ganisucks:I really don't want to believe that this is coming from the party that Peter Obi stood as a Presidential aspirant. It is very very unbelievable. |

Certain times when we see certain ideologies and write up, we just believe this persons are being soonsored by the government. The so called inflation that's existing what is the cause of it now that the minimum wage has not been increased. Even if you say that the NLC is not reaonable why dont you propose a reasonable amount to be paid as minimum wage and kindly do the breakdown into how it would be spent. Just for a 30 day period and for a single individual with no one depending on him/her. Transport Toiletries Feeding Utilities Medical You can add more |
triplechoice:Definitely the government will have to downsize but they also do not need to do such thing. They only need to deploy the civil servants to where the work to do it and not keep them muddled together in a place where no work is and many can be re-assigned to other ministries/parastals/agencies/commissions that generate revenue and grow it. There's so much the/any government can(should) do to grow the economy and grow the knowledge base of the country of civil servant. |
helinues:If you were the NLC leader how much do you think would be a realistic minimum or living wage and as you quote that amount kindly itemize it as to how it would be spent on a 30 day plan..... Feeding.... Transport Toiletries Utility bills You can add more. Note that this is just for an individual without dependent. |
Ezeama400:Reported cases of corruption should not be used as yardstick to ascertain that a State is the (most) corrupt . The measure to use is the amount of judgment gotten from a competent court of law on the corruption cases brought before it and not frivolous and trumped up cases. |
HenryThegreat1:It's only natural that the AGF is doing what he was employed to do. Nevertheless that aspect of the constitution was not written in respect to an employee who wants to renegotiate (h)is/er wages for they are not withdrawing their services entirely but ensuring that the employer does the needful meeting the circumstances surrounding the present economic situation raping the nation. It's quiet alarming that around '80's the minimum wage was pegged at about $204 an equivalent of 204 Naira. Meaning those responsible for ensuring that the economy is working good have been doing no job at all and are being paid for no work. And the GEJ administration pegged the minimum wage at 18,000 Naira a dollar equivalent of $120. The PMB administration pegged it at 30,000 naira and the equivalent was far far less than $100...... ![]() Like I always ask people, what is the proof that the Nigerian economy is improving for the better putting the value of money and it's purchasing power to goods and services judging from the early '80's to this present time? Putting this into consideration since we have always liked to compare ourselves with European countries and the government did not consult anyone when they increased petrol and electricity tariifs by 200%, etc, etc, etc |
UKEMY:I don't have emotions and don't do sentiments. There are procedures for any politician to be no longer a registered member of a party and that process can never be faulted as far as the law is concerned. |
naptu2:I don't expect anyone to mention the name(s) of any of the governors who had governed before. We should be putting up names of those who are yet to take any form of political appointment or elective positions. |
omolola12345:The government can't pay a minimum wage and you want them to talk about living wage !!! Haba.... Imagine that we like to compare ourselves with nations that pay their civil servants living wage while our public servants earn a living wage far above their counterparts overseas. The Nigerian government don't care about anyone. |
ogododo:How does the government lift 50 million people out of poverty through such innovations when the government can't pay a good wage/salary to the existing civil servants already employed by them!!!! Or what is the salary range for someone who is at the poverty line and what salary would it be to ascertain that such is out of poverty? |
Jughead29:#150K should be the minimum wage. |
Image123:There is no time frame to good things taking a while to occur. Removal of subsidy is never a bad thing but comparing our prices with that of other African nations is wrong. We do this comparision only when we want to take from the people but when its time to give them what's is due we start kicking them on their goads. It's abnormal for a Nigeria to first remove subsidy because of those who are benefited from it without first putting the nation's refineries to be operational and functional. The PH Refinery is yet to be working and with no substantive date of operation. We are being told they want to build another smaller refinery close to it. Na laff I dey laff. The KD Refinery was not built to refine the Nigerian crude but the Venezuelan crude and over the years. So we have refineries not functioning with staffs there in. I guess many of these staffs are children of the high class. OBJ once said , e go better.........no one knows when that time will truly be seen. |

Very soon the NJC and the AGF will be calling some judicial officers as to why they were dancing in mire. |
ganisucks:Nothing should amaze anyone in this country. A country of laughing ducks. |
Image123:If the waters are troubled and the results befitting of good benefits are coming forth and those who are the followers are getting the benefits then it is a, well done. We are yet to see true positive change in our economy and development. What we have is superficial artificial thats why anyone can come on board and erode it with just one lousy policy. |
Bobloco:I don't know why the NLC is making this thing look like one serious thing that needs serious negotiation. Whatever the FG proposes as minimum wage let them come up with a template for it. I guess that's what the budget office does as ot concerns renumeration for the top government officials. So let them do a breakdown for whatever amount they will pay and let it made known on all media platforms. At least we know that all FG establishments are situated in city centers and towns. Let them use the rates of goods and other services as standard prices. |
HeadNigga:You may be right about the bolded but also remember that many public servants(ministers, federal high commissioners, directors, SA, SSA, senators from both chambers) likewise don't do anything meaningful when compared to the salaries they are paid. Will it not be better the same is done to them as you have suggested. We can't be living in a hypocritical world. Why limit it to those whose salaries are meagre. |
Image123:Certainly you have such powers and that I do know. That wish is what will bring about the needed change, it will only take time and with the writing of new laws, all those who had held elective and gotten appointments in the old system will not be allowed to take any of such positions given the new system to be practiced. New blood , fresh ideas. |
