Faky201: What if it's a gift deed from a parent To be honest and looking from the perspective of past experiences, Nigerians are not known to use gift deed for POF. This is a new practice our people are copying from other VOs so it's a bit of a grey area. And because the applicants using it is on the rise, we are seeing a lot more requests for clarification on source of POF from AVO. The use of gift deed is a delicate situation which should be approached on a one-on-one basis and not the copy paste that a lot people are doling now. That being said, a nice looking scenario would be for the applicant to provide say, around 80% of the POF and then make up the balance through gift deed. This looks good an paper especially as the applicant is supposed to be an 'experienced skilled' worker who has the capacity to have built up the funds from years of working. Go back and look at the profiles of people who passed through the PR process successfully, you'll see that what a good number of them have in common is that their past income makes sense for them to have the POF they presented. A situation where somebody who is supposed to be an experienced skilled worker is presenting POF that is composed of 80% or more from a gift and only 20% or less from their past work income, ofcourse you can expect questions during processing. This is just an opinion please but a point to ponder for someone out there. I'm sure that someone who successfully used gift deed can tell us what percentage of their gift deed made up their POF and how much they personally contributed from their income/savings, this would be nice. Hope this makes sense. |

Ayoola03: Hello house,i will be traveling soon coz am on study permit, i really need your advice on which one is much more better and preferable (base on experience) btw purchasing a laptop in Nigeria or in canada (considering cost). initially, i was thinking of buying it in canada wen i get there because i feel buying it in Nigeria will add to my luggage weight. On the other hand,i am getting more confused hearing people talk about how crazy they pay tax on every purchased goods in canada. please gurus in the house i need your advice oo and i mean a very good laptop not less than #200k here in naija thanks I think it's more economical to buy the laptop in Nigeria, it's a crazy reality. When you compare prices in Nigeria to those in Canada, Nigerian prices are really competitive and reasonable. As for luggage weight, I advise you carry your laptop in your hand luggage and have it with you so you don't fall into the unfortunate situation of having it stolen in transit. Sadly, this is a risk of air travel across multiple transit points. Most of us just put our laptops in our carry-on, backpacks or rucksacks. If they (awon boys) want the laptop, they have to steal you too. Just make sure you have no pornography or questionable materials in your laptop in case of random customs search. America has taught us to be careful what you download and keep in your laptop and phone when you travel across borders, smh. |

bee4blues: Good Day People,
I'm New here and i need to have a detailed understanding of what the process is about before applying for the express entry program.
I am 21 years old and a Lawyer by profession. My overall IELTS result was 8.5 and i have a spouse/partner (25 years). She is a biochemist.
We both graduated about the same time and got a low paying job. The economic situation in Nigeria is a reason for this.
We both have two years of work experience with a Net income of 50k naira monthly each, averaging about 600k Naira a year per person. However we plan to show we have financial sustenance of CAD 15k through our Fixed Deposit Certificate. Oh I didn't mention that my cousin is a permanent resident in canada and this was how he processed his (The Fixed Deposit Certificate).
By calculation, our CRS score is about 455 (Maybe Above). My questions are:
1. Is it better i apply alone or with my spouse? For married couples, your spouse must be included in your application even if the person is not accompanying you initially when you plan to land. Every member of a family, i.e., husband, wife and their kids must be captured in the application, one person is the primary applicant and the rest are the dependents. Any one not captured in the application as at submission time up till the successful processing of the application and issuance of PR visa can never be added on later. The primary applicant even risks revoke of the PR status if this is the case
2. Would it be a problem on how our salary doesn't translate to what we have in the fixed deposit? Is my monthly salary too little? Is it a justification for issuance or denial? By asking this question, you already know the answer sir. The total yearly family income and the number of years experience don`t jive for that amount of fixed deposit. This is sincere opinion, not in any way meant to belittle your desire or discourage you. By the time the average person substracts your cost of living from your income, that amount for FD for a family of 2 is not plausible. You will have to think of a suitable explanation for the FD, not using your income as the source alone.
3. Is the fixed deposit the best way to go about this? or we get a notarized gift deed? Your second option for a portion of the POF is better. You need to be seen to have something to bring to the table too then the rest can be added to make the FD
4. What is the Best advise you have for us on this? Hi, see above. Hope it makes sense. |

