States should build their own power generation plants and distribute to consumers ensuring such distribution are put through prepaid meters on each building or structure as the case maybe. Electricity tariifs can be fixed at prices that are reasonable and economical but it should encourage consumers to use light. There is no need for subsidy on such for it will only be an avenue for someone to steal government monies.

I just look forward to the NLC holding it's ground and getting through the demands. It's either now or never. Maybe this will be a lesson to the the Executive and Legislature on all arms of government.
The FG did not think it through when petrol subsidy was removed though it wasn't a bad thing, but it's nonsensical to not have your own refineries working effectively or having the government build several other new ones but the government deems it fit to still have persons working in a non functional refinery and earning wages.
The same government who is procuring loans for GENCOs and DISCOs and every hard ware equipment, yet the populace still pay for darkness due to estimated bill system.
We lack sense even in small issues on how to resolve them when it does not benefit us entirely.

Whatever it will take the NLC to do that will make the FG agree to a better minimum wage let them go ahead and do.

When the aged keeps lieing it tells a lot and the intention is not far fetched. The say "Ijaws" is truth but many a times whatever comes out from the mouth of the Ijaw man has always been lies upon lies.
Many of us do not give in to ill gotten sentiments. Those who know what and how Wike became governor of Rivers State will not fall for such stories. It's a pity that those who are referred to as elders and states' men no longer exhibit such in righteousness given their gray(golden) hairs.

Anyone who knew what transpired between the Jonathan's/Patience's and Amaechi and what led to Wike emerging as a governorship aspirant when he made it known as at that time "There is no PDP in Rivers State".
Where were the Ijaws and what was their role in the politics of the State?
Amaechi, Wike, Magnus, Dakuku and a few others were the frontals of Rivers State PDP. The fallout of Amaechi with Patience's/GEJ made Amaechi and those who were loyal to him and understood the nonsense that the Ijaw pride could not settle that made them lose the Presidential election. So Wike took up the leadership of the PDP that had no one to walk the path and do the talk.
If Clark is saying that Wike was forced on the Ijaws, let him say the name(s) of the Ijaws that could withstand going against Amaechi at that time. Or is he referring to those Ijaws who were waiting for handouts and silver spoon?

As far Rivers State politics is concerned there are only a few persons who can walk the talk and Magnus Abe who bas been walking on a lone rangers path have joined them and put the past behind to forge the future.

My sister in Indiana told me their own minimum wage is $12 per hour while in California it's $16. It shows that each state pays it's own minimum wage based on it's economy potential. But in Nigeria the govt is fixing same minimum wage for a worker in Ekiti or zamfara and the ones in Lagos or Rivers. C'mon. Let each state fix it's own minimum wage. But before that can be effective,we must return to Regional govt.

Mk we dey play dey go until then.
The FG is the only person that will fix the MW for only FG employees.
State Governors are only supposed to use that FG figure as a measure to fix theirs. So it's possible that some SG can even fix a much higher MW when compared to the FG given what they generate as IGR and many other States can also improve on their IGR by creating better enabling environment for businesses and looking for ways to encourage true businesses thrive well and entrepreneurship sustainable.

When people come out and talk no sense.
Does Doyin Okupe knows also that's it's evil that the DISCOs collect electricity bills even when they supply darkness!!!!!

I live in a place where if you check the number of hours the DISCOs brings electricity for usage in a 30 day period, it's not up to the equivalent for 7 days and yet one gets to pay like it's been used for a 30 days because it's all estimated bills. They have refused to bring prepaid meters even when people intend to purchase.

Anybody saying it's treasonable for NLC to have shutdown the national grid should also know that it's a criminal offense for the FG through any of it's representatives to come out and lie to Nigerians.
A man and a people who fought an administration that was better than what we have now should know that he should perform magic to ensure they do much more better and stop telling people to give them time. If one year in office is not okay for you to put the economy in place doing all the right things using the right approach then it's as good as cluelessness.

The minimum wage is just a basic standard amount any business owner or employer uses as a scale to fix salaries for employees.

Yes, a POS attendant can be paid such amount if the revenue generated through that business wherever it's situated meets up. I'm sure even the attendant knows how much revenue is coming into the business through her services.

