Romance › Re: Think Twice About Your Relationship If Your Partner Does Not Have These Three Qu by bigfather(m): 6:03pm On Jun 01, 2017 |
importexpert: When you read some articles online, they give a lot of dos and don’ts about relationships that are bigger than our Nigerian constitution. These codes are so many that trying to keep all of them can turn a full blooded human to a robot. The point is: while some of the dos and don’ts are valid, they are not always necessary. What works in one relationship may not work in another. This results in partial success and partial failure. But some things are so essential that you should not overlook them. They form the core of every true relationship. You may refer to them as the engine a successful relationship. Among a plethora of such things, three qualities stand out the most. If they are present in you and your partners, your relationship will weather any storm irrespective of the do’s and don’ts that have been set by others. You can find them below.
1. Teachable: Webster dictionary defines “teachable” as being ‘able and willing to learn’. This is by far the most vital quality. No matter how horrible your partner may be, if they have this one quality, there is still hope. Nobody enters into a relationship being perfect. We must all have a deficit in one way or the other. The ability to be open to learn and change for the happiness of another person is what counts. If your partner does not know how to show love, how to cook, how to tidy up a home or any other thing but is willing to learn, you have a treasure. Too many people will instead just say “That is the way I am and I can’t change for anybody. Deal with it.” It takes a lot of gut and humility to admit that you are doing something wrong and have the desire to learn to do it right. If your partner is rigid and is not willing to learn, you had better think twice.
2. Devotion: You may substitute this word for “commitment.” Love is easy; commitment is difficult. Love is a feeling that comes and goes; commitment remains whether the feeling is present or not. Devotion is what makes someone want to keep a relationship even it is not convenient. It is what makes a partner continually watch out for the interest of another even when they do not feel like it. It is the quality of sticking to someone no matter the challenges. It is what keeps your partner by your side even if they find someone more attractive than you. You would want a partner that would remain committed to you even when they do not feel they love you. It is from this quality that other things like sacrifice spring up. If you doubt your partner’s commitment to you and your relationship, you should have a second thought. Many dating relationships and marriages crash because one partner did not learn how to be devoted during the ups and down of life.
3. Tolerance: If your partner has a quick temper, there is a problem. If your partner is fond of flaring up at the slightest provocation, your relationship is sitting on a time bomb. You need someone who is tolerant when they see your flaws. You will make mistakes. You will commit unimaginable blunders. You will say things you never mean. You will do things that you never really planned to do. You will hurt your partner even without knowing. If you want to argue the previous statements, you need to come to terms with your humanity. Face the truth: you are not perfect. To err is human. But in all, your partner needs to be someone who can forgive and be accommodating of your flaws. And this is why tolerance is crucial. A successful relationship is one where the partners have mastered the art of forgiveness and tolerance.
In conclusion, you will notice that love does not make the list. The reason is because this list is Reality 101. While love is important, it is not a quality a partner can possess. Rather, it is what is felt between two people and the feeling can be erratic. A durable relationship needs more than just love; it needs more of teachability, commitment, and tolerance.
Do you agree with Me ? Teachable and Tolerance are d biggest attraction for me. |

luvinhubby: You have migrated this your zombieism to a higher pedestal.
Chibok is a semi urban community and not a rural village. Even a higher primary school pupil from schools in those areas communicate in basic English language, talk less of an SS3 student writing WAEC, which is a regional exams set in English language only. Were they supposed to write or have written the ones they wrote in Hausa or Fulfude language? Were they taught Newton's law of gravity and other Physics theories in Hausa also, if so, show me one Physics textbook written in Hausa language. I believe they wrote junior WAEC before they were promoted to SS classes, was that written in Hausa also?
So they forgot how to speak all the English they learnt in school during their 3yrs of 'captivity'? Even a baby will laugh at you ridiculously, do those girls look like people kept in isolation and are looking so healthy and well kept, do they not converse among themselves?