Faky201: will you need additional docs. like d bank statement. what if someone transfers to the spouse and then it is transferred to the PA, would LOE suffice? Of course you should be prepared to evidence the source of the funds. The fact that you are routing it from someone to wife to PA may raise questions though so be prepared with a good explanation if they ask to know the origin of the funds. LOE does not always answer the concern of the reviewing officer, you should prepare adequate explanation and evidence of source. |

czaratwork: I need some input here. I am a chartered accountant ACCA working in a bank here in Nigeria and about to relocate to Canada. I also studied Computer science first degree and has done nothing with the degree except to gather some certifications, In the course of doing one of the certifications, i realised my area of interest is IT security ad it is also a lucrative emerging area in IT.
Now I want to fully understand and practice IT security without recourse to my ACCA certification but people are advising me otherwise. That i should move from known to unknown. This is sound advice as Canadians will not readily consider you if you lack requisite work experience and you need to consider that the experience you have is foreign. It would be a good idea to get a foot in the door first based on your prior experience then once settled begin to work your way towards your desired path That i should first use my ACCA to get their CPA/CGA and get job while working towards my IT security career. This is okay and you can even consider transferring your accounting experience into opportunities in banking, finance and insurance. Insurance is a good career here unlike in Nigeria where it can be challenging
Please i need advise from people in these field and which city can i find both opportunities. Anywhere there are people earning money, you will need people with finance experience. This means you could settle anywhere especially where you have a support base like family and friends to help with your transition as a newcomer. If you're like me who is not concerned about having friends or family close by but more concerned with higher likelihood of career success, then you should target where there are the most opportunities. For me with my banking and finance background, the obvious choice was Ontario where you have the financial capital which is Toronto that also has a vibrant tech and IT sector. The move paid off for me and my wife as we both good jobs based on our prior experience, we didn't need to do any certification or go back to school. I picked off right from where I was in my career and am a people manager in a top 5 bank here. I researched which job opportunities were available through LinkedIn and other job boards, studied the job requirements till I understood them, networked with people working in that field, meeting them and discussing their experience/tips and incorporated all my findings into my own job search after attending a specialized training program for internationally skilled newcomers. With focus and determination, God did it for me and can equally do it for you
Thank you Hi, see my reply above. Hope it assists you. |

Thank you The original receipt you got when you purchased the asset is proof that it was yours. The receipt you issued when you sold that asset evidences you have sold it. These are a starting point then other documents that are obtainable include certificate of ownership, proof of transfer of ownership, bill of sale etc |

gogedda: We dey follow una for back, it is quite sad that I had a poor result in the ielts we did on May 25th..LRWS.. 6.5,6,7.5,7....am still surprised about the reading aspect... I am intending to write another one in July.
This is my questions, I intend to buy Tbills with my proposed POF, that money has been sitting in that account for long, I want to make money from it.. My question is thus..
1) if I buy Tbills with the POF what evident can I use to proof that the POF is mine and not arranged..i understand some banks doesn't give Tbills Cert again. I intend to use Stanbic The bank has to give some form of documentation, evidencing that part of your deposit was applied towards purchasing the t-bills. This documentation or certificate, whatever form it takes with the savings/current account statement showing the debit to your account can suffice
2) I transferred the money from Bank A which is my major acc to Bank B because I didn't want to blow the money, now I want to transfer it to Bank C for Tbills purpose because of high interest rate. When the time comes to show POF, will I need to submit all the 3 banks acc statements to show how I got the money It depends on the application review officer. To be on the safe side, obtain the account statements that show the flow of funds through the 3 banks and that way you are prepared for evidence of fund origin questions
Pls house I need answers to these questions so I can prepare for when I will need to show the POF.. Hi, see above. |

