I thought the 3 months health insurance was compulsory?
No, health insurance cover is not compulsory. It is advisable though if a family member(s) has a health condition that can be pricey to manage.

Long Post Alert
I was scheduled to fly with BA on Thursday Sept 14,2017.
Plan was to leave the house 4.30am and get to the airport for 5am unfortunately the cab man did not come on time. I got to the airport with 7 bags.

Lesson point
1.Get an accurate scale and do not exceed your 23kg
Don't be late to the airport. Try get there at least 2 hours before the official check in time. This will give you enough time to catch your breathe after moving plenty bags

2. Do not fly BA if you know you have load because airport purchase was charged 210 dollars even though website said 200

3.Don't buy your ticket from Agents especially travelstart, if you can help it (Though they get you cheap fares and options) because when complications like this arises, carrier, will say get in touch with Agent

4. If you know you will have extra luggage, just buy online, that 20% discount makes alot of sense. 600 Dollars became 490 Dollars.

5. In every situation, always see the good side. Myself and someone I met on this forum are already planning on the implementation of our business line. Watch out.

6. There is a 15k discount code on travelstart TSLIL15000. You can use it if your are yet to book your ticket. Thank me later.
Cheers Folks
Welcome to Canada smiley Glad to know you finally made it home.

Pls what are d have job opportunities in Canada and prospects of making good money.
You can assess job opportunities by checking job sites to see vacancies available in your occupation. Try the Job Bank, LinkedIn, Monster.ca, indeed.ca, Workopolis, Glassdoor.ca etc

The prospects of good money depends on your work experience, skillset and level of preparation for job search. The good jobs are there, that can't be denied but it is wether you can convince an employer that you are a proper fit is the 'koko' as our people say. All the best ahead.

Hey guys,
Please i would like to know, on what circumstances is one allowed use the "two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees?" because i did some trainings and was issued certificates on QHSE. i would like to know if i can use these certificates and claim points from that option between Bsc and Msc from education on CIC tool.
Anyone with ideas on this? Please help. thanks.
Only if these certifications are recognized as being equivalent to a Canadian certificate and indicated as such on your ECA, can you claim any points for them. The ECA will show if they are equal to either a Canadian diploma, bachelor or master degree, if not, they will score NIL.

Just wondering, is it possible that having any visa refusal in the past for either PA or the spouse can make one to be stuck at NA2.
If the visa was not refused for a criminality or security issue, it wont be a problem or cause of delay.

Thank you for the response. I have no prior contact. I suggest you check in Part 1 of this thread where some people have graciously shared the contact details of reliable persons So I will just walk in. What docs should I hold going there? Your international passport and 4 passport pictures Can I do on behalf of my spouse too? No, usually your spouse will have to show up in person for fingerprint capture. But I understand with some $$ incentive, they may accept her fingerprints which you would have lifted prior If yes, what should I hold if I am going there? Any idea of the price range? Depending on your approach and bargaining power, it ranges from N3,500 to N10,000 each. Heard people are paying as high as N15,000 in Abuja and Port Harcourt. This is why I advise you find and use a contact that people here have used before to avoid getting your 'head shaved'

Hello, I want to ask about naija PCC.

Is it just a walk-in process to Alagbon?
Or there is a number to be called before going there?

Anyone done it before? Abeg what is the process ?
It's walk in, in fact from the gate of the Finger print section at Alagbon, Lagos, some police guys will start to canvass you to assist you get it done. But if you have obtained a contact there, you could ahead make to make an appointment with the person and not spend time waiting in case they go out.

Hi Fam, for those that landed in Ontario, how do you handle the 3 months wait for OINP health insurance ? Reason I ask is that I am coming with a toddler and an infant who are allergic esp to cold. Just wondering how much private insurance would cost for the period.
Hi, no one is allergic to cold so I guess you mean susceptible smiley but your point is well noted. I also have a child who is prone to colds though at 4 years when we came, we knew that keeping him warmly dressed is the key. He has experienced two winters now and he is the strongest of us in that he can't wait to go and play outside in the dead of winter no matter how cold. After dressing him appropriately, I just sit down inside and watch him from the window. My skin 'forbids' the cold unless absolutely necessary for me to go outside. We only came with 1 dose of malaria medicine each for the whole family, 1 set of worm expellers as well as paracetamol to enable us cope with the change of environment and to combat the initial stress due to the relocation/travelling. I came in June and fortunately, we didn't need the drugs ever which I later threw out. It's not advisable for everybody to do without insurance like me especially when you know your own personal situation. For you, I would say talk to your current insurance provider for a suitable insurance cover then also talk to and compare with IGI, Mansard to name a few as I know they have such products. Based on your research, you can make an informed choice. All the best.

Hi Blackbuddy,

Trust you're doing very fine.

Wanna quickly give you a hint about my profile & I'd appreciate your recommendations on my eligibility for Canada express entry.

- B sc. Materials Engineering, second class upper 83% You need to get this evaluated to ascertain if it equivalent to a Canadian degree http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp#designated and to know how much points you can get for education http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp
- Presently a Masters student (Metallurgy), at the University of Johannesburg (Scholarship) - To be wrapped up in 2018 This degree will give a big boost to your profile when completed and you have the certificate. You might want to hold on to take advantage of the extra points it will give you
- 1.5years work experience as an Associate Piping Engineer with good touch of Project Management as well in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Currently, you will get points for one year of working experience if you can obtain a reference letter from your employer for it. read here, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp
- Moderate Leadership skills with some awards as well
- Good knowledge of Primavera P6 Project schedule software
- IELTS (Academic) 7.0 IELTS academic test is not acceptable/can not substitute for IELTS general test. You will need to take the right test and ensure you score 8, 7, 7, 7 for listening and the other sections of the test respectively to get the maximum English proficiency points
- Age: 25 Good age, as a single applicant it will get you the maximum 110 points
- Project management professional (PMP) certification in view

Your prompt response would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Niyi.

