PhonesRe: Is MTN a Black-Owned Company? by Bibi(m): 7:25pm On Jul 31, 2005
Obong....be careful...you are threading the line of racism. I dont care who owns any company, black or white...as long as the company operates good ethics and moreso providing livelihood for my brothers and sisters in Nigeria. The so called black millionaires in Nigeria dont own anything to employ the common man, rather they stash their money away in foreign accounts, buying expensive cars and property. No income generating investement that employs the lots of Nigerians......If u want to talk of racism, talk about Nigerian millionaires who have no tangible investment in the economy.....they are the racists to their poor , suffering black fellows...
Nairaland GeneralAny Nigerian Leader You Would Emulate? by Bibi(op): 7:16pm On Jul 31, 2005
Would you "Emulate" anyone after they die?

I noticed that Nigeria is filled with psycophants. Anytime a popular person dies, there is lots of eulogising in the papers and everybody advising everybody to "emulate" this dead person. These are the same people who would have snubbed the dead man when he was alive, calling him thief, or maybe the guy also, we know how well he has drained Nigerian economy, etc.

Would you emulate any Nigerian leader? If yes, who would you choose to "emulate"?
Nairaland GeneralSmoking, Drinking, or Womanizing? by Bibi(op): 7:09pm On Jul 31, 2005
Forced Indulgence

If you are forced to take on one of the following vices (that is if you don't do it already  huh), which one will you choose in preference for others? List in descending order.

1. Smoking (anything)
2. Drinking (I mean real drinking)
3. Womanizing (adultery, fornication, sex outside marriage, sex before marriage, etc)
BusinessGlobal Business Outsourcing and Nigeria by Bibi(op): 6:58pm On Jul 31, 2005
Can Nigeria benefit from any global business outsourcing?

India is blossoming these days from numerous IT support outsourced to that Country. With that, India is fastly developing its IT industry, offering the bedrock of services remotely to many corporations in Americas and Europe. The huge population, good infrastructure and education, low income are key catalyst to these western attraction.

While India is doing great with IT outsourcing, China is doing the same with many companies outsourcing their manufacturing to China. Think of it, anything from Clothing to Cars to heavy duty engineering...everything is now outsourced to China. The catalysts are the same as for india.

The same for Brazil, also one of the fastest growing economies.

As Nigeria struggles daily with income identity with oil, is there a chance that Nigeria may benefit from any form of outsourcing? Do we have what it takes if we compare our level of infrastructure, education (good?) with China/India/Brazil? Yes, population and low income are there. What is the potential of Nigeria catapulting itself to another bedrock of manufacturing or services industry?[/b]

TravelRe: Desperate to Travel to Europe by Bibi(op): 4:56pm On Jul 30, 2005
Hello cOdec,

I was in Nigeria for most of the time this guy was drifting all over. I don't consider him a friend now " note.I said I had a friend". He had cut himself off from anyone who tried to advice him otherwise. Another thing cOdec, he is a fully certified 419 now...There is no way I will associate with fellows like that.

When desperation takes over all form of reasonable thinking, then its share madness as in this case.

Its true I don't live in Nigeria now, however I remain a Nigerian. I don't have any  other Nationality, and I go to Nigeria at least once a year. So, for those who cry about Nigerian living abroad being out of touch with home, you miss the point in this case.

I will help anyone through legitimate links. Not otherwise, not for any friend, no matter how close, if he choses to go through doubtfull processes.
PoliticsRe: Enforcement of Sharia Law in Muslim States by Bibi(m): 1:59pm On Jul 28, 2005
In all intent and pourposes, the introduction of Sharia in a secular country in criminal. Those states that have introduced Sharia are threading on criminality and affront with the Nigeria Status of secularity. The constitusion has not empowered any state to declare itself as a "Muslim State".

I would not join this thread further as it will unearth a long list of issues between the Meaning of Islam, its practices and followership.

The declaration of Sharia and "muslim state" is an affront to other religions and well being of the country. In the end, it will lead to different types of profiling of people as we have notices already (men vs women, Christians vs Moslem, north vs south, etc). It's a bad trend for Nigeria.
ComputersRe: Fiber Optics or VSAT, which way to go? by Bibi(m): 1:51pm On Jul 28, 2005
Thanks techies. I cant understand a word of your analysis. Anyway, all I want is a fast internet speed access. The big problem is that what works in Oyinbo country with a few tweaks will take a lot of newspaper analysis and countless engineeriung to make it work (a little bit - not ongoing) in Nigeria.......The GSM palaver in Nigeria is a sorry case, when infact they have all deployed 2.5G infrastucture, their quality of service is poorer than a 1G (if there is anything like that), while I do not see a significant improvement vs Nitel offering. Looks like a case of if you cant lead the show, joing in......

