Good morning hustlers. Sorry I haven't been here for a while. Have been carried away by the sweetness and bitterness of the hustle in Abuja. Hope everyone is good and safe this period.

Please, can any Pilot Drive a rider from Lagos to Bayelsa? It's a drop off and you have to decide on how you will be able to cover for security check points, but the rider is ready to pay for any arrangements you make which will be included on your bill.

Please indicate if interested.
Let's do this!! Where for Bayelsa, yenagoa, sagbama, kolokuma or brass?

In seeing linkages and bushings.

Okay. Next question. What cars do you drive and how many years on average so you see yourselves using those cars?
Toyota Camry 06, looking to change to a minivan anytime soon. Toyota sienna or Honda Odyssey.

I think average car on e hailing should be able to do 3yrs or 4 if well managed.

You should at least have a relative or a friend you can put up with pending when u sort urself out.

This period isn't advisable considering the curfew being imposed by the government. There isn't much happening right now cos of coro.

But if it's too be a rolling Stone that you seek or some adventure.Don't let people scare you though,Lagos isn't as dangerous as people claim. There are several places around lekki and vi where u can roll over in your car, there are equally places that never sleeps like ikeja, some parts of festac, unilag, sabo yaba, igbosere on Lagos island etc.

You only need to avoid dark spots and stay where you have people around and properly lit at night, lock yourself in and make sure you don't roam about, cos that can be really dangerous.

Most gas stations and car washes have bathrooms where you can freshen up and there is food everywhere that you can buy

Out to see things myself. At Allen avenue at the moment, traffic is light with a few lastma on the road, haven't seen any police all the way from Ogba.

2 trips already with no air conditioning at all, rider must use sanitiser before entering car.

Banks are so over crowded, wonder why!!

Very few commercial buses also, day still feels like a public holiday!!

Things still need to be observed this period and I am happy this is happening, cos we need to desaturate the market, however I am very upbeat about the prospects

True earnings will never be revealed by a driver partner.. most will not work on d app. So many things to consider
Better oyel dey your head!! drivers will always want to force the hand of the partner to adjust. Goverment only gave a 2 weeks observation period and you all are already wanting rentals slashed by partners. Drivers making the rental fees isn't the problem but the percentage of driver earnings will be worst hit and that's their fears.

Many partners borrowed monies and are also paying instalments to banks, many borrowed from friends and family, many wiped out their savings with a projected timeline to recoup.

The market will definitely determine appropriate fees, I really think it's unnecessary for people to want to jump the gun.I would rather advise those planning to enter the market or getting additional cars or taking HP contracts to hold on but for those of us already in should see it out.

I am sorry I might sound a bit unpleasant, but we need to all see this as what it is, Business!! and not some kind of government grant!!

Good morning guys, I guess it's time we report to the Mods anyone that comes here to derail the thread again or we just ignore the person totally.

My Uber docs ( insurance expires in 3weeks, inspection has already expired) I dont even know if Uber inspection locations will be opened on monday. If you see anyone opened on the island pls mention me.

We are resuming on the 8th, so I have one week to test the waters again before my driver/partner comes to pick the car.

I think this week work will give a better understanding to know the right or reasonable weekly fare. Car owners should take note.

30k/25k weekly is impossible at this time let's not deceive ourselves.
A week would not be enough to judge, especially not this coming week,as there would be lots of flunctuations and variables at play

Things are not the way they used to be and you expect rental to still be the same ?
15 to 18k would be fine for now.
I so much love evening and night work.
I love seeing few cars on the road at night, no plenty lastma and police. You can get away with some mistakes at night and can also commit some deliberately just for the fun of it.
Lekki flats have always been premium even when majority could not afford them, did the owners reduce rent? No

Central Lagos appartments have always been on the highside, have they all been empty? No

Air plane tickets have always been sold out despite many not being able to afford them locally, did airlines slash fares? No

The market will sell it self and transport business has always been a seller's market and not a buyer's one. Transportation is a need and not a want.

Unpopular Opinion
Drivers get the better end of the partnership (financially), so they should sacrifice a bit now. I think rentals should remain the same (for now), if the situation keeps declining, then a review would definitely be in order.
Exactly!!

Hmm... Keeping rental fees the same MIGHT be bad for both the owner and the driver.

The driver would most likely not be able to meet up his target which may lead to defaulting in payments and other stories.

For the car owner, wise drivers might just drop the cars which might lead to loss of revenue no matter how small.