BTYL: Guys,
please I need your advice. My wife works in a school as a teacher but she is been paid by hand and she is the PA.
what documents do we need to present to justify her work experience. though, the school is more than ready to provide the necessary employment reference letter and her employment letter is equally available. your advice is highly required. Thanks In addition to her employment letter and a reference letter stating how much she is paid and the fact that it is in cash, you can add her account statement showing where she banks her salary after collecting. Of course as a skilled, experienced working professional, she wont have been keeping her cash salary in her matress so you can preempt the Visa Office request for her bank statement and present about 6 months statements showing the money she pays in and the POF for the family. This will go a long way to put the review officer at ease and put you in a good place with the application. |

chimah3: How does one qualify for a mortgage in Canada??
Senior colleagues please!!! Once you have a steady source of income, you have crossed a major hurdle. Then you need your equity or down payment. You can bring as low as 5% with the balance coming from your bank as the mortgage. Some people bring as much as 90%, depending on your financial capacity. You need to have a healthy credit score above 600 to be considered which is good rreason to have little other credit exposure and pay back your credit bills promptly. |

I would like to confirm the no of baggage for Egypt Air, on their website it's quite difficult to decipher, it's stated max weight is 23kg per bag for economy but I could get this question answered "how many". I'm planning on going 3-4bags.is this achievable? It's 2 bags of 23kg each per passenger for most international airlines including Egypt Air. |

toyogirl: Yeah right, I love your closing sentence.....lol...Thanks for the tips! One more thing, I tried reading up on PLASP website but cdnt find info on how/if school buses are functional in the peel region...how do you manage this? If we can't get a car immediately and the kids need to go to school, do we go the public transit route or??
Lastly, in your opinion, what part of 'Sauga city would you suggest a new immigrant settled in, at least initially?
Thanks! There are school buses in Peel Region which encompasses Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon. But the use is limited by age of the child and distance of the child's home from school. Most kids walk to school since there is a close by school designated for each neighborhood. If the school in your neighbourhood has a huge population then they will have more buses in their fleet and accommodate more people but if it's a smaller school, then younger children/physically challenged have priority. There are private bus companies however you can sign up with to pick up and drop off your kids for a fee if the regular school bus can't accommodate them. Mississauga is a relatively safe city due to its family oriented nature, the neighborhoods are very okay and it is your budget that determines where you can find a place. The higher the rent you're paying, the better the neighborhood and features of the accommodation just like in Nigeria. The lower the rent, then you will likely be looking at low income neighborhoods just like in Nigeria. There is always a trade off to consider. So when you land, I suggest you cast your net wide and not restrict yourself to a particular area but take nearness to a shopping mall for groceries. nearest to a bus stop, clinic etc at least until you get a car. |

toyogirl: Nice! @ blackbuddy. ..Thanks for this.....I have a friend who landed in June 2016. ...but he said he cdnt get an apartment where he could pay monthly because he was new and didn't have any credit score, so he had to pay 1 year lease @ $1,400 CAD a month for 2 bedroom in 'Sauga. We're seriously considering Mississauga as well, so I'm wondering, is there a way around the credit score thingy as regards getting a rented apartment & paying monthly? Of course with like the 1st and last month deposits as well.. Yes, it's true that some landlords and buildings managers will ask for credit history and to see your Canadian job payslips before they will rent a unit to you. I encountered that problem as well but I simply moved on to the next address on my list until I found a building where they waived those requirements after they met I and my wife. The building manager saw that I and my wife were experienced professionals, people who could settle down quickly. It is all about how you carry yourself. We told her we have enough money to pay our rent and with our experience can find something reasonable to do and earn a living, she just said bring 3 months rent. We ended up giving only 2 months, first and last and that was it for our 1 year lease. If one door closes, another must open but you must keep moving to find the open doors. It was from that apartment I moved into my own house. God is good, He can do all things and He is in Canada. |

