Alxmyr: Despite the professor's hard work claim and the world brand claim, UNILAG ranked 38th in Africa, and third in Nigeria.Funny u shld mention this....pls how many of these top universities did u see suddenly re-named after private individuals? A name is everything in any institution. Pple spend a lot of money, time and resources to build brands. Suddenly changing the name destroys everything |
Beaf: The University of Lagos Act is from 1967. I do not see its use in any law court; uni's are now regulated by the National Universities Commission.Seriously, how dumb can u be! Every law made by the govt remains in effect until it is repealed by the national assembly. It doesn't matter whether it was made in 1912 or even inherited from our slave masters:I.e britain. Pls go and read the Interpretation Act. Its there in black and white |
Once gain, this clueless govt has demonstrated its insensitivity and stupidity. First its subsidy removal, next they try to force nigerians to consume cassava in bread (never mind pple can be allergic and/or die from it), then they want to increase electricity tarriff even without any significant progress in the sector, and now gej just wakes up one morning and decides to rename an institution that is well established and recognised globally. Really, does gej have any advisers at all. What exactly is the job of all his SAs, assistant SAs, assistant to the assistant SAs etc. This just stinks!! Worst democratic govt ever!!! |
Today its change of name, tomorrow he may decide to change it to a polytechnic. We are not in military regime, gej shld have consulted wit all stakeholders, including the students b4 embarking on this. Once again he has put the cart b4 the horse. I wonder who his advicers are! |
All those of u shouting against and cursing the doctors are very very silly. The real person that is orchestrating the destruction of the health sector is the government. But as foolish nigerians yáll are too blind, or simply too dumb to realise that it is actually the govt that has driven away the doctors. But guess what, doctors can never be hungry. and the more chaotic the health sector becomes, they more private jobs for the doctors. The lagos state govt shld swallow its stupid pride and do what its constitutionally mandated to do. Driving away all medical personnel does not help anybody |
This is wot happens wen govt wilfully refuses to honour its commitments. For heavensake, why shld fashola throw into the bush an agreement which was entered into by him and his cohorts. Were they blind wen they were signing it. It serves lasg ryt, and I fully support the solidarity strike. Will be solidarity protests against the lasg by all lagosians and pressure groups. I hope fashola is wise enough to see that heads or tail, he losses. The solution is simple, go back to the negotiation table. Nobody shld be a bully and no person deserves to be bullied in any functioning democracy. Govt does not hold the monopoly of power. The little ones still have a voice! |
President Goodluck's campaign for Transformation ends at his mouth! Ladies and gentlemen, i regret to report to you with utmost disgust that the new federal workers who were employed since June last year have not been paid a dime. I mean, we have been working for eight months without any form of remuneration whatsoever. Now the President will sit in Asorock and tell me to be transformed? That i should not be corrupt? IMPoSSIBLE!! At this point anything that comes my way, i go chop. I must survive. How do i cater for myself, not to menttion my family. The situation is so pathetic. Since we were employed, its been one story or the other, IPPIS, Registraion, no money in acc etc. I mean if there's no money, then y employ in the first place? And if u know the structures are not yet ready to recruit, then y take in more staff? All those cabals at the top will sit there swallowing people's livelihood, while innocent people at the bottom continue to languish in extreme suffering. As far as am concerned, that transformation policy has no meaning to an empty stomach. Mtscheeeew! |
Gambrosia:I know you are just trying to look for cheap attention. I dont want to believe you really mean what you just posted. Cos if you do, then you really need to have your head examined. You are not even a true muslim, so long as you endorse an evil sect that is reponsible for murdering innocent civilians as well as even members of their own group! Dont get it twisted, boko haram has nothing to do with islam. They are simply terrorists who have hijacked the religion to propagate and instigate terror, and anybody who supports them is just as bad as they are. Also remember that bombs cant distinguish btw who is muslim or christian, so that bomb might just be thrown in your own backyard to eliminate the christians. I really hope you and all the members of your family will be in the house that day that the bomb is thrown! Rubbish !! |
Naledi14:Yes, this is true. Thats y SA is ranked higher than Nigeria on the list. I visited South Africa last year, and i must say i'm in love with the country. Yes it has its problems, but culture-wise, its a really beautiful country |
Immigration repatriates 25 Chinese From ADETUTU FOLASADE-KOYI, Abuja Wednesday, November 30 , 2011 “Seeing foreigners on the streets of Nigeria does not mean that they are of irregular status. Most of them are legal residents. Distinguished Senators, there are not many foreigners in Nigeria. We have well over just 300, 000 legally resident in Nigeria in a population of over 160 million people. “Those of us who travel, when you are coming back to Nigeria, I am sure you can count the numbers of foreigners in the aircraft. Nigeria is not yet a destination of choice. You see foreigners in Senegal, there are more in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya and other places’ you see lots of tourists there.”
