The problem is not just long hours; Lagos traffic is the issue. Any one who works on the island and lives on the mainland goes through living hell every blessed day. You leave work 5-6pm and get home (Yaba/Anthony/Maryland) like 8pm on a good day and 9-10pm most days.During rainy season, many get home well after midnight - yes, including nursing mothers! Now imagine the fate of those who live in Ogba, Dopemu, Ojodu, Akute, Ikorodu etc and work on the island.

I've read/heard that none of the North African countries has an accurate census because it would reveal that black skinned people are actually the majority of the population. I cannot vouch for this claim though. If you actually know anything about Nigerian immigrants in continental Europe, you'd know that many or most of them especially in Italy are primary or secondary school leavers and their preferred mode of communication is pidgin.

They adapt, grow and evolve in tune with technological, social, political and economic changes as well as migration, trade, travel etc. From this your last comment, I guess you left Nigeria before 2001 or you are presently a teenager and left fairly recently but as a child. Nigerian pidgin has grown and adapted to include text-speak due to the mobile telecommunications revolution since 2001. Even Twitter and Facebook terminology are fast entering the lingo.

Unless you have access to serious money or have solid investors backing you, I suggest you think of something other than action movies. Action movies cost millions in $$$ if you actually want to do it right. Also, the technical facilities and production crew are not available in Nigeria. You can hire from South Africa but that still comes down to $$$

As another poster suggested, if you simply want to make a movie different from the typical Nollywood fare of today, why not consider making movies that would exploit Nigeria's history and culture? I've not seen or heard of any movie about the struggle for independence in Nigeria e.g. the coal miner's strike or the Aba women's uprising? Jaja of Opobo? Amina of Zaria? There've been some movies about Oduduwa but those are mostly the usual juju stuff.

In terms of financing, movies with a historical or cultural background will be of more interest to foreign donors. The French and Belgian governments as well the European Union give financial support to filmmakers in francophone African countries. In fact. virtually all the award winning movies from Senegal, Mali, Guinea and other francophone African countries in the last 30-40 years were made with financial assistance (and technical support) from Western donors. Hence they are referred to as 'embassy films' because of the support from Cultural Attaches at French embassies in Africa. You may want to contact the French embassy in Abuja to see if they will support your film. But I very much doubt they will be interested in action movies.