Kazey, K2 - ---- its completely true. I know it unbelieveable. To me its more than passion but stupidity. The only thing he thinks about is as Ive mentioned, thats what he dreams of, day and night. I know he's in one of the francophone countries now. Most probably he will get a Camerounian or so passport soon and find his way to Paris. But I know he wont rest until he gets to London, thats where all his childhood pals are. The big wonder is whether those guys who have been in UK 10+ yrs will open their doors to this crazy guy if he eventually lands.......except those that have the various degrees like Chxta talked about...
ComputersRe: HP Officejet Printer Problems (need qualified Technicians) by Bibi(m): 11:47am On Jul 26, 2005
My friend, dont be decieved by anyone who says they are qualified. HP has not qualified anyone to do that. With most of these printers, its best to just replace with new ones, once you have these problems (result of frequent NEPA power cuts). You will soon find out anyway that its cheaper to replace than to fix.

Modern electronics are not built for repair, if it fails, throw it away and replace it (that is if you care for the quality of the output)
RomanceRe: Why Do You Want To Get Married? by Bibi(m): 7:15pm On Jul 25, 2005
A lot of people get married for different reasons. In many cases, those reasons change with time, age, society pressures, etc. Its easilly understandable when people say they married for love, but is that really the reason? What happens if for some medical reasons the couple cant have a child, thats when the real reason will come out. Or when your wife becomes flabby after having 3 kids, you suddenly realized " you are stll a strong man kakaraka" and you started chasing those long legs.......Most 35+ men are in this category, while women in the 30+ suffer most because its at this age that men discover what they want and the woman, being trapped in the marriage suddenly discovers the "reason" why the man married her................

RomanceRe: "If she's in a relationship, leave her alone!" by Bibi(m): 7:02pm On Jul 25, 2005
Women "glow" when they are in love. Its easily noticeable and at that height of feeling they are not easily interested in any other fellow. But then, thats as long as both the man and the woman have something going. If something suddenly goes wrong, you will realise that women who had been in relationship " are the ugliest" ....a lot wiser and maybe a dismay for the next guy.
TravelDesperate to Travel to Europe by Bibi(op): 6:51pm On Jul 25, 2005
When will you give up on your un-attained passion?

I once had a friend who wanted to leave Nigeria for Europe.

He has crossed Sahara twice, once through Morocco where he was nabbed and rescued by some barbars. He has to pay his slave wages by digging salt somewhere in the Sahara in Mali. He eventually made it back to Nigeria.  This took about 5 years out of his life.

Second time again, he left Lagos through the Sahara to Libya. He almost go through, but for Italian army that guided their boat safely back to Libya. To avoid Gaddafi's wrath, my friend went back through Sahara back to Nigeria. The 3rd trial was to stow away on a ship. He almost got thrown off at the sea. Anyway, the Captain was nice, he dropped them off on an unknown island. He spent almost 5 years with the local people there, farming.  He got married and had a baby, but his heart was still in Europe. He escaped at some point on a fishing trawler to find himself in Senegal. Now he has found his way back to the streets of Lagos and is planning his next move.

In all, it's 20 years since he left secondary school. He didn't pass his WAEC.  All his friends who were not dreaming of Europe have gone through to University, had good jobs, drive their own cars, got married and some eventually finally made it out of Nigeria via work transfer or other legitimate reasons.

Our dear old friend has achieved nothing. He is still chasing his dream. 20 years have gone bye and nothing to show for it. I really wonder what he will do if he eventually get to Europe.

My friends, when does passion become stupidity? Do you have an unattained passion? How long will you keep it, when unattained?  When will you realize its time to let go?
PoliticsPermanent Seat on UN Security Council for Nigeria? by Bibi(op): 3:40pm On Jul 24, 2005
Nigeria, along with South Africa and Egypt are at cut throat with the permanent UN security council seat. While Egypt claims to represent African and Middle East interests, South African is pressing as the Economic power in Africa and increasing international role in African conflicts.

