Obi1kenobi: Lol, making people smile is not the primary responsibility of government at all. It's like saying a parent's primary responsibility is making their children smile even if what would make their children smile would be destructive to the family. Almost 60% of Nigeria's revenue is going to debt servicing and you think that instead of stabilizing the economy, bringing down inflation (increasing minimum wage has further inflationary effects), stabilizing our very unstable currency with more forex intervention etc we should be focused on making workers smile. You have your priorities backwards.
You don't have the right to resist your landlady's rent demand because its her house and if you can't afford it, you should leave. Workers who aren't fulfilled by their pay have the right to leave as well. It shouldn't be up to a struggling employer to pay workers money that he doesn't have when he's trying to keep his business afloat and survive. I'll conclude by saying if the President and Governors can't pay a reasonable minimum living wage, they can as well resign from office. They were not elected be it by hook or by crook to enslave the people. |

Image123: LoLz, i thought the whole gra gra and protest was for the masses. So it's for civil service and politicians, so why disturbing the whole country about it? Why shutting down schools, hospitals, airports and national grid when you will pay your staff what and when you want? It works both ways. Whatever the NLC does works directly for all Civil Servants and Public Servants and indirectly for the rest of the populace. It's as simple as that. |

Can the schools and farms around you pay minimum wage to their lowest staff when passed into law? Or you believe minimum wage is only for Tinubu to pay? How many MSMES can pay minimum wage to their least staff? Can you pay minimum wage to your cleaner or house maid and shop assistant? Your statement is a well in ignorance. The government at all levels can't use that as a basis not to increase the wage of civil servants. Every private employer will have to increase their employees wages accordingly to the revenue generated from their businesses. |

Emeskhalifa: Let me ask, are you a business owner? Do you have employees on your payroll? My guess is no else u for know say no be everybody go fit pay that minimum wage. The government at all levels can't use that as a basis not to increase the wage of civil servants. Every private employer will have to increase their employees wages accordingly to the revenue generated from their businesses. There are private schools whose school fees are even high but they pay one of the lowest in the nation. My landlady increased rental on her property and told me God will provide for me to pay the increment. Do I have a right to argue with her? In governance policy making is about ensuring the people are made to smile and not to keep them in slavery telling them it's for a little time. |

EmperorCaesar: As a former CBN Gov, He knows best and I'm sure PBAT share same ideology too
They wouldnt approve what State Gov would struggle to pay in the long run
If you disagree with this, just remember than you arent smarter than Soludo If a former CBN governor and now a State Governor is making such statement it's just a proof that he's not smart whatsoever. He is among the elites who contributed to the destruction of the nation's economy. He is amongst those who says petrol subsidy should be removed and they did not think about the ripple effects it will cause. As a governor he should be looking for ways to ensure that the economy and economic activity in Anambra State through intentional government participation is on the increase, approachable and friendly. He is amongst those who measure the Dollar to the Naira, comparing our low priced petroleum products, etc, etc to that of other European countries but they have never measured same when it comes to wages. If before 2015 the minimum wage is around $100 corresponding to about #15,000 to #18,000, why will the present administration at all levels pay anything less given the current exchange rate. Governance and administration is not all about the construction of roads, bridges and buildings without putting the wholesome welfare of the common man and in this case the civil servant. You don't need intelligence for infrastructure to be in place. Can Solido justify his wage as a governor and compare it with his counterparts in the USA? The pension formers governors collect is it also sustainable and why will they be paid such for doing nothing 4 to 8 years while those who have put in 35 years still receive crumbs?!!!!! |

DeepsightX: One of the amazing things in this age is to recall the ferocity with which this crew (BAT/APC) hounded GEJ and screamed blue murder at his every step. Only to turn up with a million times worse than the man made available.
When the man only partially removed subsidy, they all went into a frenzy and national protests followed. They have removed it fully (they claim) and the silence of the grave yard follows. The man, as you have pointed out, was offering 100 USD as minimum wage. They refuse to do even a third of that. In every way, they make that man look like a genius and saint sent from heaven.
And yet they screamed and screamed to take over, only to deliver sorrow tears and blood. Yeah, Yea, Yeah. Nothing stops us from doing same as they did to GEJ. It's not like a pay back thing. Evil only triumphs because good keeps quiet and only speak in their closet. Let's all walk the talk and keep praying. |

I think they sit down, strategize on how to keep us calm while dey rip us even further. At least we were paid a $100 during Jonathan reign as minimum wage. The wage you all criticised him for, you made it so unbearable for him. Today your paying less than $25 as minimum wage. If this was what Nigerians bargain, we would have begged Jonathan to stay forever.
Why are these men so evil? They are evil because good, righteous and upright men in heart have refused to match their words on the earth. We have all succumbed to fear or everyone is living for self. |

