a4cube: My enquiry was from their website, I filled the contact form but no one contacted me back. While researching for the biz model I found this on punch https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/gigm-unveils-enterprise-partner-model/%3famp=1.
Maybe I will send my manager to their Ajah office when things get to near normal.
I have also enquired from Plenty Waka, they give 100k every month for sienna. All bill on them. That's 25k a week for a sienna, plentywaka has got 14 seaters too. GIG is actually divesting heavily into logistics now, they are having a shift in focus, their transport branch hasn't been doing too well since late last year. I actually get a lot of business from them for their Benin route. They usually have spill over passengers that they require us to move for them, also they haven't invested in new vehicles lately. The brother owns ecobus and they are not doing badly, maybe he doesn't want to be in direct competition with his brother. |

a4cube: I have enquired with GIG, they require partners to start with 3 cars(Siena, Hummer Bus or any one they accept). That is like start with 6-7 million naira. Pls how much do you think they will return every week with 3 Siena? Since you enquired, they should have told you and they take the venza sienna only not the 04- 10 model. That's about 5M for 1. |

izzou: Of course it's possible
That's why when you want to choose a driver, choose one that has experience, not just in handling cars, but in the business too. It's only an experienced driver that will know authorities in garages, know how to meet up with trips even when he arrives late, or is behind in the queue. A driver's experience is very vital in this option. I know a particular guy that picks drivers with 7 years and above experience to drive his Siennas
As for partnering with known brands, It's a safe way to play. But it's cost intensive from the start. Some of them have specific requirements for their vehicles. I think GIG requires brand new or a specific model upwards. ABC transport don't accept Siennas, only 14 seaters and 54 seaters. Better oyel dey yah head!! The reason many have failed in transportation is that many of us only see the small picture of returns without seeing the bigger picture of what will and must go into it. A lot goes in my broda, you have to have multiple personalities to run transport in naija. Gentle man, agbero, tout, mumu, good family man even lover boy Some were already arguing about the 30k offer, it's easier to make more if u are ready to work your arse up and manage urself or even drive urself but if it's been managed for you,u should not expect as much. Sometimes you might even need to blow the vehicle back to Lagos without full passengers or any at all just to pick up a booked charter. The advantage for us is we don't tie a vehicle or driver down to one route. If a driver arrived Benin and it's not certain he will return to Lagos the following day, I will transmit him to Asaba or Warri and he can cone back same day to take his turn in Benin. We usually don't go to PH or the east but if I have anyone going that way,I pick and transload you at Warri or ughelli if PH or Bayelsa and head bridge or upper iweka if east or Calabar or uyo. If you are someone who is calculative as I learnt from e hailing, you will make it in interstate transportation. |

suco01: The 2trip in a day I am talking is to and fro, that was the reason I said I didn't quote you in the first place. I have no business in those who run night to beat lockdown or not. Abuja or not, Banin/Asaba or not. All I am saying is I am talking to mayor555 not you, so stop quoting me. You should be able to get that. shalom Whichever way you see it,all opinions and criticism are welcome sir. I am equally very critical and hands on person and not desk and table operator. |

suco01: Not disputing your idea and I don't think I even quote you, I did Lagos to Ibadan for good 1year with my sienna from my experience you cant take a 2 trip in a day sometimes to see a trip will be with tussle. No park in Lagos will leave garage chairman and secretary car on queue for you to load. they can promise you heaven and Earth, watery deal this and that, go deep into it and you will know how it goes. But I never dispute your idea and not against it. Starting from somewhere is not a bad idea and I support you
Talking of mayor555 saying Going from lagos to Akure/Ado to and fro can be achieved a day. that one is a blatant lie unless you are taking from Lagos park to Akure/Ado while doing soole as return leg and you know what that means I equally never said it was possible to run 2 trips a day and i don't think anyone here has said anything of such. About Unions and parks, sir the Eastern and south south routes do not usually operate same way as the south west does. You can easily go and fact check yourself. I have slept in several parks and mingled with several owners and drivers while understudying the trade.Ojota,Ajah,Iyana ipaja, mile 2,ikorodu,iyaro,uselu,Asaba toll gate, otovwhodo park ugelli, ubima, waterline, choba, airport junction Warri, enerhen junction etc However a driver can go to Benin or Asaba and come back same day, if you run night which many are doing now cos they are trying to beat the lockdown. Though I don't have any vehicle on the road at the moment cos of the lockdown but I tell u,if you want to go to Abuja now now, there are people who will take you. |

suco01: Exactly. Even garage chairman and secretary wey their sienna just enter garage and person sienna don dey on queue over 7hours will load before someone load. that his research is quack to me Oga!! We re speaking facts here sir and not just picking up stuffs as we go. The park we use, nothing of such and regardless of such happening in other parks, you will still surely get by. We want partners to start earning immediately that's why we don't want to use the excuse of starting a new park, that's not easy at all. You need to use existing parks by registering with them so you are high up the pecking order |

