For the address where the PR card is to be sent, must this be in the same province where you are registered? I wont be able to spend six weeks (which seems to be the earliest time that the PR card will be available), So i am wondering if i will have to land where i can get someone to forward it down.

Modified:
Example: Can I land in Calgary and give a mailing address in Ottawa?
If you land in Calgary and give the intake officials an address in Ottawa, there may be funny questions which I can't help you answer. You never know what goes on in the minds of this people at times and it's just common sense to avoid a scenario that leads to unnecessary questions. You can indicate to them instead that you will soon move from your friend's place to a place of your own in Calgary and would prefer the PR card to come to your address which you will indicate online once you settle down. This is a more satisfactory answer if you prefer this route. Then when you go online, affix your preferred Ottawa or any address which must be done within 180 days of your landing, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/changeaddress.asp

Hello wonderful people,
Please, does anyone know the Province I can get a job or nomination as a Meteorologist? Your response will be highly appreciated.
Try a simple sample check online on Canadian job sites like Indeed.ca to see where there is high concentration of such jobs like this, https://ca.indeed.com/Meteorology-jobs

Other popular jobs sites include Glassdoor, Workopolis, eluta and ofcourse LinkedIn.

For provincial nomination, you can check the websites of individual provinces to see where that occupation is in demand. The research will be good for you and expand your knowledge, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-who.asp

Thanks for all the wonderful posts so far. Very insightful. God bless u guys. My pr visa is valid till March and I would really love to hold on till January before I move. However impending school resumption in September for the kids and associated costs coupled with rent being due as early as December is making me consider leaving earlier. Please I'd like to get advice from someone who arrived canada with their family in the ember months. Bc to be precise. Was it easy getting the kids into school immediately or were there aNY special protocols to observe? As long as the kids are above 5 years old as at September 2017, they will be admitted to school. Check this link for info about BC elementary schools, http://www.learnlivebc.ca/learn/about-education-in-british-columbia Considering the earlier factors I stated should I wait till next yr (though I can move earlier but would love to do so in a more "tidy" fashion)? BC has better weather generally than most of Canada, the winters aren't so severe and trust me the children are more resilient here than you think. Our immigrant children actually adapt faster to the weather than we newcomer adults. I have 3 boys who can't wait to go and play in the snow during their school recess period in winter whereas I and my wife can't imagine what would possess us to ever play in snow, no matter how mild. I've seen people land in summer and I have seen people land in winter. The weather did nothing to lower the urge to go and out hustle. The key is to dress warm and plan your movements. Less sight seeing in winter but the hustle continues, that's all we care about and focus on Im trying to book our flight tickets so I'm really trying to avoid a situation where ill be pressed to reschedule at the last minute. Me and wifey can quit our jobs easy... nothing stopping us. However my pals over there say the cold might b a concern and d best apartments are taken before September by students... Good accommodation has always been a function of how much one can afford, anywhere, anytime. Just as in Naija, if you have the money you can find a great apartment in Ikoyi, Lekki or Maitama so also in London, New York, Milan or Aruba. What you should concern your self about is getting a quality place at an affordable rate, wether students are in school or not. Most students don't rent in family neighborhoods but close to campus so have no fear. Once you land, you will find a way just want to here some naija canadian tots on the matter
Hi, hope the above helps you out.

Hello house, I have noticed people hardly talk about London ontario, is the city that small and worst at the same time ? are there no job opportunities or other opportunities in London? Is london not too good to settle in? Please gurus in the house, I need more insightful views about London. I feel more anxious knowing people hardly talk about " experience in London". @blackbuddy @principessa0 @papaking1 @fussion and other gurus in the house, await your prompt response bosses. huh
Hi, to be honest, I have not met anyone who lives or works in London, ON in the 2 years I have lived in Ontario so I can't speak to the suitability of that place for new settlers. But that in itself, can give you an inkling that maybe it is not the best place for you as a newcomer as you might not find the sort of support system critical to your early success in settling down.

You might want to first of all land in a city that you may be able to find work opportunities basing your decision on your open internet research and the experience of others who have come here ahead of you. There must be a reason why everyone flocks to the cities that are more talked about and why no one has so far discussed London. If you are led, you may well be the first to go there and then come here to share the experience. My candid opinion, go first where Moses has gone and opened the way and gain some footing then you might later be the Jacob to try a neighboring land.

Many thanks. The plan is to do a soft landing towards end of the year...then make the move sometime next year (preferably when its a bit warmer). Is there a time of year when employment opportunities are more favorable?
No such time, just as businesses are expanding/reorganising every day, so also people are continually getting hired and sadly fired too. It's only in winter that outdoor, semi skilled work may slow down due to the inclement weather but for professional opportunities, these are always happening somewhere. It's just about being in the right place at the right time, that is, your application is received at the right time for you and God does what only He can do.