As mentioned earlier, closing time would now be anytime before 8pm, no schools, churches, mosques and the likes, so fewer people going out. Most organisations like mine are going to be working in shifts as against what was obtained.

In the end, for those who must drive and are on rentals, the car owners should try to be reasonable and flexible till things get back to normal. A 40% reduction in rental fees would not be a bad idea. Anything short of that would be sheer slavery on the part of the drivers.
Yes I agree things could be tight for a while, however transportation sector is often one of the least hit sectors even in a recession after food.

It's going to be a win win at the end, cos market had been saturated before now and things need to shake up a little to achieve equilibrium, some would stay and some would def leave.

If the law on over crowding in commercial buses can be enforced,I see transport prices in that segment going up, cos the driver's need to make up for the unoccupied capacity hence people turning to e hailing, commercial buses will be worst hit.

Even with the lockdown, private cars could move around more easily than the buses.

If drivers could survive winter months,I don't see them not surviving this.

You actually beat me to this, I can beat my chest and say shame on all who allowed all this nuisance to thrive here. If she/he constitute nuisance, barking back at her does not make you sane.

Am ashamed of the stakeholders here, this thread is meant to be informative, about your experience on being Uber/Taxify driver in Lagos and not some sort of politics, sport, insults, childish talks etc.

There are so many people (Investors, Drivers, Riders, Partners etc) not limited to Lagos that comes here to learn one or two things and you guys are making it so difficult for them to gain anything with your recent nonsense post that litters the thread.

Most of you claimed you are CEO'S, Father's, mother's, elders and the likes and I begin to ask myself is this the traits you display to your staffs, children, wife's, friends and family or is it AUDIO?

I read alot and I can tell you guys I take my time to read some threads I find informative on nairaland and some has help one way or the other in shaping my vision/goals/aim and so far have read like 1000pages of this thread majorly the first 300pages and the last 700pages. I can tell you have learnt so many things and it has guided me and have shared same thread with some of my friends that we plan investing in this Uber/Taxify stuff.

Now I see why Gazzuzz at a time said he is done with this thread, he only comes here to chip one or two things and is off same with the likes of Angryigboman, luxurydriverng etc.

You can't go to Travel/Autos/Technology/Properties section (at least am active in this sections and I know how it runs) and start derailing any of the thread with nonsense post such as the ones that has made the last 700pages of this thread without you being reported to the mod by the active members of the thread. This takes me back to while I said am ashamed of the stakeholders here because they have allowed themselves to be drag in the mud. Imagine IZZOU telling a new user to read the last 500pages of this thread angry but the good thing is, he will never advise you to read these pages full of rubbish though he has join the bad gang cry

Please, you guys should stop all this nonsense and go back to what the thread is known for, if you don't have anything to say regarding the topic, stay quiet or go elsewhere to argue your points. They are so many sections here that you can do that and is not a must you must say something, there are so many guests members viewing with most not having an account....so, do us the honor by keeping quiet.

You want to Argue about how USA is better to Nigeria? Go to Politics/Travel section and argue your points.

You want to argue about sport? Go to sport section, I believe there are so many members that will welcome you there.

You want to argue how you are better off to the next person? Do that by getting your name on Forbes

You want to insult someone's father, mother, families? I don't even know where to tell you to go but obviously nairaland is not for you. So, you can deactivate your account and look for where they do that undecided

My Opinion!!!
Nah lockdown dey cos am!! grin

If you have anything reasonable or of importance to say,I do not think anyone stops anyone.

Why must anyone wait for anyone to start anything.

This is an important thread to many of us and many needs to get their minds off the depressing Covid-19 realities out there.

There is no altruism in politics also there is no altruism in being a revolutionary. Many were motivated because they thought they are superior than the commoners.

Revolutionaires are all fighting to gain control, to impress their supporters and followers also to also boast their ego, human motivation is basically run by self interest, what will I gain? How will it benefit me?

Che, luther and the rest were not selfless, if they were selfless, they won't be in the struggle.

You can't be in the business of creating change and be selfless.
A collective struggle often throws up it's leaders, leaders are often not sure born but made.

No struggle has self originated from a single individual. The circumstances that brought about the struggle at the time determines how leaders are made.

Selflessness is a gift not too common in everyone or place or time, but there are and there has always been selfless genuinely altruistic leaders.

