That will be like declaration of war in Niger Delta in addition to Southeast, Northeast and

Yesterday 2 security operatives died for the sake of this crisis and clearly thousands of non-State actors are armed in the Niger Delta. Do you think it will be easy to tame them when we already have security challenges across the country? No wise leader or judiciary will deliberately cause avoidable war.
If for any reason the 27 lawmakers case at the Appeal Court goes in their favour, then you'll know that those who think are causing security issues in the State will be quenched by a very strong hand. There's no dwelling that's hidden.

e be like una no understand wetin dey go on.. the Appeal court ruling is in respect of wether the 27 defected RSHA members should keep their seats. The amended local government tenure extension law HAS ALREADY BEEN STRUCK OUT BY A HIGH COURT FOR BEING UNCONSTITUTIONAL. That ruling has not been appealed or vacated so as it is TODAY there is NO tenure elongation law in Rivers state. The LG chairmen are gone EVEN IF THE COURTS REINSTATE THE 27 ASSEMBLY MEMBERS.

These local govt chairmen are hoping that if the 27 lawmakers win at Appeal then all laws they have made stand WHICH IS TRUE but not for the elongation tenure law which has already been struck out by a court. As a state assembly, you can't make such a tenure elongation law that goes against the FEDERAL CONSTITUTION otherwise Tinubu can wake up tomorrow and extend his tenure by 6 months or 1 year through the national assembly.

You gerrit nowhuh 🤔
Also be reminded that the CTC which is been put in place is also unconstitutional. So if the 27 lawmakers win at the Appeal, what do you think would happen?
Allowing a CTC remain in office or bring back tise who were elected to stand in till an election is been conducted?
Even the judge that struck out that case of tenure elongation would still have a case brought to his court at the appropriate time. Little by little everything will unfold.

I guess when she means refrigerator, she means the section of the fridge that does not get food frozen. Just like the section of the fridge you put egg, fruits, etc, etc..... otherwise if she's meaning the entirety of the refrigerator, I think she's mistaken on so many things. Because people have been doing such even before they came to know what is called a microwave today.

I I know. I meant that if they used the 18k value of $120 in 2014, among other factors, then the minimum wage now should be circa ₦180k.
That is what it ought to be.
The civil servant or NLC are not the persons who are vested with putting up economic policies to drive the economy. So as long as our economy is based on the value of dollar to naira, then wages should be same.
It's pure evil for the current FG to pay a wage whose exchange rate presently in dollar is lesser than what it is in 2015. It is pure evil and evil will not prevail. There's no way concession can be given for such evil to prevail.

Nigeria needs to do better to save our collective fortune. We cannot continue to be a consuming nation, producing/exporting nothing and expect our economy to grow. We have the potential to even peg minimum wage at N500,000 but who will do the work? What will we produce? What will we export to earn FX?
There are those who would do the work, come rain, come sun but the government at all levels have refused to bring in such people. So what you have are people in government parastals who have no business to be there been there and that's why you'll see even people who are directors even failing promotion exams straight 3 times, you'll find people who are supposed to be career civil servants who claimed to have worked for 15 years, failing in exams whose questions are based on their purported departments and careers. A lot of civil servants who are in the civil service don't even know what their job functions are and don't even know their duties. There are places you'll go you'll see an admin staff doing the work of a secretary even when the secretary is in office. I have seen several secretaries and admin staffs who can't take minutes, write memos, even type with a computer even if you give them 7 days to carry out a task which ordinarily should not be more than 24 hours.

I'm not even talking about whether someone is qualified or not having requisite certificate or not. But if someone who is employed and having worked 12 months and is showing no signs of reasonable improvement or being productive significantly in the place he is as it concerns the related job then there's no need keeping such person there.

Imagine people saying the constitution of the FRN stands tall above all and it's still in this same country that in some areas the Sharia law is higher than the Nigerian constitution.
I guess we have Sharia law operating in Northern Sharia territory while the Southern areas have the Nigerian constitution operating.
Tahhh..... hypocrisy in it's fullness.

If your tenure expires, why amend the law to extend it. This is what pro-Fubara group is against. And with the situation of things now, it won't be wise to conduct a local Government election in Rivers.

Imagine if Obasanjo succeeded to amend the Nigerian constitution and continued the third tenure
The pro-fubara group are only fighting that the governor be allowed to appoint CTC chairmen just the way his predecessors have done....
Which is against the constitution of the country.

The 27 member SHA members before all this drama escalated had earlier informed the governor Fubara some good couple of months to conduct a LG election but the governor is adamant like all his predecessors to follow on his path of CTC.

It would be chaos for the governor if the cases at court, both of the 27 SHA members and the autonomy of the LGAC goes against him. It would be chaos for him.

PBAT is not one given to such insolence and careless stupidity and foolishness exhibited by all.

DIVINEEVIDENCE:
I am saying, if we influence parameters of inflation such that the Naira is strengthened and the economy take a massive boost, it will automatically uplift those below the poverty line.

If we can deal with inflation and increase our forex earnings, why would our standard of living not increase?

Increasing minimum wage without a corresponding increase in productivity will further impoverish us and weaken our currency.

The ensuing high exchange rate will make it difficult for manufacturers to import raw materials, leading to layoffs, reduction in value and quality of products as well as increase in price of finished products which will take up the new wage increase for the market to attain equilibrium.

In the end, bread of ₦1500 will be sold for ₦2300 and we'll return to square one.

Meanwhile, we've weakened our currency by injecting it into the system without a corresponding increase in productivity.

Like taking alcohol to drown your sorrows.
Eventually you wake up from your hangover and reality stares you in the face again.

