If the federal Government prompted the increase because they felt oit was priced too cheap in the country compared to other West African countries, they should as well increase fuel price and salaries because Nigeria have the lowest compared to other countries. Nansense angry

OP to be blamed

1. He should have crossed checked to see that the Account Number and Account Name matched that of the person he was to send money to. If he has Internet Banking or any of the Bank's mobile Apps that supports online money transfer, he could easily have done that.

2. He should have complained officially to the bank. The banks have now been cautioned by the CBN into taking actions against fraudulent transactions. All the bank need to do is place a 'No Debit' message on the person's account across all the banks using his BVN. That way, he would have been forced to return your full money.

Exactly! Due to the inadequacies of the government around areas of security and provision of basic amenities, every family now is an employer of labour through the payment of private security guards and provision of their own amenities grin yet we still have to pay tax instead of being exempted from such.

Hahaha ...you're correct! I found out that products that are condemned always sells the most ...maybe out of curiosity. Take Linda Social Media platform, several techies blasted it that it won't last, bla blah ...but its making waves. Look at the Cocumba incident ....many are still looking for the videos grin Big Brother Africa nko ....many would blast the sex scenes but wonder how they saw it ...in their dreams? Now that the stopped BBA many are secretly clamouring for it to come back yet they would blast DSTV for high subscription rate or PHCN for no light but would buy fuel at high cost to watch DSTV all night grin

RaggedyAnn:
Isn't that ironic? After castigating her for wearing the slutty dress they will go and buy the slutty book.

There was an episode of South park where everybody publicly reprimanded the act and agreed not to view the nude video of one of the neighbors which someone had uploaded on the internet. Of course everyone went to watch it and it got like a million views. Instead of admitting they had all watched it, they decided that the million views was proof that aliens must exist. Since it was unthinkable that any of them had condescended to watching it.

There's just too much hypocrisy in this country.

I think I support Kemi ....sorry Aunty Kemi grin on this shaaa. The book is too sex oriented. It will sell though as everything sex in Nigeria sells grin

ObiOmaMu:
Kemi Olunloyo has just blasted Toke Makinwa over the outfit she wore to her On Becoming book launch.

According to Kemi, this Toke Makinwa's dress was "Chrissy Teigen Slutty" and her stylist should be FIRED immediately! Again, young ladies in Nigeria look up to Toke and 90% are already sex workers who have no idea how to secure a decent job like hers.

Read what she wrote below:

Toke Makinwa's dress for a...huh let alone HER OWN book launch is totally inappropriate.

For the kind of year she's had with the disastrous video urging young women to be promiscuous--have a one night stand, kiss a stranger and revelations in this book about Maje Ayida making her do a sex tape, seeing his own sex tape with the mistress and was
pressured to bleach due to low self esteem because Anita the mistress was fair and half Lebanese, she should have dressed more conservative to the event.

I'm sorry Toke, I'm a feminist but keep things real. I have to slut shame you. This dress was "Chrissy Teigen Slutty". You did NOT need the high slit!

Without the slit you would have been a GEM in that outfit. Your stylist should be FIRED immediately! Take lessons from my letter I wrote you earlier this year. Advertisers and sponsors are watching your brand. 2017 has no space for this. Young ladies in Nigeria look up to you and 90% are already sex workers who have no idea how to secure a decent job like yours.

Even fashion crazed Linda Ikeji whom I've ripped for years will not dress like this to her own book or launch event. Good luck on the book. Hopefully this post pushed up the sales. Always focus on the bigger picture. Controversy is good but make it classy not trashy! This dress belongs to the Headies or my cousin Darey's #LLAM red carpet.

You agree with Kemi?

Whether or not the people are there for handouts is inconsequential. That guy was spilling thrash! Not even talking about how much wizkid is making or how he is worth but bluffing about wizkid chilling with international acts. That's totally irrelevant.

That being said, Linda had been a billionaire for several years now. With her blog worth over $2m about 5 years ago. Hers is the most popular blog in Africa too. With millions of followers. Not comparing her to Zukerberg but she's the closest thing to that in Nigeria now.
Celebrities › Re: Linda Ikeji Turns Down $2m Partnership Investment by bigtt76(f): 11:25am On Nov 25, 2016
Buh what s/he said is true naaaa! Majority of the people on the site are there mostly because of her handouts. Of course she can't compete with the likes of Facebook or Whatsapp and others but she can definitely create a niche of followers from Nigeria alone out of a population of 180 Million. I tell you if she's able to get 1 million registered, it would be a great feat. Nairaland is at 1.7million approximately but it took years and of course we have users with multiple accounts grin

Omudia:

Good thing though ....she can actually put a figure to her followership. That's what investors look for in a venture.

