DeepZone: South-West State donated ‘evil forest’ for police housing scheme ![]() Are the CPs stupid? |
The real problem in Nigeria is that so many of us just don't get it. You'll always find people supporting inept politicians and their wasteful projects. What the hell is street soccer in the midst of so much poverty. Is that even an option for an elected government to waste resources? |
It's the least expensive. You just need a ball and 22 people can play. Any open space can be turned into a football pitch with stones as goal posts, and you can even play barefooted! |
It's really embarrassing reading the news reports online. I often end up confused with their very shallow articles. Very little tangible information and a non existent investigative journalism. |
otokx :Exactly! They'll end up offering escort services to oil bunkerers in and out the volatile region. That's a more rewarding Naija move. |
Kobojunkie: seriously scratching head on this one If the bill is for Nigeria, why bring it up with the UN? What was the point of this?I was as confused as you are. The Vanguard report is just crap like most Naija news I read daily online. So many questions. The stupid Naija delegation obviously was not introducing any bill at the UN It's not the right forum. Maybe Vanguard meant some kind of UN resolution sponsored by the bone headed, estacode chasing Naija delegation. |
Not to knock Fresh Prince but you compare Denzel to Morgan Freeman and Sydney Poitier. Lol @ superb. ![]() I'm not sure how you define "Oscar worthy", but your movie choices will not sniff an Oscar nomination anytime soon. |
Development Education Center Enugu in the Eastern part of Nigeria has collaborated extensively with German charitable organizations. http://decnigeria.com/contact_us.htm They might be able to refer you to one of their German partners to sponsor your mission. They have the infrastructure in place for the kind of work you're interested. Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states, the core Eastern (Igbo) states are just as dangerous as any other part of Nigeria. The usual robbery and its associated violence found in Lagos (West), Kaduna (North) and about every other part of Nigeria. The really dangerous part of Nigeria is Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta states in the Niger Delta region. The region has not been part of Eastern Nigeria since after the civil war in the 70s. And the reason for the heightened level of danger in the region is the people's legitimate agitation for a fair share of Nigeria's oil revenue which is tapped from their backyard. |
There is something disturbing in a country of extreme hardship and banks seem to prosper. May be there are genuine reasons that an economic novice like me can't see, but I'm sure our unchanging corrupt system will surely prevail. |
They're not evil. Just another animal that humans choose to control as pets. I hate pets! |
How about due diligence before you enter into any contract? ![]() |
Nigerians are not really bad. Sure they have their fair share of criminals, especially for a country of over 100mil. The striking difference is the rotten system of government that we continue to perpetuate. Even 3rd world countries facing civil strife and war are not as corrupt as our government. Until we evolve as a nation and change our attitude towards the rule of law, the country will continue to drift away. The overflowing and largely ignorant citizens will continue to do "anything" to taste the affluence often exhibited by those that have access to oil revenue. |
If we don't get a handle on corruption we'll remain rooted in choking poverty to worry about any next big killer. |
Maybe Kenyans tie wrapper in all setting but in Naija most official functions demand formal dressing at all times of the year. Which is the prevailing culture worldwide. People still wear tie and suit in most countries during the dog days of summer if the occasion demands. The fact is that majority of Nigerians don't even own a suit. Stand on a major Naija street and you will confirm that less than 1% wear suit in their day to day activities. I just hate generalization with no empirical proof. |
Is there a law against prostitution? Really? Brothels are open and notorious in most Naija cities and you can pick up "ashes" easily on the street. If there is a redundant statute banning prostitution in Naija, it has been replaced by general accepted practice over time. |
Banning smoking in "public" is different from "public places". I hope that is the case. I can't imagine arresting someone smoking in the street. |
I knew based on the evidence that the cops will go free as charged. While we continue to work on societal issues like racism, there are still laws existing to maintain order, and the cops were innocent by law. |
If you commit a pre-meditated murder, it's only fair that you should be killed. The punishment fell short of the life already taken but still, the pre-meditated murderer must be killed because his life is worthless in my view. |
It's no longer a first son thing. It's who can afford to give. I know many baby brothers that dictate what happens in their family because they can afford to throw around cash. Having the heart to give has nothing to do with your age either. Many big brothers will not give their relative more than the obligatory handouts. |
It's simply astounding the level of our collective folly in Naija. It will take a while to get this "ship" going in the right direction. ![]() |
Funny Naija. There is actually a naval force while Naija Delta militants roam freely around creeks in their engine powered canoes, holding people hostage. Talking about ship building. Only if we can figure out what is going on with the "corruption conduit" called Ajaokuta steel industry. Hopefully before the end of the 21st century. |
I marvel when I read stories like this, which is not strange in Naija. The only reason you can work more than a month without pay is that you have no responsibility and fully dependent. Or like most people in Naija, "just hustling". Whatever that means. |
@Kashif & Echelon Are you for real! Brilliant!!! |
Abeg, the Tivs should calm down about this secession talk. I don't want to pay tarriff to import bushmeat from Tivland. On a serious note, who says if every state become independent the villages wont continue to fight each other for government positions, as is the case in every nook and corner of present Naija. |
Ain't that a bitch! You still want to know what's wrong with Naija. |
Taking it a bit further, cemetery and graves ought to be done away with. If we need reminders of the dead, images does a better job of that. I've already made a will that my body should be cremated and the ash scattered without funfare. |
Builder: Ibo guys are fairly used cars, na only God know who go die first.Still can't make out this inane comment in the topic of discussion. ![]() |
Yaraduah is the key to everything. In Nigeria system, the president controls everything and everybody. If Yaraduah is committed to change, and feels it's in his interest, you'll see progress regardless of all the pawns around him. We're still light years away from diminishing the amazing powers of a third world president. |
The commissioner, however, expressed concern at the reluctance by Nigerian doctors to take up appointment with the state government in spite of the offer made to them. I wonder why that is ![]() Could someone send a memo to Mr. Commissioner that an environment where a cartoon published in Denmark could easily result in death sentence for me is a matter of grave concern. |
Can it be "gone" any sooner? May be through some cataclysmic event. I'm working my prayers on it. |
