CultureRe: A Man Cannot Claim A Child If He Did Not Marry The Mother (igbos Only) by BlackMamba(m): 8:48pm On Aug 06, 2007
It used to be prevalent in some parts of Igboland that a rich widow can marry a woman to have kids in the dead husband's name. Of course, the new wife will have to sleep with men outside to get pregnant, but the men will have no claims over the kids.

PoliticsRe: Kill The African Monarchy? by BlackMamba(m): 8:21pm On Aug 06, 2007
Where I come from and pretty much the entire Igboland, a mornarch is as influential as the size of his pocket. With enough cash I can become the king of my extended family, with an imposing palace and all the trappings to go with it. Mornachy is never a problem but rather the elitist culture and the controlling influence of the wealthy.
Music/RadioRe: Ron Kenoly To Perform In Nigeria by BlackMamba(m): 8:09pm On Aug 06, 2007
How is his singing or whatever he does best going to improve the life of his admirers, better than any other entertainer? I hate entertainers that fleece people of hard earned money, especially in poor Africa, under the disguise of religion.

Is there gold in commercial quantity? Over the years there has been reports like this. This seems like an official grandstanding. You can't cover pregnancy with bare hands. We shall wait and see.

PoliticsRe: My Ordeal In The Hands Of The Netherlands Police, By Osoufia by BlackMamba(m): 2:57pm On Aug 03, 2007
The police gave a clear legitimate reason for raiding the place-"criminal activities". Obviously the handling seems racist because of the shoddy treatment of the black audience, which by the way is commonplace in the West. It's the role of our government to demand respect and better treatment of its citizens, especially when it appears that racism plays a role in a country's law enforcement. Osuofia's suggestion that his 419 song is the reason for the raid is just mere speculation, and he failed to or unable to discredit with facts that the "criminal activity" reason was pretext.
PoliticsRe: 90 Nigerian Women Arrested For Indecent Dressing In Lagos. by BlackMamba(m): 3:17am On Aug 03, 2007
Of course the police will claim that they were arresting prostitutes, who coincidentally roam the streets scantly dressed to attract Johns. But, trust Naija police, if you give them an inch, they'll gladly take a mile. Anybody in the vicinity of a raid is automatically a suspect, and must either be bailed (cash consideration) at the station, or you languish in jail till, if you're lucky, they complete investigation and charge you to court.
RomanceRe: Why Do Men Get Scared Of Commitment& Responsibilities by BlackMamba(m): 9:20pm On Aug 02, 2007
Why are most women so insecure about life that getting attached (marriage) to man is a goal that must be accomplished to make them whole?

Most men want to get married (I don't), but there are more important practical factors, such as wealth, which every right thinking man with ambition, considers before jumping into the inconvenient reality of marriage. Marriage without guaranteed comfort is doomed. F*ck love. It's transient. Respect endures but comfort breeds respect.
NYSCRe: NYSC Ordered To Accept All Graduates by BlackMamba(m): 2:31pm On Aug 02, 2007
shocked I was gearing up to mobilize qualified graduates who may be left out, to sue their federal ass for damages. With the recent wave of judicial activism, the prospect of some kind of cash settlement (highly unlikely in Naija) wasn't looking too bad. If for nothing, to bring deserved attention to a moribund program.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Succubus/incubus: Is It Real? by BlackMamba(m): 11:54pm On Jul 29, 2007
Your mind is playing tricks on you. You are only fully alert once you wake up and your dream obviously stops. All the struggle and the "thing" keeping you from waking are part of the plot in your bad dream. People often dream about winning a lottery and never wake up to whine, but once they dream about some weired stuff they're quick to freak out.
Nairaland GeneralRe: No Nigeria Musician In United States. by BlackMamba(m): 6:32pm On Jul 29, 2007
abode: Who is Nasir Ola Jones?
Get your facts right
For the upteent time, Nas is not Nigerian, despite the "Nasir Ola" part of his name. His Dad Olu Dara (formally Charles Jones III), a renowed African American Jazz musician, was given the name "Olu Dara" by a Yoruba priest when he returned to America after travelling to Africa. So he equally gave his son an African name.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Succubus/incubus: Is It Real? by BlackMamba(m): 5:29pm On Jul 29, 2007
You were sleeping, and when you sleep you often engage in a human subconscious action called "dreaming", which sometimes are not sweet, ie nightmares. And because you're asleep, you feel helpless. Often when you wake up you feel just fine. If you don't go freaking out like some people do over bad dreams. And that's also why no one ever wakes up to confront the "thing" that was threatening them when they were sound asleep.

EducationRe: Wat Does Cultism Entails? by BlackMamba(m): 2:53am On Jul 28, 2007
By posting your question under education, I'll assume you're referring to University cults. It entails nothing. They're pretty much like street gangs. These are young adults showing off exuberance. It's often a mix of miscreants, and others that go with the flow to "belong" and look tough on campus. The bottom line is that the cons far outweigh the pros in joining these gangs. Few members cause all the havoc and everyone is a target if there is "War" on campus, including fringe members. You can get killed in a minute for some dumb misunderstanding and if you're ever arrested by the police, you better hope your parents can close the case. Brotherhood will resume when you get out of jail. In short, the whole idea of cults in Nigeria University is so dumb that once you graduate you'll ask yourself, what was I thinking? The problem is that the lure to join is often so strong for a young impressionable student especially is you're not financially solid to command respect on your own.
SportsRe: Is The Barry Bonds Saga Racist? by BlackMamba(m): 2:15am On Jul 28, 2007
Jr. would've been easier for them to accept. Non-threatening attitude, sweet swing and ever sweet smile. Unfortunately, after so many injuries we'll never find out. Barry never gave a damn about nobody from day one and that really pisses them off. A-Rod is now been promoted to surpass Barry. I don't mind A-Money surpassing Barry as long as he remains a Bronx Bomber.

SportsRe: Is The Barry Bonds Saga Racist? by BlackMamba(m): 8:09pm On Jul 27, 2007
The dominant white culture has a way of sticking it to minorities especially blacks if they see an opportunity. The white reaction obviously has racial undertone, even if there are legitimate concerns about Barry's use of the "Clear" and "Cream".

Same thing can be attributed to the white reaction to Vick's bone-headed relationship to dog breeding that has led to the ugly incident of animal abuse.

The racism often comes out in not giving this guys the benefit of doubt in the face of troubling allegations that are somehow related to them.

Lance Armstrong was accused of doping. He got the benefit of doubt and has pretty much escaped unscathed. Although not much concrete evidence surfaced to support the claim. May be the controlling white culture didn't find it necessary to dig as deep as they would have, had he been black.

RomanceRe: Have You Ever Cheated On Your Partner? by BlackMamba(m): 7:09pm On Jul 27, 2007
There is no expectation or demand for a monogamous relationship. So cheating do not come into play. Surprisingly, there are enough decent women out there that practice this lifestyle, and I'm loving it. No pressures. No lies.