Carshopper: 30k weekly for this regions is low sha... if u had said for ado Ekiti and akure maybe It depends on the business model you adopt, HP, rental, delivery, logistics. It all depends, however that's what we offer and of course we can always work things out with our partners. |

Mayor555: @bigleaf1006
I no wan put mouth before but then comparing interstate travels(as far as Warri, PH) and uber is wrong in my own opinion.
It's an area of interest for me and I've been doing some work on it, I've interviewed managements and drivers. 30k is low remittance.
Having studied Lagos to Akure and Ado route, a sienna would net(after expenses deduction), more than 30k in one and half tour(i.e to - fro and one to). Going to and fro everyday can be achieved on these routes. That's why I said 30k remittance a week is low, and to top it, 50-50 maintenance ah! It's not possible to have daily trips on this routes, it's absolutely impossible when you are not GIG or GUO. Max you get is 3 round trips a week if you are lucky. Forget what anyone tells you,it's what it is. I already have undestudied and done this for a year now. Talking about mileage, a round trip LAGOS- BENIN is about 570 km to fro, Ajah to iyaro and back.fares for this trip average is 4,000 to 4,500, Warri or Asaba 5,000 to 5,500 per seat for 7 there are several operational costs built into these figures. This are even premium fares for lekki Ajah axis, other parts of Lagos are lower. There is also winter and summer months as in every other business. Pls remember this minivans are 6 plugs with bigger 3.3 or 3.5 liter engines and doing those distances is far better for their engines than running intra city. Talking about risks, There are risks everywhere sir ,even in your bedroom as you sleep,I need not say more. All vehicles must be comprehensively insured and we adhere to best safety practices with our drivers and vehicles. We are going to be working with one of the trusted auto workshops that we all are familiar with on this forum so as to have proper maintenance schedule and records. Considering you are not involved with the day to day and we are guaranteeing your weekly pay,I think this offer isn't bad. |

kodred: You want to use my car to run interstate and pay me 30k weekly, and still split maintenance? You have mind. Oga!! You can make your own findings in the market, that's the prevailing rates and we are offering something different for our stakeholders. An 04/05 sienna is about same cost as a Corolla, juxtapose our offer with what you are getting presently from your Corolla. We have done our analysis and can confirm to you that both will have same demurage indices |

Of course you can't compare a minivan with 3.5 liter, 6 plugs with a 1.8 Corolla or 2.4 Camry 4 plugs. I am going interstate, if you have one we can talk business, there's room for everyone. nitigriti: Every staff is salaried where I work.
And insensitive or not, it is not right for anyone to expect payment for work that he or she did not do. According to your story, nobody was expecting salary, but your boss probably felt it would be appropriate to help. We're you certain he wanted to pay the full salaries or a part just to sustain his staff and keep them in good shape. Yeah!! It's best to do right, that much I agree, however I think you were a little to extreme in your call to duty. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Bigleaf1006: 10:20am On May 05, 2020 |
nitigriti: So the moral of my two stories is this: Don't take whatever doesn't belong to you.
If my employer was naive enough to the point of thinking he had a responsibility to pay staff who didn't work in April salary from business that never happened in April, then I, as his COO, is duty-bound to set him right. And I'm proud I did just that.
Now, if he decides, of his own freewill, to gift his staff their April salaries, then I'm cool with it.
Even for my car owner (in my second narrative), I was not willing to pay him for what the car never earned. We signed a rental agreement to use the car for e-hailing purposes and to remit a rent from the earnings thereof. The moment it became impossible for the car to earn the agreed rental, despite working 70 hours + in the week (clause also in the agreement), I had the right to call a 'force majeure,' which I did.
Concluding, this is not about morals. This is about doing right no matter its cost. I regularly encounter these situations of temptations and I regularly resist them. And my life has been better for it too. The circumstances are different, I don't know what your engagement contracts or terms are between your employer and his employees, if they were wage earners or salaried. For the former, decision to pay or not could be at Management's whim but for the latter you are obliged to pay or at worst negotiate. The car rental analogy, for as long as you are in pocession of the car, u must pay the rental and if you are unable to for any reason,u should drop the car except your partner allows you hold on to it.. Your partner applied discretion and chose to be magnanimous, he could have as well rescheduled your payment to a future date thereby having you in arrears while you on the other hand utterly chose to be downright insensitive to your workers plight. |

nitigriti: Something weird happened today at work. My boss calls me and says, "Deji, please prepare the payroll for April; let's pay the staff their salary."
I was dumbfounded for a few seconds. My boss notices that I'm acting confused. He asks me what's wrong.
Me: "Sir, we are not paying April salary. The business didn't open. No member of staff came to work."
My boss stared at me, not believing himself. "Are you sure, Deji?"
Me: "Very sure, sir."