Another thing to check even if such person losses his/her unit. Such loss is by how many votes compared to who won!!!! ORACULUM: Kindly state your option with reasons to help a brother make a decision on what to choose from? Lessons in the comment please. Your question is opened based. But I'll pick the £2000 because of the exchange rate when converting to Naira. I'll use this analogy. A family friend some years ago inquired from a group of friends about having to work in the Nigerian Railway which likely is a permanent job, career driven, and pensionable or take a contract work working directly under the wing of the CEO of company who has a running contract with one of the oil majors in the country. We told him to go with the contract job. Within the years the contract was in, he was able to purchase a land and build a befitting house for himself both in the tuwnship and in his village, have a little side investment that brings in good earnings being managed by the wife he married afterwards. Though the CEO is late and the current has been given to another person but he is not doing bad after many years. Those of his colleagues who who are working in the Nigerian Railway are been paid less than #100k. This happened more than 7 years ago. Note these are university graduates. So if you're business inclined and love investment portfolios kindly go for the bigger one. It would take light years for the Nigerian economy to beat the UK or it would take forever for the Naira to be stronger than the Pounds. |

It was natural for power to shift to the riverine after Ikwerre had done 16 years uninterrupted before Wike came in. Like you said, they needed someone to match the madness (figuratively) of Amaechi in Rivers which was why they made another Ikwerre man Wike the flag bearer (making it 24 years for Ikwerre). What Clark is saying, the Ijaws of Rivers listened to that arrangement because it was an Ijaw son Jonathan that brought Wike.
So what is your problem in that that you are insulting Ijaw people with so much arrogance I am very sure the entire post is written based on Rivers Ijaws and not of Rivers people in general. |

Where we already have 7 States within a zone, the other zones should have the balance to make 7 States. Each State should be fully autonomous. The sharing formula should be looked into and each State should be given their due based on their resources. There should be only one house, probably the House of Representatives and it should be part time and their wages and allowances should be commiserate with the work they do. A Commission should be set up and given the responsibility of Constituency projects funds and ensuring such funds are put into realistic projects that is value added and adds real value to the people and economy. Full autonomy for all LGA(C), creation of more LGA and setting up of RDAs for effective development meeting the needs of each local community. The judiciary should be rejigged from bottom to top. The Magistrate Court should be built and situated central to 4 to 7 tribal clans depending on each locality. |

phantom: TEXT OF PRESS BRIEFING BY DAGOGO IBOROMA, SAN, RIVERS STATE ATTORNEY-GENERAL AND COMMISSIONER FOR JUSTICE ON MONDAY, JUNE 10, 2024*
Gentlemen of the Press
• As Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and 3rd defendant in SUIT NO DHC/20/CS/2024, my attention has been drawn to a recent judgment. This suit did not seek to declare the seat of Martins Amaewhule and 26 others in Rivers State House of Assembly vacant.
• The suit of the claimants was struck out for want of locus standi and jurisdiction and also for being an abuse of court process which robbed the trial court of jurisdiction to adjudicate on the matter.
• There is misleading news circulating in social media, print and electronic media that Martins Amaewhule & 26 others are members of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Rivers State House of Assembly.
• As you all know, Martins Amaewhule and 26 others defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress on the 11th Day of December, 2023 and stated that much in affidavit evidence deposed to by Martins Amaewhule for himself and on behalf of 26 others in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/1681/CS/2023 before Hon. Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division. The Suit is still pending in court.
• By section 272(3) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, it is only the Federal High Court that can determine whether Martins Amaewhule and 26 others are still members of Peoples Democratic Party and also members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. This much was held by the trial court.
However, you will recall that these is a subsisting order of interlocutory injunction in Suit No. PHC/512/CS/2024 restraining Martins Amaewhule and his co-travelers from further parading or presenting themselves as law makers in Rivers State pending the determination of the substantive suit, which has not been appealed against till date.
• We urge the public to disregard the news presently making rounds in social, print and electronic media to the effect that Martins Amaewhule and 26 others have been declared as members of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Rivers State House of Assembly. This is very misleading to be honest. At first we were made to believe that the Abuja High Court lacks jurisdiction on this matter. Now that the State High Court has given judgement, the AG of Rivers State is reminding us of the case in Abuja. What makes him think that the judgement in Abuja will say otherwise!!!! Governor SIM said he did not buy his SAN, I hope this will not his first case to lose as AG of the State? |

Asking for 250k is not realistic in our economy.
You will see the mother of all wars with the Governors. NLC can bully FG but when it comes to the state Governors, they chicken out.
FG can only pay based on the money available, unless NLC wont mind if workers are sacked. If you were the FG what minimum wage would you propose to pay given the economic challenges and outline the template you used in arriving at that MW? Please just envisage an individual without any dependants. |

By the time the case will be over, his tenor would have come to an end. It's not a must to be governor for two tenures. Even if this case gets to the Supreme Court, it will do over within one year. This case and the autonomy of the LGA will go hand in hand. Judgement will come forth and those found wanting will be looking for sympathy when the time arises and before then, it would be late. |
