Good stuff. This is well detailed. Now the process of securing is a bit complex and suffers delays especially when the employer is sponsoring for the first time (which we don't know for certain if they had been sponsoring others before you). Regarding the reporting manager's question, it might not be directed to you if the HR is copied in but understand the circumstances you should be the one disturbing him about your visa. You should also let them know you are not resident in the UK. Appears you may have told them you are in the UK during the application process unknowingly or they misread that but by and large they sponsor folks from Nigeria so yours shouldn't be an issue but the thing is it takes a while to get things done. From the timeline, that process is currently on-going so be patient. taalas: This is my timeline..pls advise
The email is from my potential sponsor(soon to be manager)
I have left the UK after my studies in 2011
I currently live in Nigeria
I applied for the job and got interviewed in January,
The HR called and sent me email that I was successful but that I should wait, the company will look into my sponsorship that it is a robust process and its been managed independently
The conditional offer came in May
I did pre employment checks from May to July
Completed the AccessNI in July with proof of address and ID checks
The HR said they will change my shift to night shift to enable my salary per hour be eligible to the sponsorship criteria, I agreed
By August ending my soon to be manager asked my to furnish her with my UK address and Visa and Passport copies to send for my sponsorship
I told to her that I am in Nigeria and dont have any valid UK visa or address except when I was a student in 2011, she said she has submitted my documents to the sponsorship team and will get back to me as soon as she hear back
From August til September 22nd the HR kept on sending me updates that my sponsorship application is still in progress
I was surprised to get an email stating "potential sponsorship query from my soon to be manager asking for visa and passport copies..
Can anyone guide me through please on what to do or how to respond
Thanks |

Can you calm down and explain carefully what the embolden are all about? One minute you are talking about employer wanting to sponsor you. Next minute you are in Nigeria and further again... You've only been in the UK 2011 for studies... Question is where are you and what is your employment status where you are 🤷🏿♀️ taalas: Elders pls help out here
I got an email from my employer this evening with subject'Potential sponsorship query'
please see below, regarding further information that is required for a potential sponsorship: Copy of visa, All pages of passport copies pls.
This is care worker role and I am currently in Nigeria and I had only been to UK in 2011 for studies.. This is 5months after holding a conditional offer and 1 month after sponsorship application . How do I respond urgently? |

Sad, but you can reject that offer and negotiate higher. Let her know that you re worth the higher band based on your past experience in the same role. Most HRs are like that they want you to negotiate and if you don't ....the better for them. babajeje123: Okay so I have experience working in a trust, moving to a higher band in the same role and she's bent on starting me on the lower scale. |

Work experience most times is the reason. At other times, when one is coming into the system newly, you are started off on the lower compared to if you are already an NHS staff for example and you are moving across to the new role you will be started on the higher scale. babajeje123: Is salary negotiation not allowed in NHS? I don't understand why HRs would want to see previous payslips and insist on starting you on the lower scale of Band salary. Someone should please make me understand this |

Report this to the HR and put him in copy sunsweet33: My office hired a new manager and as I was standing by the side doing something he came up behind me put his hand on my lower back/waist and asked “how are you doing”. At that moment all my usual fire went out of the window and I just froze up. Actually there were 3 other senior staff around who must have seen it and warned him because thereafter, he only tapped my shoulder or shoulder blades (which I dont have any problem with).
Now a couple of days ago I had my hands full again doing something and this man passed behind me, held both sides of my waist very briefly and brushed against my back.
the whole thing was over in less than 5 seconds and I didn’t even see the person until I turned my head to see him watching me from the other side of the office.
bearing in mind this is a senior boss, I don’t feel I can shout or confront as normal so I have just been giving some stern/cold attitudes and stepping out of the way in a more exaggerated way whenever he passes by me. And he has started reciprocating the awkwardness which made it easier for me.
But how realistic is this? In another thread somebody wrote that his brother tried to get his female colleagues fired for rejecting his advances and I fear something similar may happen to me.
Its so irritating. This guy says he has a girlfriend so why not go home and touch her? WTF. |

Better you stick with the Monzo Flexi Card if it works for you else you are welcome to try AMEX https://americanexpress.com/en-gb/referral/tEMItOWp3J?XL=MNMNS after a while so your credit score does not suffer another hit You can also try Aqua credit cards too. Noworries11: Elders Una remember the other day Argos deny me their card after hard search but after some weeks perhaps a month plus, i got a mail that I am qualified for a different type of card blah blah...
I checked my experian credit score and discover my point is now at 746
Please what can I benefit from this score at this stage? Or should I keep going maybe to earn more score before applying for anything?
I presently do not have any CC except my monzo flexi card (don't know if its fully considered as a cc)
Is the 746 still not enough? For sth maybe mortgage
Many thanks my people |

Oh wow ....thanks for the clarification koonbey: That has lapsed. It was for the Covid Winter period, IIRC.
donplus1 - the landlord has no obligation to extend your rent whether or not you find another place in so far as the term has expired and they've given you notice, which by your narration they've even exceeded.
The landlord cannot come and boot you out immediately but they can initiate eviction proceedings and secure a court order to evict you by force if necessary, and they might also be awarded costs against you, to cover their expenses in initiating the case.
Bear in mind that in the scenario above you'd have destroyed your chance of getting a good reference.
Ultimately, the only thing you can do is to step up your efforts to get a new place, and engage with your landlord to get them to extend you more time. |

You never get you never get be that naaaa ...they can't come and throw out your belongings like they do in Naija. Besides winter is fast approaching, there's a law against a landlord evicting tenants during that period. Let them begin the legal process to evict you. But you need to also step up your effort in getting a place, no go de try use Naija style here oooo donplus1: Good morning everyone
Please I need your opinion on how best to handle my current end of tenancy issue.
I am to vacate my current house 29th September as agreed in the assured shorthold tenancy agreement.
I have been contacted by the lettings on the 25th of June to notify me of the landlord's intention to sell the house hence he's not interested to renew my contract. But unfortunately I have not bee able to secure another apartment due to the current housing crisis. Securing accommodation seems like war these days.
I have been in contact with the lettings and the property coordinator to explain the situation but they insist the landlord doesn't want an extension. The lettings branch office have been trying to help as well but nothing is forthcoming from their end.
How best do you think I can handle this without unnecessary legal tussle?
Elders and experienced bosses, abeg I need your contributions.
Thanks and Regards.

Do you know that you can borrow someone your car or borrowed someone else car by just buying out an insurance (can be daily or weekly), I do use Veygo insurance.
Meanwhile, don’t forget to apply for Civil service job oh,
Been hearing lots of *yes* from friends, family & colleagues recently.
Almost all jobs titles and roles are there and if you don’t have experience don’t worry, just filter for Administrative officer roles (most don’t require experience), just apply for as many as possible.
Very fair recruitment process (infact one of the fairest I’ve ever seen, lol)
Don’t be deterred by writing personal statements |

It's that time of the year when accommodation are choked, 2hioe you wait for a response, better plan towards plan B... Airbnb or hostel. Run a Google search for this and lock this down... E get why! Most likely when you arrive you will find it easy getting accommodation. You can also try Rightmove, Zoopla, Amber Students and other online platforms for student accommodation.