Julius Nyerere, kenneth Kaunda,Kwame Nkruma,Nelson Mandela, mohatma ghandi ,Chairman Mao, Jesus Christ to mention a few. History is replete with several of them

being selfless as a everyday behavior is different.

revolutionaries arent fighting a selfless fight, many are actually sponsored or are tools used by an opposition idea to achieve a political goal.

revolutionaries are just playing the political game
What then is politics? Politics is a continuous conflict of interest on how to control and allocate resources for the propagation and sustenance of the overriding interest.

Politics is just a means to an end. Selflessness or altruism is also an interest in itself. How you achieve it doesn't matter.

there is nothing like selfless revolutionaries, every revolutionary leader is fighting for a reward at the end of the day.
Then it's safe to say you have never done any selfless deed all your life?
We can as well delete the word "selfless" from the dictionary and human existence forever.

@ Bigleaf1006:

In 1833 Tinabu remarried Adele, an exiled oba (king) of Lagos. With this marriage she began to accumulate economic and political power. The two moved to the coastal city of Badagry, where Tinabu, using her husband’s connections, built a successful business empire trading salt and tobacco from Europeans for slaves from Abeokuta.

Tinubu fell from power in Lagos when she challenged British Consul Benjamin Campbell who railed against her economic hegemony and secret slave trading with Europeans and Brazilians. Tinubu in turn publicly castigated Campbell for his infringement on royal authority and sovereignty in Lagos. She organized a plot to remove Consul Campbell but before it could be implemented, Campbell confronted her with British gunboats in May of 1856 and demanded her exile from Lagos.
I think the bolded part further confirms my point about her standing against the British overbearing interest in trade and African socio political affairs. She was no lackey, even the great Jaja of opobo was averse to then British control of Africa.

You can apply any interpretation as you deem fit but does not in anyway void the fact she was a strong influence in then Lagos socio political affairs.

I think it's appropriate to always reference your sources.

Haha Haha.

When I said the other day that doctors are scam a lot of people called for my head.

I once had two riders few weeks before the pandemic you needed to hear the fraudulent discussion these man and woman where having.

A patient is admitted in a general hospital only for the doctor to refer the patient to a private hospital in the name of specialist hospital knowing fully well that what the patient has is a touch and go sickness.

The private hospital sucks the he'll out of the patient and family simply because they know tje patient is wealthy and ready to do anything to live further. When they have eaten enough the patient finally dies after spending millions of naira.

The doctor that refers the patient to the private hospital goes home with 10% of what ever that was paid in the private hospital.

Now the disagreement they were going for was because the owner of the private hospital wasnt transparent in the total amount tje faily9of the deases paid.

Its a norm among most doctors.

Doctors? They pretend to save life But have an interior motive to suck a wealthy family dry.

Appologies if my post offends anyone but the truth needs to be exposed.

Madam Tinubu, what protest did she carry out? She was protesting because the British stopped slavery and it affected her business.

Most of these women you mentioned except madam tinubu were fighting for issues that concerned women.
I would rather say that's quite a pedestrian depiction of her person. She stood against British over bearing influence on trade at the time, though she was a slave trader.

COVID Numbers is scam!
Isolated case? No.
This goes in almost every COVID state. The reported case in Anambra state was also scam, Kano deaths are not from COVID, they all want money. It's time to open up the economy fully!

Over the weekend, Friday to be precise.

My neighbor's son sustained a head injury while playing with his fellow kids and was rushed to the general hospital in my area here.

The little boy wasn't sick o.
Just a head injury that happened in my presence while we were outside discussing.

On Sunday, I went to check on the boy to see how he was doing, he was already playing with other kids though his head is still bandaged.

I started talking with his mom and she told me what now seems to be the new trend as regards Covid-19 in Nigeria.

She showed me the receipt issued to her by the hospital.
It was marked Covid-19, case 353.

I was surprised to see that.

She said when she saw the receipt, she asked the nurse what was the meaning of that?
That her son isn't a Covid-19 patient.

The nurse told her not to worry, that it means nothing.
That she was only doing what was required of her.
So she shouldn't worry.

According to the woman, she was still worried seeing that on her receipt but the nurse further reassured her and told her that if she doesn't do that, she could be issued a query. Wow!

What this means is that, according the receipt, the boy is case 353 treated and discharged.

Can you imagine that?!

That is possibly the new trend now at government hospitals.

Once you're sick and visits a government hospital, you're a Covid-19 patient.

If she hadn't shown me that receipt, I wouldn't have believed what she told me yesterday.

And you keep wondering why we can't see common pictures of patients in the isolation centers. Common pictures o.

All we see everyday are numbers upon numbers.

Let me leave it here for now.
