UdomoLeinad: The husband lands and activates his PR status, the wife can meet him there (airport/land boder) and have hers done the same day thereby changing her status from student visa to PR or she can get it done later. Her activating her PR voids her student status. 5 Likes |

Omoedeki: Hi, IRCC and the Visa Offices are interested in the job description and not the titles. If you can get the employer reference letter that states you perform the duties of a lecturer, please go ahead. It is the job role and responsibilities that matter. |

Omoedeki: To start with check here for NOC 4011, http://www23.statcan.gc.ca/imdb/p3VD.pl?Function=getVD&TVD=122372&CVD=122376&CPV=4011&CST=01012011&CLV=4&MLV=4 Being that you work with a Polytechnic though, then review NOC 4021 and 4216 through the same link. For seamless and uncomplicated entry into the pool, it's advisable you apply when you have all the requirements. 1 Like |

hiscules: This is good advice please. I have a feeling some changes may come in the new year to the various immigration programmes and when I remember how the Canadian government's recent absorption of Syrian refugees had an effect on the backlog of FSW 2014 applicants and the early Express Entry applications, it's not difficult to believe a similar dampening effect may come up again. So far, Canada is the only country who has announced plans to absorb some of the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. This will have an effect on all the Visa Offices as resources will be diverted to this exercise. It will be a wise move to move fast on current and pending applications in any way you can or get ready to apply as soon as possible. Just an opinion please. 3 Likes |

harrrry: Hi, you dont have to have anybody here to come as a visitor/tourist. Just apply for your visitor`s visa, research about where you`re landing and make adequate preparations for your visit and stay if your application is successful. Check this link for more visit visa info, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/tourist.asp 2 Likes |

ajiifixing: That's correct. IRCC confirmed it will raise the maximum age of a dependent child who may be included on an application to immigrate to Canada. As of October 24, 2017, principal applicants may include their children aged 21 and under, who are not married or in a common-law relationship, on their immigration application. |

lavivaavril: Hi, you can also get tinned palm oil from the Asian (Chinese) stores like Grant's Foodmart at 3415 Dixie Rd, Mississauga, ON L4Y 2B1. It's right at the intersection of Dixie and Bloor and they also have beef, goat and fish, even fresh point and kill right there. Also try African Caribbean Grocery at 63 Dundas Street West, Mississauga. You will get palm oil in small kegs there as well as gari, semo, melon and other Naija staples. All the Oceans Fresh Food Market stores (Chinese owned) have assorted fish & meat selections with entrails if you want. In this winter, pepper soup is a must to help you cope for the 5 months ahead. For more meat, try Kabul Farms Supermarket at 255 Dundas St West in Mississauga. If you don't mind going far then Laurie Meat is good at 1696 Jane Street, at Jane and Lawrence West, York/Toronto but I personally prefer Sisi Meats at 2734 Jane Street, Toronto. The owner, Dominic, an Italian, is much neater than Laurie and I always go to him for full goat. If you can get some friends together, you can buy a whole cow and Dom will split it up for you guys. For occasional cooked meals, try Village Suya at 900 Rathburn Road West, Mississauga. Evcen oyinbos recommend the place. Another one to try if you like to stroll is Get Grill at 7910 Hurontario St, Brampton. Hope these help. 68 Likes 33 Shares |

tbaby2015: Dependent age has been increased per Canadian immigration truly but a second thought makes me approach this situation differently in that the person in question here is not currently a dependent. So a 2-pronged approach may be adopted; 1. Institute formal adoption process so that you can have some documentation to show/support the bid to have the person added to the family's PR application. Adoption process may take time so start it as soon as possible 2. Continue with the school admission process as a back up plan to ensure the guy is not unduly separated from the family Hope this helps. 4 Likes |