You can choose between keeping yourself perpetually inebriated or squaring your shoulders to tackle the problem once and for all.
It's not NLC that caused the already existing inflation. It's not the duty of NLC to bring up economic policy. Those who is their resoinsiito ensure their policies don't undermine the economy and naira did not put into consideration the ripple effects it would cause when they chose what is causing NLC to demand for a wage that fits the current economic realities.
So let the FG give that current wage that will meet the economic realities and also fix the problems they caused by their trial and error policies.
Lets stop saying an increase in wages will cause inflation. This so called inflation is just an artificial thing.
A sensible, President, Administrator, economist will not solve a problem by creating another problem and blaming it on another.

I don't really understand why everybody is shouting 62k this and that. The 62k is for level 1 step 1, which in reality nobody is in that level because even olevel employees starts from level 4, and graduate employees starts from level 8.
We should also remember that this minimum wage only affects less than 10% of Nigerian workers. Hence it will be unfair to the rest of Nigerians who will not benefit from the minimum wage if most of state resources are used just to pay salaries to only government workers.

Who will pay those in private sector? What about the jobless?
I don't understand the reasoning of all of us who speak in this manner....
We can't continue to say what or how will the private sector say for they can't afford it!!!
The private sector is in different segments and they all know the methods they arrive at to pay their employees.
We can't continue to bring up lame excuses and ideas as to why private sector can't pay !!!!
I would be more happy if the government can put a template on that money they want to shove up the throats of the NLC and let's see it on a spreadsheet.
Those who claim that civil servants don't work or not productive, can they say same for those who are proposing a poverty wage?

It would be with all pleasure that none of these sets of people from top to bottom be voted for in the next election. If by chance the economy even improves by 0.000000001% they do not need to be allowed to return to the positions they so occupy now. Let the votes count in all geographical zones.

Let's us be considerate because things are not easy worldwide
Are you sure that 62k is the basic salary?
Because if it is then when you add all the allowances it would come up to above N100K.....
All of us can't be in the civil service.
So whatever the kind of daily hustle we are involved in we will pray we get clients that will be able to pay what is reasonable for the service been rendered and be mindful of our expenditure.

They have dribbled labour to a corner they can't return to strike action because once they pass the bill, it's over for labour. Tinubu is bad for Nigeria
That is not how it works. The FG through PBAT and the legislooters are playing high handed. The FG can choose to pass it and nothing can stop the NLC to embark another strike. Negotiations are not one sided but both parties should have a near common ground. If this is the way PBAT goes about governance and administration then he is not fit in running an economy.
It's means the APC led FG in just 9 years has devalued the Naira, brought inhuman economic policies that have caused the price of goods and services to have shot up the sky.
So basically economy wise the value of N18,000 prio 2015 elections in dollar is about $120 and someone could buy a good sized yam somewhere in the middle belt for N200 but now N18000 is about $12 and would have been about less than $10 if not what the CBN governor did with the BDC people. So basically the APC administration of just 9 years has destroyed what the PDP achieved in it's 16 years in power. Do you know what amount of backwardness that has brought on the economy ? Do you know if they continue in this way that so many ills will increase in the land?

In all my life I never hear say State pay pass federal before.. But it's happening now, if Edo state is already paying 70k why will the federal still be glamouring for 62k are these people normal at all?
States can actually pay more than the FG. The reason why States don't want to do that is because they will say there are receiving FAAC from the FG and give all manner of excuses which can only be eaten by gullible thinkers.
The raising of the salary wage to #70K in Edo State by Obaseki is only political and because of the forth coming election.
It's just the same thing Dickson did in Bayelsa State towards the end of his tenure when he felt the opposition will win the election. Politicians don't do anything good without them taking undue pride in applauding themselves in it.

PropertiesRe: My Landlord Is Endangering The Health Of Everyone In The Compound. by bixton(m): 7:42pm On Jun 16, 2024
Halo22:
I have been trying to contain my disgust over the life threatening lifestyle of my landlord and his house hold, but then, it has reached the brim. I would like to make the story short cos I humbly want to seek advice on the best way to tackle this issue at hand.

I live in an environment where we are not that populated in the compound. Every person or household minds his or her business in order to maintain peace and tranquility as well as oneness as was literally advised by the landlord in his preaching of novel peace which has completely been foiled by himself in particular. He has a wife with female children who are all adults. What still baffles me is how the daughters will end up being wives in future. That would be topic for a later day.

Fast forward to early this year, I noticed a leak in the pipe that connects to their own house's toilet and quickly alerted the wife on the need to fix it so it won't deteriorate. When I saw the woman couldn't do much to fix the breakage, I organized some of my neighbours, particularly men, to talk with the husband (landlord). Lo and behold, the man apologized for the inconveniences caused and promised to fix it Asap. Two months down the line in April, we politely met him again to remind him of the dangers of the odour that oozes out of the pit, he again promised to fix it and up until now, the pipe remains unfixed and has completely gone bad, emanating irritating odour all over the compound whenever it rains, mostly my own corner of the building.

At first, I thought about parking out of the compound, but I still have about 6 months' rent running and starting afresh to look for house, the stress, extra payment and all that are not worth engaging in right away. Please what is the best step to take in this situation considering the fact that the wife is a nice and considerate person, just that the husband influences her negatively. I don't want to have issues personally with them. I humbly ask please.
You know yoir landlord better than any of us here.
For keeps, take several snap shots of the broken pipe and it's surrounding and possibly how it looks like after rainfall. This ia just for keeps if you intend to renew your rental for the next couple of years.
Since it's you it affects mostly and if the repairs will cost nothing more than #10,000, probably you should call a plumber or a handyman to fix it. You can as well discuss such with your landlord and it will be deducted from your next rental. You can put it in writing or let it pass if it's something you can do for the same of a good conscience.
But if you want to go by the law, then you'll have to make a report to the ministry of environment and ministry of health.
But still take pictures of it all.