Agriculture › Re: Nigeria Will Start Exporting Yams To Europe In June 2017 – Agric Minister, Ogbeh by bigfather(m): 12:52pm On May 30, 2017 |
Yarnvibes: The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, has said that arrangements had been concluded for the first container of yams to leave the shores of Nigeria for the European continent on the 29th of June this year.
He disclosed this in Abuja during a chat with journalists on the achievements of his Ministry since the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government took over power two years ago.
Ogbeh stated that, within the next two years, Nigeria’s agricultural sector will regain its lost glory at the world stage as a major food producer and exporter.
He noted that apart from yam that will soon be added to the list of farm produce Nigeria exports to the rest of the world, the country was doing well in the exportation of vegetables, beans and cowpeas to India, as well as cashew to Vietnam.
The Minister further said that without the support of Nigerians who heeded the call of President Buhari to take agriculture seriously and shift focus away from oil, the giant strides the country was making in the exportation of farm produce would have been impossible.
He said: “In another two years, we will be back on the world stage where every country had recognized and expected Nigeria to live up to the name – Major Food Producer.
“On the 29th of June this year, the first container of yams will be leaving the shores of Nigeria for UK.
“Yes, we have been dealing with vegetables and a lot of other produce already and we will continue to be selling pulses mainly beans and cowpeas to India.
“We will soon be back exporting cocoa again on a large scale, although we are exporting very little now; and cashew nuts to Vietnam which we intend to start processing here very soon.
“The processed cashew nuts will be exported to Wal-Mart and other major supermarkets across the globe.
“We are on our way. It is just about time.
“The beautiful thing is that Nigerians make me proud. In spite of the trauma they have been through, their response to the call by the President to return to agriculture has been absolutely successful – Young and old, civil servants, military men, journalists, everybody is on his way back to agriculture.
“We only have the challenge, now, of giving them what they need, and we will definitely meet that challenge.”
On the exportation of processed food as against raw farm produce, Ogbeh said that Nigeria had all it takes to effectively play in the international processed food market, stressing that most of what Nigerians ate were already processed foods.
He however said that procurement of machineries, stable electricity, and sudden drop in the value of Naira are some of the challenges that need to be surmounted before the country can play effectively in the processed food market globally?
“We have to process what we grow. There are very few things we eat raw especially vegetables and fruits. But rice, sugar, milk, sorghum, millet, cassava – among those items; we are almost there.
“Nigerians may find that difficult to accept now because the prices are so high and that can be explained by the sudden drop in the value of the Naira. Machineries need to be procured. We need to stabilize electricity otherwise the cost of production and processing gets too high.
“Otherwise, there is no question whether Nigeria can or will get there. It is just a matter of time.
“Unfortunately, for agriculture once a country slows down like we did for nearly 30 years, it becomes difficult to restart the engine.
“But for Nigeria, the people are incredible and they are doing it. It took Brazil 30 years and India 50 years to be able to get to where they are now. It won’t take us that long.
“In 10 years, I tell you, people across planet earth who want to respect Nigeria on agriculture will definitely have to do so; because they have no choice. We are on our way.”

lekanolas: A prominent member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos is feared dead.
Rasaq Bello, popularly called Hamburger, was shot on Monday in the Shogunle area of Lagos during the local council primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was shot by members of a rival gang led by Samson Agbetoye, popularly called Golden.
Golden belongs to the MC Olumo faction of the NURTW in the state.
Bounce News gathered that trouble started shortly after the council primary in the Shogunle ward was abruptly aborted after members protested the modalities for the conduct of the exercise.
The exercise was held at the Shogunle Town Hall.
It was furthered gathered that Hamburger and his group later stormed the base of Golden in Ago Owu street. Both camps exchanged gun shots. One of the shots hit Hamburger and was ferried away from the scene of the incident by his supporters.
The bloody incident has forced residents of Owode Street and environs to flee their homes over fears of a reprisal attack.
Lagos State police command spokesperson, said he has not been briefed on the matter.
Hamburger is the Lagos State Treasurer of Tricycle Operators, a branch of NURTW.
He was recently installed as the Akinrogun of Shogunle.

Nairaland General › Re: Snakes Killed By My Dad And I (Black Spitting Cobra & Ball Python) by bigfather(m): 6:01pm On May 29, 2017 |
Jakumo: A Swiss man I know was nearly blinded for life, after attempting to add a spitting cobra to his snake collection while he lived in Nigeria. Milk was hastily poured into his eyes, and after about a week, he was able to see again. Were it not for that quick remedy, that would have been the end of the man's eyesight, for good.
On another occasion, when the only weapon handy was a pellet-firing air-gun, I shot and missed several times at a cobra that "returned fire" by spitting repeatedly at me from its hiding spot in the rafters of a chicken coop, in Nigeria. The spit comes out not as a wad, like human spit, but as a continuous stream, akin to the water pistols children play with on hot days, and the accurate range of the acid stream varies from 10 to 15 feet, depending on the size of the cobra.
Every single one of those black cobras indigenous to Nigeria, and bearing those distinctive red or yellowish bands on the underside of the neck can and will spit when threatened. There is no such thing as a black cobra in Nigeria that does not spit. They all do, and they can fire from any position, rather than just when they rear up and spread that hood around then neck area. UGLY SLIMY DEVIL ! |