Ovokoo:
Linda Ikeji already has huge followers hip and over 100 thousand people have already registered. Which means that LIS has more members than 98% of websites in Nigeria. So, whether it is new or not is a non issue here. If Linda Ikeji says she wants to launch a website in 6 month time, don't be surprised if she starts getting investors before the website kicks off because they know she has a huge following through her blog.

@Embolden ...you would have still tried to lure her out of it angry I understand your situation but I would still try to distract her from it. That has always been my problem with Nigerians (not you though) .....they're happy when others encounter misfortune even when they could have alerted the person to it or help prevent it.

You may be at the bus stop and you drop your money, people will see it and keep quiet cos they want to pick it up and keep or you bought something cheap, they would refuse to tell you the true price so you end up buying higher than they did ....sad though.

NaijaTechGuy:
Some days ago, I decided to get a new phone and I had to choose between buying from Jumia or buying from a shop, I chose the latter as it was going to be more fun.

As a Techie, I'd say buying things from Aba is fun and interesting but you'll have to be really smart. I also had to choose between buying in the Market (Ariaria) or going into the main town. I didn't want a too expensive phone so I placed my budget between 30-40k.

I ended up taking a bus to St Michael's Road, Aba. I walked around the shops, bargaining and I noticed something quite common among the people selling the smartphones.

They always try to make you feel like an inferior device is good. My advice is " no matter what don't listen to them" . Buy what you want and leave.

Something really funny happened at the last shop I went to :
I initially requested for a phone with a battery capacity of 3000maH and above between 30-40k. They brought out an Infinix Note 2. Looking at the device, I was really happy but always remember - you don't judge a book by it's cover. I opened the back of the phone and checked the battery, 4040maH. (quite impressive )

I turned on the phone. The boot transition wasn't too smooth, it seemed like a fake Infinix phone but I decided to investigate thoroughly before concluding.

After the phone finished booting, I opened the app drawer and went through the system apps. The icons looked bigger and lacked quality, unlike the ones in most Infinix phones.I spotted something strange again - Tecno's Boom Player installed on an Infinix Phone. I was shocked. (Chai).

The next discovery gave me a massive blow. I checked the phone's RAM Capacity and to my greatest surprise it was just 218MB while on the pack it was 2GB. I was dumbfounded. At that moment, I realized that if I didn't know anything about smartphones, I would have just bought a fake phone for about 36k and later regret it .(In this recession, it's unfair
nah).

The same fake infinix device I dropped, an unsuspecting lady, unaware of my discovery picked it up and started asking about the price. I shook my head in pity. I always stay out of trouble so i couldn't tell her she was about to buy a fake phone in front of the shop owner.

I decided to overlook the battery capacity and get another phone. I looked around the shop and spotted a TECNO W4 with a 2500maH battery, I went through the phone and everything was okay. I paid for it and left. (I bought the phone for N32,000). On my way out of the shop a guy met me and asked if I wanted to install apps on the phone so I decided to play along.

I asked how much to install WhatsApp and Facebook. The guy told me N500. I laughed and told him not to worry, maybe next time. If only he knew what I was saying in my mind. (hehehe.. You don't know who you're talking to.)
I just took a bus home.

That was quite an adventure . If you're not smart you may end up with a fake phone.
Lesson - If you're not good in detecting good smartphones always go with someone who knows about it. All that glitters is not Gold.

Hmmmmm! I knew it would come to this. Kelechi is too self centered, when he scores, he will just rush first to celebrate before going to thank his mates ....its not good! You have to be grateful to your colleagues for giving you the chance to score. If you don't then they screen you out.

I remember during Pellegrini, he was dragging call with his senior colleague ...Rahim Sterling for a penalty kick to be taken just because he wants to garner the glory. He scored though but then know that being humble matters. Same thing happened to Rashidi Yekini during the USA 94 World Cup, he's always been the top scorer for the team, now at the tournament, it because a battle of who scores first for Nigeria ...again he did BUT he never went to thank the person who passed him the ball. Instead he spent minutes in the opponent's net celebrating. The rest of tournament and subsequent games went sour for him. He was no longer the highest scorer for Nigeria at the tournament.

Look at Messi, Saurez and Neymar ....these guys share goals amongst themselves and are always complementing each other. If Suarez has an open net and Neymar standing close by, he would instead pass the ball to Neymar to score vice versa and it has earned them a laudable friendship.