Thanks a lot!

One more question, the address you are to give for them to send the PR card, must you have it on hand at POE or can you update when one has settled down? If the latter..is there a cut off point to have it updated so it does not go beyond the six weeks?
No, you can update it later online. However if you fail to list the address on time, it delays the processing and receipt of your PR cards.

Just received my PP and COPR..FSW.
I know it has been said here that for FSW one can land anywhere except Quebec, but on the COPR, there is "Province of destination" and "City of destination" already filled out.

Please confirm this wont be an issue as we have already started researching other areas to land.

Thanks
It will not be an issue, you are free to land and settle anywhere else except Quebec. I had Calgary on mine but landed and stayed in Mississauga when I came.

Dear friends, I know this has been answered before but I checked and couldn't find it.

Please, do I need to show evidence of where I got the money to invest in T.bills. Eg, sale of vehicle?
Yes, it is advisable to obtain and keep evidence of any/all large inflow of funds into your account that serves as your POF. AVO has recently started requesting explanation of source of certain POF from Nigerians. I believe it has to do with the recent upsurge of fraudulent POF documents presented by applicants from Nigeria.

Hello everyone. New here!

This is such a great forum!
Question: for the POF, what if you do not have the money in cash or in your account. Can you also use your shares/stock in a foreign company to show POF or get a report from your stock broker showing that you have the equivalent amount required? Evaluation of shares/stock held is not accepted as POF at the Visa Office Or do you need to convert it to Naira and pay into account. Yes, you'll have to do that That would then indicate a big sum entering into the account and you would have to explain it. Yes, you will need to obtain and keep copies of your shares account statement with your stockbroker and the sale of shares documentation to evidence the source of funds in your bank account as your POF.
Hello, see above.

Good day House

Please can someone advise.

During my studies , i was working and the work experience falls under NOC A ,B, O and matches with what i studied.

However, my current job which i have been at for 3 years doesn't apply under N.O C.

will this be an issue when it comes to work experience , being that i haven't been active on the work experience acceptable under NOC

Please , help clarify.
If you can obtain an employer reference letter for the job you had while studying and it states that your work experience for it is full time, over 1 year under either NOC 0, A or B amongst other requirements, it will be considered.

And then secondly like how much should I have in my saving account to travel to Canada,I mean the total cost for the trip.....
As part of your Express Entry application for PR, you need to have the equivalent of CAD$12,300 in your savings/current account, fixed deposit or in treasury bills as your proof of funds if you are a family of one or single applicant. See this link for a breakdown of the proof of funds structure, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

With a PR visa, you are free to pursue work opportunities and live in Canada. You don't need a separate work visa.

Hloo.... Gud evening house, I will like to travel and work in Canada, but am currently in Nigeria.... pls can I apply for job online?
You can certainly try but until you have evidence of legal right to remain in Canada, the process might be a waste of your time. This is because it is an expensive and lengthy process for Canadian employers to apply for LMIA - Labour Market Impact Assessment in order to bring in a worker from outside. They have to prove that they could not find anybody in the whole of Canada to do the job that they want to bring in a foreigner for. Canadian employers prefer to just hire someone who has the right to remain here or is a citizen and there are thousands of such people already in Canada with more coming in daily. It is not impossible if you can find a willing employer and you have a unique set of skills and qualifications like nuclear physics or brain surgery, etc but if you're like most of us that have commonplace work experiences, you're better of applying first for a Permanent Resident visa and then looking for work accordingly. I suggest you go to the first page of this thread (https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled) and learn what you need to do to get a PR visa, all the best.

Please do we qualify for personal travel allowance after getting COPR and buying a one way ticket
Some banks, not all will honor your request for PTA based on your COPR. Others will insist on seeing a return ticket so you might want to shop around to see which will be favorable to you and also consider black market if you're buying a large quantity of FX.

Guys please I need your help!

My middle name comes first in my Bsc and Msc certificates, I didn't have any issue with my SINP nomination, will that be a problem for my PR application?
No, that is not a cause for concern so far the names appear consistently in your other documents. The order in which they appear is not an issue, they're still your names especially if captured on your international passport.

Please I need experienced people on this. Can work experience gotten before a university degree b accepted??. Like I worked for 3 years after my secondary school. I contacted them regarding a reference letter and they said I can come get.
Any work experience which falls under NOC class A, B or 0, within the last 10 years and for which you can provide employer reference letter will be accepted. It does not matter wether it was before or after tertiary education as people work in Canada for years after high school and then decide to go to college/university before returning to the work force. University is not compulsory as people who join the work force from high school can rise through the ranks based on experience and be at par or senior to those who come with degrees. If your work experience before university is not in NOC class A, B or 0, it wont count for you under work experience but can be mentioned under personal history.

