granted the defendants bail in the sum of Twenty Million Naira (N20, 000,000.00) each and one surety in like sum, who must be residents within the jurisdiction of the court.
All the sureties should depose to an affidavit of means and deposit their original Certificates of Occupancy with the Deputy Court Registrar.

The Judge also ordered that international passports of defendants be handed over to the Registrar of the Court while sureties should be verified by the Investigating Officers.

The matter was adjourned till February 17, 22 and 24, 2021 for hearing.

The defendants got into trouble by awarding contracts without following due processes. They allegedly made payments to third parties exceeding N50million without passing through a financial institution, in violating of provisions of the Money Laundering Act.

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria has released new images of the commencement of demo flights by United Nigeria Airlines, IgbereTV reports.

The airline conducted its first demo flight from the Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos to Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri on the 16th of January 2021.
