I'd love to say something nice back about Naija tribes, but I don't know much about your tribes because I don't ask people what tribe they are when I 1st meet them. All I'll say is that, the Nigerians I have met in real life have been very hospitable. But I'm not from Naija though.Far from it. |

jennykadry: I have never lived in spain so I cant speak in that regards...but one thing I know for sure is some people are useless. It doesnt matter where they find themselves....they have already set themselves up to fail The grass is always greener on the other side but what some Nigerians fail to appreciate is that it's that way because someone watered it(i,e worked their ass off). And so they set themselves to fail. |

Travel › Re: West African Countries Hate Nigerians? by Bifwoli: 3:41am On Nov 18, 2014 |
benchwest: the bottom line is nigeria as a country; to the developed world we have a very bad reputation and at the same time being recognise as the most intelectual, smart people, and ofcourse a great emerging positive economy in the african continent. for our west africa sister nations:we are tooooooooo smart for them, and this is a big problem for them and us because we overshadow in every sector being good or bad and so therefore we on the news all the time.
so i rest my case be simply saying that most west african jealous us thats a fact but ofcourse some do got love 4 us aswell so it veries. That's exactly what feeds the hate towards Nigerians; to overestimate and over glorify themselves, belittle other Africans, having an impossibly high and unhealthy view of themselves, braggadocio ,narcissism and 419 fraud even when the crumbling Nigerian cities, vast slums of makoko, oshodi and ajegunle,no power, widespread terror, regional insurgency and a huge exodus of Nigerians to other nations -all suggest that Nigerians don't even have their act together. A deep dislike and hate are two different things.I just think Nigerians are disliked -not envied, not hated and not looked up to as models.Nigeria has vast problems and shortcomings which they seem unable to overcome. How could other Africans possibly be jealous of such widespread malaise that even Nigerians run away to other nations in vast numbers? |

Big fancy buildings without quality supporting infrastructure like quality roads, working city services like street cleanup, reliable running water and electricity is just like putting makeup on a monkey.
Why can't you Africans invest in productive things like factories, enhanced agri-business,local production of manufactured goods which make up 90% of African imports and other sectors instead? I bet you most of the fixtures like faucets, electric parts, carpet, and most furnishings for such fancy buildings WILL BE IMPORTED STUFF. |

londoner: I would not say I hate it, but I would not choose to live there.
I just don't think those pics are beautiful. They are just nice.
You must understand, I have seen quite a few cities in my time. Lagos does not feature at all, when I think of beautiful places.
I know that people from Lagos think that it's the law, that everybody should prefer their city. That's just ego imho......in terms of places to live, I would not choose Lag, sorry.
Others love it though, so it's no big deal. Its the Yorubas and their misplaced pride because they feel Lagos is a Yoruba built city.Frankly Lagos ain't all that and they need to quit using it as a tool to look down on other tribes. |

Some west African tribes eat dogs and monkeys and that is very weird and strange culture to us.
Also African-americans (and white americans too) star in filthy Indecency films and call it "entertainment" -that is very weird and strange by judging by our wholesome African culture. If this was African practice we'd be called savages, animals etc. |

Abuja is just rated "sufficient" by the Globalization and World Cities Research council, the very last group(#12) in the index of global rankings. |

Politics › Re: Which African Country Is Nigeria's Best Friend? by Bifwoli: 7:36am On Nov 11, 2014 |
EMEKA1MILLION: In reality, Ghana should be compared to a state in Nigeria. Maybe Lagos or Ibadan.... The country is too tiny to be considered a competition, I hope IMF bails dem out before they start flooding our borders again... Huh? Are you seriously dismissing Ghana,a nation that scores higher than Nigeria on Human Development Index? I'm not Ghanaian, but I know one reason why some Nigerians are disliked :its exactly that tendency to belittle other people and nations. |
Travel › Re: Which Is The Best African Country To Migrate? by Bifwoli: 7:27am On Nov 11, 2014 |
An0nimus: Well said man. Well said.
Its ok for a Nigerian who hasn't travelled out before to defend his country but I think those who have won't do any unnecessary over hyping especially regarding infrastructure and general aesthetics. Heck, Nigerians go to Ghana every time and tell us at home that its paradise. Yes Nigerians not Ghanaians. I've read NLers in other African countries say boldly that we at home don't know how fast the world is moving and are quick to praise where they're currently located.
This now begs the question of Nigerians over hyping Nigeria where they are. Even going by independent sources on other broader measures,Nigeria scores lower in Human Development Index than both Kenya and Ghana. |

Politics › Re: Jonathan: Nigeria Will Join 20 Most Developed Countries By 2020 by Bifwoli: 5:03am On Nov 02, 2014 |
Sammy107d: GDP and GDP growth rate (per capita or absolute) have little to nothing to do with development. For example, we're have Africa's largest GDP and one of the highest growth rates, but we're not in the top 3 most developed. For example, Norway has about equal GDP as Nigeria, and lower than the US, but more developed in most metrics than both.
With extreme visionary leadership, far from what's currently tabled before us, we can probably get close to Libya and maybe Gabon, but that'll be a hard fight.
"The World Bank defines Libya as an 'Upper Middle Income Economy', along with only seven other African countries. Substantial revenues from the energy sector, coupled with a small population, give Libya one of the highest per capita GDPs in Africa. This allowed the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya state to provide an extensive level of social security, particularly in the fields of housing and education."
"In 1998 the budget allocation for education represented 38.2% of Libya's total national budget."
"In 2010, spending on healthcare accounted for 3.88% of the country's GDP. In 2009, there were 18.71 physicians and 66.95 nurses per 10,000 inhabitants. The life expectancy at birth was 74.95 years in 2011, or 72.44 years for males and 77.59 years for females."
But even with the above, Libya has severe problems with unemployment, infrastructure etc.. So Nigeria can probably beat them.. with visionary leadership. Still, that's one out of 100. How do we get to the top 20? A toast to you for an educated and realistic view.So many fools here are mistaking size of GDP for development but in reality that's NOT how it is measured.Even Botswana and Equatorial Guinea are not developed countries even though their per capita GDP is way above Nigeria's.China and Indonesia with gigantic GDP's are NOT regarded as developed nations either. |

Dressing up in Africa is dangerous coz it hides much. Many slum girls dress up but beneath it all there's no character,no values,no knowledge of upper class etiquette,no real talents, little education and a mind that is still programmed to fit the crass behaviour and thinking that makes poverty possible. In short you can't take the slum out of her. |