This is not a surprise, for a country that holds the record for one of the grossest violation of human rights. Which foreigner will want to come to a place where there is no rule of law, a country that practices "might is right" and where corruption and insecurity are the order of the day! Not to mention the horrible attitude towards minorities, especially homosexuaals (who are reputed to be the widest travellers and spenders) |
beknown:Which stupid culture? Is it not the same culture that permitted and even enforced the killing of twins sometime ago? Is not under the same culture that people are using fellow human beings as sacrifice to get wealth and political power? is it not under the same culture that people are looting public funds, falsifying records and bombing fellow humans ? Please leave this culture argument, because it makes no sense. Not to mention that in some parts of Nigeria, women have been known to marry fellow women. And infact homosexuals were actually tolerated, ask the hausas the meaning of "yan daudu"? Punishing people for being gay is not only wicked but infact just plain dumb! You can change someone from being gay by imprisoning the person. |
Desola:I hope u dont have to experience a similar situation in future. The way u are running ur mouth anyhow against a widow in mourning. Anyway, just remember that what u sow u shall reap. KnowAll:May God punish you and your rotten mouth! U just keep blabbing about things you know nothing about. Pls this is not the time to castigate a family that is in mourning. If you dont have anything good to say, just shut the Bleep up! |
Pls WHY CANT U GUYS READ BEFORE SPITTING RUBBISH COMMENT The man did not say he promised anything, he SAID WORK HAS ALREADY BEGUN. SO I DONT UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR SO MUCH HATE. I was never a GEJ supporter, but the fact is that the man is already there, so we must let him work. Instead sitting there and spitting out DISCOURAGING comments, why not join hands to assist govt in achieving its policies. Afterall, if you dont believe in the govt, then u have no right to expect it to work All these spitting of bitter words is getting too much. Even during the obasanjo regime (which is reputed for the grossest embezzlement and corruption) it was not as bad as this! GEJ is a human being, Nigeria can not suddenly become shangrila overnight! |
freepeople:Pls dont jump to conclusion. First ask urself, how many people can afford the verification by 2 independent doctors? And how many can take the supposed corpse abroad for further verification? The story itself shows that there is obviously a problem with our medical system. it is apparent that the man was not properly diagnosed, so the comment is not at all preposterous.
There is nothing GOD can not do!!!!!,
Apparently nigerians can help but call God into everything. We are saying someone almost got buried alive out of medical malfunction and someone is talking about a miraculous rising from the dead |
TRUTHTELA:Exactly, i also found it shocking that the magistrate decided to postpone sentencing "pending the conclusion of investigation". Secondly, was the confessional statement of the accused corroborated? Becos last time i checked, a confessional statement alone is not enought to secure conviction. Everything is happening just too fast to be taken serious |
I dont understand, everyone seems to be condemning the woman but no one has any specific fact to show that she was corrupt. ![]() If she is so bad, pls GEJ should tell us what she did to warrant her being sacked, because as i recall, the National Assembly had threatened to punish the woman for attempting to bring Dimeji to book. This might just be an off shoot of that threat. But as usual, most of you will much rather rely on rumours to justify someone's persecution |
oludashmi:Yea i have heard the Benues are one of the most promiscuous people on the planet. Infact i seem to recall their exploits during our NYSC Camp |
Why are all of you busy blaming the man. Did he rape the woman? She obviously willingly opened her two legs for him, so y now start to complain of his promiscuity. As far as i am concerned, nigerian women are as guilty as their male counterparts. The reason why foreign men seldom cheat is because they are aware of the consequences. Firts he will lose the house, the kids, then his property will be split, not to mention he also has to pay alimony, plus child upkeep etc. But here in naija, anything goes. And it is only when he has impregnated another one that the former will start to cry fowl. Note to Nigerian women: if u want ur men to be faithful, then start lobbying ur law makers to start doing their jobs. And open ur goddam eyes and discipline ur cheating spouses. A man will always cheat where there is ample opportunity and no consequences whatsoever! |
Na wa o! Dunno if this a forward or backward devt, since the women was a bit sincere in bringing corrupt officials to justice (inspite of the huge political challenges). Hope GEJ knows what he is doing. |
wellheads:well, so if i understanding you correctly- u are saying that the yoruba culture is wrong because it does not follow what islamic culture says? Question: can a culture be wrong? isnt culture the totality of a people's way of life? if islam is a culture, and yoruba's have their own culture, then how can u then say that one is bad and the other is good? on the other hand, i beg to disagree with ur second statement. Islam is rather a derivative of Arab culture and not the other way round. The arabs were on this planet long before the tenets which have today come to be associated with islam were crystallized. I believe they practiced other religions long before the birth of islam, so indeed it is the other way round. The covering of the hair (hijab) is part of arabian culture which is then further admonished in the quran as khimar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijab |
wellheads:But ur argument is conflicting. You say islam is islam, yet u acknowledge that a yoruba woman may nevertheless be permitted to leave her head open. This shows that how islam is practiced differs from region to region, hence u can not say the practice of islam is universal. consequently, there is definitely a difference btw how northerners practice islam, and how southerners practice it. And this distinction is also very apparent, categorically influenced by the inherent cultures of both places as well as foreign (arab) cultures |