1.Skill Type 0 (zero) – management jobs

2.Skill Level A — professional jobs

3.Skill Level B — technical jobs and skilled trades

Congrats to does who just received ITA's and Med passed wishing you all great results including does about getting into the pool.

Please seniors I have a question concerning sending passport, they did not mention Ghana in the email, but from past threads I see it has been Ghana. Please confirm this is in order even though my application was treated in Ottawa.
If you are physically resident in West Africa, Accra is the Visa Office that handles visa issuance for the region. London VO handles visa issuance for those applicants whose files were re-routed there due to the workload at Accra. Could it be you were/are resident in Canada which may be why your file was treated there? If you have received passport request, the email should indicate which Visa office will issue your visa.

Every other person in the family has required instead. I believe you have done the medicals by now, just confirm from the clinic that all the medicals results have been remitted with out any issue

Also,How long ago should the experience you're claiming be.
E.g If I am claiming branch manager between 2007-2009 but have other roles in the same banking afterwards is it ok? This is okay as the BM role was for over 1 year and it occurred within the last 10 years

I need your urgent help regarding my fixed deposit. My fixed deposit is a 1-year term. I opened it in June 2016, which means it's older than 6 months now. My concern is that its maturity date will be Jul 20, 2017 however my deadline for APR is Aug 16, 2017. I got the bank letter already and it clearly mentions the maturity date. Will this make CIC disregard my PoF because it will mature before the deadline? If yes, what should I do? Pls help me!!
And also, how long is the bank statement valid for APR? I did it today, which means more than a month till my deadline.
Thank you.
Hi, no need to panic. All you need to do is rollover the fixed deposit and keep the certificate. The maturity date is not a problem. Some people choose to keep their FD for 3 months cycle and keep rolling over, others do 6 months or 1 year like you. Just place on auto-rollover. If AVO needs POF update and request it from you, send the the rollover certificates as proof that the funds are in place. I used FD when I had my application and I always advise its use for this immigration process as its the best POF. There is no validity period for bank statement, it should just be a genuine document. Wether you print it today or next month, the contents should be factual and that's what matters. If they need another one, they will expressly ask for it, you print and send to them and life goes on.

Hello house, if I am using T-Bills for POF, do I also need to show the source of funds I used In purchasing the Tbills if the purchase is less than 6 months?
This will be at the discretion of the application review officer but be ready for such request and should it come, it's advisable you get evidence of the source of the funds ready such as your salary account or evidence of the sale of your assets/property from where you got the funds to purchase the T-bills. In this process, it pays to be prepared.

Things are really falling into place. Mississauga is the city i filled in my form as the city i want to settle. Thanks man. Please how much does one room self contained go for in mississauga? Thanks.
This is a link to kijiji, the Canadian equivalent of Nigeria's OLX where you can search for and get an idea what almost anything cost including rentals. http://www.kijiji.ca/b-real-estate/mississauga-peel-region/c34l1700276

But have it at the back of your mind that most landlords/agents here will not entertain your enquiries unless you have landed. They are wary of foreigners especially Nigerians as you can understand. You can still find some people who may be willing to discuss with you but I advise that you 'see' what you are getting into first before committing your self, especially financially.

You can also check on http://viewit.ca/city/Mississauga.aspx to see what is available, Just enter your spec and review what comes up to get an idea what is going on. Any area you find, simply Google it to learn about the neighborhoods and other issues of interest.

Please are residential houses in Toronto or do i look for accommodation in the outskirts of Toronto.
Please consider renting outside Toronto and look at Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville which are nearby cities and in my opinion, better places to raise a family. The transportation system across the GTA is inter-connected so you will be able to get around very well between cities. To be candid, the majority live outside Toronto but commute daily to work. This is just like in Lagos where a good number of people live off the island but commute to VI and Ikoyi. The difference here is that the life shortening traffic challenge is not an issue as the roads are better and most public transport lines are reliable.

Hi boss, for me it was Turkish Airlines and I flew with the laptop in my backpack containing all my original certificates, family documents, some personal effects and my kids jackets. It was bulky but I just hung it on my back after it went through the xray screening. I can't recall if it was weighed but I doubt if anyone will turn you back for weight of backpack. My wife carried her own backpack and 2 of my kids carried back packs as well. We maximized my family size to carry stuff as 5 hang luggages smiley Hopefully, others will share their experience.
