and by the way, apart from that, these northerners were a bit shallow and narrow-minded and they believed (and were correct in a way) that the schools tried to stylishly draw muslims into christainity (many missionary schools are in the north both in the past and present)

and btw, Islam (unlike christainity of the past) embraced science. many muslims in the past were scientists. one example, Algebra was invented by a muslim (hence the arabic-ness in the name lol). i can give more examples if you want. see how Islam also embraces education?

They discovered algebra? well that was then, we are faced with the realities of today. I still find it hard to reconcile islam and invention. It's a tough pill to swallow. I believe every Nigerian would prefer to be in Nigeria, but please what should we come back to be doing. To count up the numbers and seat watching the politicians and others at the corridors of power steal the money. Even if we all come back, we still cannot exist in isolation. As much as this incidence does not mean that we are doomed as a people, the fact is that most of us have been able to keep our heads up and walk tall, because at the end of all the atrocities we are associated with as a people, Terrorism was completely out of it till now. We probably have not fully appreciated the extent of this situation. May God help us.

If that really is his face then there is something amiss. One, he is a Nigerian and a huge percentage of Nigerians (if not all) are cowardly and do nothing except for profit and selfish reasons. Two, did anybody notice his yuppish image and style? like i said b4 he is a Nigerian; we love life too much to be suicide bombers. As of this morning CNN said on the plane the young man looked "dazed and confused". there is really something amiss.

Really? Path of logic? You are only expressing your view and that is called opinion. I disagreed with your opinion and a few others and hence i took time respectfully to adduce the reasons for my opinion. Are you calling your opinions 'path of logic'? I expect you to do so but that does not mean i consider it so. What is important is to respect you opinion while i express mine. Now to more substantial issues;

CBN Governor (or soludo as you called him) is not entrusted to watch and protect your money. If this is your comprehension of the job of CBN Governor, then you are wrong. So the issue of mismanaging your money is misnomer for the issue at stake. The banks are managing your money and i do not know any depositor who has lost his/her deposit with any of the banks in the current situation. If you know, please advise me. However if you are referring to investors, let me know and i will explain to you the responsibility of an investor.

You mentioned that the former CBN Governor said all was with the banking sector. He was fulfilling the responsibility of his office because he has appreciation of the powerful position he held. It was not because he did not know at that time things were not right. Most market knew he would not have created EDW if he thinks things were right. He is entrusted to provide confidence to the market as long as necessary to avoid collapse of the market. You might disagree with that but that what CBN Governors do.

You mentioned the fraud was unearthed after he was removed. That in itself is inaccurate. The special audit was initiated by the former CBN Governor a few months after his intervention with EDW. The report which was presented to the presidency by the former CBN Governor contained all the misappropriations of the CEOs. So, the information you have that the massive fraud was discovered after he was 'removed' (he served out his term, if i remember) is not accurate. If you are in doubt, go back and listen to Mr. president remarks after the CEOs were sacked. He made it clear he had the report much earlier but wanted another person to execute it. If you are still in doubt, look for a couple of interviews where the current CBN Governor also said the special audit was conducted for the initial 10 banks by the former CBN Governor.

I believe i have addressed all the substantial issues you have raised. I do not expect to change your opinion but to appreciate the issue is not as simple as you seem to think.

Lastly, your last statement is amusing and childish, with all due respect. The notion that people who disagree with your opinion do not comprehend simple things is usually, though not always thrown around around when people do not want to debate issues on substance. If you go back and look at most of your responses to people with different opinions, you will see they are aggressive and disrespectful. Some of the people who agree with you express their opinions without making derogatory remarks as if they have monopoly of knowledge. I only say this as an advise. I am willing to debate any substantial issues you might want to raise and also accept mistakes when i write something that's inaccurate. That's my idea of exchanging views with a fellow countryman.

Is the financial melt down the reason why people should borrow money unchecked and refuse to pay or is it the reason why a cbn governor will not put in place checks and balances to prevent any funny business. As you can see from my post/language i am not an economist or a banker but an individual who thinks logicaly. So please dont come and confuse us here. Global melt down is one thing and financial ineptitude is another.

1stly, we should stop sentiments & think objectively as nigerians who pray 4 d betterment of this country. It's a general fact that lapses of a leader can be easily covered up while in office.

Soludo is an academician, a prof. of economics. His facts of live about finances is book and not really what is happening in reality. Sanusi is a co-banker right away from beginning of his career. Soludo was a lecturer b4 his tenure at CBN while Sanusi has been in banking system as a risk analyst & credit management officer. Soludo had little intrics of banking system b4 he moved 2 CBN but Sanusi is more acquinted with the system.

Base on the above view points, there were lapses in Soludo's administration while he was in office as CBN Governor. Virtually all banks in nigeria did cook their books. Surprisingly, Soludo & his management team couldn't un-cover one despite the credit crunch that hit the global economy during his tenure. All what our then CBN Gov could say was that Nigeria would not be affected as if we were living in another planet different from other worlds. Definitely, he covered up his backside & patch the path.

Let's look @ it from another angle. I believe we all did economics while we were in secondary school. In the subject, we have a topic called Commerce which is simply defined as Trade & Aids to Trade. Trade means Manufacturing & Producttion while Aids to Trade  means Services. Manufacturing & Productions are the bed rock of economic development while service firms oil the bed rock for easy growth. Banking falls under services.
But the "reality" then in Nigeria was that our manufacturing companies were collapsing while bankings were thriving up. Meaning that foundation is collapsing but surface is rising up. Without production NO service. Nigerian economy is a funny where foundation collapsed but top "rised firmly" surviving global economy crisis.

Soludo has failed in discharging his duty as CBN Gov. who ought to regulate nigerian economy through commercial banks. What the man end up doing was to be wining & dinning with "Bank-thieves" who, obviously had given him his own share of "Bad-Debt Planned Profit Sharing Surplus Declaration".

Fellow Nigerians, let's put sentiments aside. I can't praise Sanusi for now, cos he's still in office. I give lots of credits to Tinubu & little to Fashola. This is because if Tinubu's administration had not been good, Fashola would have been able to perform to this level. That's the way we should look at it.