oohunt: I am opening another thread about life in Canada for immigrants or Permanent Residents.
I am one of the lucky ones to have been invited (ITA) to apply for PR. I have never been to Canada before. And I will like to prepare myself and my family for this major CHANGE.
Let this thread be an avenue for people that immigrated to Canada (with their families) to share their experiences and help newbies not to make mistakes.
Kindly share your experiences and comments on:
* When you landed at the airport? June 2015 * What are the immigration rules to follow? Very seamless process which begins right in the plane as you approach Canada. The flight attendants will give you landing cards to fill with your details and once you and your family proceed for screening with immigration and customs officers at the airport. This is where you declare all cash on you and on rare occasions, may be asked to show your proof of funds. Like I said, very rare but be prepared to show your cash and your bank statement for the balance. Your entry visa is voided, your COPR is stamped and you submit an address to which they post your PR cards later. You should get those in 30 to 60 days * How do you carry all that cash with you? For example: a family of 5 will need $25,923. I came with a family of five and landed with cash. I had shared the funds into 2 halves. I gave half to my wife to keep on her person and put the other half in my pockets. I declared just mine and nobody searched us. Don't be cared by all that talk on line forums that people will small the money on rob and rob you. If God can cause you to get PR, he can cause you to land here without issues. I believe your faith and disposition matters. For all lot of you who have not travelled out before, there is no need to be jittery. Just be relaxed and answer all questions. Immigrants land everyday and the airport officials are trained to be welcoming and accommodating so behave like the PR that you are * Which province did you settle in and why.I settled in the GTA - Greater Toronto Area. Toronto is the financial capital of Canada and both I and my wife come from a banking and finance background. All the banks and major FIs have their head offices in Toronto, the major corporations and big employers all have a presence across the GTA. The GTA is bigger/more populous than the whole of Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan combined and the bulk of infrastructure and opportunities are here so naturally, this is where we ought to be. A lot of people feel that because there are many people here, they may not be able to compete. But having been born, lived and worked in Lagos, I know crowd can not stop a determined and focused person from succeeding. Infact, if you can come and prove your self, the world is yours. I've also lived and worked in Abuja, Kaduna, PH, all over the East back home so I know that being where the action is can help those who are seeking to be lions in the jungle. The Toronto International airport is actually in Mississauga which is where we initially settled. * Where you live and why you like it or don't like it? I initially lived in Mississauga, the second largest city in the GTA after Toronto. I knew I would work in Toronto considering my professional background but I didn't want to raise my kids in the city proper. Toronto can be nice but as with all proper cities, it can be a rough place. For me with 3 young boys, ages 10 to 6, I know what city life can be at this tender age as I grew up with 4 brothers of my own back home. So I opted for Mississauga which has more of a suburban feel and family life is easier to experience. I landed and moved my family to a hotel for a while and took my time to find an apartment. You can check online on kijiji.ca and viewit.ca. There are also free newspapers and rental magazines available at every major bus stop and shopping mall so I used to check for where vacancies are. I called around, booked appointments to inspect and got a 2 bedroom apartment close to a shopping mall and clinic. This is key for young families especially before you buy a car so you don't have to go far to get most things for daily life Tips on choosing the right neighborhood, The truth is that you may not find what is exactly your spec in a short time. You might have to spend a good while to find accommodation that is to your liking but if time and budget is a constraint, you will just to have to take what you find if it is okay cos you don't want to be burning money on hotel bills or staying with relatives/friends where you can be an inconvenience. If you're like me who likes to respect himself, I stay with people a little and leave before they get tired of me so that mutual respect can be maintained. Get a list of available places, go