freakyprince05:Boss prepare to change tranny |
freakyprince05:Boss run a scan, but from your narration that is either your valve or your tranny is gone |
dare01:Nope. It was corrected after that. |
Car Overheating Issue I have a 2006 Toyota Camry with an overheating issue that the owner can’t solve. It started overheating 3 days ago, He drove it home and he started hearing a weird noise under the hood and almost like the car was revving on its own. That day was the 1st day it overheated. Smoke coming from radiator reservoir and somewhere in the engine near the middle of the serpentine belt area. The next morning he turned it on, it turns on rough as hell and has a check engine light that reads P0300 and P0117. First thing he did was to replace that ECT sensor but not sure if it did anything because he followed an online forum process without understanding the intricacies of a car cooling system. That doesn’t solve his problem, still overheats. Next he drained the coolant and refilled it with new coolant but when he open the reservoir for the 1st time he notice that the cap has white wet sludge on it and the tank is covered with it too, he still went ahead and put on new coolant. Continues the overheating. He replaced the thermostat, bled it and topped it off with more coolant. This time around the car is leaking coolant from underneath. Starts to sound normal but when he goes for a drive it it still continues the overheat with smoke still coming from the reservoir. He has no clue what it is. Not sure if the fans are working. But thought it’s a bad water pump? But could it also could be a blown head gasket maybe? SOLUTION I was called to run a comprehensive diagnosis on the said car and those codes pop up, P0300 & P0117, with further investigation and from narration of the owner. P0300 – Toyota Camry – Random Cylinder Misfire P0117 – Toyota Camry – Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input There are couple of other things that was checked and I move to start correcting each issue individually to eliminate issues of overheating. First off was the Multiple Cylinder misfire, checking the plugs and Coils was kind of faulty in the sense of the coil melting with the plugs partially. Then went ahead to check the nozzle which was ok but I perform a normal servicing. The plugs and coils was replaced. Also the ECT sensor was replaced also and the radiator was just condemned due to multiple point of leakage. And it was replaced with a new one. From this point the car cooling system was bled and still went on to overheat it was at this point I concluded changing the Gasket to help both the owner and I from back and forth issues. After the change of gasket the Oil Control valve too was replaced to eliminate the P0300 code. The car came up smoothly and the overheating issue was resolved totally

ikdaddy01:Like I said the decision falls on your shoulder. You asked for opinion and I gave it sir. |
somehow:Let me start by Highlighting the major or common issues Highlander 2008 Major Engine Issues *Engine Knock or Rattke sound *Rubber oil Line broke * Timing cover Leaks Oil *Camshaft Bolt Loose damage engine *Engine Crank but will not start *car idles fine but refuse to accelerate * Oil leaks no warning Light *Engine Misfire Transmission Issues *Transmission Failure *Whinning Noise And the interior issues from CD player not working or aux not working to power window button just stop working without prior notice. The brake system too has some issues to deal with. FORD EDGE 2010 Engine issues * Engine Stalls and shut down *Car loses power without warning Transmission Issues *Makes Noise and jerking when Accelerating *PTU Fluid leaking *Faulty brake booster *Not too common is the car rolling back when in park position And other interior issues like the electrical wiring. TOYOTA CAMRY 2012 Engine Issues *Foul Smell When You Turn On AC *Water Drains Into The Vehicle And Caused Mold *A/C Compressor Failed *A/C Rattling Noise Transmission Issues *Transmission Failure - Slipping out of gear, Stuttering And some few ish about power door control and the radio screen going blank. Finally about the ground clearance evening if you are going for CAMRY you can always change the rim to a bigger 1 and tyre too The decision finally rest on you |
SilverNorGold:Where were you when SARS was killing innocent citizens? Where were you when the police shot people because of 50 naira? Where were you when police brutalized innocent hustlers? Where were you during the APO killing? And many I can't get to now, stop picking up phone to type rubbish. Apart from common sense we all would agree you lack, what other sense are you lacking? |
johnonuh:There is something called OCV, check it or prolly run a scan which is likely to pop up multiple cylinder misfire code |
davit:No 6 is my favourite and most comfortable position. But 3 and 9 is the best position in case of emergency to take control. |
pope191:We fit call am BlackWhite |
Transmission The tranny issues are quite time consuming and stressful until you have gotten to the root. I have to work on a CRV tranny of recent and while diagnosing it came up with just one issue, it doesn't engage in reverse and on the scanner there was a shift malfunction error code. The tranny was brought down and dismantle to change the fibre and the switches on the tranny and finally the reverse was working perfectly after the rewire went as far to check some wiring issues. The easiest way with a tranny issues are with the Valve body for toyota and honda is quite complex with the valve on it. The shift Malfunction deals with the two Solenoid or switches placed on the tranny *Image below*.

IkpuMmadu:God bless you. The crankshaft Position sensor is your problem change it and you will thank me |
radautoworks:Now you are right, the mentality or the unfortunate circumstances in Nigeria here is that, the multitude of car owner are bunch of professor by mouth, idiot by nature. Imagine analysing the purpose of a thermostat to a man that claim to be ajala travel and the big guy was telling me, it is only useful outside the country a big man as claimed for that matter. Or telling a senior banker that the tyre pressure sticker on the door of his camry was meant to be followed and can you guess his reply? That will be too low let the tyre Technician gas 50PSI. I was perplexed and flabbergasted. A medical doctor once had a bad engine and he called me to check after all was done, I asked this man to buy OCV and the car will be ok? This dude went and give it to another mech who went as far as bringing down the engine based on say the mech toast am say na to resurface the face of the cylinder, at the end mama na another engine solve d matter oooo So madam some time the mentality a mech don give dem when Beetle was still reigning was the same mentality they are stuck with. So how do you think they won't buy engine and the driving pattern of some big sissy claiming Jame Bond is another issue of how long you want your engine to last |