This is the reason why in certain private business the employees can request for an increase in their wages if they can actually know the revenue generated and they know their production output.

The owner of a company can't be travelling with private plane and sending his family on vacation and still expect his employees to remain receiving peanuts. Sometimes what makes people in certain establishment is not because of peanuts paid them but because the owners gives certain goodwill packages in different forms.

I won't be surprised Reno Omokri and his likes did not follow their mum to the market when they were growing up so as adults he can decide to say whatever fits his deceptive ambitious purpose.
I cannot speak for all the tribes and States in the country but one thing I know is that cutting of yam into this sizes for sale is not what it used to be. Yes, some yams are usually rotten on in the inside and I know as a growing child what my mum does is to use knife and do an insertion or there's a way she uses a finger to peel the yam to know if it's rotten on the inside. I have visited certain markets and farms even in the middle belt and I have never come across such way of cutting yams into samller sizes and selling. Even in Benue State, those who roast yams along the travelling road to sell to travellers who buy and eat hardly cut it in smaller sizes.
As far as i know this cutting and selling started within the last 8 years or thereabout in some areas and not every where. It is even strange for some of us to go and buy cut raw yam of such sizes when we can go ans buy roasted or fried yam.

Toh

Sometimes, the way we do things in Nigeria is always questionable.

How can you be having discussion about increase in minimum wage without involving NGF? The same NGF have said they are not interested in paying anything above N70k
The NGF are part of that meeting by reason that each State Governor is expected to send a representative but they bluntly refused to partake in it. Many of them don't even pay #18,000, #30,000, as was approved the past years for minimum wage but when it comes to election, the money that would be shared would exceed the total wage bill in their States.
The local NLC in each State should be empowered to go on strikes that will make the respective governors/government pay the stipulated agreed salaries. In some States the NLC are only as good as nothing for they have already sold out themselves to the governors.
Any State Governor that says he can't pay #100,000 as minimum wage have no business sitting in that prestigious office.
Even if concessions might be given in some States, the truth is that whatever amount they bring up let a template as to how it will be expended be shown as well given the price of goods and services in that State.

I pity some state civil servants sha. With the way these governors are talking, you would think most of them even fulfilled the previous #30k minimum wage agreement. Mtchew.

Some states, as we speak, still have months of salary backlog they are yet to pay.

Regional government will solve this kind of mess. The funny thing is that the state workers being owed months of salaries won't drag their governors but will still face the FG. Same with the NLC - they only strike when they have issues to iron with the FG. But in many state chapters, they remain docile while the governors continue to give it to their workers in the ass.
Whatever collapsed regional government happened for a good reason and there's no going back.
Let the FG amend the laws and let every State be fully autonomous and be made to harness their resources, grow their economy and bring about meaningful infrastructural development as it suits their environment, culture, etc, etc.
Those who share common boundary and others can pull up funds to have a common economic policy.

In all let the States, remit to the FG as it was in the regional system of government or let a better way of sharing allocation be done based on what resources are within a State.
Let the LGA operate also autonomous and should be given responsibility to do what the States are doing now. The LGA should remit to States as well. States should be given the powers to create more LGA for larger areas and for smaller areas RDA status for faster development.
Persons who had previously held elective or political appointments in the old system should not be seen holding same in this new system.

Potential Impact on Beef Prices
Implementing large-scale ranching could significantly increase the cost of beef due to the high expenses associated with establishing and maintaining ranches. These would make Nigerian cows too expensive for purchase as cows from Niger and other neighboring countries practicing open grazing will be cheaper in the open market.

Suggested Practical Solutions
Designated Grazing Areas: Allocate specific areas for grazing to prevent clashes while allowing pastoralists to continue traditional herding methods.
Conflict Resolution Mechanisms: Establish local committees to mediate disputes between farmers and herders, promoting peaceful coexistence.
Cooperative Farming: Encourage farmers and herders to form cooperatives, sharing resources and knowledge to improve productivity and harmony.
Community-Based Animal Health Services: Provide mobile veterinary services to support herders, reducing the need for long migrations and potential conflicts.
These solutions aim to be cost-effective and fair to both cattle herders and farmers, ensuring sustainable practices and reducing conflicts.