Health › Re: A 14-Year-Old Girl With Cancer Wins The Right To Have Her Body Frozen by bigtt76(f): 2:31pm On Nov 23, 2016
it’s just the warming him back up again that needs to be figured out.
Make den light hin blokos naaa grin

gabonsky:
A 14-year-old girl has just been granted the right to have her body cryonically frozen in the hope that she will be brought back to life one day.
The teen, from London, was dying from cancer when she took her case to the high court.
"I don’t want to be buried underground. I want to live and live longer and I think that in the future they might find a cure for my cancer and wake me up," she said.

"I want to have this chance. This is my wish."
Cryonics is the practise of preserving a human body in extremely cold temperatures after they die, with the hope of being able to revive them sometime in the future when science has advanced enough.

People who undergo the procedure must be declared legally dead, as it’s illegal to cryonically preserve someone who’s still alive.

However, legally dead is not the same as completely dead. Legal death occurs when the heart has stopped beating, but you’re technically still alive until all brain function ceases.
Cryonics works in this narrow but crucial window, to preserve that tiny amount of cell function that’s still happening.

If you sign up at one facility, the Alcor Life Extension Foundation in Arizona, the protocol consists of four elements: deployment and standby, stabilisation, cryoprotectant perfusion, and cryogenic cool-down.

1. Deployment and standby
You have to be signed up with a cryonics facility before your death, so that the team can be prepared. Decomposition starts happening pretty much immediately, so the window of time for the team to start the preservation process is narrow.

They will still try though. On the Alcor website it states: "it is a general principle of cryonics that cryopreservation should proceed after legal death even under poor biological conditions when standard protocol procedures cannot be performed."

A team is notified of your death and rushes to your side once you’ve passed, and they stabilise your body by supplying your brain with oxygen and blood to preserve minimal function.

2. Stabilisation
After this, you are injected with heparis — an anticoagulant that prevents blood clots — and packed in ice. Your lungs might be ventilated too.

If it will take a long time to be transported to the operating room, your blood may be replaced with an organ preservation solution.

3. Cryoprotectant perfusion
The freezing begins when you reach the cryonics facility. Your body cannot simply be frozen in liquid nitrogen because it would damage your cells. You are around 70 percent water, so if it all froze, your cells would shatter.

Instead, the cryonics team starts a process called vitrification. They remove all the water from your cells and replace it with a chemical mixture of organ preservation and antifreeze chemicals called a cryoprotectant.

In theory, this protects organs and tissues from forming ice crystals and instead are put into a state of suspended animation. It’s the same technique that has dramatically improved the way eggs and embryos are frozen and thawed in fertility treatments.

Vitrification has successfully been used to freeze small pieces of tissue, and scientists even managed to preserve and recover the brain of a rabbit.

However, we’re probably still a long way off from being able to freeze and thaw larger structures, as vitrifying organs such as human kidneys for transplantation has not been done successfully.

4. Cryogenic cooldown
Once vitrified, your body is cooled on a bed of dry ice until it reaches -130 degrees Celsius. Then you’re placed head down in a large metal tank filled with liquid nitrogen at around -196 degrees Celsius.

It costs over £100,000 (US$125,000) to get your whole body cryonically preserved, but for a smaller fee, you can choose just to freeze your brain. This relies on the idea that one day in the future, scientists will be able to grow a clone of your body and you will somehow be revived.

That's still not the end of it though
Nobody has ever been revived from being frozen, because this technology doesn’t exist. It also hasn’t been around enough for everyone who has been preserved to be cured from whatever illness was killing them in the first place.

That being said, medicine has come a long way in that people are often, technically, brought back from the dead. Defibrillators can shock your heart into a regular rhythm again, and in some surgeries, people are cooled down to very low temperatures so doctors can operate on aneurysms.

There’s also the ethical issues to consider about whether a clone grown from your cells would really be 'you' or not. With the brain being such a complex organ, it’s also impossible to know how much damage has been done by the process until you wake them up again.

The biggest problem with revival would be thawing a person the right way at the right speed. If it isn’t done exactly right, your cells could turn to ice and be destroyed.

The first person to be cryonically preserved was 73-year-old James Bedford, who was frozen in 1967. He died of kidney cancer and was frozen a few hours after his death. In the cryonics community, January 12th is celebrated as 'Bedford Day'.

According to Alcor, Bedford’s body is still in a good condition. It’s quite possible that his metastasised cancer would be treatable now if he were revived, it’s just the warming him back up again that needs to be figured out.