and inspect, use your eyes to see the place then settle for the best among your choices and move on. You won't live there forever, it's only for a while. I lived in my apartment for a year and moved to my own house in Brampton, the 2nd largest city in the GTA mortgage plans, Once you land a good job, you can begin to think about mortgage. Those who have a good source of income from back home like a business, or high paying job can also consider getting a mortgage. better to pay for a house you own than paying rent on someone else's house. That's just my thinking please. With 5% to 20% of the cost of a property as down payment, you are ready to start checking things out. Always bill your bills on time especially your credit cards, this is how to develop a good credit score ahead of when you need a mortgage. Don't collect credit card with big limits from your bank even when they offer it. Take a card with reasonable limit, make your purchases and expenses with it and pay back on time. As you do this regularly and consistently, the system recognizes you for this and your score increases, this make banks want to advance you more credit in the form of mortgage. He who is faithful in little, will receive more proximity to work etc. Where you live and where you work is not a big deal because most cities have a good transport system so it matters not where you live in relation to where you work. When you land, you will see your mates living at a place like Ikeja and working in Ajah because their home is in a family friendly neighborhood with lots of green space but working a distance away. My joy today is seeing my kids playing in my back yard while I am weeding my wife's tomato and pepper garden. I can go and work in the city, drive to the station, take the train to work and get back home daily. That's what most of us do, live in the suburbs and work in the city. No big deal at all. When we landed, my wife got her current job close to our apartment so she was fortunate that she can drive out in the morning, drop the kids in the neighborhood school and get to work all in 7 minutes. So it can work both ways, near or far. Focus on getting a good job and finding a good, affordable neighborhood to live. They do not have to be in close proximity, it is getting a good income that matters more * How easy was it to settle in, with your kids? The kids will settle down faster than you, don't worry your head about them. Those ones will be Canadians while you are still battling with your native accent here. I am yet to see one person complain that their kids don't like this place even with the cold weather, for them it is a continuous adventure. You should focus yourself on getting settled professionally, once you have a good source of income, you can afford to enjoy this place, provide well for your family without waiting for benefit payments from government. The way to go is to work your way towards that point where you don't need subsidy payments from government because your own income level is high How did you go about finding the right schools for them? There is a public and Catholic school in every neighborhood in every major city and I'm talking standard schools. Just get your apartment/accomodation first then you go to the school in your neighborhood to register them. You can only register in the school in your neighborhood, your catchment area, unless you put your kids in private school where you pay fees in another neighborhood. The public schools are free, funded from our taxes and you can find am after school study centre in your neighborhood to get your kids extra lessons. That's what the Indians, Chinese etc do and their kids are shining here, getting into universities not colleges. Universities are higher ranked than colleges, a lot of people don't know that this dichotomy also exists here. It is not so openly obvious but at higher levels of decision making, university grads are preferred to those who went to mere colleges so target a university future for your kids and save for it accordingly What is their school system like for toddlers (age 5 and below)? Once your kid is 4 or 5 years, depending on the province, you register them for nursery school, kindergarten as described above * Can a mother combine work and taking care of the kids with the husband being in Nigeria? It depends on you and what exactly you want to do. It's not easy but people are doing it. Since my family and your family is different, we all cope differently. If you start it and can't cope, you stop. If you find you can cope, you continue and think of moving up, getting something better as the kids grow. No point dwelling on this, find where you fit in and face your front. For me, my kids are big boys, they could stay home alone right from Nigeria, they