Image123:Since they thought of reverting over to the old national anthem that they met. I guess they also met the regional system of government and the regions giving to the cente and not the way it is now. I think its high time the nation return back to that kind of system only that in this arrangement let all the States be let to control their natural resources with possible the FG having a 5% stake, the SG a 25% stake and the LG 70% stake and both the SG and LG will give some form of tax return to the FG. Let States within a particular region come up together to form an alliance and do a road map that will promote their economy. The respective River Basin Authorities will be restructured to be more suited and same for the NDM and NDDC can be merged with a definite mandate. Same can be replicated within other geographical zones to suit their environment and needs. |
Image123:Those who are frustrated wrestle power to govern only to find out that they can't really do better than those they used propaganda to remove. |
Image123:Will the national anthem change the looting and deception of the political class, will it bring about an increase in minimum wage, will it stop police brutality, will it stop election rigging and ballot snatching, will it stop politicians from buying votes and all manner of cajoling, will it reduce banditry, kidnapping and herdsmen and farmers fighting, will it stop political appointees from behaving arrogantly, will it make the judicial system to be an arm of government that all can trust and not only those who are the highest bidders, will it make the political class of former regimes to return back stolen wealth, will it make all of us to speak the truth irrespective of bloodlines and ties, religious association, tribes, political affiliations all these free from things that permeate our sanctimonious and pontificating lives. |
Image123:No, I disagree. If the President can't access himself and tell same the truth that the presidency has not done well within this one year then it is absolutely hypocritical to have stood against the GEJ government in the manner they went about it. Within one year a good administrator should have gone beyond 45% and within the next one year he would have consolidated on the gains and forged ahead. All we have is a trial.and error approach from persons put in even critical sectors of the economy and they throw blame away from themselves. |
A cup of garri---#200 A cup of rice----#400 A cup of beans(white)---#350 3 seed of pepper ---#100 Curry-----#100 Bag of sachet water ------#400 Onion medium size------#300 1 small ice fish smoked -----#1000 1 small catfish smoked----#1200 Big loaf of local bread ----#1800( something that used to be #800) Any good stuff that the price remains same means the quantity or size has really diminished. There's no more #100 suya again. |
Smithkafors:The same way he was energetic and got to the grassroots by not telling the Anambra Electoral body to conduct LGA elections for 8 years and flagarantly abuse power ans constitutional laws by instituting Care Taker committed. A State he governed for same 8 years he could not pay the minimum salary as agreed by the then FG. A State he governed that the only investment he thought to bring into the State was a beer manufacturing company. A State that Medical doctors embarked on a strike for 8 months. A State where he used State funds to put into his family business. A State he sacked ibos from the State Civil just because they were not indigenes of Anambra. A State that still holds the Osu caste system dear to their heart. A State Governor who made it known that the Catholic church is the only one and all other Christian bodies are of no importance to him. We are yet to see a list of persons that must have benefited from his goodwill while he was a governor and those whom he carried along up the political ladder but there is none to point to. He is a one man show. A one man show can not govern over Nigeria given her nature and people. I would even leave out the words spoken about him by the Rev. Father Mbaka which speaks ill of him. |
ogododo:On a general scale it will be absolute ZERO. But to be fair enough let the ratings be based on the various aspects of the economy or based on the ministerial portfolios including that of the CBN governor and any other appointments as it concerns the economy. |
rotadeco27:With this proposed #100K and given your place of residence can you put up a template on how this money will be spent in a month and how much is left for savings. Just do a template for a single person with no dependent. Food Transport Utility bill(Electricity or water) Tithe/Alms giving Toiletries Provisions Gas refilling or kerosene Etc, etc, etc |
BondRiv:Ehen Ehen This type of election is what we call appointed election and there were no other political parties in that election. Its just the same thing that recently happened in the LGA elections in Bayelsa State. It's all appointed election and there were no opposition party to contest with. |
82man:Insulting the President will not solve the issue. If Peter Obi was elected there will still not be any increment in salary at least we can see how much he paid during his time as governor of Anambra State when compared to other States. One major factor of any good economy which is foundational knowledge is that you have value for money.and Nigeria lost that literally the last 20 years if you compare us to those nations in Europe we like to compare ourselves with whenever we talk about increase in petrol and electricity. |
dollar124:Since they have not increased the salary the inflation that the country is experiencing is caused by what, please? I don't understand why will anyone be complaining about inflation anytime people talk about increase in wages in this nation. But this same people will come and be comparing the price of petrol and gas, price of electricity, etc, etc, with Nigeria and USA. We are our own hindrances. |
Good01:It's not about NLC going lower and the FG going higher. It's good the NLC has come up with a template on how they arrive at their proposed figure. Let the FG also come out with their template on how they arrive at the figure they keep trying to propose. Because they can't just keep doing this and expect the common man with the lowest grade to accept and be happy. We all know they have a purported template for the large salaries and allowances they give themselves, right from the Presidency, Senators in both chambers, Ministers, Federal High Commissioners, etc, etc......many of which don't even contribute anything meaningful to the Nigerian economy and coupled with they still have the easy access to loot the treasury of the nation. |
AngelGabbyShara:I am not sure this NULGE President understands what it means by LGA autonomy if he is even naming Rivers State as part of those given to it. Please let those in Ekiti and Jigawa come and confirm this story..... As far as Rivers State is concerned it's a complete NO, NO. |
michlins:Those things written in the Holy Bible are just impossible things men thought that were made possible by the One True God, The Everlasting Father. |
