PoliticsRe: Insecurity: Kebbi Governor Gives Army ₦‎500m Monthly For Operations – Senator by bixton(m): 12:15pm On May 22, 2024
Beautifulday:
State has no such power to finance the military in any form.
Every State governor has been doing such in different ways not only to the military.
Even the NPF benefits from such largese of security vote. That is why the States needs to commence their own State Police so that they can fund them properly while the FG takes care of that which is theirs.
PoliticsRe: Insecurity: Kebbi Governor Gives Army ₦‎500m Monthly For Operations – Senator by bixton(m): 10:04am On May 22, 2024
Beautifulday:
That is corruption. The military involved should be sacked.
The security vote money allocated to governors is more like a miscellaneous money with no details attached to it. It's a kind of money spent on frivolities. No records, nothing backed by law and so corruption can't be said to be occurring.
PoliticsRe: Minimum Wage: FG, Labour Meeting Adjourned As Workers Rejects ₦‎54,000 Offer by bixton(m): 10:00am On May 22, 2024
Angelfrost:
Good points, but let's face facts... Can this nation truly survive the fallout of paying a minimum wage of over 300k in this unproductive and corrupt economy?!!

The way prices of commodities will hit the roof due to more money chasing fewer goods will sink the nation into oblivion.

Labor needs to sit down with seasoned economists (they ought to have some in their rank and file), and find a way to make workers' lives better without plunging the nation into a calamitous HYPERINFLATION!

You don't just toss lots of money into people's hands without a buoyant economy to cushion their spending.

For me... Both sides of this debacle should come clean and be reasonable.

FG needs to seriously open up about the nation's finances... They have to show that they are cutting back on their excesses too.
The nation is only unproductive to those who are poor. The politicians are reaping good from this unproductiveness of the nation.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the stand of the NLC/TUC and I pray they stand firm as a solid rock.
Let the FG come out with a template on how that purported #54,000 would be spent on a monthly basis by that civil servant and let's even assume that it's just for a single individual without any dependants if that's even possible.
The FG knows what to do to make the nation productive and very productive but as a nation and a people we prefer short cuts and like putting forth unrealistic policies that are only good on paper.
There's a big difference between a nation being operational rather than functional and that is where and what Nigeria is.

We are an unserious people in this nation.
Who in the military is he giving that amount of money monthly? He just succeeded in making sure the insecurity grows more in his State by that act.
I would rather find an independent security outfit like some of our former militant brothers in the Niger Delta pay them that money and see what they will achieve or call all those bandits and share that money amongst them and tell them to desist from such activities and maintain order within their domains.

Governor Sim Fubara has reinstated over 200 council workers that were sacked by Emohua LGA Chairman, Hon. Chidi Lloyd and 3-month salaries have been paid to them.
Democracy is working in Rivers State under our great party PDP.

Details later ....
200 LG workers in Emouha LGA re-instated!!!! How many workers are in that LGA?
Good news oOoOO.....but if Hon. Chidi Lloyd sacked them, when were they sacked and were they never replaced or is this just the political stunt of making people feel the governor has the grassroots at hand.........
I do hope the governor is not trying to do the work of the LGA chairmen as they have once said previously..........

COMRADES, below are the photos of the Tor Tiv reconciling SGF Akume and Hyacinth Alia the governor of Benue State after a longstanding feud between the duo, now they are back on track together for the interest and progress of Benue State

However, the case is usually different when it comes to political loggerheads in the Niger Delta. The political scenario displaying itself in Rivers State today, it had displayed itself in the Niger Delta States. Bayelsa State, is between Jonathan and Sylva. Edo State, Oshiomhole vs Obaseki. Rivers State, Ameachi vs Wike. Rivers State, Fubara vs Wike. Akwa Ibom State, Udom vs Akpabio etc. These political actors involved in a messy impasse that they don't say 'Hi' to each other to the extent that they even deleted each others phone numbers from their phones. Some enmity lasted as long as ten years without reconciliation up till date

Let us talk about the political situation in Rivers State today, who do you think suppose to reconcile the warring parties? The elders? The past governors? Or the traditional rulers? Because the president has tried his best in this case, unfortunately it could not work. Why do you think that political misunderstanding in Rivers State is always irreconcilable till infinity?
If this reconciliation does not translate into bringing meaningful infrastructural development, improved social welfare and security, etc, etc, then it is absolutely nothing good for the common good of the common people.

Because these so called religious leaders have received money from the largese of the Niger State, State House Speaker there are calling for resignation of a federal minister.
Imagine a State House Speaker saying his marrying out orphans girls as part of his constituency projects. That is how we saw another saying he bought calabash and mats for grave yards. Are these the kind of intellectuals we have from the North and are these the kind of people that would want to become President of a country. How did all these people come into political office in this time of age.
The religious leaders are saying the girls are adults and old enough and they would take legal action against the Federal Minister.
Only someone who was not truly educated and learned will say an adult is an orphan. This people are not even concerned about the issue of banditry and how to genuinely resolve it but are happy to give out those whose parents have been killed due to banditry.
Truly the heart of man is desperately evil.

SIM may likely be the one person this otapiapia will catch at the end of this drama.
There's a court injunction restraining anyone from taking former governor Peter Odili to the mud and that same ruling CRA benefited from it when Wike constituted a committee to probe him and Wike will also benefit from it but SIM will not benefit from such because the case against you will span from your career years as a civil servant and you'll have to explain much more than you think you're acting now.

There's no need using the word Pro Wike law makers.
There are times fightings and in-fightings brings about the true process of functional democracy where each arm demonstrates their responsibilities within the ambient of the law guiding them and not infringing on another.
The practice of appointment of LG caretaker chairmen by governors is against the law and this legislative assembly has beaconed on the governor to do the right thing rather than go about it the old ways.
At the end of this so many State Legislative arms will turn a new leaf.
At the end of the day LG elections may become based on accountability and integrity rather than show of money.

See bro, before nysome wike became governor other people were also funding the party so wike shouldn't behave as if he's the only one funding the party.

In the past people like james ibori, Arthur eze, emeka offor and other governors were funding the party without making so much noise.

I agree with you that what PDP did to wike was bad. But let's not forget that thesame wike was the one bringing in the chairmen and also removing them. Even this embrassement that happened to him at the primaries was also self inflicted so he should just calm down.

Pdp should go back to the drawing board and bring back people like Olusegun obasanjo, Goodluck jonathan and other foundational members that are still alive back to the party.

What the party need at this time is to close ranks and stop this infighting
The names of those you just mentioned were the days of old and some of these men were sabotaged by other members.
So the past has gone with the wind.
We are in the present and possibly the future of what becomes of the party.
Bringing in party members of old is not the issue but where will the finance come from, that is the real question, and not just finance but finance to walk the real talk?
Wike irrespective of whatever he might have done has not really done any worse thing than many of those who had sabotaged the party and left the party and after they could not achieve or maintain their selfish ambition elsewhere only returned to claim founding fathers!!!!!
I repeat we are in the present and only those who are ready to walk the talk with their finance be it personal are looted will make inroads significant of the times ahead.

This governor has spent 4 years putting things in motion and the particle is yet to actually move. I keep wondering how can one appoint commissioners and more than half of the ministries and even those that are supposed to have value added show no signs of anything been done.
A governor who spent more that 6 months modifying a round about extension or is it a road that's not up to 1KM with just a bridge that it took almost 3 years to accomplish!!!!!.