were the ones even taking care of my maid, showing her what to do so I have no problem with them. My wife has been working from when we landed so life goes on * What culture shock have you experienced? Canadian politeness, wow. Even when they don't like you, they wont show it. Nice and polite to a fault, always well behaved as opposed to back home where we are direct and say what we mean. Here, you have to take things slower and read the hidden meaning in what is being said or discussed with you. Small talk is big here, small talk about the weather, sports, things to break the ice when meeting people but no personal questions. You don't ask questions like how was your night? That one is not your business at all, just stick with 'how are you and move on'. I was introduced to a new immigrant organization that helps experienced foreign professionals to integrate where we learned of the social and professional niceties and how to network our way into good jobs as opposed to only online applications. Check this link to learn more, http://accesemployment.ca/index.php/job-seekers * Tips on how to cloth and cope with the cold weather Weather is weather, even the Canadians don't like the cold weather so no point overflogging it. The key is to land here, buy the appropriate winter clothing for the season and dress in layers. With this, you'll be fine * Are there Nigerian food/restaurants etc? Are they very expensive? There are African and Asian shops in every major city that carry our local foods. Once you land, you will get to know them through your fellow naija and you'll be fine. Wether they are expensive is relative as what I find expensive, you may find cheap. Once you start earning dollars and have settled into a routine, those costs won't matter anymore. Nigerians have been landing and living here, we too will land and live in peace * Can one start a business (exportation, consultancy) in Canada? Ofcourse, all the African shops, Asian shops are owned by immigrants like you who came, found an opportunity and took it. You can find a line of business, do your research and take the plunge. Business is risky everywhere wether in Nigeria, USA, India or China, It is those who do their homework and keep at it that succeed. No other magic formula. Find the one your head can carry and face your front * How much does your family survive on in a month? It varies from city to city and from family to family. There is no template that fits all, just come with as much as you can, ask questions not from only Nigerians but from other nationalities. Review all the answers you receive and take the best course of action that fits your circumstance, don't measure yourself with your neighbor. Not everybody who is smiling has a full belly. Your major expense will be rent, followed by feeding then transport, wether by public transit or running your car. wether you are earning $1k or $10k, you will still face those expenses. It is only ehen you are spending from your settlement funds, the funds you brought from naija that you will feel it, When you start earning dollars, you'll adjust as not think twice about it. * And any other ... Who wil mingle with and mix with when you land will determine how far you will go and how well you will do here. Try to look for those who are doing well through honest means and emulate them. Because of the initial challenges in settling down, a lot of people are doling low level jobs and because it pays the bills, they stay at that level. If you're schooling and your schedule does not allow you work at a higher level, that's understandable. But I encourage people to pursue opportunities similar or close to where they were back home, if not higher. All you need to do is network with people working at that level and gain an understanding of what is required to find those fantastic opportunity. It is possible to land and find a job at managerial level and above. Some of us never worked in factory or supermarket, to God be the glory who ordered our steps into nice jobs. I believe others can do it too, just focus, be patient and believe
We are looking at settling in Calgary, Alberta, and will appreciate any advice at all.
Hello Justwise. Please consider the importance of a thread like this which is essential to prepare families. I opened a similar one in the past: https://www.nairaland.com/3273411/living-canada-life-canadian-immigrant. And you pointed me to the thread about "Students coping in Canada" which contains a lot of information focused on the life of a student. Similarly, the "Travel to Canada" threads contain guidance for applications. I think we need a thread that is not about application or education but about LIVING in Canada. Thanks. An interesting topic. Hope my 2 cents above helps someone out. |