I have seen a documentary on it ...its a highly venomous snake and can cause death within 30 minutes I think. it also like targeting the human eyes ...has a very good accuracy sort of. [/quote Funny enough , there are less poisonous snakes than the non-poisonous ones but who get time to dey check if dem dey poisonous or not ? i just hate dem with passion ! |
Nairaland General › Re: Snakes Killed By My Dad And I (Black Spitting Cobra & Ball Python) by bigfather(m): 2:31pm On May 29, 2017 |
Jakumo: The black snake with red coloration on the neck are is the highly aggressive spitting cobra, which can spew acid with precise accuracy into the eyes of a person standing up to 10 feet away. I generally shoot those on sight, when our paths cross while I am hunting in the bush.
The brown snake with the beautiful patterns is a totally harmless ball python, of the type that has historically been domesticated in some villages in Igbo-land, where the serpents are regarded as ancestral spirits, and are in fact accorded respectful burials if found dead of natural causes. In a symbiotic exchange of benefits, the domesticated ball pythons of Igboland do a great job of keeping the population of domestic rats down, by eating them on sight.
I have never killed a ball python in all my years of seeing them in the wild, and I never will. This species of python is pefectly safe around human dwellings, and entirely non-aggressive, such that when touched, they will curl up into a tight ball, hiding their head in the middle much like a tortoise, hence the species common name - Ball Python. you are very correct |

chygoz3: We got some local chickens roaming about in our compound. Yesterday morning, we woke up to find that one of the hens which was incubating some eggs was squatting somewhere else and did not attempt to move when we go near it. Also, the eggs which were eight in number the previous day had reduced by 3. We concluded that a snake must have attacked the hen and swallowed the eggs. The eggs were laid in a place which has wood and some bags packed beside. We started removing the items there one after the other and the first snake, the python was sighted. It was snuffed out using petrol and killed using an iron pipe. Feeling that the snakes could be more than one, we started searching for another and found it almost immediately. The black one wanted to escape through a place which we had earlier covered using a piece of aluminium roofing sheet. While the snake was just next to a wall, my dad held it to the wall using a longer iron pipe while I hit its head using a shorter iron pipe.
Pictures are attached.
P.S. We don't eat snakes for those that'll ask for pictures of soup/stew cooked with them. ewwwww......i so much hate snakes ! But una compound near forest ni ? |

The church building and chaplain's residency were built by the state Government. So technically speaking the chaplain was an appointee of lagos State Government. There is nothing different between the chaplain and KAI administrator or LASTMA commander, or LAMATA MD except job description. What the Chaplain did was a complete breach of protocol , which is a grieveous offence in civil service administration. Without protocol, there will be a complete break down in hierachy, law and order and perfidy will reign supreme. When you appoint people from outside civil service ,this kind of anomally manifest. joshkiddies: A KAI official (Kick Against Indiscipline ), Moshood Ayeni, lost his life after angry hawkers who reacted to the arrest of their mates Jeremiah Nnana and Orich Nwofokoh who displayed their wares in traffic, stoned the deceased and his team at Iyana-Oworo area of Lagos.
In the press statement released by the agency’s spokesperson, Alabi Rahmat, it was gathered that the mob pelted the KAI official vehicle with stones, one of which hit the deceased and fell him from the moving vehicle.
“The enforcement officials were returning from an assignment when they saw the traders and tried to do their jobs. They saw the traders hawking in traffic by Car Wash and arrested Jeremiah Nnana and Orich Nwofokoh both selling sausage and phone accessories. The suspects were taken into the agency’s vehicle marked KRD643DS. Suddenly their colleagues, who had escaped came back and pelted the officials with stones. The hawkers started shouting and calling the KAI officials thief. The stones thrown by the rampaging hawkers hit the victim on his head inside the vehicle and he fell down and became unconscious” she said.
She further disclosed that the victim was rushed to the state’s emergency centre, where he was referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) but was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to The Nation, KAI’s Marshal General, Jimoh Amusat, also condemned the act, noting that the deceased was only doing his lawful duty.