yimiton: Yes indeed, I used kijiji, 4rent.ca and a host of other online sources. I would find the vacancies that met my spec, call the landlord/building manager and tell them straight on the phone that I'm a landed PR, skilled professional with my family and looking for accommodation. I told them as it was upfront so that those who don't like my 'profile' can just tell me not to bother to come. For those who did not mind, I made appointment to go see them, discuss the vacancy and inspect the place. That was how I met my building manager, she saw I and my wife, heard about our professional backgrounds and she said you are the sort of people I need in my building. This was after numerous earlier disappointments at other places but you have to approach this like applying for a job or going for interview. Some won't work out but one surely will so don't take it personal but keep moving. I agree wholeheartedly, you can make it! 42 Likes 13 Shares |

yimiton: You need to consider your professional background and review the availability of work opportunities for someone with your background. As it were, I was in that locality yesterday to check out some properties and been doing some research on the place. Waterloo is largely a university town with Uni of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier Uni. Some large insurance companies have operations there and struggling Blackberry also has a base there. 4 Likes |

yimiton: Any one who asks you for those and you do not have them, simply move on to the next vacancy/next opportunity. That's what I did till got a building where they waived those requirements. 1 Like 1 Share |

Madir: Hi, I got a U-Haul truck and moved my stuff myself when I changed cities and moved to my house in a new city. You can hire your own helping hands/movers off kijiji.ca and save costs that way. Few weeks to my move, I began to box up my stuff so that I was not under pressure by moving day. The morning of the move, we just loaded up the stuff into the U-haul truck and I drove it myself. My family followed in our car and that was it. When my friend moved houses later, a number of us friends came together to move his stuff for him into a Uhaul truck and off load at his house. We didn't have to pay for professional movers. Hope this gives you some ideas. 22 Likes 8 Shares |

nnekdre: Hi, it depends. You can land anywhere in Canada and activate your PR but to settle/live, your entry programme matters. If you got PR by Federal ITA, then you can settle anywhere (except Quebec which has their own programmes). If you came in by provincial nomination, then as the name suggests, you are meant to settle in the province that nominated you (atleast until you become a citizen and can relocate). We have had some sad cases of people being denied PR renewal or citizenship and being removed because they relocated away from the province that nominated them to come to Canada. Many people are being misled by people already here who cut corners and use all sorts of tactics to get around the system but as with all things with records, there's always a day of reckoning. 20 Likes 6 Shares |

kun1: Hi, you can find accommodation via kijji.ca. What most people do from Nigeria is to secure a place through AirBnB, land and live there for a while and look for permanent accommodation. So you are initially able to live in some comfort and are able to take your time to find a suitable place. 10 Likes 5 Shares |

5Kay: Having paid the $550.00 application fee, if your application is successful then you will need to pay $490.00 for the issuance of PR visa at the end of the process. After receipt of your $490.00 payment, your passport is requested for towards one-entry visa stamp and issuance of your COPR - Confirmation of Permanent Residence. 2 Likes |

mclarry: As regards landing with cash, you are expected to declare any cash amount with you equal to or greater than $10,000.00. For amount less than that, you will still need to fill in how much you're bringing on the landing/declaration card. Some people split their POF between the PA and spouse for safety reasons lest the whole cash get lost. We've had an instance where someone slept off on the plane, his cash fell out his pockets and it was at the point of declaration after landing, he realized he de-boarded the plane without his cash! It's usually at Nigerian airports some people don't declare all their cash so as to avoid drama from our customs and immigration people but please once you get here, declare all your cash you came with regardless of where you kept it. These people randomly check and they don't joke with under-declaring cash especially with anti-money laundering and terrorism concerns here. Our Naija people are landing here with $100k in cash and it's not a problem if you can prove the source. They are used to seeing Nigerians with big money, it does not faze them. Hope this helps. 24 Likes 2 Shares |

olugere: You have different matriculation numbers which means separate ID, files for you with your school. Though you are married, for the records you are also individuals. For this reason, you have to get your ECA separately and the school will not even attend to a joint application for transcript/verification. All couples, including I and my wife who went to same school and were in the same class apply separately for transcript, certificates and verification. 4 Likes |
