Politics / Turai? by BlackMamba(m): 7:35pm On Feb 25, 2010 |
Does anyone really believe this mumbo-jumbo that the wife of the president is calling the shots in Aso Rock? If some influential part of our corrupt ruling cabal, in and out of the present regime, do not rally around Jonathan to put an end to this mess, we will continue to grope in the dark. It doesn't really matter because with or without a figure head as president, the corrupt elite will continue to run the corruption enterprise called Nigeria. |

Business / Re: How Do Banks Make Their Money? by BlackMamba(m): 5:33pm On Aug 15, 2009 |
I've always thought of the prosperity of Nigerian banks in the midst of a dreadful economy. But who cares. It's just like most institutions in Nigeria where corruption and lack of transparency is the norm. Corruption has conditioned us in a way that those that understand the irregularities in our system either do not have the capacity to effect change or just find a way to join the corruption train and cash in. Unfortunately, it's the better option in Nigeria at this time. |

Politics / Re: National Assembly Usurping Role Of Judiciary by BlackMamba(m): 4:29am On Feb 12, 2009 |
Simply grandstanding. Mix of ignorance and often calculated schemes to get their share of the ongoing looting of public funds. Most of them do not know what their job entails and most Nigerians do not even have a clue. I forget, they weren't even elected. |

Culture / Re: Enugu Boys And Girls Here Only by BlackMamba(m): 3:54am On Jan 30, 2009 |
Enugu used to be home for me. And like any home I had more fun in Enugu than any other Naija city. Hard to believe for some folks, but remember I called it home and knew how to maximize the limited fun potential it presented. Goat meat and rice at "Nwanyi Ituku" was a good way to start off the day. Lunch could be at "Emily" or some woman that had wonderful "Okazi" soup in Morehouse. Talking about Morehouse. That used to be the spot. Nothing really special. Just boiled chicken and moi-moi, but I preferred the ambiance to fancy spots. Guys used to just hang out, gulp bottles of chilled beer and listen to ogene music. Or you can do Oneal in New Haven. On weekends, the next port of call from Moorehouse was the Forum nite club. During this period, Forum nite club was the place to be if you're in Enugu. If you stay till morning like I often did, you definitely need to sober up with a hot plate of rice at "Dans" in Ogui road. |
Politics / Re: Court Orders INEC To Allow Nigerians Abroad To Vote by BlackMamba(m): 2:52am On Jan 30, 2009 |
What exactly do our oyibo folks want to get out of voting? If it gives you any personal satisfaction that you actually cast your vote, good for you. Unfortunately, votes don't count in the selection process adopted in Nigeria over the years. |
Culture / Re: Not Being To Lagos, a 'bush person'? by BlackMamba(m): 2:45am On Jan 28, 2009 |
Sapphic: Were you really that ignorant when you first went to secondary school? Hopefully, you're now aware of the real reason why some Nigerians are able to do summer holidays abroad and live affluently Lagos. |
Religion / Re: Women Are Not To Stand On The Pulpit To Preach. by BlackMamba(m): 3:18am On Jan 22, 2009 |
To me, Christianity and its bible and other religious beliefs only serve to instill some level of morality in society. Without the reward and punishment in the after life, we will all resort to predatory living like most other animals despite any human laws. This is the one and only meaningful interpretation you can get out religion. From these premise, humans over time pick and choose what promotes an orderly society from their religious books and doctrines. What does the bible say about slavery? I guess we can't follow the bible on that one. |
Politics / Re: . by BlackMamba(m): 9:12pm On Jan 16, 2009 |
Why not advocate for colonial rule instead. If someone that has the knowledge to access the internet will call for a military rule, then it seems we're at a loss in our battle against ignorance. |
Culture / Re: Why Is There An Issue With A Nigerian Man Marrying An Aa? by BlackMamba(m): 2:30am On Jan 15, 2009 |
It's a very very delicate issue. If at the end of the day he cannot at least help you cultivate some kind of working relationship with his family, then don't even bother. Especially, if he has a close bond with his family. On your part, you must be ready to sacrifice a lot of ego. Remember you're getting married to him and not his family. He needs your help to work his family. I'm not saying you have to take BS from his family to get married to him but if there is true commitment between both of you, you'll be able to navigate the murky waters of cultural differences and come out just fine to enjoy a happy marriage. I'm actually in the last phase of a similar situation. I had to put pressure on family subtly because I was 100% sure of what I got in my AA GF. And she has played a wonderful role in the whole process. Good luck in your quest for happiness. |

