Nigeria has had zip codes (referred to as postcodes) for a while. Its a 6 digit code and you can get the 3 digit prefix for your postal/LG area from the NIPOST website by checking the map http://www.nipost.gov.ng/PostCode.aspx , (or picking postcode finder from the main page) and selecting the state Example is in the NIPOST HQ contact info Nipost Corporate Headquarters, Abubakar Musa Argungu House, Plot 1279 Muhammadu Buhari Way, PMB 12537, Garki 900001, Abuja, Nigeria. A zip code directory was distributed around 2000/2001, (my copy is around somewhere in the house). The system is yet to catch on. NIPOST needs to find a way to make Nigerians aware and use their postcodes, possibly by rejecting letters without the codes, and having the field included in government forms. |

I almost hate that country.[/quote]If there is someone who can perform same or better, why shouldn't he be replaced. The position is a political appointment and not a career post. Even if Soludo was doing the best job ever, he shouldn't remain in office forever. |

why don't you simply post a brief intro and provide a link to the full article. Copying and pasting an entire article is redundant, and often times lossy (as some relevant links and images are omitted). |
I doubt the guy would have gotten N400 million and still continued as a cook, but I expect the actual amount is much higher than the N13 million (possibly N40 million). He might not have stolen the entire money from the governor's study, but might have gotten some for doing 'espionage' work for interested parties e.g. taking peeks at documents, appointment lists, eavesdropping on conversation etc. It is not uncommon for domestic staff to people in high positions to engage in these |
brein:and at the end of his second term? Probably you feel Soludo should remain in office till his death? ![]() Soludo's term has come to an end, it is left to the president to decide if he wants him to continue or would prefer to replace him. |
Fans - doubt I 'll ever understand how some people take it so such a level. The players who got paid millions of dollars for the game have likely gotten over the loss. The club owners who invested millions of dollars have accepted the result. It is the fan, who wouldn't receive a penny if they had won, who has decided to murder others. Its simply unforgivable. He should be hung till dead. |
Afaukwu:Sorry for not being specific enough, but I was referring to the post of NNPC GMD. |
I don't think it is a waste, but we must make sure that the sector, and the associated market, evolve in the right direction. The sector needs to improve in various ways (including getting rid of the civilian and uniformed agberos), but at each phase, there should be a means of transport available to every income level. |
@AjaraEwuro You are yet to respond to my post |
AjaraEwuro:Please point me to the relevant sources. |
Issues of interest include - Rates and fares: who determines how much these taxis charge and will it be homogeneous across the companies and the independent taxis carbs - Protecting the interest of existing independent taxis: While it is good to have quality cabs on the road, the existing taxis are the source of living of some, and the traffic agency should not try to phase/force them out unfairly, in favor of the government supported program - Relationship with existing transport associations and motor parks, as they may see them as an unwanted competitors with government support - A complementing bus service is desirable for mass transit, as I feel this would serve the masses better. |
Seems we never learn in Nigeria. Every issue must be discussed on a tribal basis? Looking at the list, one can easily see that involvement was by virtue of position, and not tribe: oil ministers, president, NNPC directors etc. |
Afaukwu:No, federal character is not in itself counter productive to merit. Every part of Nigeria has abundant talent that can deliver when given the opportunity. The problem is arises when federal character overwhelms merit. The basis aim of federal character is to protect the interest of all parties that non feels marginaliuzed, putting an incompetent fellow in office defeats that. 2. Is it agreed that the south has more competent people than the north?No. Being competent and being qualified should not be confused. Irrespective, I believe any regions have enough brilliant minds to fill every key position. I have met brilliant minds from several parts of Nigeria, and the world. There is nothing racial or tribal about brilliancy or competency. 3. What to do to send the federal character syndrome to where it belongs?Simply always let merit and competence take precedence, while the federal character is kept in view. 4. If 2 above is correct, what happens to the rump of northerners when merit becomes the norm?see response to 2 |
Afaukwu:nah!!! the trademark maps are absent! ![]() |
Mai Suya:I would even think that the visitors visa would have a success rate of less than 1%. Probably the guy missed a zero i.e. 58,000 of 700, 000 applicants |
tymoti:But ethnicity should take a back seat to merit. Nigerians are guilty of being silent when the incompetent fellow is from their neck of the woods. We should not put an incompetent fellow in office simply in the name of federal character. |
@topic dis thread go long o!!! ![]() |
@asha 80 Please delete/trim the article. |
Nice article. Was disappointed with his not addressing the ND issue. The guy is looking quite interesting. Spoke with a former colleague of his, who described him as being brilliant and of his own mind, but could be a bit extravagant with spending (guess there goes the foreign reserves ). The person felt he was a good choice for CBN governor.(If he practices what he preaches), would be good to have more people like him in leadership positions. I am leaning more towards him being CBN governor. Yaradua can fire all the other people and appoint others to maintain federal character. |
It is only the masses that see ethnic lines, while our corrupt leaders act like siblings. It seems we have not learnt from our experience of divide and conquer used by the british during the colonial days. The more united we are as a nation, the better it would be for the masses. |