You know that hundreds of people send documents to WES daily from all over the world so it takes a while to sift through all of them and update client accounts accordingly. Give them a little while to sort out their administrative stress, the important thing is that it has gotten to them. Update of account is not what you want, what you is need is the ECA, cheers. |

Aka2003: How do I write to them? Do I send it as a case specific enquiry? You can reply using the last email you received from them (attaching copies of everything), send a CSE and/or send copies of all the documents by courier. |

Aka2003: Gurus in the house please assist ooo, I just got a notification that my PR application was canceled as incomplete due to a missing police certificate from Nigeria. I submitted this police certificate along with other police certificates. What can I do about this? I do not know how they can cancel the application even when the police certificate was present there. If you're sure you submitted the police report with the fingerprint section attached, then write back to them stating you submitted a complete application. List every form and supporting document that you submitted to back up your position. |

vcole: @wunmi, you need to prioritize your immediate desires and ultimate goal. Your decision to get separated or divorced is a long term one that only you can decide. You are married at the moment and cannot at any point now or in the future apply as single. You would either apply as married, or legally separated or divorced. Unless you have a divorce settlement, you would be unable to apply under the category of divorced. As long as you have a spouse, whether accompanying or not, he is required by IRCC to obtain a medical report and police clearance as part of your application process. In my opinion, I think that if you do intend to migrate in the near future, it is easier to find a way around your domestic situation and get your spouse to get his medicals and pcc. I assume that if he intended to "illegally migrate" to the states then he really should have no squabbles supporting a Canadian pr app unless you are the one insisting that you would not list him as an accompanying spouse....In that case, he is sure to dig his heels in. So you need to decide if you wanna compromise now and get your ducks in a row and migrate or if you wanna wait until you obtain a divorce before you go ahead. Nothing stops you from getting separated or divorced after you have migrated. I recall there is a Nigerian immigration lawyer based in Toronto, he might be of assistance in giving advice on how best to navigate this situation. @Wunmi, I don't know him personally but I found his details online, you can contact him to seek his opinion, http://www.jblaw.ca/about-johnson-babalola.html |

percee17: Please I have a question. I have over 10 years work experience but unemployed for two years. Recent job started January this year with late payments effected last month. Now, I just secured a very good job to resume in July. How do I put this clearly in my profile especially because of the 2 years unemployment gap. Also, how do I explain the late salary payments with evidence. Will just LOE be sufficient? The way you explained it here is clear enough. You simply state you were 'between jobs'/unemployed for the 2 year period and then started a job in January as stated in your employment letter. It is not compulsory that every job must be on monthly salary basis, there may be extenuating circumstances such as probation period or trial period etc. Some jobs are on biweekly or quarterly payment structure so simply state the reason why your salary was paid the way it was paid in such a way that, if AVO decides to verify your explanation from the employer, the story will be found to be true. All this can be put down in your LOE and you can attach the employment letter, any payslips available and the salary account statement showing when the company made the salary payments. If the company can also give you a letter explaining why the salary payment was staggered, good and fine if not, don't stress it. Provide what you can and move on with your life. |

Beckyhopeful: Please my people kindly help me torchlight this matter. AOR is first week in May 2017.I want to resign from my current employment this month to do other personal stuffs.I am just wondering if CIC contacts my employers after I have resigned to know if I am their staff as I used them in my application.Am I just being paranoid. Hi, its okay to resign as your work experience up till when you entered the pool is what makes you eligible for consideration. So when you provide a reference letter from your employer that states you were a staff from say, January 2011 till April 2017 when you obtained the reference, your employer will respond to a reference verification request that indeed you were the staff for the period indicated in the letter. That is sufficient for PR application review process. Nobody expects you to remain with the employer forever, they just want to ensure that the employer details are genuine as at when you applied. You can choose to update AVO after you resign or just leave it at that, it's not a deal breaker. I've known people who changed jobs after submitting PR applications but did not update AVO since they did not leave the jobs on a sour note. AVO conducted their background checks and processed their applications to completion and they're here in Canada with me now, cheers. |

Austynodv: Hello my people in the house. I hope you are all keeping up real good. I need some advice from the gurus here please.
My occupation on my marriage certificate was generalized as 'Public Servant' whereas I have never been one. My occupation is Fleet manager and my previous occupation was Product coordinator, both of which are in the private sector.
Please how do I handle this discrepancy when submitting my documents as I am awaiting ITA?
Kindly advice please. Make enquiries from the issuing registry on the possibility of reissue of the marriage certificate with the occupation corrected. The earlier the better. |

Thanks for your response. The 2nd is the case. CIC states that unaccompanying minors or spouse must also do medicals. In this case the child won't be doing medicals to support their applicant. He wouldn't have mentioned the child if not that he has "Single with child" on his marriage certificate, you get?

After capturing the child's details that he has, he should state in the LOE that he is unable to perform medicals for the child due to the estranged nature of the relationship with the child's mother. This is an extenuating circumstance where the review officer will advise him of next steps directly at the appropriate time. It is not a reason for him not move on with his life, hope you understand. Let him do what he can and he will cross the bridge in due time. |
