donnie: This long green snake was just killed on my farm after it was uncovered from under some baskets by the wall of the piggery with some fowl eggs. Upon sighting us, it opened its mouth in attack mode.
This is actually among the smallest of the snakes we've killed on the farm. Besides I'm told they don't eat this one if not, by now they'd be scaling the reptile.
I recall the last snake we killed, a very huge brown one. Before I could say jack, the snake was in a pot of porridge. They say that specie (the male) barks like a dog at night and has a very deadly bite. When the female gets old, it climbs up a tree, and falls to the ground and dies, then the baby snakes come out of it's broken body in different colours. Who's heard of this snake before?? Tragedy struck in the Ajuwon area of Lagos State on Wednesday May 17, at Bada Hospital at Bale road, when a young lady said to be in her late 20's committed suicide by drinking sniper insecticide.
The lady, identified as Patience Akpan, was said to have left her father's place that Wednesday afternoon before she was seen in another street within the area wringing in pains, with the sniper bottle still in her hands.
Her dad is said to be a driver who works with a bank on Ajuwon/Akute road.
According to an eye witness, on the day of her suicide, Patience was seen on Oni Street around Ajuwon, on the floor and in pains before she was rushed to the hospital where she later died.
She had lived in the area with her parents about 12 years ago but when her parents separated, she left with her mum, only to come back that Tuesday and committed suicide the next day.

aminulive: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 arraigned the duo of Buhari Fannami and Ba-Kura Abdullahi on two separate one-count charges before Justice M. T Salihu of the Federal High Court Maiduguri, for allegedly giving false information to the agency under the whistleblowing policy.
Fannamit had misled the EFCC with the information about illegally acquired monies purportedly buried at the residence of one Ba’a Lawan but the information turned out to be false after the execution of a search warrant.
The charges read:
“That you, Buhari Fannami on or about the 8th day of May, 2017 at Maiduguri, Borno State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did make statement to Officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission under the Whistle Blowing policy to the effect that large sums of money being the proceeds of crime were buried in the residence Ba’a Lawan at Pompomari Layout along Pompomari Bypass, Maiduguri which information/statement you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under sections 39 (2) (a) and 39 (2) (b) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004 respectively”.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge. Counsel for the prosecution Alkassim Ja’afar asked for a trial date and prayed the court to remand the accused person in the prison custody pending trial. Justice Salihu adjourned the matter to June 7 and 8, 2017 for hearing and ordered the accused to be remanded in the prison custody.
On his part, Ba-Kura Abdullahi also gave false information to the effect that large sum of money in naira and foreign currencies were buried in the residence of Ba’a Lawan.