Nigeria is intesifying its lobby for the UN seat. What are the chances of nigeria? Do you think that Nigeria deserve this seat? If so, Any suggestioning for OBJ and others about finetuning Nigerias strategy for the seat?
Nairaland GeneralRe: Monthly (Full) Membership Fee: 400 naira or 250 naira? by Bibi(m): 4:38pm On Jul 19, 2005
Seun,

I believe everything should be free. otherwise, there are a lot of competing features out there that people will use anyway. If you are considering commercialization, you might have to think os something else, more strategic. I will think up some ideas to share..

FamilyHusband at Home While the Wife Works? by Bibi(op): 4:19pm On Jul 19, 2005
In the modern day, with respect to whoever has a better career, lets assume in this case, the woman.
If your wife gets posted oustide the country, would you pack your bags and follow your wife, knowing (probably you dont know), you may become a househusband, taking care of the babies while your wife works, doing the home stuff and waiting at month end for your wife to give you pocket money.

Any inputs into this thread? Man staying at home while the wife works. How good or bad is this? Would you do this for your wife if she has a better career?

Wife - would you see this man as supporting you or being a parasite on you?

lets talk ladies and gents....
PoliticsRe: Separation of Religion and Government by Bibi(m): 4:08pm On Jul 19, 2005
In a single religion state, it is hard to separate religion from Governance. this is the big problem in the Middle East which the west cant comprehend. On the Contrary, for secular states, Religion should be excluded from Governance, otherwise you have the problems like in Nigeria and India where everyone thinks their religion is supreme.
However, the calmour for religion in Governance is due to the decay in the democratic process whereby our values for life and dignity is been traded for a democtratic treatment of issues like Gay, Lesbianism, Capital punishment, etc. Most religions are soundly against this and when democraZy is being bent to accomodate these tabboos as a sociental norm , with rights - its a big slap on religious beliefs. This explains why the Middle East would not want the Western type of democrazy. its easier in Asia as the mostly dont belief in anything, anyway.
TV/MoviesRe: Common Flaws in Nigerian Home Videos by Bibi(m): 3:18pm On Jul 16, 2005
I enjoy Nigerian movies, they remind me so much of the violence at home, the Negative attitude of the average Nigerian that drives them on the crazy edge, the absurd reality of affluence and sow nothing reap plenty culture. They are key to promoting the decadence in our society, especially the so called 419s and get rich quick syndrome. This does not mean that we don't have a few intelligent producers, who go after the quality of the story, the pictures and the actors.

Many of us enjoy Nigerian movies, not necessarily for the creativity (very very few), but just pure entertainment. However, with Nollywood, the Nigerian movies industry is challenging Hollywood and Bollywood. Does Nollywood really have what it takes, I see this as the typical Nigerian noise, usually very loud with little or no substance.

Be that as it may, the Nigerian movie industry started more than a decade ago and still today, is basking only in home movies glory. No Cinema quality movies. The quality is seriously missing both in concept, creativity in production, and quality of the pictures. I bet anyone with a Camcorder is a movie producer.

SportsRe: Basketball in Nigeria by Bibi(m): 8:45pm On Jul 14, 2005
Nigerians flow where the money is, so Soccer is it...its available worlwide. Most people arent tall enough for basket ball, so that rules them out. Naija man doesnt do anything for fun but for rewards, hence the big soccer focus.
BusinessRe: The Dangote Group by Bibi(m): 8:41pm On Jul 14, 2005
Dangote is a reputable business group, employing a lot of Nigerians in legitimate business.unlike those who stack their cash away, riding flashy cars, claiming they are the richest in Nigeria and their only employees is their driver and "megard".
RomanceRe: [Kissing] Your Partner Doesn't Know How To Kiss by Bibi(m): 8:27pm On Jul 14, 2005
Sade, which kind kiss you want? I get different styles, I get them plenty for pocket..sloppy, wet, sqeeze, bite etc... grin

On a serious note, Nigerian ladies dont know how to kiss, they just roll out their thick tongue into your cheek as a practice, no emotion, some are also very timid with lip touching. Anyway, more practice will hopefully do. I think Im a great kisser and willing to try you out Sade, provided you are an exception to these timid Naija babes..

The act of kissing involves two people who enjoy their unique experience, if both people love just to chew their tongues or bite the blood out and they enjoy it, thats great. Whats good for Peter isnt necessarily good for Popeye. So I dont think there is a standard to the art of kissing. Each couple draw the line as they feel fit for them.