Please canny folks I was doing some research on CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS AT UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY. please I need some input from those who might have done such or have idea of such:
1. Are these certification programs recognized, promising and available for migrants to apply for . Please qualify your question: Recognized by whom? I'm guessing you mean employers in which case you should first check which jobs require the certification and if it is a compulsory requirement or just nice to have. In any case, certificates from that school are accredited and yes, as a Permanent resident, you may pursue the certifications if you meet admission requirements

2) can immigrants apply without going through English test since we went through it during the EE process. Don't forget you used IELTS general test and not academic test for immigration purpose. They are not the same and can not substitute for each other. Certificate courses usually have their admission requirements published on the school website and that is the best place for you to know their specific requirements including English proficiency though my cursory research just know showed that some of them waive English language test if it is your first language. Check for your desired course to be sure, https://conted.ucalgary.ca/certificates/ .
Hi, see my opinions above. Hope it helps.

Good day good people,I would appreciate job websites where C.V can be submitted while in Canada or even here, prior to traveling,am an accounting graduate,ICAN,CISA and I have banking experience
Hi, please note you need to adopt resume and not C.V style when posting your profile to Canadian job search sites. Some sites you could consider are indeed.ca, monster.ca, eluta.ca. Glassdoor.ca and also LinkedIn. You can find samples of live resumes on their sites and Monster even has templates that can guide you in creating yours. I would say try to strike a balance between using the template and learning from the content of what Canadians have in their resume. Study as many job postings as you can to learn and use the language that Canadian employers use to describe job roles so you can adopt accordingly. The more your resume resembles what Canadian employers are looking for, the more you are likely to get their attention. Drop any phrase or language in your resume you don't find in Canadian job vacancies. By the time you study about 50 to 80 job roles and resumes, you will get the drift. All the best.

Please help with this - For someone who has worked at a SINGLE company for 2years and 8months, is that enough to claim points for 3yrs work experience OR does it have to be a WHOLE 3yrs, i.e full 36month to be able to claim points for 3yrs?

Thanks for your help.
Hi, as just stated in response to you, that's less than 3 years. You must have 36 months of work experience or more to claim points for 3 years.

Please I will be landing in toronto on 26th september. Which type of clothing is adivsble to come with at that time? Thermal or winter jacket? Shoes? Head warmer? Etc. Please advise a sister.
For your trip, you can wear light sweaters or cardigans from Nigeria but pack your winter jacket on top of your luggage. This is because you need your hands free to carry your hand luggage and it might be too warm to dress up in them but once you land, you can retrieve your winter jackets/head warmer/neck scarves at baggage claim and wear if it's a really cold day. If it's not that cold, you can put them back on top of your luggage. Canvas or tennis shoes are okay, you won't be doing any trekking and ice might not have formed at that time of the year on the streets. A taxi or your host will get you to your destination from the airport. Have a safe trip.

I've heard about this. The firms link is:

http://esq6travels.com/joboffer/

http://esq6travels.com

Their forms claims they are representing a recruitment firm in Canada:

http://elbfirm.com

I have two friends who have put in for this through the and this is the 6th month, thus far they have tracked their application on http://elbfirm.com they have been offered two openings each in two locations in Canada to choose from. They are awaiting final approval of the selected choice and also to receive offer Letter.

I'm following them on the process to see what comes out of it.

Below are some screenshots of the process one of them shared with me.

They are both in the construction field as I am, so they are going in for Construction Foreman jobs.

I'm also interested but I want to see the outcome of theirs.

Also this ESQ6 company office exist.

Let's all see what comes out of this.
Thanks for sharing this. A search on ICCRC registry for registered consultants turned up no result for ELB, the named firm in Canada. A search on BBB also showed turned up nothing. That being said, it would be nice to know the outcome of the process for your friends.

You are correct that using yor AirBnB address isnt wise as that is a temporary address and who knows who will be occupying the address when your PR card arrives there. Your PR card should be handled like a security document so the AirBnB address is not advisable, rather give the address of a Canada based family member or friend who can be trusted to get it across to you.

The ability to be bilingual is nice to have especially for customer facing jobs but not a deal breaker. It does not place a cap on your abilities and opportunities as not all Canadians themselves are bilingual. The majority are English speakers like you.

Hi my Seniors in the house. Thanks everyone for your good work. God bless our hustle. Please do we have any pharmacists in the house. I already landed in Canada, Brampton, Ontario to be precise. Any tips on obtaining licensing. Also some fellow colleagues here advised not to work yet but focus on prep for exams as it will not be easy combining with work and kids( i have 2- 5yrs and 22months). Whats your take on this. Pls help
I'm not a pharmacist but I can share a tip concerning combining work and preparing for licensing exams via study. Settling into a new country can be quite stressful if combined with the care of young children. I landed with my wife and kids who are older than yours but it was not easy initially. Here, you depend on just yourself to do home chores, care for kids and hustle to get set to find an income source so I have an idea what lies ahead of you. No matter how much cash you come with, it can not take away the urge to go out and hustle and save your converted naira.

So it boils down to how you can cope as an individual with caring for your family and trying to make the most your time to get set for your licensing AND ALSO working, wether part time or full time. It's wisdom you heard when you were advised to focus on your licensing for now, by the time the kids needs finish with you, you might not have the strength to add 'yes sir, no sir' as per job to the mix. But it remains your choice, if you feel you can cope, by all means chase your dream.

PS. I know a health administrator here who may be able to put you in touch with a practising pharmacist. We both live in Brampton and if you're interested in meeting him, do send me private message for this. All the best ahead.