Romance / Re: Please Only Matured Mind With Matured Advice Needed. by BlackMamba(m): 2:35am On Jan 09, 2009 |
I don't think you make such an important decision that may change the rest of your life based on advice you solicit from strangers on the internet. Like someone asked, Are you willing to alienate your family. Whether this culture is stupid, which I personally think it is, does not matter. If you can't work it out, it's a choice between your family and your personal life. Think hard before you make the call because you'll live with your choice. |
Culture / Re: Have You Ever Dated A Black-american? by BlackMamba(m): 2:20am On Jan 09, 2009 |
Replying to the poster, the only difference in dating an AA is the cultural orientation. Cultural differences can be a wonderful experience if neither of you is ignorant and is willing to learn. Bad character people exist in all cultures. The fact that most Nigerians date Nigerians is just a default of humans, being comfortable with their like. It doesn't mean they're better choices. My life with my AA wifey has been most fulfilling. This is coming from a Naija man with very strong African values. |
NYSC / Re: Should Female Corpers Be Banned From Serving In Banks? by BlackMamba(m): 3:29am On Dec 24, 2008 |
If I haven't met some highly placed Nigerians in power, I will be amazed by such display of ignorance. But it is what it is. The Naija way. |
Politics / Re: Hardship In US. Forces Nigerians Home by BlackMamba(m): 3:02am On Dec 24, 2008 |
Why would any sane person relocate to Naija if you've not figured a means of tapping into the corruption pipeline? We all know what the deal is in Naija. |
Politics / Re: Ndi Okereke-Onyuike Arrested By EFCC Over Obama Xtravaganza! by BlackMamba(m): 3:28pm On Aug 21, 2008 |
We are stuck in a fundamentally corrupt system. Acronyms like EFCC, ICPC, WAI, MAMSA etc are simply useless. It's the same corrupt wine in new bottles. BTW there is still the police and the AG & DPP to prosecute any crime. Unfortunately, they're Nigerians like the members of the new acronyms. Genuine changes will be obvious from Aso Rock whenever that happens, if ever. Especially with the "unitary" system in Nigeria. |
Sports / Re: Nigeria (0) - Argentina (1) In 2008 Olympics Final by BlackMamba(m): 5:23am On Aug 20, 2008 |
With all the poverty and brazen violent crimes in Naija most people are worried about winning a stupid soccer game in China. Are we under a spell or what? I read today that Yaraduah's mum was robbed in her bedroom. Bullion vans getting snatched in broad daylight and governors entourage ambushed by robbers. Any hope for this banana republic outside soccer? I guess not, with the explosion of ChelseaManUArsenal disease to keep the masses suffering and smiling. |
Politics / Re: Enugu Assembly Passes Landlord Tenant Bill by BlackMamba(m): 1:54am On Aug 14, 2008 |
Just for clarity. UNN is acronym for University of Nigeria Nsukka. Obviously, located in Nsukka in present Enugu state. Enugu state, Ebonyi state and present Anambra state used to be one state called Anambra state. Nsukka has never been part of Ebonyi or present Anambra state. Enugu the capital city of Enugu state has a campus (branch) of UNN. Hope this helps to enlighten some folks about the breeding ground of Great Lions and Lionesses. 1 Like |

Sports / Our Football Players And Name Change by BlackMamba(m): 8:24pm On Aug 10, 2008 |
Recently Chinedu Ogbuke told the press that his last name is Obasi. Ogbuke is just a middle name. Also I noticed that Obinna Nsofor is now referred to as Victor Obinna, dropping the Nsofor. I'm not sure what his change is about. Mikel started off as John Obi Mikel but has reasonably rectified the obvious error to John Mikel Obi. I'm not sure what to make of these name mix up of Naija players. It could all be mistakes but it's Naija where things are not always the way they appear. I assumed people always know their name. |
Politics / Re: Reverse Brain Drain As Ambitious Nigerians Come Home by BlackMamba(m): 10:39pm On Aug 09, 2008 |
Unfortunately, the solution is not going back to invest resources in your private venture. You will either get frustrated out or adjust to the very corrupt system to survive Naija. I'm waiting for those committed to sacrifice everything and fight for public office. Only way to start changing the corrupt system. |

Fashion / Re: Why Do Girls Dress To Kill At Shoprite? by BlackMamba(m): 1:31am On Aug 09, 2008 |
I smell the same old elitist put down by some Naija folks who happen to find their ass in a western country. Like someone rightly pointed out Naija is still a 3rd world country last I checked, regardless of how we value ourselves and our stuff. But we have the right to appreciate stuff any way we like. Folks comparing our so called deli-like mall to Walmart often shop in low cost Walmart and discount stores rather than designer stores on 5th Avenue. Shoprite is big in Naija and Naija is not US or UK. |
Sports / Re: Why Is Football The Global Game? by BlackMamba(m): 12:54am On Aug 09, 2008 |
ukukaegbu: Above can apply to other sports eg Baseball in Latin America. That's not why soccer is global. Soccer survived and flourished better than other major sports introduced around the world by colonial masters because of its simple rules and cheap cost. |
Career / Re: My Salary Account Was Credited Twice by BlackMamba(m): 12:29am On Aug 09, 2008 |
@poster Heloooooooooooo Have you returned the money as you should or held on to it? Totally your choice. Not that it really matters to me what you do. I just want to keep the story/tale going if I can. Be a good sport, keep us updated, even if you've not decided yet. After all, you started the conversation. It's just an interesting mix of professionalism and morality struggling for a soul in a very corrupt society. Or just a naive mind scared of getting caught in a financial fraud? |
Politics / Re: A Legal Opinion On The Nudity Bill: Unconstitutional And Indecent by BlackMamba(m): 11:30pm On Jul 28, 2008 |

Politics / Re: Of Value And Nigerian Factor by BlackMamba(m): 11:02pm On Jul 28, 2008 |
The solution is easy but selfless and may be dangerous. You can sacrifice your personal dreams and start the struggle for change even if it is at the village level. You don't have to be a millionaire to do this. Surely, the consequences can be dire or even death but that's the price we must pay for posterity. Do something today if you really care or just shut up. Is it in you? |
