With the kind of replies i see here,it is clear that this nation is a lost cause. The fact that our politicians are far removed from the harsh realities facing the common man doesnt mean they dont use internet. There is hardly any news concerning nigeria that doesnt come up on nairaland and when they use google,they see this forum and browse through what they percieve to be the mind state of nigerians. Look at how some so called nigerians are showing passionate support for a man that took corruption and political thuggery to greater heights. A man that instilled the 'chop i chop' mentality that is the foundation of the insane/ridiculous embezzlement we see today. Are we trying to say that in the whole of this country,there are no credible people of our generation that can assume the mantle of leadership? Some say our generation lacks 'experience' and i wonder. . .how much 'experience' is required to lead a nation? Is there a school of 'experience' one needs to enrol in? How much experience did the likes of ibb,abacha and shagari have when they became leaders? How old were they during that period? The likes of zik and anthony enahoro were in their 20's and 30's when they fought for independence. Our first head of state was an elementary school teacher. I think about these things and i wonder. . .what the hell do nigerians mean when they talk about 'experience'. Obama went from lecturer to congress man and straight to presidency. In nigeria, such a man would be ridiculed because he lacked 'experience'. They would never give him a chance. What nigeria needs are younger men with vision and determination and not these cankerworms who are holding unto power to keep the skeletons of their past at bay and protect their selfish interest. Nigeria is not as complex as people deem it to be. Tribalism and greed are the clogs holding this country to ransom. Remove those two and see if nigeria wont outshine dubai in the next 15-20 years.

After basic training and AIT, (six years ago) I got my posting and the first officer i reported to was a captain. As i approached him his features were oddly familiar. When i got within range i gave my salute and lo and behold when the officer uttered "at ease" i was amazed to find out he was igbo. Can you imagine an igbo captain in the US army. And not just a mere captain. this guy was a highly trainned army engineer, the level that would make Nigerian proffs feel like secondary school boys. I told him i never thought i would meet a Nigerian talk less of an igbo man with such responsibilities and position in the US army. He said i had not seen anything yet. I later found out that there were higher ranked Nigerian soldiers there. I asked him about his opinion on matters in Nigeria and the biafra aspiration. You know what he said? "dont mind those fools who through no fault of theirs have not seen a better option and have been brainwashed through poverty to believe in someone elses agenda. Six years later fools are still pushing the f.ucked up agenda, God save us.

i am still wondering why it is so hard to believe, even in your own backyard you have sociopathic/murderous muslims roaming the streets, so why is it so hard to believe that one of these sociopaths can be recruited to blow up people. Reading all these posts is begining to give me migrane. it is disheartening to read posts where people live in denial and false patriotism. Nigeria will never develop with people like these. Where what is bad is colored to good. where sycophants are mighty and the lapdogs of the exploiters. What we are concerned about is the Western media's almost pathological obsession with coming up with horror stories about Africa. These lopsided media reports give very false picture of Africa in the minds of Western viewers and even in the minds of some disgruntled elements of Nigerian extraction.

and what u fail to realise is that my points are all interlinked with the topic at hand. what is the "very false picture of Africa" that the media reports have put out? what have they said that are lies. There is a yoruba saying which basically says that if you refuse home training then you should expect outsiders/strangers to to train you, and believe me outsiders will not train you in the same cuddly way your parents would have. If we as a people refuse to clean up our acts then we should not complain when the spotlight is shone on us. you are refusing to accept one of my biggest points which is to stop this blind/retarded patroitism and giving ridiculous excuses for naijas backwardness.

when i clicked on this topic i was amazed at the pictures i saw. i was even more shocked at the first remark i saw from a poster saying that what was wrong with the pictures? at least there are slums everywhere in the world. This is clear proof that once you have been perpetualy r.aped into a state of mind, your logic and reasoning will forever be below par and warped. sadly this is true for many Nigerians. Filth, decay, curroption, insecurity, rigging, bribery and so on and so forth has become a way of life for Nigerians that they mostly do not see anything wrong with sights and situations like this. Once on another topic one poster who i seriously despise (AFAM: because of his warped reasoning) claimed that opinions of those of us abroad do not matter. Please. We are unfortunate to have lived in a society that is filled with decay and are lucky enough to relocate to a sociey where everything functions the way it should. Of what use is my being here and not be able to at least educate many of the morons who accept the decadence in Nigeria that it is wrong. I cannot remember the last time i saw so much filth in one place. God, We are in trouble.
