Culin: Trash. Especially number 1. So if a girl uses an iPhone, it means she has succumbed to pressure and not a good wife material? How about those who feel more comfortable using apple tools for their jobs. Or people who are into businesses that require topnotch pictures. Or boss ladies who appreciate the class and can afford it.
Some girls had to do runs to even afford the Tecno or Itel they're using, does that make them good wife materials? Some people use it because it's their taste and they can afford it. Some others may not because it's not their taste even though they can afford it. Then there are the ones who want to use it but simply can't afford it. They kind of phone a lady uses has nothing to do with her being a good wife material.
And before some people start quoting this comment and putting their family problems on my head, i use an android-Samsung not Iphone. Your kind are rare online and offline. |

Guys, asking for my younger bro — What's the cost for WES evaluation of WAEC/SSCE result? And how long does it typically take. I discovered on WES website that secondary school result (from Nigeria — WAEC) can be evaluated.
Anyone with good information on this? |

adetayoonas: Is it really true that some first class graduates are jobless or with low pay jobs cos I m just wondering how true that is. Pls I need comments and real life experience Hello. Actually, there are. I am currently job hunting, I graduated with a First Class (in Geography). Course of study matters, I studied Geography for the flare I had for it, without looking at the job prospects. This isn't a lamentation though, but I know better now. I always thought graduating with a First was all that mattered and that everything would eventually fall in place. I don't know whether to say I am wrong just yet. P.S: I graduated from one of the acclaimed top Federal Universities. If that's important. |

CeterisXVII: Do you have a good job now, in a solid, corporate organisation?? That is the most important thing.....not this long grammar you recited up here. Graphic design will only help you to keep body and soul together, on a small scale level.
Na so we see am, o! The sad thing is that society and even the academia, makes people believe that having a 1st class degree, is a ticket to paradise.
In the old days, yes.... that was true. But these days, the story has changed.
You need solid technical skills, good networks, membership of professional associations, certifications etc., in order to land any good well-paying job, these days.
That is why some 1st class graduates get easily depressed, when nothing good is turning up for them, during their job search. Because they believe their degree will automatically open doors, for them....and when it doesn't, it becomes a problem. You're not far from the truth. I want to say more, but I'll keep to myself. |

This is true. I can attest to it, I hail from that area.
As a matter of fact, what the poster said about the house is just little compared to what has actually happened in that building.
The house is haunted, believe me. Nothing goes in and ever comes out. We can only trace the house to one Millionaire, an only son who used his mother for money ritual. It was said that he had to renew the ritual yearly with young girls. It was said that the blood of his mother was mixed with every single block used to build that house.
Part of his covenant was never to mingle with the outside world. There's nothing you will not find in the compound, everything. But this still remains a mystery to us from that village.
There's more. I'll keep dropping the gist. |

eniorisha: See the so called brilliant o. They are like "the teacher is a disgrace" , ".. shld be placed on suspension" etc. Yet, most of them still making d same mistake d teacher made. Also there are engineers among u people DT still patronise your road side counterparts to get simple things done. Equally, there are some graduates who can't independently carry out any task in their fields without consulting Google or their colleagues.
So what make u different from d teacher?
I tell u, English is like computer system. it's open ended. U can't master it all.
That topic may sound simple, but I tell u even most English language graduates will still get one or two a/an article wrongly except he painstakingly crosscheck to confirm his usage.
How many people know words such as "ewe", "European", etc phonetically start with consonant /j/?
As in "a ewe" , a "European airline" etc. News flash. Your Yoruba people still say; "An European", "An Union". Yes, quote me! |
Education › Re: Can English Article (An) Be Used For Happy? by Bifrost: 4:17pm On Oct 18, 2019 |
tfash96: Let me contribute as a graduate of OAU from ENGLISH department but LITERATURE IN ENGLISH to be precise.. English as a language is very complicated.I personally can say English is crazy if you don't study it very well as in real studying. You might not know you're fumbling or have been fumbling
To cut the long story short, English Language isn't like our native language here that every word's pronounced starting from the 1st letter e.g Knife(K is useless when pronouncing) now seeing any word that starts with "H" does not mean you should pronounce "H" with it or "h" sound is pronounced in the word.. Using "hour" as an example it starts with vowel sound which is "a" so that means when you want to use your article it will be "an" as in "an hour" but in "HAPPY" its case is different letter h and /h/ isn't silent makes it to go with an article that goes with consonant which is "a"
GOD BLESS Tell them. Although, my initial post may have been unnecessarily stereotyped. But truth is, linguistic interference is the problem with most ESL speakers. Yorubas have problems with letter 'h', especially in words beginning with 'h'. Some native Igbo speakers have problems with pronouncing words with clusters of consonants like 'r' and 'L'. The Hausas also have theirs. But in this particular post, the lady in question should be more informed. It's a shame. Tell a Yoruba to say this; ''Can her hair earn her an A'', and you'll get my point. |

Sleekbaby: Please I need urgent and clear answer on this. An assignment was given to my niece to complete the following sentences with (a) or (an) and one of the questions is -------------- happy girl. I told her to fill it with (a) but the teacher marked it bad, I wrote on the book and asked if the "H" is silent in happy and she wrote back that it is a vowel. I want to go there tomorrow but I want different views on it first. The teacher must be a Yoruba woman. |

Yesterday, I heard of a phone that costs #600k. The first question that came to my mind was:
what will I enjoy from this phone that my Google Pixel won't give?
So I decided to throw this question to the house.
How can you rationally justify spending #600k on a phone?
Thanks. How much did you buy your Google Pixel Phone? |

ArticleBeast: Can you show me where in the bible this is stated? I need a verse not some conjured doctrines. I'm a catholic but I'm not blinded by some doctrines. I base my catholic faith on what is stated in the bible. It is the same way I don't buy into the idea of confession as practiced by the catholic church. My bible say I can access God directly... Stop deceiving yourself, that you were probably born in a catholic home doesn't make you a catholic. From your comment right here, my brother, you are not a practising Catholic. You're just a catholic follower. Go back to your catechism and read the church's teachings on the Eucharist. That you still don't believe in the idea of confession speaks volume. What did Jesus mean when he said to his apostles that "...for those whose sins you forgive they are forgiven"? — that is where the idea of confessing to a priest began. |
